This school is amazing and is everything I wished for in a school for my child! The teachers are so kind, smart and caring and the academic program is beyond what many other preschools offer. My son who is 4 years old started here at the beginning of the school's summer session in late June 2020. I had wanted him to transition to this school from his previous preschool because Devonshire Preschool had such a strong academic program. When I had visited the year before and saw the work the 4 and 5 year olds were producing it was amazing. They were writing 5 letter words, such as "piece" perfectly and doing math and science. My son wanted to learn more and at his previous school there was just a little too much free play, where it felt like the kids were just being babysat and not stimulated with learning and fun activities. When he started I immediately saw a difference. Even during the summer session there was a fun subject theme each week. During Paleontology week they excavated dinosaurs and dinosaur bones out of sand and ice cubes and learned about fossils. During Pioneer week they churned fresh butter and sifted through dirt to find gold nuggets. During Impressionist Art Week they learned about Piet Mondrian, Robert Kree and Jackson Pollack and made amazing paintings that look just like the artists' paintings. When he came home and showed me the paintings he was so excited and he even taught me about the artists. I only knew about Jackson Pollack. During Health week they learned about the different organs in the body with a fun "Pin the organ" on the kids activity. Hel was loving his teachers, the kids and all the new activities. The academic school year started in late August and by the end of September he could write the alphabet by memory. He soon started to learn to write words and by early December he was reading words. He is now reading full stories, writing four letter words, can count to 100 and write all the numbers up to 100 and is doing math (basic addition and subtraction) which is his favorite subject. During the academic year there are still a lot of fun creative activities the kids do. Last week they built tee pees with sticks outside and did an experiment with eggs and the colors they turn when you put them in different drinks, so you can see how different drinks may effect the color of your teeth. The school is health conscious and doesn't allow the kids to bring snacks with more than 8 grams of sugar to school. And yes with all this the kids still get to play a ton! My son has made some wonderful friends in the 7 months he's been there and we have made friends with a lot of the parents too. We even have been setting up regular playdates at playgrounds with some of them during this COVID pandemic so the kids really get to have fun with each other and be kids during this tough time. The school has been really safe during COVID. There have been no outbreaks. The kids are really good about wearing their masks and honestly my son who usually got a runny nose at least once a month and a fever once every three months when going to day care has not had any since he started at Devonshire Preschool. He is healthier than ever. The ownership just recently changed, but the new owners are keeping everything the same and really seem like a lovely couple that really care about the school, the teachers, the parents and the kids. Ms. Mercedes is great and the infant teachers are so kind. They use an app to track my son's eating, sleeping and potty times. They post pictures almost every day. My son is 18 months and he wakes up everyday excited to go to Devonshire. I can't say enough positive things about this school. It really feels like an extension of our family. I started my baby in the infant and toddler center. They have great arts and crafts, many learning activities and awesome outdoor play area. Ms. Mercedes is very sweet and flexible coordinator. She plans great weekly themes and has had creative visitors come by (ex. Fire department, Bubble Mania and Amphibians Show and Tell) Miss Shiri and Miss Jessica are very sweet and caring with the little ones. I can tell my daughter loved them since she would not cry at drop off and would go to them. They open at 6:30am and drop off is until 8:30am, perfect for working parents. read more

I'm just writing a review based on my initial assessment of Devonshire preschool, I haven't actually enrolled yet or put a deposit down. We called this place a year in advance of needing daycare for a 6M infant. When I initially called, no one picked up but Ms Meradith called me back and returned my call. They scheduled a virtual tour which was led by Ms Amalia who was absolutely pleasant. When we had our tour, we were informed that the school owners just sold the daycare to new owners. The old owners were looking to move to Texas (I think that's what she said), the tour was great and informative. They offer part time and full time for infants at different pricing. Students will also learn a bit of Spanish in the class. We also drove by this location to suss it out, it wasn't in the most pleasant area and drop off looked a bit sketchy but the staff appeared nice and warm. It is along a busy street and we have heard that the back area is not so nice. Overall the school was really communicative, the tour was great, but area is not so nice. Good that they offer part time and full Tim options. We are planning to put a deposit down to secure a spot. read more

