My primary care doctor (who had been closely involved in my recovery) reviewed the plan and expressed serious concern. Within just a few days of following the plan, I experienced a rapid decline in my mental and physical health, including severe depression, anxiety, and a resurgence of disordered eating thoughts. This was especially distressing after the progress I had made over the prior months. When I shared this with Kay, she adjusted the plan slightly, but it remained insufficient for my activity level and recovery needs. At the time, I was dancing multiple times per week, doing Pilates, and strength training, making the prescribed intake unrealistic and unsustainable. As my condition worsened, I asked my mother to join a call for support. She had been closely involved in my recovery and was trying to help me advocate for myself.
