Had so much fun white water rafting with Timberline Tours! They picked us up right at our hotel, got us suited up with gear (helmets and life jackets required, windbreakers, water shoes, wetsuits optional), and then we were off to the rapids. The guides in our group were all super friendly and knowledgeable and made for a really fun experience. Class III rapids felt a bit like a lazy river for the majority of the float , which was a nice relaxing surprise. I hope to come back and try Class IV rapids with Timberline Tours! read more

Did a Jeep Tour with Timberline Tours who was easy to work with and pricing was fair. Ben Hilley was our tour guide (I highly recommend him!!) and we really enjoyed it. Ben knows a lot about the area, wildlife, flora and fauna, and did a fantastic job highlighting points of interest. He was also very courteous and safety conscious. Ben checked all our boxes for the tour: beautiful scenery for pics, finding snow so the grandkids could have a snowball fight, etc. We don't get much snow where we're from so finding some still lying around was a must. Ben went out of his way to show the grandkids (boy-4 and girl-6 - tough ages to keep happy and/or impress!) how to pan for gold, and even helped them "find" some arrowheads! Charlie picked us up at the hotel right on time. We had a wonderful day on our tour and he could not have been nicer. He provided a history of the area we were going to, while giving us a perspective of the impact on the community. We saw fields of flowers on the mountain tops that people say haven't been seen in over 32 years. He was informative about the plants & wildlife and treated us like friends. Ben Hilley, took us out on a Jeep tour. He was amazingly informative and interesting. The drive was really fun with the modified jeep. The back seat sat up higher so you could see over the passengers in front of you. It was like stadium steering. He was great at show casing the local flora and explaining the differences in the types of trees and plants. We got to see where the elk had chewed th aspen trees. He is great at customizing the trip to fit your wants. It was also really great to see the different sides of Colorado. It gives you a really good perspective of what Colorado is really like. He gets you out of the tourist areas and out into the real Colorado. read more

I booked a Jeep tour. When our guide picked us up, he asked us what we wanted to do and made some suggestions. We choose to go the Camp Hale route and it was really fun. When they say that this is rugged, they mean it. The moderate route is climbing a mountain on what I would barely call a trail. It was slow going and really, really rocky, but we got used to it fairly quickly and once we got to the top of the mountain it was worth it. Our guide knew a lot about botany and gave us some great information. I had an amazing time and I would love to go again. read more

So glad my family forced me to take this trip. I'm a big chicken and had visions of needing a swift water rescue. Having an accident prone 9 year old didn't help either. We were picked up at our hotel and met up with another two groups. We all traveled on a bus to get outfitted with windbreakers, life vests, helmets and wetsuits. Wetsuits were optional, I chose not to wear one, but I made my 9 year old wear one because she gets cold easy. Very nice bathroom at this stop, and lockers if you want to use them. Next stop was the "put in" and the last chance for bathrooms, but they are pit toilets. Quick lesson in paddling and we were off! We did class 3 Browns Canyon and even though I was terrified half the time, I really enjoyed it. Our guide, Kaja, was from Slovenia. She pointed out tons of things from mountain ranges to rock formations in the shape of animals. She seemed very knowledgeable about the river and I did feel safe. Like I said, I'm basically a big chicken, but in reality it was not that bad. We took a lunch break riverside, no bathrooms, so find a tree or bush if necessary! Lunch was filling, we had sandwiches, chips, fruit, popcorn and quinoa salad. Something for everyone. I cannot recommend this place enough, they took great care of us and provided a wonderful experience. I loved having a female guide, it shows my two daughters you can do anything. Kaja really added to the trip with her friendly demeanor. read more