The most positive infant daycare experience ever. Teachers send photos almost every day. My baby gets fun sensory experiences I don't create at home. The teachers advise me graciously when they think my baby would benefit from changes in diet or nap time -- like when she was ready to progress to solids and snacks. I love this entire team. My baby is so excited to go the school every day. The school initiated COVID precautions in a timely and thoughtful manner -- always keeping families in the loop with ad hoc emails. Thank you to these teachers for imprinting her in such a positive way that will affect the rest of her life for the better. We are moving to Canada so we had to say goodbye to the team, but man -- they are truly the "one who got away" for us. I love this daycare. Thank you guys so much. read more

Giving this dump one star is a very high score. Where do I even start. I am sure the owner will respond and say I am a mad parent and guess what I am!!!! But please read this so you don't get stuck in this god awful school. I was KICKED out of this school during Covid-19 for questioning the mask rule for my 2 year old. I offered advice and guidance from working at CHLA and hoped this would help. The owner took it upon herself to feel offended and kicked us out. Without notice and bagged my sons stuff in a trash bag and that was it. Let me start by saying that I have been with this school since he was 6 months old. Never had any issues. No complaints from teachers. My child does not bite. Does not hit. Not the problem child like some of the other kids that are still in attendance. Might be some discrimination here if you ask me. Being kicked out for helping? So for me this was very shocking. I have a long long list of things that I overlooked to keep my son with his friends and routine the same. But i am very happy to leave this place and the lack of administration that runs this place. The owner is a gossip and tacky. She speaks about parents to other parents. She told another mom that I am the problem parent. Unprofessional and disrespectful!!!! But I again let it slide so that my son can stay in school with his fiends. Looking back now it was not worth it. 1. There is a constant presence of drug deals happening in the alley of the school. There are NEEDLES in the yard and in the driveway. I personally found one and had to throw it over the fence. Disgusting. While waiting for the teacher to arrive in the AM a man on drugs came and was knocking on my window high! Not ok! Another mom's car for broken into! The owner did nothing. They stole her purse, wallet and phone. There was a car having sex outside in the parking lot. So many more incidents this is just the start. 2. The teachers told me that there was a drug bust during school hours and the parents were not notified. Hmm? Professional. ? I don't think so! When i addressed the owner about these concerns she was defensive and passive aggressive. She walked away from me and went into her office and kept telling me to go see the community rep that is trying to clean up the neighborhood. She literally pushed me out the door by going in her office and sitting down. She literally didn't want to speak to me. 3. The school is never opened and running on time. I have to constantly wait for the teachers to arrive and then while i wait for them to get their breakfast ready i sir with my son - doing their job and late for mine! The class room is cold and not ready because they are walking in with us. When you come to pick up the kids they are bundled up because she won't use the heater. So instead they are wearing their outside coats inside. 4. The rooms are old as hell and dingy. Nothing is upgraded. None of the funds go to repairs or upgrades. There are never any new toys. Anything new was donated by me! Where does the money go? The toddler room toilets and sinks are disgusting. Looks like it's been there since the building was built. Soap dispensers are old and barely work. Toilets are old and don't look very clean either. 5. The playground toys are all dirty. They have spider webs on them. The Gardner comes and blows the leaves in the morning and blows dust on all the toys that these kids then go play on. Gross! Not to mention they go outside and play when it's freezing! No regard to the kids catching colds. There is so much more I can go into more detail. Email me if you think you really want to go here because trust me you don't. My 4 yo daughter and 2 yo son attended Devonshire Preschool from January through July 2019. Both of my children, who are completely different learners, absolutely flourished from their education there. From the thoughtful teachers and their engaging lessons to the seamless communication with the admin staff, I would highly recommend any parent to bring their precious kiddos here. Outside of their incredible monthly themes, some of which celebrates diversity and empathy, they host many enrichment days. I mean...my kids rode a horse, got their hands dirty from the garden, and were made into a human bubble!!! The teachers even do a wonderful job capturing photos and sharing them with parents throughout the week! The only reason why we are no longer enrolled at Devonshire is because we moved out of state. And as we are currently searching for new preschools in our new home state, I can't help but miss the wonderful staff at Devonshire. Devonshire definitely set the bar high and I couldn't be more grateful for the experience. Because of Devonshire, my babies love to learn and I know they will look forward to their next educational experience with open arms. read more

