Incredibly lovely theatre, great acoustics, comfy seating, and nice big parking spots to accommodate those 'yotas! The men's restroom was very nice and clean according to my husband. Husband and I rarely venture out past 7pm, and driving into town takes some serious ingestion of Stok and Advil. I was happily surprised to see Palikū listed as a venue for a Candlelight Concert, and on an early Saturday evening at that! Attending a Candlelight Concert is a wonderful ASMR experience: contemporary music adapted to classical form, venue illuminated by hundreds of flickering candles. Tonight's featured artist was Bruno Mars, performed by string quartet composed of musicians from the Hawai'i Symphony Orchestra. Set list was a little bit over an hour - the wonderful quartet nicely acquiesced to a hana hou. I hope to drag husband to more of these! read more

I consider the Paliku theater to be the most beautiful theater on Oahu. It is located on the Windward Community College campus with ample free parking in a large lot right next to the theater and adjacent areas. I saw the Phantom of the Opera at this theater about 6 years ago and just recently saw The King and I. They were both wonderful Productions. The theater is air-conditioned with clean restrooms located just outside. You must climb two or three flights of stairs depending on where you're sitting. On the second floor Lobby level there's an area for a reception. During the intermission of The King and I, there were soft drinks, candies and even red and white wine available for purchase or donation just outside. Be sure to reserve your seats early and the fifth row are the best recommended seats because it is the first row that is elevated and you have a partition in front of you to rest your program. No one is directly in front of you at your eye level. read more

This was my first time at Paliku Theatre and I was in awe how intimate the venue is. I got to see, "The Wiz" the stage look big but what kind of got me was how close the seats were. I'm guessing this is an older theatre so there was not much leg room. I happen to be on the 2nd floor and had a clear view of the stage. I had friends who had the very top and had to take the elevator. It was interesting how the rows quickly slopes up and that the height difference was drastic. I don't know if I could have handled that cause already the leg room was an issue. Aside from the logistics. The production of "The Wiz" was amazing the sound and lighting was spot on. I will come back to watch another show but I will probably sit center around the 7th row. I really shouldn't be complaining about the leg room cause it is a blessing that we have these venues in the islands. read more

Absolutely loved the play and music! A wonderful theatre in Windward Community College and probably the entire island. It's well kept, clean, and (most importantly) great seats in all angles. My friend reserved seats for a group of us and it was about $29. Not a bad price!! He checked in at the front - there were a couple of people sitting at a table in front of the entrance. Food was served outside but only water was allowed in the theatre. Restrooms are located on the second floor and the greeters were so kind to let me use the facility without a ticket. The staff are very friendly and trusting to their audience. As you enter through the front doors, there's an elevator to the left and stairs a little further up. There were two door greeters handing out programs. On the second floor, another greeter was guiding the guests to the theatre. As you walk down the hall, another greeter is available to help assist in finding the seats. The rows are labeled with letters and it made finding our seats easy. The acting and singing was outstanding! True talent! Including the musicians - a live band is rare to find. Very impressed with the entire production. I highly recommend getting your tickets early so you can reserve the seats that you want. read more

We were excited to attend "The Wiz" last night. The Paliku Theatre is such a great venue. We had great comfortable seats on the 3rd level. Row K to be exact. Great view of the stage and no problem of having to go in and out of seats for restroom break. There is a lounge on the third floor, a nice window view, an elevator for easy access to restrooms on the second floor. The show was absolutely amazing! Great musicals of song & dance performances. Such great cast by the I'm Bright Kid Foundation. Dorothy and the entire cast was Awesome as they captured the audience attention in the land of Oz. The Emerald City. Looking forward to many more performances there. read more

We came here over the weekend to watch "The Phantom of the Opera" and it was a wonderful experience. If you are planning to head to this theatre for the remaining performances, just remember that when you enter the campus, turn left to access the parking. If you turn right, you'll hit a dead end thanks to a construction zone (there is no signage to warn you of this!). The theatre itself is beautiful - it's very well maintained, clean, and every seat is a good one. The volunteers are all very friendly and it's like they are welcoming you into their home. read more

