We arrived at 6:03 to celebrate my birthday had a group of 8 and were planning to paint canvas and have some drinks. I called in the morning to inquire about making reservations, but was told none were required. Called again when we were on our way to inform her of such, she said "fine" and hung up. When we arrived she was very rude and upset we arrived three minutes after six. I have never painted a canvas before but didn't think it would take us more than three hours. Your employee cost you a couple hundred dollars, a birthday celebration would of called for several glasses of wine.

South Park Pottery is so much more than pottery. Located at the north end of Front Street near the…read moreold main street, it has a variety of items including pottery, jewelry, crystals, bottled scents, fun collectables, and lots of South Park memorabilia from the animated TV program. We asked the clerk why the South Park characters are so prominent throughout the town of Fairplay. She said the town was originally called South Park in the late 1800s. It became a trading post and the name was changed to let traders know the town "played fair" when making trade deals. She said the South Park name continues because one of the originators of the South Park TV show grew up in the town and many of the characters from the show were people he knew when growing up. The owner of the pottery story has a son who is a big South Park fan. His vast collection of memorabilia from the show is available for viewing in the store's South Park museum. For a few dollars visitors to the Pottery store can enjoy looking through his incredible collection.

They have a large selection of so many different crystals and jewelry, and even hand made pottery that was all so nice I had to stop myself from buying more. My aunt even went and bought an amethyst geode for herself the same day and didn't know it was me when the lady working told her someone bought the same thing earlier that day lol. Everyone was so nice and helpful, wrapped up my pieces for me with bubble wrap and a box since she asked me if I'd be flying back with them. Very good prices for everything too, definitely a shop I'll have to stop in at any time I visit again.

Not only was the class perfect, well structured, and well equipped, but Anderson Ranch is just one of the most wonderful places to spent a week of vacation, while learning something cool and enjoying the Colorado mountains. The dorms a a bit sparse, but that isn't a complaint:-) Meeting very nice people, you wont spent much time in the dorm anyway. I saw the pottery people pull all-nighters all the time. It is just so much fun to do your own studies, watch others do very creative stuff (painting, wood work, pottery, etc.), and enjoy evening speakers events with truly inspiring Artists. They have a great cafeteria (with a delicious changing menu, always incl. a vegetarian option), a meeting hall, store with art materials and art pieces from the ranch, child care, and more. Each course had its own ranch house. Very cool! I hope I can be back soon, for another class.

First, it's a beautiful setting near Aspen. You can get good rates on accommodations in the summer, which is their low season or you can stay at the ranch in the dorms. The ranch is beautiful and the workshops are excellent. They bring in some of the most talented artists to teach ceramics, sculpture, wood working, print making, photography, painting and more. It's a place for creativity and exploration. Plus the food is good and the environment is inspiring.