I want to start off by saying that our experience at this school started off AMAZING. We started in the 'Infant I' when our son was 5 months old with Mrs. Ashley & Miss Brenna. For those two, I would give 100 stars any day of the week. We will be forever grateful that he was in their care after an excruciating and traumatizing postpartum / birthing experience. Come the new year, the school was an absolute, unprepared mess when there was an increase in COVID-19 infections spreading over winter break. Instead of making sure everyone tested negative before returning to school, they opened, allowed people in, and of course it spread like wildfire throughout the school. This was followed by weeks of on and off closures and a turnover of their staff. It was very obvious that the staff were unhappy and that made me very nervous. Once my son transitioned into Infant II with Miss Laura, everything really took a turn for the worse. This involved a transition to regular milk (not warmed up) & sippy cups. I followed the instructions given to me as to what I was required to send him to school with. Everyday, I received a "report" (if you will) of what he ate/drank, when he napped, etc. & everyday on that "report" it was communicated that he would drink milk at school. I was personally baffled, because we could not get my son to drink milk for the life of us. He simply refuses it at home, with grandparents, and out of several different types of cups. I would ask the teachers how they would get him to drink milk at school and would get nothing in return. No teamwork. So I had continued to pump, putting breastmilk in his milk cups and topping them off with regular milk and sending him off to school everyday. To make a long story short, I was informed that not only was my son not drinking milk at school, but that Miss Laura wasn't even offering it to him whatsoever. Understandably, I became infuriated. We spent 7 weeks in the Infant II classroom which equated to= 24.5 hours spent pumping at work, countless ounces of breastmilk, and 14 milk cartons being a complete waste. This was the last straw for me and ultimately we removed our son from this school. I am a Behavior Analyst & have been in the childcare business (ABA and such) for over 10 years. I have spent my entire career caring for children and truly take pride in my quality of service. This school is not being operated properly, not being managed properly, and the staff are not being vetted properly (one of them was working with the kids without a cleared background check and the school was just fined for that). My wife and I absolutely love this place! Our 6 month old started going here when he turned 4 months old, and he couldn't be happier. Our initial goal was for him to go three days a week, but he loves it so much, he's now going there all five days. The teachers here are amazing. They communicate with us via text, are open to suggestions, are super friendly, and send us pictures of the lil man. They're currently helping us transition him to two naps a day. We couldn't ask for more from a daycare. We highly recommend allowing Devonshire Preschool and Infant Center. 5 stars. read more

I have three sons, all whom attended Devonshire preschool and infant care through the last seven years. My youngest is about to complete his preschool work and set to start kindergarten soon. The staff have been incredibly helpful in his development like they did for my older kids. The staff is open and trustworthy and open working with each kid. We're going to miss them all especially Ms. Cynthia. She has been great preschool teacher to my youngest and has helped build a solid foundation for my kids to start kindergarten. It was good when we started but then things started going downhill (I hear ownership changed??) One of the teachers we really loved left and I started seeing a lot of new faces. Things started happening that made me uncomfortable. Examples: 1) I sent a lunch box with my 1 y/o, and they didn't feed her breakfast because (and I have this saved in text messages) , they "didn't see anything that LOOKED like breakfast foods". So yes, the lunch box was full of food but because it didn't look like breakfast food, they chose to just NOT FEED THE BABY until noon. 2) She came to school in a warm winter jacket cause it was 50s outside. I get a photo at noon. She's still in the winter jacket, and her face is flushed. She's inside where its warm and the teachers are walking around in t-shirts and it didn't occur to them to remove her jacket. She didn't show "signs of being uncomfortable" so they just left it at that (even though her face was flushed, and yes, I have the photo). 3) Few times I'd ask something, they would tell me "sure" and later I found out it was ignored/never done. 4) walked in once and they were all in front of a screen watching cartoons, apparently it was a movie day. My daughter is 12 month old, she doesn't need movie days, and they could have ASKED (screens aren't recommended until 2, and I don't want to pay a high tuition rate just for them to plop her in front of a screen). 5) When she was still 9-10 month ... I sent the amount of frozen breastmilk she would drink in an 8 hour span.... They only offered her half of it. It's not like they offered and she refused... They literally offered only half (the other half remained frozen and untouched). Ultimately, I found myself constantly wanting to check in. Was she fed? Is her jacket off so she doesn't overheat? Are they taking adequate care of her? I ended up pulling her out last month and placing her in a different daycare, and couldn't be happier. read more