I really enjoy this little theatre nestled into the ko'olau mountain range on the Windward campus of UH. The seats are at a perfect pitch so that there really is no bad seat in the house. The third floor has a lounge area with couches and TV monitor to watch the show when your small children get restless. The sound system and lights are top notch. The parking is free. The bathrooms are clean, the décor is stunning (especially the wood sound absorbers inside the theatre walls), and the variety of shows offer something for everyone. Truly a hidden gem! read more

This is a review of Nanaue at Paliku. The play is written and directed by Moses Goods. It's a short story adaption of Nanaue, the teenage shark boy. This play has puppetry set within the storyline that makes the play super cool. The lighting effects were on point! This short 45 minute show is perfect for the family. Beautiful professional theater nestled as a hidden gem inside the University of Hawaii Windward Community College campus on the North side of Oahu in the Kaneohe area! It really is a marvelous theater! Nice, new, and beautiful up kept just like a nice, new fancy car! If you get to see a performance or play here, you're in luck for a great seating and a terrific audience experience! The school's (UH WCC) Paliku Theater link (https://www.windward.hawaii.edu/paliku/Events.php) might list some UH WCC school events but this theater is actually home of the Hawaii Children's Theater of Oahu (CTO)! Just print out your ticket to present on performance night! I found out about a Tom Sawyer play posted on Yelp Events so I clicked on the link to purchase a ticket. I programmed the event into my iPhone outlook calendar and anxiously awaited the evening event so I wouldn't forget to attend :) What a welcome and delightful discovery this has been for me! I arrived on WCC campus a bit early. I'd been on campus before in the cafeteria on the left side of campus and never knew about this theater. REMEMBER RIGHT-LFT-RT FOR PARKING! Drive up past the Kaneohe State Hospital. Then, take a right at the driveway at the entrance circle and drive straight to the end of the road, take a left, and a short way up, turn right into the parking lot. Park and walk across the street toward & thru the left side building into the Paliku Theater courtyard. The tall, unexpected (it was for me!) theater building is on the right. (See the details on the WCC map I posted in the business photos.) SEATING IS BY ESCORT I walked into the foyer and was greeted by a couple theater ppl. They looked at my ticket print out then assembled a group of us outside the elevator doors to take us up into the theater area. For the upper seat rows - Once inside the theater foyer, an escort will show you up the elevator, through the theater doors, and into the theater. Another escort inside the theater will take you down to your seats. For lower level seat rows - Out of the elevator, take a left, then a right down a long stage left corridor, and through a black curtained entrance on the left. Another escort will walk you up to your seats. WHAT A THEATER! Air-conditioned, plush, comfy, makes good use of the narrow footprint marked by its steep seating area that is accessible from two floors and puts everyone nearer to the stage (can see and hear everything better too!). Chairs are fluffy single-seat chairs. There's a short retaining wall in front of the first row that overlooks the orchestra pit to separate the orchestra pit from the audience (although I read another Yeep's review who said she and her toddler son sat in the first row and couldn't see, I LOVED my first row seat!). Other side of the first row retaining wall is the recessed orchestra pit. To the left and right of the orchestra pit are a small number of elevated seats. The stage is also deep and wide but is set inline with the first audience row, and has really nice lighting effects, plus, the acoustics are awesome. The sounds coming from the orchestra pit and stage are amazing. The view to the stage from all seats is terrific bc of the steeper angled wall of seats. Whoever designed this theater is genius! NICE RESTROOMS! On the way out from the seating are especially neat and clean restrooms on the way out to the elevators. CTO SNACKS ON GROUND FLOOR! The theater *might* have snacks for sale at their refreshment tables outside in the courtyard during intermission. At intermission, leave to the ground floor via elevator or staircase to the theater courtyard. Perhaps you'll know if there will be refreshments served during intermission if you see tables outside the entrance to the theater when you first get there. No food or beverages are allowed (to be eaten) in the theater but you can eat them outside in the theater courtyard. WHAT CTO TALENT!! The play was awesome! So many talented kids and adults too! These CTO plays are more for the development of the kids so you'll see more kids than adults but no matter what, the caliber of the acting, singing, and dancing is really good, energetic, up beat, and professionally performed! Adults are really more of a necessary evil (the kids are the focus!) if ya know what I mean hehe :) Now you know what this theater is like, don't you just wanna see a play here, too?! Yes this theatre is small. But the acoustics, in the famous words of Mr. Takei - 'oh MYYYYYY!' This theatre has a GREAT sound system, (I think some better than on Broadway!) I have now attended two performances at this theatre. They have a wide range of performance groups here, but mostly college age kids performing. Acoustics are awesome! Interior lighting works extremely well! Seats are comfy for theatre seating. They angled the seating so no one can cut your view off (unless a kid was put up on shoulders). The elevator does seem a bit iffy if it's going to operate or not. Last time going down we bounced a couple of times - don't think that's supposed to happen. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. A lot of the ushers are volunteers, so just be mindful of that when you attend an event. read more

