Went for dinner on Friday with a group of friends. Large, crowded dining room. No real atmosphere. Had perch dinner. Fish was quite dry, like it had been cooked earlier and reheated. Huge mound of frozen crinkle cut fries that needed more time in the fryer. Tiny servings of coleslaw and baked beans, which were small and hard but swimming in a tasty molasses sauce. Sweet potato fries were on the menu but not served on Fridays. No iced tea, available only in the summer. Pepsi products. One person had pork chops that were way overcooked and dry. People who had salmon enjoyed it. A very forgettable meal for $18, will not be returning. read more

Tuesday night is wing night. Wing sauces are exceptional and nothing compares in the area. All the other food I have tasted there has been amazing also. Friendly service, but can be a little slow at times because it does get very busy. read more

Staying in the area for a few weeks, and several locals told us THIS was the place to get a steak. Stopped in on a Saturday night. Place wasn't too busy, we were promptly seated and our server was with us quickly. I ordered a rare ribeye that came with salad bar and potato. The salad bar was great! Fresh, clean, and plenty of options. My steak was easily the worst piece of meat to ever pass my lips. COMPLETELY unseasoned... No salt, no pepper, no seasoning whatsoever, but plenty of oil. Steak was clearly cooked in a pan on the stovetop. It was very thin, and had a crazy amount of fat (I know ribeye has a lot of fat, but this was too much). Hadn't been in a few years, stopped in last night when I heard they were open doing takeout. Glad I did. The Wednesday spaghetti and ribs special is pricey at $15, especially when you MUST tip at least 20% just because the poor server girl is probably struggling. So now at $18 out the door. But it was worth it, just by how heavy the bag was. The salad was just ok, the breadstick was awesome (give me 2 with my order!) and the huge portion of spaghetti and ribs will feed me at least twice. Could use a little less sauce on the ribs, but it comes off easy with a knife. Great food, great server and a place to come back to. Will try a pizza over the weekend. read more

Cool little bar/ restaurant. Sat at the bar for dinner. Good mixed drinks! I ordered the fillet with Alfredo pasta. Pasta was really good, steak was ehh I asked for it medium rare, and it was very rare. And the outside was burnt. Very odd combo. It was very chewy cut for some reason not sure if it was the way it was cooked or what. Bartender was very nice. I'd go back and give it another go. May have been an off night. Best fried chicken in M or in M! Salad bar fresh ingredients, beer cheese! Great choice for any night! After our 1,700 mile drive up from southern Florida, we stopped at Dexters tonight to unwind with some Bourbon, Black Widow Maker Beer and fried chicken. The chicken is moderately battered, seasoned perfectly and cooked up to temp but not overdone as most places do. Every piece was moist and tender. Highly recommend. Clearly a class well above the likes of KFC, Popeyes and yes, even Publix in Florida. read more

This place almost got a rating of 1 but my perch was so good when I finally got it that I changed my mind. One server was responsible for the whole room of tables-at least 20. Our requested water never came and our beer did come but was late. It did not matter as the food took forever. However it was hot and tasty and plentiful. The walleye was not as good as the perch and there was less of it. The plate included baked beans, coleslaw, choice of potato and 2 slices of rye bread all for $10. I love the pizza, that is never going to change. Their burgers are on the smaller side compared to other restaurants. They are never short of cute bartenders. Their Friday fish fry is average. Their salad bar was a little upsetting yesterday. Saturday if waterfront festival and we get there early for dinner to get yesterday's leftovers. Lettuce was brown. FYI-grease is NOT a flavor. I don't expect much from bar food...but it should, at least, taste like something other than the grease it was soaked in. The pizza is a soggy, cheese-laden mess and the salad bar is a joke. read more

The decor is early american salvation army and the place has an old greasy smell to it. The pizza is fair at best. Anyone giving this place more than two stars drinks too much to notice the food. But, a lot of greasy spoons make money. read more

Good food, other than the steak. Do not waste your money. It tastes horrible. I have given them about 4 chances and gotten it, always a huge disappointment. Fried in the pan. I could make something better at home in the microwave. Not what a real steak tastes like. However their pork chops are excellent, 2 giant pieces for cheap. Very good. Salad bar is excellent. Pizza is amazing too. So the food is great with one exception, the steak. Now, service is terrible. I have been coming her a few times a month for years and never get a nice waitress. Always have an attitude and it is like pulling teeth to get a refill. I hate paying at the bar also. The customers drinking at the bar give you dirty looks. They need to think of another way to set that up, not being in the way on the end of the bar. So Dexters, give your staff a talk on how to be friendly. And maybe have an actual hostess to sit you at a table, asking at the bar on a busy night makes me not want to go there, always treated like you are a burden. read more

on august 15th 2014 we went out for our once a week date. we are a retired couple and ussually go about 3pm. my husbands fish fry was very good. my steak was tough and the baked potatoe was pre cooked and hard inside. i also don't like plastic plates and they only put forks on the table. i put my steak in the oven the next day to soften it up. it was so tough i threw it away. the fillet was cut very badly. i was so disappointed. i just got out of the hospital after 46 days and i really wanted that steak and potatoe. we are on a very limited income so going out is a real treat for us. we won't be going there again. i tried contacting them through there web site to complain but could not find a way. what a shame years ago that was a nice place read more