This review is long over due. I have two kids in attendance of Devonshire Preschool & Infant Care. The staff is quite amazing, Ms Lorell and Ms. Sonja have my complete confidence at how well my kids were taken care of and how much teaching they do for my kids. Ms. Lorell is the administrator of school and Ms. Sonja is the director of the infant care. Ms. Sonja is amazing and always addresses all of my concerns and questions. She's very personable and a pleasure to speak with always. My first daughter started with the infant care since she was 3 months old and while it broke our hearts to leave her to total strangers at the time, they took such good care of her. The staff kept giving us strength and encouraging us that she is ok after we leave. I have stayed on the outside of the door many times so she doesn't see me and later we realized she was truly in good hands. My first always came home learning more than I realize she was ready for at her age and constantly surprised us every day with new wonderful things she learned while attending. She progressed rapidly as she transitioned from room to room and its amazing how fast they grow! There were times we actually had to drag her home. She loved all the teachers so much with lots of hugs. She learned words, manners, sign language What we like about the school is that all the facilities are gate locked and require code for entry AND exit. Additionally not only all the learning activities they taught our daughter, but the constant updates we get to help ease our mind she's doing well throughout the day. We can text and get status updates and we also get pictures on our phones. At the end of the day we get a daily report that shows us how much they ate when and how long they slept and the diaper changes and whether or not they had a bm. Indoor and outdoor activities every day (weather permitting). I occasionally stop by and hide behind the fence just to watch her play. The school gets disinfected weekly, and whenever there is an infection of one of the students. We get detail information of what infection kids were diagnosed with and what to watch out for. Shortly after we had our second daughter and again we were in need to have her sent to daycare as well. Without hesitation we also sent her to attend DPIC after 3 months. WOW what a difference from first child to second. We already knew what to expect so it was smooth and easy, however our second took to daycare like she's been there for months. Ate well slept well and we were good from day 1! They are always finding ways to improve and we are more than pleased to send both our children here. While this is already a long review there is still not enough things we can say about them. If I could give 0 stars I would. This is honestly the most disrespectful and disgusting preschool. I went a few days ago to take a look inside and meet with the principle and teachers to get an idea of what kind of school they are and was completely disrespected. I arrived around 4:00(just like they told me) rang the door bell and when no one answered I gave them a call(thinking maybe they can't hear the door bell) and again no one answered. I could see teachers inside from the window, but none of them open the door or answered the phone. I even left a voicemail letting them know I was waiting outside and i never even got a call back. My kids have been going here for 2 years now. I have since seen such a wonderful progression in them. All the teachers have been wonderful. When I'm at work I do not worry about them . I've seen great reviews for this school but I can't in good conscience leave a review without being completely honest. My son attended this school for just a few months and was part of the preschool program. What appealed to us about this program was that it had an infant program available for his younger brother as well. Ms Lorell was so sweet and we wanted to love this place. The teachers though they were nice, did not seem engaged at all, fine whatever. But the problem is my son was constantly getting sick. RSV, HFM, you name it. Yes, this is a given for preschoolers but my son was getting sick so often that I was scared to take him to school. The kids are let out to play in the playground for a looong time, several times throughout the day when they gather to have snacks or lunch, they all wash their hands in a single, SHARED BUCKET OF SOAPY WATER and a paper towel to dry their hands. When I asked them about it, their teacher simply said, "you know how much work it would be to have all the kids wash their hands in the sink after playing?" I am not a healthcare provider but I have been working at a hospital for 8 years and we all know that in order to prevent the spread of disease and thoroughly wash your hands you have to use soap and running water. Is this even up to code? My son would also hate going to school, which was strange because he loved going to his old school. When a spot opened up at another school up the road we were able to transfer him and it has been a complete 180 from our time here. I do want to once again reiterate that we wanted to love this place. They took us at a time when we were in a bind. My hope is that this review will either have them change their hand washing procedures, and that they will look into following proper sanitization and cleaning procedures for everything at the school. read more

