One lane in each direction for the Detroit Windsor Tunnel
    Bruce K.

Completed in 1930, the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel (Tunnel de Détroit-Windsor for our French-Canadian amis) was the third vehicular underwater tunnel constructed in the United States following the Holland Tunnel between New York and New Jersey, and the Posey Tube between Oakland and Alameda. IT is the first international vehicle tunnel and is the second-busiest crossing between the United States and Canada. Cars only - no commercial trucks - the tunnel is pretty speedy though not very scenic. I've been in tunnels before and this is the same experience though narrower than most. The tunnel is a single lane in each direction. We transited the tunnel from Canada to the United States this evening and it was a fast passage. There is quite good signage in Windsor pointing the way to the tunnel and plenty of warning signs along the way. On the US side, a customs and immigration booth ensures that you're legal to enter the United States. Expect a few questions, be honest, and don't smuggle anything stupid, so you should be on your way. As soon as you're past that, you're into Detroit. Lock your doors. Keep an eye out for the international border with flags of the two countries to indicate the exact spot that you go from one to the other. Welcome to the United States! Or, depending on your direction, Bienvenue au Canada! [Review 17438 overall - 318 in Michigan - 956 of 2022.]

The severe border restrictions (ostensibly because of COVID) had recently been relaxed when I decided to check out Canada. Then again, relaxed is a relative term, and particularly going to Canada, you'll need to do a lot of stuff in advance. I did the stuff and I didn't have any huge issue with border patrol when I got there. The tunnel itself requires payment by app, which one buys in advance and scans a code. This sounds cool, but it's a bit dicey in the sense that you can't download the code onto your phone, and I did not have the best experience getting wireless service either near the tunnel or on the Canadian side. The way it's built requires a lot of twisty turns and merges, and on the American side, it is a bit tough making the U turn if you are coming from a northernly or westernly direction. The Canadian side is a less built up area and I didn't have any problem getting around with this as my starting point. The tunnel was fairly narrow, which I guess does have the advantage of meaning that larger vehicles simply aren't allowed. It was predictable but aggravating that people would try to speed through such a cramped space, but even driving at a modest pace, you'll be through in five minutes. I don't know how bad the congestion is at its worst (when I was there was definitely not a bad day), but I was recommended by locals that the tunnel was faster than easier than the bridge (that is, the one that exists as of this writing; a new one is being built). I believe them.

I remember as a kid thinking it was so cool to see the "welcome to Canada" flag once you got to a certain point.

By this time, we are near Michigans border and I noticed the bus driver started driving towards an exit on the highway and he started heading east. I point out to my boyfriend that we started heading the wrong way without any notice from the driver. I look on my phone and we were now heading BACK to Ann Arbor! I overheard from a man sitting near me that we did indeed miss our stop and we're surely heading to pick them up. We arrive to Ann Arbor at 12:15 and everyone who now was joining the bus was livid from having to stand in the cold! I call the Megabus company and explained the situation. I was told I had to call when I arrive to my destination. I call, let it be know I had to call around five times due to lack of communication with the Megabus employees. I call when I arrived to my destination only to be told there are no possible refund methods, however I could get reimbursed with the money I spend for this trip on another trip with this company. I explained I don't often travel nor would I ever travel with them again. Such a huge disappointment to arrive to my destination three hours late due to a driver not paying attention to the road!

5 star service!!…read more Visiting a new city is always stressful. You have to pick a hotel, find your way to the place, and on top of this you have to do this blindly, not knowing the city. Thanks to the yelpers, I found Motor City Limo and called them 3 months prior to the trip to book the transfer to/ from the airport / hotel. A few days prior to the trip I get a confirmation email, and then on the day of the trip I get an email reminding me of my pick up. The only down part is, if you don't have access to email, you would not get this reminder. As I landed I got an email telling me my driver was on the way and a photo of Anton. Then I got a text message telling me he's at the Coffee Bean with an iPad sign. Total communication .. love it! He was so easy to find, and we had no communication problem. Anton was a great driver and guide. Our SUV was warm and he even gave us bottled water to sip on. Chatty but not overly chatty, and gave us tips on what to do in Detroit. I asked Motor City to allow me to tip the driver with cash, and I gave Anton a very generous tip for a job well done. On the day of our return we had "GG" and she was excellent as well. Bright and early at 7 am on as Sunday, she was chipper and friendly. She grew up in Detroit and told us how things have changed in the new Detroit revival. Just like our arrival, Motor City gave me plenty of confirmations and notifications, so I did not stress if my reservation would be there or not. Thumbs up to Motor City, and to Karen the gal I spoke to on the phone. Emailed me within hours, and they never close. Excellent, and recommend them!

I received a frantic call from my bride standing in front of the hotel where she was supposed to meet the shuttle to take her and the bridal party to the venue and there was no shuttle. I called dispatch in a panic and they didn't have an answer for where vehicle was. They said the driver had left on time an hour prior but was now MIA. The 30-person shuttle we had booked for 10 hours of transfer service never showed up. They eventually sent a small SUV ~6 hours after our service was scheduled to start, but that didn't help much. Rather than enjoying our wedding day, I spent the afternoon and evening trying to coordinate rides for grandparents, family members and other guests from the hotel to the venue and then back to the hotel at the end of the night. MCL has since refunded my money but that doesn't begin to compensate for the chaos they caused. I would not recommend this service for anyone planning a wedding.
