I guess I just had my last trip to Diamond Espresso. As a loyal customer for almost a decade, we looked forward to seeing them again during our trip to the beach. We've always tried to support them as they are a small business and I know the owner does try to keep her prices low. I can't get over my experience yesterday, though. As soon as we pulled up, it was crystal clear that we weren't welcome there. The barista was in an obvious bad mood, you could literally feel the tension coming from her - no greeting, no how are you, no even looking in our direction when she barked out "what would you like?" while carrying on with folding a paper bag and putting it away. We had to repeat our order three times (a basic mocha and latte, no modifications) for who knows what reason, but had she been looking at us, I'm sure she would have heard us just fine. She was obviously irritated by our very presence, and it was rude and uncomfortable to say the least. My husband and I sat there in awkward silence for what felt like forever. Then, another customer pulled up to the other window, the barista again didn't acknowledge them, look at them, and we watched as they looked confused like maybe that window wasn't open. If you are the owner, the girl had long red/brown hair, a nose piercing, tortoise glasses, and a distinctive 8 ball tattoo on the back of her left upper arm. Her attitude is NOT a good reflection of your business, and not what I've grown to love when visiting your stand. I'm sure you'll get the same feedback from others, especially those who visited on January 2, 2025, and if you have cameras, I suggest you review them. I love coming to the coast in the winter. When nobody's hinging their vacation on the place and there aren't a region's worth of families descending on a few square miles just to eat candy and be somewhere 10 degrees cooler, everyone can behave like normal human beings and just interact with each other. The offseason provides this little espresso cart on the peninsula with some welcome context. It's a small neighborhood without the throngs of tourists, and everyone is stuck with each other through the bleakest portions of the year. This isn't a great place for performative politics or demonstrative monologues: It only works if everyone cooperates. So if someone's kid shows up in his hopped up early '00s diesel pickup with a punisher logo on it and suggests he's going to coal roll "the next prick from Portland he sees," he's going to get an eye roll and a reminder of just how many tickets he has on that truck already from the barista he's seemingly known for years. Your "Thin Blue Line" flag got you yelled at not because of who you think it supports, but for everyone it excludes. You got yelled at for being racist because these are the folks who live with the repercussions when some camo-clad knuckle dragger who considers themselves a Proud Boy sympathizer comes into their town and says/does something racist. It's the people here who are seen as the intolerant rubes while the moron flaggists from three counties out get to be as dumb as they please. Getting the occasional caramel latte or peppermint mocha here during the offseason is a reminder that Long Beach is a community, and it has to look after everyone within it. The baristas and staff here do a great job of laying down the law and reminding everyone that there are human beings who have to live in this place 365 days a year. If you're offended by their sympathies, sorry: Frappes don't care about your feelings. read more

Advised $13 bucks for two drinks okay fine I didn't see prices on the menu. Then I thought she would let me tip but no she said thank you with a smile bye. Now im back home and the transaction went through and she tipped herself. Im super annoyed, I like to support small business but really. I normally dont tip 25% for a quick coffee. I went around 9am on Monday, steady but not too busy. Very friendly staff and quick service. I ordered the fluffy drink half sweet and it was still very sweet. The barista could tell that it was still too sweet for me and she made a sugar free one to see what I thought, it was still very sweet but it was really nice for her to accommodate my taste. My husband got the coconut drink half sweet and it was perfect. Next time will make sure to get something that is less sweet. read more

Very uncomfortable experience with the Thursday morning barista. Placed my coffee order then initiated friendly small talk, asking if they were ready to take on the 4th of July crowd. She began swearing and proclaiming the flag is meaningless and hung upside down in her home. As someone with a large military representation in my family, it was very disrespectful. I've tried this coffee shop four times and only once did I have a decent experience. This morning I ended up driving away after waiting in line for over 8 minutes while the barista and a customer talked and talked and talked. When I pulled up they were taking and the woman in the truck in front of me was drinking her coffee. She looked back at me a few times and kept talking. My other experiences have been just as bad from a barista who doesn't listen and looks over you as you are ordering. Just rude and horrible customer service. Undecided between 2 and 3 stars For Long Beach coffee it's 3 stars, this might be the best you'll get here. The lady was so friendly! Altering visiting some other places here, this is a big deal. The coffee is okay/acceptable and it may grow on you if you're here for a few days. The biggest problem - they run their shots before they steam milk. So your shot is just sitting there wasting away, so sad! The best part - LOTS of Milk alternatives: Coconut, Almond, Hemp and Soy - amazing Price - to be expected $7.50 for plain lattes So far this is the best coffee we've had here... I have family in town so we visit often. I'm still trying to find a good coffee stand. This stand has no posted menu so you have no idea what you'll be charged for. They also upcharge without telling you. I ordered a 12oz and a 16oz coffee but was given a 20oz and a 16oz. I asked why I got larger sizes and was told "they were out of 12oz sizes." But I wasn't informed but was still charged full price. The coffee isn't the best either, I have to ask for extra flavor to cover the taste. I gave them so many tries but this last up charge was the last straw. Very shady. read more

I recently ordered an Italian Soda, when they handed me the drink the cream had separated, curdled and was floating to the top of the drink. This drink was not in any condition to serve to a customer. I asked for the drink to be remade and the girl refused stating that the Club Soda they use does that to the cream. I've personally made many Italian Sodas in my life and the only reason it separates and the cream ends up curdled on the top is if you don't add the ingredients in the right order. Either way, I asked kindly and she refused to remake it. I was a tad shocked and now I had a drink that was undrinkable. Once the cream separates and curdles, it no longer has a creamy taste at all. I had to go find another coffee stand in town. They make me a creamy Italian soda and were very pleasant. I've found my new coffee stand when I'm in Long Beach. Bummed that this coffee stand has declined in quality drinks and good customer service, I used to enjoy them. read more

Totally ripped off. My daughter was in the car in front of me and asked the barista to put her change towards my order which was about $8 and some change. The barista told me the car in front of me paid $5 towards my order, so she tipped herself, then charged me full price for my coffee, which I didn't catch since there weren't any noticeable prices listed. I thought it was spendy, but it's a little tourist town at the beach so I rolled with it. In total, she tipped herself the entire amount of my daughters change, plus got the tip I gave her. I've always been a little apprehensive about coffee stands: To me, coffee shops are a place to relax, chat with friends, or do a little work. Drive-thru coffee places rarely impress me. Diamond Espresso changed my mind. We were rewarded with prompt service, kind and knowledgeable staff, and an eclectic drink menu, including a 16-shot beverage even I dared not try--it was the Voldemort of drinks. Drinks came out promptly and pretty par for Washington-area prices. The drinks were amazing, with great flavour, consistency, and temperature. This was a stellar find, and whenever I'm next in Long Beach I'll be sure to revisit. read more