From the moment we first visited the school, we knew this is the place for our son. Ms. Lorell took the time to walk us around and answer all our questions. The infant care staff is amazing. Ms. Elvia and Ms. Trish are two of the sweetest, most caring ladies I have ever met! The ratio of students to teachers is good and the facilities are very well kept. The classrooms are very clean and they are constantly wiping things down. I am so glad we found this place and am looking forward to watching my son grow and learn during his time there. The school's curriculum is fairly advanced and they make it fun. My kids love going to school & enjoy their homework. The school also have in-school activities like soccer class & karate class. My youngest child has been attending this preschool for going on 6 months now. He is 2 1/2 years old and this is his first and only schooling environment experience. He LOVES this school and so do I. My son did have to adjust to being away from me in the beginning (but what child doesn't have to). It took him maybe a month to completely adjust, which honestly didn't take as long as I anticipated given his age. He now enters this school all smiles every day. He gets so excited to see his new friends and his teachers/staff as well. He comes home telling me about his day sometimes and it's heart warming. Knowing my baby is content and happy at his school while I'm working speaks volumes on the treatment and care he's receiving at this preschool. He has learned so much within the 6 months of attending as well. My family and I are blown away with how much he knows now. The structured weekly schedules are wonderful. At the top of each week, I receive a weekly schedule in my son's mailbox that details the letters, numbers, words and story selections of the week. It also shows what activities my son will be completing during the week. There is also a Daily Experience Sheet that I can look at each day that I pick him up. It outlines what he ate, how many times he was changed or went to the bathroom and also what he accomplished activity wise for the day. I love the communication this preschool provides (in great detail) when it comes to my son's experience. His teachers are also very consistent with sending me photos of my son throughout the day. It's extremely thoughtful of them. I look forward to my son continuing here all the way through to pre-k. This review is for when my son attended Fall of 2016 to Spring 2017. He started attending at 1.5 years old and we love all his teachers on the infant side of the school. He took a fondness to Ms. Liz and she's great and really caring. He is hard to drop off and his teachers take good care of him and try to calm him down. He started going just half a day and then full time because we wanted him to transition with the least amount of stress. At the end of the day he didn't want to leave. They send plenty of pictures via text message so that we can see what activities he is doing. His infant class normally has 2 (sometimes 3) teachers for about 10 kids. There is no toilet on the infant side so if we potty trained him early there would be no where for him to go. They feed the kids sitting in a circle table and I've seen them feed the wrong kid the wrong food so if your kids have allergies I would be concerned. My biggest gripe about the school is the location (it's in an alley way and on picture day they had to take each child from the infant center to the main school through this alley) and the infant outdoor play area has a slope and for a new walker this could pose some danger. He has gotten sick plenty of times which I assume is normal for a child attending daycare but he also contracted RSV and was hospitalized in December. He also contracted hand, foot and mouth disease (there was an outbreak at the school) so he was out for a week. These situations caused my and my husband time off from work and yet we still had to pay the daycare. However, they did let us off for time in the hospital. When he turned two he (by law according to the school) had to be moved to the preschool side. Bigger play yard, bigger kids. They do a 2 week transition period where the child will visit the preschool side for some of the day. However, our son missed out because he got the hand, foot and mouth disease so he only had 4.5 days to transition. He spent most of the week at the preschool side. The preschool side play yard outside has large tree stumps which I am a little concerned about. And his class of 2 year olds only has one teacher for 10 kids. They no longer eat lunch inside but on a little bench outside. The classrooms also seem very dirty and not very well kept. It looks like everything should have been replaced a long time ago. The final straw that forced us to pull him out of the school was one morning during drop off my husband said that children were outside in the yard and there was no adult supervision and no adult to to found anywhere. Miss Lorell corresponded with us via email about the incident and was understanding as to why we removed him and said it is against policy to leave children unattended. Regardless, I cannot put my child in a school that leaves children unattended. Since he's been at the school he has come home with 3 accident reports, all of which say he tripped over his own feet and that's how he got the bump on his head. I'm not surprised since the play yard has a very deep slope to it. Overall I would recommend the infant side of the school but we are not impressed with the preschool side and so we pulled him out of the daycare due to concerns over safety and cleanliness. read more

