Great cavern, informative guide, well structured. We had a small group, six of us including my buddy and me. I'm sure it must be tough to compete with MCNP down the road but if you're looking for beautiful formations, this place won't disappoint. It is a quick tour as the cave is not vast but quite beautiful. One thing of note is although the ground has concrete on the pathway, it is uneven in quite a few areas and one could easily stumble if not careful. (Nobody in our group did but I can see it happening.) Cute cave, pretty formations, and informative guide.

Well, I love caves. We were the first tour of the day in the middle of the week and got super lucky and were the only two people on the tour along with the guide. The guide was able to take her time and give us some history of the cave that she otherwise wouldn't have time to do on a regularly populated tour. Her words not mine. She definitely did just that. We got history of how the cave was diverted, why it is called Diamond Caverns, she showed the area people have to crawl in order to get to the third level which is where there is an underground river. There have been geologists and other pros that crawled through the hole and floated the river to see where it came out. This cave is still actively growing so you will get drops of water on you here and there. Anyway, the guide was cool and filled with knowledge. If you are into caves, I definitely recommend Diamond Caverns.

Just to let you know, they don't allow any WATER on 1 hour tour, no bags, nothing in your hands. I've had a headache and I've had to stay hydrated, they did not allow me on the tour as I've carried the water bottle with me , I did not want to leave it. On top of that they refuse to do the refund for the tour I did not even do!!

Kenzy was the best tour guide! She was patient, personable, humorous, and provided lots of great information. The caverns were packed with a plethora of geological features. I would rate this as a moderately strenuous tour because the steep places and stairs have helpful hand rails. While the length of the cavern is only 1/4 mile to the end and then back (1/2 mile total), it was a full experience because this cavern has SO much packed into the small cavern. Don't let the outside fool you - this is a great experience!

This was one of the many Cave tours we did while visiting Mammoth Cave this July. This one is tied for my top spot. Our tour guide Dallas was very informative and engaging on his tour. As everyone mentioned this isn't handicap accessible and there are steep steps in and out of the cave. I wouldn't say they're overly strenuous, and I saw people of varying ability levels do this in flip flops (I wouldn't recommend this. It is wet and slippery). This is a wet cave and we went on a rainy day, so throughout our tour the waterfalls started to get stronger and appear more places, which was cool to see. The formations are also vastly different than Mammoth Cave so it's a nice contrast. I would say this is definitely a "must do" if you go, but also a once and done kind of place. Also prepare to move quickly. On the way back, we all but sprinted because we were constantly waiting for stragglers in the back. You also can't get tickets ahead and they're first come first served. We didn't have an issue, but it was also kind of a crappy day. I could see it being much busier on a nice summer day.

-0 The customer service is beyond ridiculous. The service desk person handed my husband rules before he could even pay for admission. I'm a disabled person that needs water constantly. I can walk the distance but not without water. I need my meds in case of an emergency and she said no. This is really incredible that they are discriminating someone that's a pay customer based on their needs.

Excellent experience ! Our guide Courtney was a pleasure. She was Knowledgeable and made the tour fun and exciting! Definitely recommend

This was a beautiful cavern that we toured before Mammoth Cave, and located in the same state park. It is starkly a different style cave than Mammoth, and the style I prefer, all the glitz! Mammoth doesn't have these eye catching formations, it's just Mammoth sized. Definitely worth a stop for sure.

These "trees" have been a search of mine for years! And they're affordable!

Our guide did an amazing job explaining the history of the cave, including stories about Native Americans, Civil War connections, and the famous underground Cavern Nite Club that once operated inside the cave during the 1930s. Learning that people used to dance underground in this cave was something I definitely did not expect. The grounds outside the cave were also really well maintained with scenic walking trails, nature areas, and beautiful landscaping. Everything felt clean, organized, and family friendly. For the last couple years my wife and I have taken to doing cave tours. We've done several in the…read morearea and only made it to Hidden River Cave & American Cave Museum recently. Unlike some cave attractions, you have to make a reservation to visit Hidden River. It's easy via their website. Once you arrive you can check in at the desk and then tour the museum and gift shop before your cave tour begins. The museum is self-guided and is two stories' worth of exhibits. There's a staircase that takes you down to the lower level where you'll find just as many exhibits as their is on the main floor. Everything is presented nicely, well lit, and informative. Shortly before your tour begins your tour guide will introduce himself, give you a brief overview of the cave, and then do a Q&A before heading to the cave entrance. This cave tour begins by descending some steps. A Lot of steps. The opening is very impressive, and as you ascend you can feel the temperature drop. A brief pause at the bottom of the steps and our tour guide pointed out some of the machinery left over from various uses of the cave in the past. Then it's into the cave. I love cave tours because it puts you in a place that's nothing but history. They're made by nature, often hidden for centuries, and, for all intents and purposes, somewhere that man isn't really intended to go...but we're Mankind and we do that kind of thing. Once inside the cave there are areas that are expansive and areas that are terrifically narrow. I love large, open spaces underground. Sometimes you have to remind yourself that your anywhere from 50 to over 100 feet below surface. In a fashion, it's a bit humbling. At the same time, you have to remind yourself that you're actually below a downtown area. The suspended bridge was definitely a highlight of this cave tour. Cleverly designed and installed, I'd almost consider an underground wonder. A little further along you come to the Sunset Dome, and the farther point of your tour. The Sunset Dome is a beautiful space. I just had to stop and listen to the silence. Nothing but silence, running was from an underground steam, and the occasional drop of water from above (a cave kiss). If only the others on our tour would have been to appreciate it more. After the Sunset Dome you hit rewind and head back along the same path you just took on the way in. Back cross the suspended bridge. Then back to the bottom of the staircase....which you now need to walk up. And there are A LOT of stairs. It was tough, I'm not going to lie. I'm in pretty good shape and I had to stop twice on the way up. Once you're up to the top you have a chance to visit the gift shop again and purchase a souvenir or two. I don't recall our tour guide's name, but he was pretty good. He did spent a fair amount of time patting himself on the back, stating at least 4 times that how long he'd been doing these tours and how he considered himself an expert. Weird flex, but ok. It was still a good tour and I'm glad we were finally able to get to Hidden River Cave.

At times during the tour, I felt like I was in a seance, as she called out to "sweet spirits" and asked that they turn off the lights and such. I consider myself pretty open, but this was not what I was expecting. Patty and one teenage girl along on the tour too, brought ghost meters, which "picked up" several during the tour. The teenage girl and her parents were into it, but it just wasn't my thing. Reservation is done via phone. I tried several days to book the tour, the voice mail was full, but finally was able to get an answer the day before the trek. She said that sometimes there are large parties that show up and completely fill up the tour. So I went ahead and pre-booked our spots, which were $15 each. The tour started at Old Talbot Tavern at 8pm. I was surprised to walk up and see maybe 40ish people already there to take the trek too, so it's popular. It didn't appear that anyone was turned down though. We started outside and Patty talked a bit about her past and how she used to manage Old Talbot Tavern. Then we went in the tavern, and the upstairs Jesse James room. I had already been in there, and it's spooky up there, even in the daylight. That's where she started talking and trying to get the ghosts to respond. The amount of people on the tour was so large, that a few people were out in the hallway area. From there, we went into an upstairs room/conference like are where we were able to sit down while she dimmed the lights and summoned the ghost to turn out the light and communicate. The next stop was out in front of Jailers Inn and by that time, even though there was one more stop, we had enough and cut out early.
