Went to see the SpongeBob musical and it was beyond fun, cute, and colorful. Imaginative costumes creating jellyfish and sardine characters. Courteous ushers. Practical and essential snack bar which carries diamond head theater reusable bags featuring the play season headliners in the design. Can't wait for the 2026 season. My cat loves to get in the bag. Ample free parking. Still a wonderful gem for entertainment. Great value for the incredible talent.

Squeezed in a visit to Arendelle during my Hawaii trip -- Frozen the Musical, that is! I believe this was a local community production, but done so well! Didn't feel like an amateur or youth production, very professional, even the sets/costumes. Strong cast, singing on point. The venue was very nice! Comfortable seating, easy to purchase and decently-priced tickets online, great acoustics. Parking lot right across the street, and even a great view of the Waikiki skyline at night! The performance itself was very very good, especially the leads playing Elsa and Anna. Didn't purchase any concessions, but for this show they also had light-up snowflake wands for the kiddos to light up at a certain moment at the end of the show. Cute!

Frozen... Currently running from July 26th to August 25th is Dinsney's Frozen the Musical and at the last moment I got a chance to experience it all with the flair that I could never imagine. As I got the notice of an extra ticket I literally flew at the chance to see Frozen and who wouldn't as it was an honor to even be though feeling so grateful and humble I was basically speechless for this opportunity. Tonight was hosted by First Hawaiian Bank and I was so impressed with the selection of activities as there was photo booth, food, drinks and even shaved ice (of course!) along with Elsa and Anna who was amazing and stunning with us all, the vibe was a bright and festive with the theme as I enjoyed my "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?" drink swirling my rock candy keeping things cool. The play was just wonderful the performers along with the theater staff who notify in a fun and polite way of the time we had before the show starts it was certainly the night to remember as I never experience anything like it. Thank you for my invite I'm so thankful and enjoyed the night very much, time spent with quality is certainly well worth the value. Remember to support the local artist along with Diamond Head Theatre who knows how to put on a show and more...bravo! Thank you!

Diamond head Theater has improved a lot from the previous years with their new Theater. The seating is much better and more comfortable and the walk space to get in and out is wider. The restrooms are way more rooming with more stalls and sinks compared to the old building they had which the lines for the restrooms were backed up with long lines. The line of plays get better every year and fills up very fast. Wheelchair accessible

3-25-23 little sweetie's drama class presented what they learned on stage . The theme was a two person dialogue so each student was paired with a classmate. Only one pait had scripts in hand while the rest did a good to excellent job of memorizing lines and stage presence to be heard. The theatre holds several rows of seats. The theater is new with only 2 performances held. Do you believe all theaters are haunted?

Love, love, love this newly-renovated venue! The auditorium is so light & spacious and clean, and seating has ample keg room for those of us with long legs. We saw "Mama Mia" last night and simply enjoyed every, single minute of it. You could tell the performers really enjoyed what they were doing so it translated into a very happy audience who could sing along to their favorite ABBA songs. The singers voices were awesome, especially Alison Aldcroft, who played the bride's mom. If you haven't been to this lovely space yet, find yourself an upcoming performance you'd like to see and check it out for yourself.

Aloha, the newly redone DHT is beautiful. Great stage, sets and comfy seats. There truly is not a bad seat in the house. Nice lanai on the lee side of the theater to avoid wind and rain. Great access to nice clean restrooms and a nice cafe for a drink or snack. We saw My Fair Lady, great timeless musical. Easy handicap access. Awesome venue. Make your way to your favorite play or musical. Enjoy!

Diamond Head Theater has been a part of the Kaimuki community for many, many a year. What started out as a military theater for the Fort Ruger complex, it has been a long time location for Honolulu's performing arts, our community theater location. Quaint, intimate, cramped- the theater has been the home to popular plays, musicals and a host of other performing arts productions. Along the walls you have posters from past productions which give you a view of the rich tapestry of what has been available over the years. One can only imagine the enjoyment patrons have had watching classic musicals like South Pacific or more contemporary productions like Elf. In fact, the theater has just opened up (12/2021) again and their first production is Elf- perfect for the holidays. The big news is a new theater is in the making and anyone passing by the area can see it being constructed just mauka of the existing theater. It looks much larger than the current theater so it will be exciting to see what it has to offer. Support your local theater- Diamond Head theater could be considered the heart of the Kaimuki performing arts community.