As I was researching preschools in the neighborhood for my son to attend, after being lucky enough to have had my mom watch him for the first 2 1/2 years, it was a tough. Yet, when I took a tour through the school with Miss Lorell, I knew that this school was perfect for my son. There are a lot of good schools out there, but Devonshire Preschool is a great family and I love the wonderful things that are being taught there. Our oldest son started preschool at Devonshire when he was three, and our youngest when he was four months old. my son went to this center for 2 days. on his very first day after I dropped him I waited outside while he was crying hysterically for 20 minutes. I walked after 20 minutes and to my surprise he was left alone at a high chair in the kitchen while everyone else was in the other room. the teachers walked to him trying to calm him as soon as they saw me. TOO LATE. despite my wish I left him there hoping he'd get used to it. The second day, I dropped him off and waited in my car. after 45 minutes, kids were brought to the back yard to play. my son was standing in the corner crying. there were three teachers at the time in the back yard. two of them on their phones and one walking around but none of them cared enough to sooth an 18 month old baby standing in the corner screaming "mommy". read more

GREAT AT FIRST GLANCE...BUT LOOK CLOSER. This review is LONG overdue! I chose this place in 2012 after careful selection (so I thought). I got a warm vibe from the owner Lorell & liked the layout of the infant center. As a new mom, I didn't know what to look for, so I went off gut feeling. If only that was enough... I spent HOURS at the school: my lunch & break every single day for 6 months -- often popping in unannounced. This gave me a unique chance to observe the teachers in action. I saw every infant caregiver at one point or another. Fortunately, my son was in the infant room with Ms Elvia, who is AMAZING. Best teacher you'll ever find HANDS DOWN! She treats every baby with love & respect, as if they were her own. Unfortunately, she's the ONLY teacher I can say that about. The other teachers, & in particular DIRECTORS are not up to par. COUNTLESS occasions I witnessed both Directors leave children alone in one room while they were in another--or worse, let them roam outside while they were inside (or vice versa). I brought the concern up but saw little improvement. If anything, it made one more conscious of it in my presence; the other didn't improve at all. The middle infant room (8-18mos) is notorious for leaving babies in cribs or bouncers for prolonged periods of time. All the teachers are incredibly nice & I think that's why they get away with so much. Parents get a good feeling when they are greeted by smiling staff. But I'm paying for my child to be well taken care of...not to make friends. It doesn't matter how much I like you as a person; if you aren't giving my son the best quality of care, you're not doing your job. With that said, the teachers ended up being the least of my concerns. Although I wish they'd be better trained, make more of an effort & take a genuine interest (I believe Lorell doesn't pay competitive wages & that's why she doesn't get the best staff), my true concerns are about Lorell herself. Although she initially won me with her warmth, I soon found she's more concerned with making things look good on the surface, than addressing real issues. She ran away from every problem or concern that was brought to her attention. Here are just a FEW concerns I had: 1. My son was overfed once to the point that he threw up. Another time, he went 5hrs without being fed. 2. Rain flooded the baby rooms, with the infant side being the worst. It could have been prevented had the Director taken appropriate action. When Ms Elvia got involved, she prevented further damage & saved the day. Unfortunately, damage was already done...literally. To prevent mold & buildup, the carpet padding was removed & the carpet pulled back to air it out. The infants stayed with no carpet padding for over 3 WEEKS while Lorell battled with building owners over who would pay for the new carpet. In the meantime, babies were put in danger, with crawling infants exposed to flimsy carpet covering concrete floors. I suggested tumble mats to protect wobbly baby falls, but was ignored. 3. A teacher changed a baby then grabbed for my son to change him--with no gloves, without changing the paper or even washing her hands in between. I stopped her but later that day, the school announced an outbreak of Hands Foot & Mouth Virus (spread via bodily fluids). 3 days later my son got the illness. 