Be careful! This is a super expensive place just scammers! I was scammed into paying more than I should have! We just called to the office but the doctor's assistant is such a shameless liar! My surgery for 1 tooth extraction was on Friday, they charged me more than I should have, charged me extra for deep sleeping anesthesia. The surgery lasted about 30 minutes. At 9:04 am I went into the surgery room with the doctor's assistant (there was a monitor with the time right in front of me). I waited for the doctor until 9:30 am (when dr.Shillingburg came in, I looked at the time on the monitor again). A few minutes later I got an injection from deep sleep . They called to my husband at 10:01am so he could pick me up! I'm 100% sure surgery was about 30 minutes, maybe even less!! But the doctor's assistant lied so much that the surgery lasted 47 minutes! REALLY??? And she said the surgery started at 8:52am! What a shame! Omg ! Check your cameras before lying to a patient who trusted you! At 8:52am, I was still standing at the checkout, sorting out the bill you gave me and trying to add $3,000 for an additional service I didn't need, in addition to $3,313 for one tooth extraction! I asked for it to be removed because the bill was already huge! It was about 6.000$ ! CRAZY ! They are the most expensive in this area, but they turned out to be such scammers! 5 of our kids have had their wisdom teeth removed here. The staff has always been very friendly and professional and they've done a great job. They also bill your secondary insurance, which other places do not want to do. Dr Shillingburg performed the procedure on the first 4 kids. Our most recent one, just had her wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Castillo, and he was also great! I was not apprehensive at all, because I knew that if he was a member of Dr. Shillingburg's team he would have to be great too. Dr. Castillo personally called to check on our daughter the evening of the procedure and made himself available for any questions or concerns. The entire staff is wonderful. I had a tooth that cracked all the way to the root. It could not be saved. I was terrified to see Dr. Federico Castillo, Oral Surgeon at DFW Oral Surgeons in Flower Mound. I came so close to sleeping in and not showing up at 0715 for I am a great coward. But I prayed and showed up. Dr.Castillo who is from Nebraska was FANTASTIC! I did NOT shed one tear, bolt from the chair and best part NO PAIN. I requested local so I could hear and see everything. Cowards, FEAR NO MORE. Dr. Castillo is your answered prayer. And he put in an implant and I'll have a precious tooth again. I ate Frosty from Wendys, cheese, drinking water and just had lukewarm broth with soft rice. I will do warm salt rinse now. My mouth never bled. I have taken zero Tylenol. Dr. Castillo is THE BEST EVER. LOVE HIS TEAM. read more

Mislead - Called the office and asked if they do gum grafting and was told they do. They didn't mention Dr. Schillingburg only does gum grafting to an extent. My Dentists office even called me the day before my visit letting me know they are asking for my records and told me they are not a periodontist. (you would think the Dr. would have been able to look at my records to determine if he could do the work prior to my visit) I told her I am scheduled for the following day and if she could please confirm because they told me they do gum grafting. She called me back and said they do. She was not aware. During my appointment, they took two pictures, not X-rays (Dr. Schillingburg physically saw it in person which was better than an actual pic) that were not covered on my insurance and didn't inform me that there would be an additional charge and get my consent prior. Since the Office Manager said they check my insurance prior, they would have known in advance pics we're not covered. Dr. Schillingburg comes in and says he can't treat me and referred me to a Periodist. I was originally quoted a payment of $352, but insurance wasn't deducted. Imagine how shocked I was when my insurance covers 90% and I only had a deductible of $50. This was for pics w/o my approval and unable to help with a treatment plan and one less visit used towards my insurance plan. I complained at the payment desk and they removed the charges for the pics. I called my insurance and had this noted on my account so if others have an issue it will raise a red flag. I can't do anything about the visit payment because the Dr. did see me to tell me he couldn't do it. I hope I can help someone else from ending up in the same situation by writing this review. Be sure and tell the receptionist doing your paperwork that you don't want anything done that is not covered by insurance without your consent first and have them note that on your account. read more

I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Shillingburg and his professional staff at DFW Oral Surgeons. I had a badly infected tooth #18 extracted, as well as, extraction of tooth #10 which was extracted and setup for an implant. Dr. Shillingburg was able to do an immediate temp abutment so that I could still have a nice smile on tooth #10 while allowing the bone graft to heal for the permanent crown. This was important to me because I have a client facing occupation as a Software Training Consultant. Dr. Shillingburg kept in constant contact with me from consult to followup. He provided clear explanations about his diagnosis and suggestions for what options I have and what would be in my best interest. Chris from his office also kept in touch with me providing Pre-Op and post-op suggestions. She also comforted me explaining the procedures, helping with insurance claim and scheduling needs. Dr. Schillingburg is a complete professional. The procedure was quick and painless and he puts your fears to rest before going in. He alone deserves a five star rating. He and his team of nurses were the best dental staff I have ever encountered. Dr. Oneacre, less so. He was the emergency contact and considering people tend to have their wisdom teeth removed once, and surely I'm not the only patient with anxiety problems, he was the rudest person I've ever dealt with in the medical field. He insulted me for having questions that I'm sure are very common. Just a rude condescending p***k. The lady who does billing is also rude and unsympathetic. I told her what was keeping me from paying the bill right away (that I got six months later) and she might as well have said "Oh boo hoo. Eff your car accident, eviction and illness," and acted as if I was a child trying to run a scam. So make sure you get Schillingburg and really plan out what questions to ask him. Take notes. The quality of the final result unfortunately, in part, comes down to how well the work stands the test of time (when taken care of), but there was a lot of attention to detail, so I have high expectations. Spending thousands and thousands on a single tooth seems to be just an industry standard in the USA and is excruciating; I guess if you don't like it, hitchhike to South Amerika - they will do it cheap (you might die, but...). They worked with me financially to do the lab scan basically at cost, because halfway though the procedure, after most of it was already paid for, I lost my income and insurance, and every small savings counts. Unfortunately, they didn't take it literally when I asked, specifically, so this is the VERY LAST time I'll have to open my wallet in relation to this tooth, right? (YES). Well, it turns out I still had over $1000 to spend - immediately - to complete it, although the money was not spent at THIS practice, but at my regular dentist, Doris L. Woodruff. As far as DFW Oral Surgeons, I'm sure that the pending expenditure by the dentist to complete the work was overlooked when I asked that critical question. John and all of the staff that I met are beyond personable, the work, by all standards, appears top-notch, and the lab did a superb job of matching the color, making it indistinguishable from the choppers on either side. read more

This review is long overdue. I had my procedure back in Feb of 2015. It was two wisdom teeth extractions. I had put up with the pain of them for 8 years because my fear of needles and being put to sleep. Dr. Shillingburg and his staff helped me put my fear to rest during the first examination visit. I was so fearless, but as it always seems suddenly the pain subsides and it bought me many more months of not getting them removed. It wasn't until Feb, I had an intolerable bring a woman down to her knees pain that I remembered how friendly and nice the doc and staff was. So now it's an eemergency. They took care of getting me antibiotics and pain pills to prep me for my surgery. I was then nervous when I came in, but the good old doctor cracked a joke about his new glasses, that lighten the moment. It took less than a minute for both teeth. I was good to go. I left there with such relief and pain free that, I almost went out to exercise. There was minimum swelling to my face. The recovery was smooth. I highly recommend Dr. Shillingburg! He's such a great person and a wonderful surgeon.!! read more

I would not recommend for implants. I spent a lot of money and got nothing. I have since had three bone chips come out of his last procedure over the past three months. Since he did not bother making following up appointment after he pulled out my last of three implants that failed, I have had to go to another dentist to make sure it is healing up correctly.