This was our first time at the Diamond Head Theatre and we're already excited for the next show! I never saw their old theater, but the new one completed in January 2023 is gorgeous. I definitely see why they're known as "The Broadway of the Pacific". And for such a fair price, too! The staff were all so friendly and helpful, offering a true serving of the aloha spirit. You can tell everyone is happy to be there! We didn't get any food or drink this time, but from what we saw, their menu offers a lot for both young and old! Also, their sipping cups allow you to enjoy an adult beverage without worrying that you'll spill and mess up the aisles.

The instructors are really patient with the young children and make the classes interesting, memorable and fun. They are currently prepping the dancers for a spring program. Prices are typical for an hour long activity. We're paying $20 per session. They offer classes for all levels including adult classes. There is a nice waiting area for parents and they can sit and watch the children learn. A restroom is available as well. There is no dedicated parking lot and street parking can be a challenge to find. We parked on a side street.

She even acknowledged that the wording of her time-off policy was unclear. I wrote back 2 days later to let her know that we would come back in April, take May & June off, and complete our year commitment in July. She wrote back the next day, letting me know she consulted with other studio owners and made the decision to release us from our yearlong contract and reimburse me for the months remaining on it. I've attached our correspondence in March. I did not ask to be released from our contract for several reasons: a) I wanted my daughter to stick to her commitment to ballet, as she had promised when we paid nearly $1k for the year -- as a parent, we were deprived of developing her perseverance. b) We felt we should honor the contract, regardless of whether we agreed with it. c) My daughter liked her instructor (not Page), has many friends, and made many others in the months that she attended Page Academy. By ending our contract, Page also abruptly ended several relationships that my daughter worked hard to build. I still do not agree with Page's time-off policy. If I may make a recommendation (as I imagine Page will read this review one day), I think time-off should be allowed 4 weeks at a time wherever those 4 weeks fall. As it stands now, students take the calendar month off (from the 1st to the 30th/31st). But if a student takes December or May off, they receive fewer weeks off than other possible months (and some months have 5 weeks, depending on the day of the lesson). It would make more sense to offer a flexible 4 weeks off (therefore, 4 lessons off) that falls any time of the month. Since Page offers classes 48 weeks (12 x 4) during the year, it is fairer to let the customer choose which 4 weeks (aka month) they can take off. Instead, the current policy forces the student to take a "month" off when there may only 2 lessons held during that time. I hope I've illustrated the inflexibility, poor service & communication, and lack of consideration & care that I experienced during our year as a paying customer at Page Academy. Never should a paying customer have to wait 48 hours, much less 6 weeks (that is 1052 hours!), for a response. Never have I received such awful service. Absolutely horrendous. And please keep in mind that my daughter is 5 years old and has no idea any of this has happened. While I would have preferred that she finish the year, as she promised us and we promised Page Academy, I'm grateful my daughter hasn't asked about why she's no longer taking ballet. I'm not sure how I'd tell her that we were "released from our contract" (the closest definition I can think of is that we were kicked out or booted from the Academy). It's just really sad and disappointing all around -- all because of THEIR poorly-worded policies and time off that we requested that happen to fall during a "month" with only 2 lessons scheduled + inflexibility on prolonging my daughter's course so that her remaining 2 months could be back-to-back instead of piecemeal.