4. Picked my son up one afternoon to find he had not been fed or changed in hours & his clothes were in a soaking wet heap on the floor. When I asked why, I was told they were not his clothes. I insisted they were, pointing out they were clearly boys clothes with footballs & he was the only boy enrolled at that time. Never given an explanation. 5. The very first day, Lorell praised the building security, citing it was of the utmost importance due to parents fighting for child custody (not to mention the entry is an alley frequented by transients and riff-raff). Despite all that, I frequently found the gate unlocked (usually due to parents not ensuring it was closed & at one point, it even broke & took DAYS to get repaired. It was left unlocked the entire time & when it was finally fixed, the code was posted on the gate for anyone & everyone to see. Umm, kinda defeats the point, right? I opted to stay home with my son till the issue was "fixed" but when the code was posted, I lost it. At that point, I'd missed 3 days of work. I approached Lorell to talk about my concern & she literally ran from me, saying we had nothing to talk about. When I insisted, she told me I should just remove my son from her school. That afternoon when I came to pick him up, they had all his things packed. Trust me when I say that this is not a bitter rant. I WANTED this school to work out. I LOVE Ms Elvia like family. I love how close this place was to work, but that does not make up for poorly-trained staff & an incompetent owner. Thanks Lorell! Kicking my son out was the best decision you ever made. This review is for the Infant Center. Our son has been going here since he was almost 6 months old and just wasn't getting enough stimulation at home. He has absolutely thrived at Devonshire with fun art projects, lots of friends, a safe and clean play space, and caretakers that take a genuine interest in his development and well-being. As first time parents we looked at a LOT of daycares (and were pretty terrified by what's out there), but we can not express how grateful we are to have found Devonshire and their amazing, caring staff! read more

I attended the pre-school when I was four years-old and 30 years later, I'm sending my child here! There's a reason this school has been in business for over THIRTY years, it's the absolute best. As a first time mom, I was anxiety-ridden to go back to work when my daughter was only 6 mths old, but I immediately felt at ease when I met Miss Eloisa and Miss Elvia. You can tell the staff truly cares for your children. My daughter is now 2.5 years-old and has graduated from the Infant Center over to the Pre-School and the staff and school are a second family and home to her. My daughter is already potty-trained due to the patience and encouragement of the staff. She knows her entire alphabet, can identify each letter and name an item that goes with the corresponding letter; can count to 20, knows all her colors, and thrives in music class and she's ONLY2.5 years-old! This school is not a glorified daycare, it is place where your child learns. My child is most definitely getting a head start on her education and I couldn't be more proud of my daughter's progress and I will be forever grateful to the staff of DPIC for giving us a safe and nurturing place for my daughter to go. read more

I have had a wonderful experience on the Infant Care side. I could tell that the staff truly cared about my daughter. She loved going to school each day. Recently, we had to change schools because of locations issues; but I truly love the school and miss it. If you are looking for a caring, nurturing, and safe preschool and a place where your child will learn to be ready for grade school, then Devonshire Preschool and infant Care is the place for you. The teachers from both the infant center and the preschool side are amazing with children. Everything is cleaned and wiped down daily to avoid germs to spread as much as possible. The children here are taught more than just their basic colors and numbers. They are taught addition, subtraction and reading(language arts) as well. All in a loving and nurturing environment! The communication between the teachers and the parents is also great! Parents get written daily reports on their child and the teachers overall are just very easy to talk to in case you have any questions or concerns with your child. I've sent both of my children here over the past 5 years. This school exceeds my expectations on a daily basis. The staff is held to a high standard and I can tell they truly care for the children and it shows in their work. They've potty trained my kids :) They have outside programs such as Mad Science and Critter Squad come put on assemblies for the kids. They put an emphasis on learning and I attribute a lot of my sons elementary success to his positive preschool experience. This is also a low-sugar school which is something my family really values. I absolutely love Devonshire Preschool. As a parent you only want what's best for your children and when I leave my son I know that he is in the best hands. This place is a clostrophobic mish mosh of tiny old dirty classrooms. This place looks like it has not been cleaned since the 1980's. Most of the staff is friendly except for infant room staff sargeant Elvia who was fired and then re hired after desperation from not finding anyone reliable to replace her. Some staff cover their tattoos while others put their hair up and flaunt them which is against the owners rules. The staff looks up lesson ideas on Google with no creativity added. In short this school is pretty battered and beaten and I would advise any parent not to send their infants there read more