So glad my bf and I made it to "Phantom of the Opera"...we got the last two seats on their last night because someone canceled. We almost didn't get to go since there was only one seat open in the "reserved" seating area, which was super close to the stage. We should have bought our tickets online, but they had sold out. We stood in line an hour before the show started and were very lucky that someone had canceled. Our seats were very good...I don't think there is a "bad" seat in the theater, even in the reserved seating area.. I could see and hear everything very well. It got kind of chilly, but I'd rather it be cooler than warmer in a theater. I hope that Ron Bright does another play here...I would definitely come back! read more

Great venue in a more intimate setting for about 300+(?) guests on the campus of Windward Community College in Kaneohe. The lighting and sound are great and the theatre itself is comfortable and well maintained! And there is an art gallery off the entrance that showcases wonderful pieces by students. We attended Hairspray, the Musical, and it was a roaring romp of a good time! The energy and music made me want to get up and dance! Pomai Lopez played Tracy Turnblad and she was absolutely terrific! The entire cast was truly an ensemble that worked seamlessly together. Another win for Ron Bright! Woo hoo! read more

Paliku is a wonderful theatre and before I've definitely subscribed to the popular belief that in this intimate setting "every seat is a good seat". Until tonight. If you are attending a 24-VII Danceforce concert absolutely do NOT sit in the front row. The front row should not even be available, you are literally sitting one foot in front of a high wall of solid stage and if you stretch your spine and crane your neck you just might be able to see the top third of the people in the upstage half of the performance area. Maybe. But mostly you will see a whole lot of crotches. I made the terrible mistake of buying front row seats for myself and my small 6-year-old daughter who couldn't see a thing. Fortunately, during intermission we were able to migrate to the second row, which was ten thousand times better. I could actually see the top of the stage and it began to look more like dance and less like flailing limbs. So yes, for a 24-VII concert never EVER ever sit in the front row. It will completely ruin the experience. Otherwise, I quite like this theatre. I've seen many amazing Ron Bright shows, choreographed a production of "The Wiz" for NHYPAC, and have many fond memories. The sound is good, the parking is ample (if the lot fills up there are many nearby) and it sits in such a beautiful setting. I don't care for the massive congestion in the stairwell when shows are over, Paliku could have benefitted from wide open stairwell vs. the fire escape stair thing they've got going on. Also, the seats themselves, while great for viewing, are extremely steep. Steep like if you tripped near the top you would probably not stop falling until you hit the bottom walkway. And you would be dead. Probably take some people down with you, too. Just don't wear stilettos. Okay then. read more

