I brought in my Faja/ waist trainer that needed to be taken in, explaining that I was on the final row of hooks and did not want to buy the next size down. The tailor, Dmitriy was incredibly skilled and friendly. Without trying it on he knew he needed to take it in atleast 2" on both sides. The price was very reasonable and the turnaround time was less than 30mins. The final result was perfect. I tried it on to make sure he didn't need to take it in any further, and he did not! I was back on the first row of hooks!! I took it off and he reinforced the initial stitching to ensure there would be no tears. Great experience and a perfect hemming of a dress. My dress had 2.5 layers (there was an extra layer on a small part of the dress), so I was charged $95. I was going to be in the area a few days earlier than my scheduled pick up date and Dmitriy was kind enough to move my pick up to a few days earlier. The entire experience was quick and professional. I took a chance and bought an evening gown online from a retailer in China. Luckily, it arrived nearly perfect except for the length. As a short person, I'm used to having things hemmed or doing it myself, but I was not about to try to hem a gown myself and risk ruining the whole thing. Enter DG Alteration and all of its great reviews. Dmitriy measured for and hemmed my dress perfectly, including the train. He talked me out of taking the train off completely which made the gown look even more exquisite, even though many people stepped on it throughout the evening. Totally worth it though. Don't waste your time. Dimitri is rude and unhelpful. After calling, explaining that I needed a tricky jacket tailored, Dimitri had me come in for an appointment. Upon my arrival, he took two seconds to look at the jacket, did not even have me try it on, and said he could not work with it. I told him, someone had recommened him to me, that I had accomodated him by driving 45 minutes to an appointment, and that I had hoped he would look at if for more than 2 seconds or at least have me try it on. He shrugged his shoulders and seemed not to care. It was a very bad experience. Customer service was grossly lacking. I would highly recommend taking your tailoring needs elsewhere. read more

Like most people, I found Dimitri on yelp. I was willing to drive an hour for alterations on my wedding dresses. When I finally went to his shop, he initially said he wouldn't be able to fix the broken zipper on my one wedding dress because of the complexity of the dress. I was quite frustrated at first because I asked dimitri before coming into his shop. After expressing my frustration about how far I drove to get to his shop. He offered to take my dress to a neighboring seamstress who was better at such. The second dress I took to dimitri was fitted to perfection. Seamless alterations. I was pleasantly impressed. Price was reasonable. Review UPDATE*** I took a 3rd dress to DG Alteration, I wasn't too pleased with this service today. I went in to get the burst of my dress taken in as it was too big. Dimitri took it in as requested. However, when I fitted the dress, it was still too big. At this point, I expressed my concern and he initially said there's was nothing he could do about it even though there was. Finally he half heartedly did a 10mins alteration that made no difference. I paid $100 to have the burst of my dress altered and I wasn't satisfied with this job. I will still need to get this dress altered sadly. read more

I found DG for wedding dress alterations after my other alterations person went MIA. I was immediately drawn to the favorable reviews and could not be more pleased that I went with them. I got my wedding dress on sample and it was at least 3 sizes too big (4 sizes too big in the bust area). It is 2 pieces and a mixture of lace and beadwork with a structured bodice--not the easiest thing to alter. DG alterations was able to fit me in incredibly quickly (just one week after I called) and they had a speedy turnaround, conscious of my upcoming wedding. The first round of alterations was done within a week and the second set was done just days after the wedding dress specialist returned from vacation. They did an incredible job for a very reasonable rate and only charged one fee for the 2 appointments. I can't say how amazing the service was without giving 25 stars! I was in a bind with a $1000 suit that I bought that needed to be tailored. I needed more than just bottoms and sleeves, it needed the waist, seat, bottoms hemmed, jacket taken in, sleeves shortened, button moved. It was an extensive job and I wasn't worried about the cost I was headed to a funeral on Sunday and needed it done in a day. Needless to say, I was told no problem. I was skeptical but hopeful. My skepticism was knocked down the next day when I got a call early that it was done! I left that day with my suit and I can honestly say I have never had a suit fit so well. I normally don't get alterations but I had a dress that I needed taken in. I googled next day alterations and they came on there as number 1 so I needed it by a Wednesday and it was Monday so I called and asked can I bring it in on a Tuesday and he was like yup! They have parking in front of the building and it sits alone. They have about 5 alteration rooms in front he told my out it on I described what I needed he made better suggestions he marked in a about 2 minutes. He told me come after 3 the next day. I get a text saying my dress was ready at 12 noon so it was less than 24 hours. When I tell you that dress fits perfect!!! I was worried that it was not gonna turn out right but it did. I did pay more for the alterations than the dress was worth but I don't care it was worth it. I will only be coming here if I need alterations. read more