I've been a member of the Devonshire Preschool & Infant Care family for 8 years. When I first found them with my daughter (9 months old), I had looked at a lot of day cares. I had to trust my gut since I didn't have any friends with kids yet. It was hard as a first time mom leaving my daughter with someone else so I could work. The ladies here were nothing short of amazing in helping me transition to being a working mom. They would send pictures sometimes to show me the fun things my daughter was doing and how much fun she was having with her new friends. It made me feel like I was still part of her day, and not like I was missing out on anything. They even let me face time her after her nap when i had to travel for work the first time. Once my son came it was an easy decision to have him attend Devonshire as well. My daughter left for kindergarten shortly after and I had a chance to compare how Devonshire prepared her for elementary school against the other kids in her class. I was so proud of the decision I made when she excelled to the top of her class. She knew how to read, do math, had the discipline to know when it was play time and when it was class time, and had already been in the habit of doing homework thanks to Devonshire Preschool. Now that my son is about to graduate Devonshire, he is ready with the same skills and disciplines to succeed as well. Our son started attending The Infant Center just under 4 months old. Since we were new parents, we were not sure what to expect and a little nervous at first. From the first time we entered the building we felt very welcome and our son was in a loving and safe environment. The teachers in Room #1, Miss Laura, Miss Nina and Miss Brenna are wonderful. Our son really bonded with them and they took amazing care of him. We got plenty of pictures via text during the day when he was cute or doing something cool and they sent home the most amazing artwork and infant could make. We feel that the learning aspect of their curriculum along with the socialization and play they do has really helped him develop well and probably taught him things he wouldn't have learned in other places. Now that he is one, he has just transitioned to room #2 with Miss Amanda, Miss Yasmine and Miss Kim. They are all amazing as well! Our son gets excited when I open the door to class every morning to see his little friends and teachers. Miss Amalia, the head of the Infant Center, is great as well and always available to help answer any questions we have. If you are reading this and weighing your options on where to send your baby, I have to admit, we were a little nervous at first based on some earlier negative reviews and also the exterior of the building. We have not experienced any of the things the negative reviews said, so either the center fixed those problems or the reviewers were a little off base on what was going on. As far as the exterior, don't judge a book by its cover, the center is very clean, secure and safe. I highly recommend sending your child here! read more

My son was in the 1yr old class for a little over a year before we made the tough decision to have to move him to a new school due to work relocation. After attending his new preschool for nearly 1.5 years now, I must say how much I miss Devonshire. His favorite teacher, Miss Christine was absolutely the most caring and nurturing person I've ever met. And the head of the infant center, Miss Sonya was always responsive to concerns. When he moved to the 2yr old class, we really loved Miss Amalia as well. I'm not sure if all these teachers are still around because this was in 2014-2015, but if they are, I'd highly recommend this school. They also did the cutest crafts which other schools do not really do. I was a little miffed about the annual materials fee at first, but I now realize that this fee enabled them to make such creative and adorable crafts that my son absolutely adored. They were also very sensitive to our strict "no sugar" policy, and gladly made them healthy snacks like fruit salad. It was a rough start since my little guy has separation anxiety, but I think they really hire quality people at Devonshire. If not for Miss Christine, I don't think I could have left him at a daycare. They sent me constant updates and text pics to assure me he was ok on his first week, and any time I asked for updates, they would text me pictures. That was so key during our first few months so I could be reassured that he was sleeping, eating, and playing happily. I know some parents don't want the teachers texting because it may interfere with their ability to watch the kids, but I always saw at least two of the teachers paying attention while one was on her phone. I'm not sure if they've since changed their policy about texting pics to parents, but I hope they continue to do so, because many first time parents are so anxious to leave their little ones, and those reassuring images are what got me through the day during the first week. (All other schools that I've interviewed do not allow teachers to text pics to parents). I wish we didn't move so I could send baby#2 there. read more