My family just finished a great vaca in Vail. Timberline's rafting tour played a huge part in making the trip so special. My family of 4 includes myself my wife (not so outdoorsy) and two kids age 12 and 9. We were new to the experience and signed up for a class III rapids tour. The group leaders were Max and Dan and our driver was John. They were extremely competent, experienced, fun and funny. Max piloted our raft and took his time to make sure we had a great time. My son was pretty nervous going into it and came out the other side wanting to go again! All-in-all it was an incredible day on the Colorado River. Great family outing. Seth met us at the hotel and then spent a few minutes getting to know us, getting to know our desires and expectations of the jeep tour and then off we went. Seth was personable, friendly, knowledgeable and quite attentive. The scenery was spectacular. We stopped a few times to get out, walk around and simply experience the surroundings. My husband and I got married in Vail and spent the week out there honeymooning. We booked a private white water rafting tour with Timberline Tours. It was so nice because we got to soak in the views on the raft while our guide paddled for us. My husband jumped in the water and it was freezing! It was a blast. It wasn't a difficult rafting tour because of the fires that had been occurring, so only level 1 and level 2's were open. After the tour they provided us with snacks and waters. An absolutely incredible experience. Nate was by FAR the best tour guide we've ever had and Maddy did an incredible job as well. Nate knew the right size of boat we needed to have the most enjoyable experience on the class 3 rapids and also knew exactly how to instruct us to paddle so we got SOAKED and had a GREAT time. Honestly, I don't think we'd have had nearly as good of a time with a different company or a different guide for that matter. We had people with zero experience, people who have been on the rapids before, and a friend who can't even swim. Every last one of us had a great time. We had a group of 19 people from my company go rafting and wine tasting for a team building event. It could not have gone better. I worked with Lulu to plan it and her recommendations were spot on. The Timberline bus picked us up at our hotel which made things simple. The raft guides were personable and knew the history of the river as well. The wine tasting was a fantastic conclusion. Most of the serving was outdoors with a beautiful view on their patio but we did have a barrel tasting inside the winery. This was a five hour event and everyone had a great time! We went whitewater rafting on Monday, August 7th near Vail! We had such a fabulous time on our Class III trip. Most of us had gone on a rafting trip several years ago and had a less than great time (with a different company in another state). Our raft actually flipped over. I was nervous to go on this trip. We had a guide that was so knowledgeable and funny that he put me at ease. Peter "The Wiz" Gordon was the guide's name. Of the six people in our party there was also a first timer who was also nervous. She had a smile on her face the entire time. Peter made the trip so enjoyable with his stories of rafting, bungee jumping, camping and biking plus local fun facts and funny, goofy jokes. The only downside is we didn't get enough time on the river. We did the Shashone Double Thriller and while a fun run we didn't feel we spent a lot of time in the boat. I can't believe I'm only the second to review this place. Family, girlfriend and I are hanging out in Colorado right now - actually just returned from our rafting adventure. We took on a full-day class 2 & 3 rapids trip in the Arkansas river. For most of us it was our first time going rafting, and there was a slight nervousness in the air on the shuttle ride out to the Timberline HQ where we were to pick up our gear and get set to go. Every single employee that we encountered made an impression. They are all fantastically kind, but it's also incredibly apparent how much they love doing this stuff. They were all excited, and that got us excited, and the excitement replaced the nervousness. We got geared up and rode in the shuttle down to the launch area (I'm sure that's not what it's called, but that's what it is...) and met our guides and got some safety tips. Jesse, as a safety instructor, gave an entertaining and super informative talk about how to avoid getting stuck or knocked around too bad in the river if you fall out of the raft. Our group of seven was lucky enough to have CHRISTIAN as our instructor. I'm capitalizing his name here because if you are booking a trip you NEED TO MAKE A REQUEST TO HAVE HIM AS YOUR GUIDE. This guy is from Chile, and he seems to live on rivers. He talked for the entire three hour tour about the different places he works as a guide (I couldn't stop asking about stuff - he was so friendly). Overall, no one fell out of the raft, we got some goofy pictures, and had a wicked good time. None of us were left wanting for anything at all. A+++ read more

We booked a tour not quite knowing what to expect, but within moments of meeting Charlie I knew we were going to have an afternoon to remember. His enthusiasm for the area and its history was infectious. Very genuine, knowledgeable and easy to be around, which is really what you want when you're going to be spending a real chunk of time with a stranger. We'd requested views of wildflowers specifically and what we saw was so far beyond what we could have hoped to see; it was magical. We ended up at a vista that let us see for nearly 100 miles in most directions. It was breathtaking. I received a couple of emails before our trip and someone called the day before to remind us of the pickup. We were picked up at our hotel (very convenient!) and we then went to pick up our equipment and the raft. All the employees were very professional and it is clear they know what they are doing.
