We have had a difficult time finding reliable and professional handyman services (and general contractors) in the desert. We are doing a massive remodel on our home and there are lots of little things that need addressing that are too small for a contractor and even too small for a specialist. Dennis and his son, Dennis Jr. have shown up both times we've scheduled with them. He had been on time and communicates via text message with confirmations. In the rare instance there is something he can't do, he has no problem letting you know and recommending who you should call in. He resolved some shoddy framing work by a previous contractor, double-checked the electrical work (and fixed some issues there, too), as well as lots of other smaller jobs. He and his son are very conscientious and thoughtful and easy to work with. I feel grateful to have finally found them. read more

Ghosted. Responded quickly to my initial request and came to my house with his son to review the job. That was two weeks ago. Since then no response to texts or voicemail messages. Maybe the job wasn't big enough but have the courtesy to respond. Disappointed since when he actually does work it sounds like people are very happy. read more

Flakey. I have reached out to DI Handyman on two different occasions and was let down each time. The owner comes across as professional but, as many other reviewers have noted, he will drop the ball in the end. The last incident was to install recessed lighting. I reached out to him and explained the job as well as sent photos. He sent a guy out to walk the job and said he would get back to right after. The next day I call him to follow up. He tells me they are working on the estimate and I'll have it by end of day tomorrow. No estimate is sent. I send him a text to follow up. Text is ignored. I call and leave a voicemail. Ignored. I call again the following day and no answer. Over a week later and no phone call or text in return. The confusing part is that this company continues to advertise. I can't understand why they spend time and money marketing and then ghost customers who are ready and willing to pay for your services that you claim to offer? If you're too busy or don't want the job, just say so up front. Don't string people along and waste their time. My project is now delayed because I have to find someone else after they stalled me. read more

I recently made a prior arrangement with Dennis to move a small freezer and a sofa. This appointment was made several weeks in advance. I even texted him my old address and where I would be moving to. On the morning of the move, Dennis had texted me to "confirm" the move. Unfortunately, I was at work and not allowed to have my phone on my person at work. Therefore, I did not receive his message until 4 hours before he was supposed to show up. He later texted after the initial text that since I had not responded to his text, he had something else to do. When I did receive the text, I did message and called him several times but to no avail (note: this was several hours before the 12 p.m. appt. ). Dennis, please don't be an amateur and contact customers the day of the move. How about being more professional in your demeanor and attitude? If you do not want to do a job, just say so. Thankfully, there are other people who appreciate my value and my hard-earned cash-duckies. And THANKFULLY, my friends and family will not be customers! read more

Dennis nearly reno'd a entire bathroom for me. Took out old vanity, lighting, and wall mirror and installed new vanity, faucets, added lighting, and some flooring touch up. We had several things in the house that needed to be fixed. A shower that had no hot water, a door with a hole in it, a closet sliding door that didn't slide, a dishwasher with a clogged drain and two doors that were difficult to close and open. Dennis came right by, gave an appropriate estimate and went to work a week later. He was efficient, professional and knowledgeable. He arrived 10 minutes early and fixed everything under 4 hours. So when we found DI she was happy because it looks like they do EVERYTHING. So we called him and he said he would show up betwern 11 and 12 the very next day on a Sat. I was initially impressed by the fancy van. I have been stood up by several handymen in the area so I called Dennis yesterday, he suggested 2 pm today. He was a no show and did not answer the phone or multiple texts. I decided to call again and this time I blocked my caller ID. He promptly and cheerfully answered. When I told him who I was and that we had an appointment today he hung up on me. I call again and he said it wasn't him and he hung up again. Dennis advertises extensively on Craigslist. I found him there when I wanted to get two dog doors installed in our new desert home. My first phone call received no response to the message I left. I called back the next day, he answered and we agreed that he would come over the following day in the late afternoon ( his choice of time) to give me an estimate. He never showed and didn't respond to any texts. The next day he apologized by text and set a time that day to come out. He showed up, spent two minutes with me, gave me a very reasonable estimate and said he could come back the next day at 2 to do the job. Once again he never showed up and didn't respond to multiple texts. Seemed like a nice guy in the two minutes I met him, but the poor communication and failure to show up when promised is just too frustrating. read more

Dennis and Dennis Jr were very professional. We needed some electrical and plumbing work done. They arrived a few minutes early and announced their arrival. Dennis knew exactly what we had talked about and did not need reminding. He asked for the location of the work, made suggestions to make it cheaper for me. From the initial conversation, you can tell he was very knowledgeable. His son was also very knowledgeable and listened to his father's instructions. Both very very polite to work with. I used DI Handyman on a few occasions. I stopped using Dennis when I made an appointment with him 10 days in advance to finish a room where my sick father would stay for Thanksgiving. I confirmed with him again five days before. He still totally flaked - didn't show or call to tell me he wouldn't be here. Just pushed my job aside because it wasn't convenient for him anymore and was rude to me on top of that. That's not a handyman service. read more

My kitchen faucet was broken and leaking....Dennis went with me to Home Depot to get the correct replacement and then he installed it quickly. He fixed a door as well (and didn't charge me). My elderly brother-in-law lives in a manufactured home in Palm Springs and needed some maintenance. I called Dennis to repair a leaky kitchen sink drain (he unfroze the garbage disposal and tightened the pipes and that is fixed). I also asked him to check the door from the carport into the home which ceased to latch (he moved the strike plates for the latch and deadbolt and that was repaired as well). A toilet had been leaking so Dennis replaced the float and the valve and it works like new. He arrived on time in a lettered-van in which he stores extra parts. His invoice was reasonable. I found Dennis (DI Handyman) on craigslist. We purchased a suite of new kitchen appliances but needed him to install a new microwave oven/stove fan and a dishwasher. I interviewed another vendor from Angie's list. But when Dennis visited he just demonstrated a more comprehensive understanding of the details involved. The microwave/fan involved removing cabinetry and installing new a new cabinet followed by installation of the appliance. Dennis is a great professional. He was always responsive (be it email, phone inquiries or showing up on time). The installation was top-quality. As I suspected he did know the intricacies of doing a professional job. I highly recommend him. We've reserved him next week for some additional work! read more

I called this company and initially was happy with the quoted estimate to fix bathroom faucet (3) leaks. He fixed one just fine. The second one is leaking again, as the faucet is not shutting off properly. The third is all screwed up. When he replaced the cartridges, the handles did not re-seat on the valves properly. When I pointed it out to him he got very belligerent and said it was probably like that when he got here, which is absolutely not true. I told him I wanted it fixed and he refused, so I had to refuse to pay him for the labor. I paid for the parts and looking back that was a mistake as well. I would NOT recommend him, NOT use him again, and would suggest that you be very careful when using this guy. Take pictures before, and compare to the finished job. read more