I came here because I had recently bought 5 new pairs of pretty expensive dress pants to update my wardrobe and unfortunately the size 30/30 were too long and needed to be altered. So needless to say having to get pants altered that had already cost me double than what I have ever paid for pants was giving me heartburn... First, let me say that good service is still appreciated, but great service has become rare. Dmitri is that rare exception. Too much praise? Not hardly. Just read. Last Friday night, I realized that I had not had my brand new tuxedo that I bought 6 months ago altered and I had an event this past Saturday at 4pm!. Making matters worse, I realized it at 5pm on Friday! (Ummm...yeah I procrastinated just a wee bit) I am scrambling around to find a same-day tailor/miracle worker and- thanks Yelpers!- found Dmitri. I called him and he not only did he say that he could do it, but that his shop was closing soon and yet HE'D WAIT FOR ME. I was at least an hour away! Who does that, right?!?!? So I was skeptical. I expected to get there, shop be closed, hopes be dashed, weekend be ruined. Instead, I get there well after an hour, given our fine traffic, and Dmitri is there as promised. He took my measurements and said that he would have it ready by 2pm the next day. Still skeptical? Me too? I asked how much, expecting to pay through the nose. Pants hemmed, jacket adjusted, shoulders taken in...less than half what other tailors charge for "express service". And here is the best part- he called me the next day to tell me it was ready at noon!!! Picked it up, tried it on- perfect. I live in Catonsville, but drive anywhere for good service. I would definitely recommend because of how fast I needed my suits tailored for graduation and also the price was reasonable. 43 suits to be tailored it cost me about $230 which equals to about $76 a suit. Dmitriy is AWESOME! I waited until last minute to decide I wanted a new suit for a Gala that I was attending on Friday. I purchased the suit which of course needed alterations to give me the "Tailored Look" I wanted. I found Dmitriy her on Yelp read the reviews and thought he would be a good choice! A GOOD CHOICE HE WAS! I took him my suit on Wednesday night minutes before closing. He was very knowledgeable and gave recommendations on how I could achieve the look I wanted. I also had a standard tie that I wanted altered into a slim tie which he also said he could do. Now the question is "when can you have this all done" to my surprise he said "I can have it done by tomorrow". This was music to my ears!! Top-notch tailoring and fast turn-around. I brought in my wedding suit that had been altered by, supposedly, one of the best tailors in Boston. The back/shoulders and waist didn't fit as well as I wanted them to. I mentioned a few problems with my jacket, and Dmitriy knew exactly what to alter, and (just as importantly) what not to alter the moment I put on my suit. I was considering making a few other changes, and he discouraged it because it would detract from the proportions. I got the suit back today (2 day turnaround!), and the fit is amazing compared to before (and it wasn't even that bad before, to be honest). He remarked that the previous tailor didn't really do it right because most don't know how (or take the time) to get at the structure of the coat and do it correctly. Very happy to know that he does, and it shows in the final product. I will definitely be going back with more suits, even though I have to travel a little to get there from downtown. read more

I tried them on and he took one look at me and said that there was nothing that he could do and that the pants fit me fine. Imagine my disappointment. This is probably the best tailor I have ever been to. I needed a pair of khakis and a polo altered and Dimitri was beyond friendly and helpful. I needed some last minute alterations done and he fit me in without any hesitation, hours before my appointment. I requested a quote at 1 AM in the morning and he replied instantly! Making an appointment beforehand is not required, but I definitely recommend doing so since their hours sometimes seem to fluctuate from what is posted. I also advise calling beforehand if you are interested in getting a wedding dress altered, since their wedding specialist is only here on certain days of the week. They are extremely easy to reach; I primarily communicated with them through Yelp and received responses extremely quickly. Their turnaround time is very quick as well; my dress was ready by the end of the same day that I had dropped it off. I found Dimitri through a google search. I had a complicated wedding dress issue that I needed to fix. Dimitri was unable to help me with my dress and I had to find a bridal shop to do make the alternations. Though from reading reviews I decided to tell my mother and my sister about him. My mother is getting her mother of the bride dresses altered by Dimitri, and my sister was able to get her bridesmaid dress altered quickly. I went back to get two everyday dresses altered with no issues except when Dimitri told me that the dresses were ready only one of the dresses were ready and I had to come back a few days later the pick up the other. He was very apologetic about the mix up. Overall I appreciate Dimitri's honesty about not being able to help with my wedding dress. Outside of the two mishaps, I would continue to go back to Dimitri for basic everyday alterations. read more

Awful awful awful experience! If I could give zero stars then I would. I don't give many reviews, but after my experience with Dmitriy, I needed to share. First off, when I arrived at my appointment, Dmitriy was so uninviting. When I walked in he was watching something on a tv or a computer and barely acknowledged that I was there. I shrugged it off thinking that it wasn't a big deal. Next when Dmitriy went to start marking the hem on my dress, he got angry that I didn't bring shoes with me. I informed him that I did not have any heels since I had not at the time purchased the shoes that I will wear with my dress yet. I, however, informed Dmitriy of the exact height of heels that I was looking for (3 inch heels). Then I went to pick up my dress today and everything continued to get worse. I was told that he would be open from 1-7pm today and to my surprise, the door was locked when I got there around 2pm. After contacting him, he called me back and informed me that he would be back in a couple of minutes. When Dmitriy arrived, I tried on my bridesmaids dress with my heels and it was WAY TOO SHORT. The dress didn't even touch the floor without shoes on. I understand that I did not bring heels to my original appointment, but Dmitriy was well informed of the exact height of heels that I was looking for to wear with my dress. Plus, when booking, it never told me to bring heels along with my dress. After this all happened, Dmitriy tried to blame me saying that I should have brought shoes. Good job blaming the customer when he was the one who hemmed the dress incorrectly. So now I am stuck running around trying to buy flats for the wedding that I am in on Saturday all thanks to a seamstress that hemmed my dress too short. And all of this without mentioning that he charged me $90 just to a hem a dress, which I repeat, was done awfully! Came into the shop, he took about a couple of minutes to measure and mark (mind you we just needed the sleeves shortened).