They work with kids as young as 3, I think and all with the patience of a saint - they can put up with crying, stubborn behavior, fear, hesitation, with a smile on their face and a heart of gold! And Ms Shinogu brings great discipline into the class and doesn't put up with nonsense but she does it in a way that is extremely nurturing and caring. She really wants to support all of the students to be the best of themselves. The Tumbling classes can be hard to get into so if you're interested in tumbling, sign up as soon as class registration opens. Ms Gina was very understanding when we were first starting and helped us navigate our way through the classes and now we're there 3 times a week. One tough thing is that participating in the summer performance is very expensive and somewhat cost prohibitive between the participation fee, costume fees, volunteer requirement, and ticket prices. However, dance students are not required to participate in the performance and can still completely participate in the regular classes! The one awful thing about this place is the parking. 1) there is a free lot (register for 1 hour free, after that it's paid) across the small street but it's so hard to find a stall because it's shared with a lot of other places, the stalls are small, and so many cars can't park within the lines, 2) they can ticket you, even if you have paid - they did rescind it but only after I took the time to figure out how to dispute it, 3) there are a few street parking spaces up the hill but hard to get, 4) you can park at the municipal lot but have to allocate enough time to walk across the street, and sometimes that lot is full.

Everything pink, everything delicate, everything gentle. I don't know where these hyper princess tendencies come from, because it's certainly not from me, but after two years of trying to make her into a gymnast I finally gave in and accepted that my princess wants to be a ballerina. We started off with a ballet class at a dance studio and after one month we left because my daughter didn't enjoy the classes. The instructor was very disorganized and I think she was disappointed that the girls didn't have a uniform they were required to wear. Enter stage right: Honolulu Classical Ballet. I found them on Yelp and after reading their great reviews I decided to reach out for more info. Portia their administrative assistant emailed with me and was so great at following up and getting me information. This is pretty huge in my book because I've found that studios often don't take their phone and email messages seriously. On her first day of ballet I took my NBP to her class on the 2nd floor of Ward Warehouse and it was like we were coming home. It's a small studio but totally cute and perfect for little princesses. My daughter can be shy at times so this is a great place to start her out. So far she's very happy with her classes and loves her instructor Miss Aya. AMBIANCE: Surroundings - It's not the most vibrant place, just a place by a lot of businesses and studios. You're not in the most lit up area of the town so be sure to be aware of your surroundings. The actual building is pretty neat as though it may be deceiving there are a lot of musicians practicing in their respective studios. It may be difficult to find but it's on the 2nd floor. Parking - If available you can park at the warehouse or if it's packed, check the 2nd floor. Customer Service - Lyanne is awesome! Creative, approachable, and patient. Great qualities of an instructor. TL;DR OVERALL 5 Stars. Though it was brief, it was a really fun session - the music was on point, the classmates were engaged, and Lyanne had great energy. House can be difficult to learn but with personal commitment and a good learning environment, it's good fun. Advice: * Tuesday - Beginners, Thursday - Intermediate * $15 per class * Bring water

Being a househead that I am, I was excited when I came across her studio. She puts you through good warm ups, and many, many drills so that you break down the movements and learn them accurately. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a fun, creative style of dance that isn't straight hip hop or jazz. House music=love.

The occasion of my visit was a day or so prior to a Halloween costume party, and I ended up waiting…read morein line outside of the Spirit for some time. I of course needed a Halloween costume and thankfully found costume material I could probably use for the next three years. I came in with an idea (be an angel) and I was able to pickup costume components (some wings and a halo) with that purpose. It was a steep investment to begin with, but I suspect it will pay off for the next four years. I wanted to note that their anti-theft measures included a sign posted up front carrying the classist (and arguably racist) statement that "Thieves are ghetto." Historically and socially speaking, this statement could be accurate when referencing the fact that people forced to live in ghettos are, by the nature of ghettos, socially disenfranchised and often impoverished, due to the forces in power. People who struggle financially often resort to whatever means necessary to get by, including forgoing any semblance of abiding by rules, (e.g., stealing). This makes sense because the rules in place historically privilege some groups over others, with violent consequences which led people to be in their dire circumstances, i.e., live in ghettos. So when we force people to live in ghettos and then ascribe their behavior as being "ghetto", we are simply perpetuating through language the state-sanctioned violence which pushes "ghetto" people to become "thieves". The person(s) who wrote and put up this sign likely did not have any of this historical or sociological context in mind, because this sign probably wouldn't have gone up here if they did. This is all to say, I find it tasteless to have this sign at the front of your store. If you have a shoplifting problem, you can address it without perpetuating classism and racism.