Located on the Windward Community College Campus, this ~300 seat theater is an intimate one. Be prepared to climb several flights of stairs to get to the upper seats or you can wait for the one elevator. Restrooms are only located on the 2nd floor. Every seat seems like a good one. I've performed with a cast and crew for over 12 productions here at the Paliku Theatre with an emphasis on movement and dance. One show in 2011 a storm caused the theatre to black out and a bit of rain to drip through the roof. It sounded as though the storm and dripping rain was part of the production's music. Kaneohe and the Windward side is known for rainfall. Talk about an event of God though. Overall, I enjoyed coming back here this year to be a part of an 8-show production by Prisma Dance called Creation that featured dance, music, spoken word poetry, acrobatics, aerial, beatbox, art, and more. Thoroughly enjoyed working with an incredible cast and crew. read more

I've been attending performances here for quite some time now. I think it's a great venue. Ample parking which is located just a 2 minute walk away. Every seat has a great view of the stage. Sound system is very good too. The reason I rated this a 4*, instead of 5... Not very elderly or handicap friendly. The aisles are extremely STEEP. There is only one elevator which is kinda a free-for-all. For example, when the audience starts to enter, people will just start to go into the elevator since its so close and convenient (and why not), but most of these peeps can just as easily walk up the stairs. Leave the elevators for those who NEED to use it. Besides, it takes a long time to go up one floor. Then who ever needs to use it but didn't make it in, gotta wait til it comes back down. Anyways... if you have something to attend here, by all means GO! You will not be disappointed. Aloha. read more

Wow! My first time to this theater was to watch 1776. Out of all the theaters I've been to on Oahu, this was by far the nicest. The seating, the stage sets, the lights and sound, all were excellent. I honestly would not of expected this from a community college. I look forward to seeing more products here with my girl friend. read more

How have I not been here before?! Located on Windward Community college Campus- this is a gem. Came for free concert by ukulele students with guest Amy Hanaialii. Small, intimate but very modern with great acoustics and lighting. Every seat in this auditorium is a good seat. I would caution that the steps are steep - so they can be a little challenging for older people. Bathrooms are clean. Lots of parking close by. Will definitely be coming back. read more

I have been to this theater many many times. Whether if its for me being in a show and on stage or if its watching a family or friend from the audience. The seats in there are amazing, you always have a fantastic view of the stage and of the performers. It may look small but once you actually start looking around you see that there a a lot of seats. The sound in the theater is just amazing. And it is a very easy stage to work with. There is 2 flaws I can think of. The stairs are very steep if you are walking down from the top and me being a clumsy person having to walk down the stairs in heels were quiet terrifying. Second, it can get very cold while watching so i would suggest to bring a jacket. read more

I went to this theatre because of an event with my Family to watch a show. The parking is kind of small so make sure to get there early if its going to be a crowded show. It is all the way at the end of the school so when you enter its to the right and you pass all the other parking, there are signs so its not that hard to find. But then you have to walk through a building then a courtyard area and the theater is right there. I only knew it because there was a lot of people outside of the entrance. This night started off kind of bad because my grandmothers coworkers who got the tickets didn't give everyone their tickets in order. So when we sat inside there was a huge mess, and then me and my cousin and two other people in our party had to stand. The ushers were frustrated and kind of snappy. The theater was really steep so it was giving me a headache, and it was small. Anyways the sound was good, most of the performers were good. I wouldn't suggest getting seats in the first 10 rows, I wouldn't suggest that for any theatre. It is just hard to see. Plus this one it is so steep that your basically upfront anyways. I had to go outside and there is this sitting area and they had a tv that showed the performance so I didn't miss the performance except its not the best quality but that was cool. It is really cold in there. The chairs are kind of squeaky so it was a bit embarrassing when I scooted over a bit in my seat lol. At intermission they sold snacks and drinks alcoholic and non-alcoholic for about a dollar or more, not too expensive. Also the elevator is super super slow but there are stairs. read more
