I also received a complete explanation of the process that would be used and the scope of the work, the material safety data sheets on the chemicals, and "Five Mold Myths" which really helped put the whole mold issue in perspective ("it's not the next asbestos"). The team answered all my questions, always returning phone calls in a prompt and courteous manner. As they did the remediation, they explained things step by step, and even though it was miserably hot I never heard one complaint. Between the heat and the old part of the crawlspace the job took longer than anticipated, but they never cut corners or rushed to get done - in fact, they had to come back the next day to finish because they wanted to make sure it was done properly. They worked hard, did a very thorough job, cleaned everything up, and the bonus was how polite and considerate they were. I would highly recommend this team!

From the very beginning, we were put under pressure. The manager who came to give an estimate told us it was basically "now or never" and that if we didn't make a decision right then, he would leave because he had plenty of other other jobs lined up. When you're dealing with water in your home, that kind of pressure forces you into a rushed decision without really understanding what you're agreeing to. The work that followed did not match what we were told or what we were billed for. The biggest issue is they did not even touch the utility room, which is where the water originated from. According to their own photos, there was no extraction, or drying equipment ever in that room which is something we didn't notice until after we found water pooling under furniture weeks later during putting our basement back together. That alone makes no sense for a mitigation job. They told us they would come back the next day to check moisture levels and water percentages. They never came. Then they told us the same thing again the following days. After multiple excuses, instead of ever coming back, they told us to just shut the equipment off ourselves. They still charged us for 4 days. Not only did we find pooled water still sitting under furniture and items on the floor, mold starting, and damage to drywall and studs. Water had also gone underneath cabinetry and the island, and none of that had been removed or handled. So weird.... that's exactly why I called a mitigation company to catch and prevent. They also left a huge mess in our yard for four days that killed our grass, after telling us they would be back the next morning to clean it up. And this was not just debris from our home. It was trash from brand new equipment they brought in and unboxed at our house. We were charged for retrieving equipment from another job site to come to ours, which clearly did not happen as we watched them bring in new equipment and open it in our yard, then leave the packaging behind. EVERY TIME we called the manager he was rude and would say "I'm working 16 hour days you're gonna have to wait." When we were only holding him to what he said he would do. We were also charged for other services we did not receive, including water extraction (we never had water extracted only drying... "after hours" work that took place around 3:30 in the afternoon, extended run time fees when it was there fault they didn't come back to get their equipment, clean up and debris removal (that they left in our yard, charges for the square footage they never touched, and charged us for full scope mitigation even though they didn't touch an entire room or take out the wood tack strip under the carpet. We were charged for 8 things that did not happen. A year later, we are STILL dealing with the aftermath. What should have been handled correctly the first time has turned into more work, more stress, and even more money out of our pocket! We trusted them during a stressful situation and that was a mistake. I wouldn't consider allowing them to do work in your home, but if you do ask questions, document everything, and do not assume the invoice reflects what actually happened. These people don't care about you, your home or your safety.

They put a snake camera in the pipes and located the jewelry. They tried to fish it out with a coat hanger but the jewelry was close to falling over an edge and being lost again. So the man, Terry was his name, exercised expert judgment and said we would do best to came at it from underneath, through the dry wall. He said he knew exactly where it was and we don't want to give that up. (This turned out to be a genius decision and may have saved our bacon). He called another man named Juan that came out to cut the dry wall and pipes. He said he was nervous but Juan acted with pure poise under pressure. I'm talking Jordan in game six. Im talking Tom Brady down 28-3 in the SuperBowl. Hall of fame performance from Juan and Terry both. He cut as soft as possible so the jewelry wouldn't fall down. They shined a light and could see it in the pipe. It was so close to the drop! I'm talking 2 inches away from falling over a cliff. They had the clever idea of putting a drill bit right thru the middle of the jewelry to hold it in place - I mean Terry was out here making Bill Belichick level game-time decisions. They then cut the pipe and for a moment we waited with baited breath cuz we thought we lost it again. But then Juan handed it to me. We cried tears of joy. By 8:30am Corbin and crew were already at our house with diagnostic equipment and a water damage mitigation plan. His team worked weekend days to get the work done quickly, and 4 days after we woke up to a kitchen waterfall we were all dry again. Of course, parts of our kitchen had to be removed and demolished to get all the air-moving equipment access to dry out the walls, but even the contractors coming to patch everything back up were impressed with how careful the Restorex team was to only demolish what was necessary to carry out their mitigation plans.
