RE: Bait & Switch, Scam, Fraud by Devon Self Storage 'Devon Self Storage' is a nationwide storage company operating in the US. They have demonstrated over the last 5 years that their business model is based on deception of customers and fraud. I was then paying $54 per month, which included mandatory insurance costing $10 per month. In October of 2018 Devon raised my monthly fee to $59 per month, and in March 2019 Devon raised my fee to $64 per month. That is an 18% increase since origination - and in less than 2 years. Examination of Devon's accounting books by the Attorney General's Office would likely reveal that they intentionally structured rate increases into all of their customer accounts several months after service was initiated - not telling customers that these were planned from the beginning, and not a result of unanticipated increased costs of doing business. They smartly structure their customer encounters so as to treat customers graciously when they initially establish service - often garnering good on-line reviews. Devon initially grooms their customers just as pedophiles groom their victims in preparation for a later assault. Then 6 months later the rate increases begin. BBB scores for Devon facilities in the Memphis area are generally low - no wonder. This nationwide company has been scamming customers by giving them multiple incremental rate increases after they establish service. Devon's business model is fraud and racketeering. read more

I had to get a storage unit in May 2010, with 10 days to clean out the stock, furniture in a bldg. Cube-It, now Devon Self Storage had a 10x15' unit to rent, in climate controlled area. All the things to move got moved. I continued with this unit as I have no place other to store my stock.The current manager came in 2014, 2 yrs ago. No matter who else has worked there, Ms. Alexander has been more cordial and helpful than any in the previous 4 yrs.She is interested in the PERSON WHO is renting, not just for the rent. When I had a breakage situation,had to inventory my stock by myself, she came on her own and checked to see if I was OK. When the auto-timer of the lights quit, she got the lights on. I have no family able to help, but Sandra does. I started paying $214/mon & now 259 w insurance. This Devon site is the biggest one I have seen and the personal service is better than any other kind of store I trade with. I have never had any reason to complain about this store. I have some issues with Corporate on the ease of paying, and being even a day late ONCE, but never with the office since Ms. Alexander took on the job. Devon self storage bailed me out big time. I had a crazy schedule and had to move my stuff into a storage unit at midnight. The after-hours kiosk let me rent a place right when I got there. And when I had trouble figuring out how to get into the unit, I called the manager and she showed up in a few minutes to straighten things out. Sandra is amazing! She is so wonderful and is so caring. I have 4 units at the Poplar location and will continue to store here is long as needed. They treat you like family here and go out of their way to make your move so easy. I also just met Jenn who was filling in for Sandra one day and she was just as delightful as Sandra. I went to this location about a week ago and the lady I spoke with I believe her name was laqueta she was outstanding this was my first time ever trying to get a storage and she took her time and explained details on helping me find a unit that best fit my needs. I rent a U-Haul truck for work almost every weekend and the General Manager Sandra is the sweetest. She's always got everything together and is such a hard worker.
