The staff at the front desk are always friendly and very personable. Amy, Dr. Gatz's nurse is very responsive and so understanding of my crazy work schedule as I travel, and am gone for weeks at a time. I'm very picky when it comes to health care providers, and knowing this, Dr. Gatz has always referred me to a specialist who is exactly what I'm looking for. Went to urgent care for a sports injury to the arm and the nurse practitioner student kept asking…read moreabout sleeping on it wrong or leaning on the elbow for an extended period of time. Really unsure what her line of questioning was, as the injury was directly related to and happened DURING a high contact sport. It made me wonder if she was even listening. I won't go into the back and forth details of the exam but if I hadn't pressed for direction on treatment or recovery I would have simply gotten an "I don't know and go see your PCP". If my PCP could have gotten me in for an appointment, I wouldn't have been at the urgent care in the first place. The worst part about the experience was the dismissiveness of the student and the lack of professionalism from the overseeing practitioner. She literally walked out of the exam in a fit. Didn't even end the exam just walked out. I wouldn't recommend this urgent care unless you are in desperate need without any other options. The only positives were the facility was clean and both the front desk and nurse were friendly.

My parents see another physician at the same medical group and recommended seeing him when I returned to K.C. Instead I was given an appointment with Dr. Mahon, and I've been extremely pleased with the care he has given me. Encompass is easy to get to, if you know where to find it! The office is near 87th and Quivira. Marshall Drive is the western frontage road of I-35. Just turn onto Marshall Drive from 87th Street and head north -- the building is on the left and marked "Encompass". Making an appointment with Dr. Mahon has always been easy, and Encompass seems to be very good about being prompt keeping appointment times. I've rarely had to wait more than a few minutes to see the doctor. Dr. Mahon is very pleasant and personable. It's a busy medical practice, but he always seems to have the time to listen to what's going on and discuss the problem thoroughly. I've never felt rushed when I see Dr. Mahon. When necessary he's referred me to specialists, but on the whole he seems to be able to handle most medical issues I've had. Conveniently, there are X-ray, sonogram, lab facilities, etc. at the medical office, so you can have procedures done there without having to go somewhere else to have blood drawn or images taken. Encompass also has some other medical offices around the metro, and has an after-hours urgent care clinic for evenings and weekends located near 103rd and Wornall, which can save a trip to the emergency room! Dr. Mahon can also be reached by e-mail, and responds promptly, when necessary, which I really appreciate. All in all, if you need a good, caring primary care physician, I can highly recommend him.

They have a patient portal app that keeps all your records like labs and visits on record. Which is nice because all the staff have access to it so there won't be a lot or running around. They also post lab results for the patient to see. And... they call you and go over the results with you if anything is out of the ordinary. Getting blood work done is fast and easy. Don't have to make appointments. I am usually in and out in 10-20 minutes. They have been doing a lot of expanding at the main hospital location. I like the new offices. Much improved over the old offices.

That choice can cost patients thousands of dollars but they can't be bothered even though you have to pay out of pocket. That's not something that someone does who cares about their patients. This is a practice for someone who doesn't have health insurance and wants to risk huge medical bills. But hope that you don't ever need a diagnosis code - to transfer care, to get treatment at a hospital, to go on disability - because our country uses diagnosis codes as the standard of practice, so their lack of interest in spending the time is at the expense of patient well being. Why would anyone pay for a doctor who does not care about their long term well-being or having thousands of dollars out of pocket because the provider doesn't want to learn diagnostic codes?
