Had my surgery done here in 2018 after being recommended by my brother and father who also got it done here. My friend also decided to get surgery with me and we were able to book for same day back to back. Scheduling was fine and so was all the pre-op and post op appts. Surgery was done on a Saturday and follow ups were always weekdays. The providers here and staff are all so nice and friendly. Very informative. The day of surgery everything went flawlessly and i knew exactly what you expect b4 and after. Highly recommend this place. I come yearly for annual eye exam and never have an issue making an appt. The only advice i have is make sure you plan ahead with trains/walking to get there on time. I always try to leave earlier so i don't have issues with being seen. read more

I had my LASIK performed yesterday. The process was very fast and easy. I really liked Dr. Stetson; he was very kind and has great bedside manners. I also love the receptionist who's sooo friendly with me. I'm shaving off two stars due to some other hiccups I experienced. I signed up for traditional LASIK (the most affordable option) . After my pre-operative exam finished, I was called back because they forgot to take some snaps of my eye (thankfully I hadn't gotten on the subway yet). Whatever, we're all human, so I let it slide. I thought the preop exam would be the stage where they tell me whether I'm a candidate for LASIK and the procedure I chose was ok. I was told everything was fine and I went ahead and paid the remaining full cost for the traditional LASIK. However, the next day, minutes before my operation, I get told that I'm not a candidate for the traditional LASIK and that I need interlase LASIK, which was a whopping 900 bucks more. That really hurt (my heart not my eyes) . I had already paid in full prior and at this point it felt like I didn't have much of a choice given that it was so close to surgery time. I'd be losing out if I cancelled completely. The fact that I was informed right before the surgery and not sooner just didn't sit well with me for some reason. While I understand my total quote is affordable compared to the national average (I used Qual sight, which works with your eye insurance company for competitive prices) , it was still a lot for me to cough up as a public servant. Anyways, the procedure was fine and doesn't hurt at all. Again, everyone is super nice over here. In addition to the surgery cost, you will likely be prescribed two eye medications that you have to use following the procedure. Make sure your insurance covers it or be able to factor that into your budget. Bye bye glasses and contacts !!! read more

They called me at 9:47 asking if I was still coming in and I explained that on google it said it was closed and I called 3 times to confirm. Waste of time and my time is money. I've been nearsighted all my life. I am exhausted of living with blurry vision. A friend recommended me to Diamond Vision. I made an appointment easily online, and consultation was fast and easy. Irina made me feel so comfortable and did not force my decision to go through with surgery. She just gave me all the information and answered every question I had. The safest option based on my results was to get the PRK surgery. I decided to go through with it though I knew it would come with a longer recovery time. What's a few more weeks compare to a lifetime of clear vision plus the prices are so reasonable. The day of surgery I was so nervous. Dr. Stetson made me feel so at ease. Everything I needed to do was explained throughly and clearly. The surgery itself was literally a few minutes and completely painless. Day1: I kept my eyes closed all day to avoid any discomfort and I was fine overall. Day2: my eyes felt sore and I saw blurry. Again, I kept my eyes closed and slept as much as possible Day 3: was the most uncomfortable day. Everything bothered me but the medicine provided helped a lot Day 4-5: no more pain- just light sensitivity. I was not able to see on the phone or computer for about a week and a half. So be prepared for that. 2 weeks later: my eyes don't hurt and I feel like I see regular. (However, I did start noticing small things I could see from far like words on the tv or a bulletin board high up on a building) This is week 3: I see perfectly clear! I don't squinch my eyes or struggle to see. I feel amazing. I'm so excited to see my official end results by month 3. But so far it's already the best decision I've ever made in life. Dr. Stetson and his crew are amazing. 5 stars are not enough!! Don't wait, it's the best investment. I wish I would have done it way sooner but I am grateful nonetheless. read more

3 Month PRK Post-Op Update: I just had my 3 month follow-up today with Dr. Kantor. Although my left eye was lagging behind in healing as of my last appointment, it has improved greatly to -0.5 and my right eye has healed to a perfect 0. I really appreciated that the doctor took the time to do these measurements as it helped to assure me that my healing is on track, and that both eyes were still improving. My left eye can now see a fuzzy 20/20 and my right sees 20/20. PRK has a much longer recovery time compared to LASIK, so it really is a test of your patience. After I told the doctor that I can see much better in my left eye after putting in some artificial tears, she evaluated me for dry eye and prescribed me some eye drops that will help to treat it. As I continue to heal, it is expected that any dry eye conditions will get better as well. Overall, I am still very satisfied with my experience. I'm hoping that my left eye will continue to heal from now until my 6 month follow-up. In the meantime, Dr. Kantor has definitely been super helpful and I am so glad she took the time to actually address some of these blips in the healing process to make it better for me. She also answered all the questions that I had with great detail so I could tell she is extremely knowledgeable in this field, and that she cares a lot about her patients. I had my Lasik done here a year ago. I looked around and thought this place had stellar reviews it was also reasonably priced. The facility is clean, the staff are polite and efficient, everything was communicated and explained well. You only meet the (handsome ) doctor who does the surgery at the surgery appointment but other doctors handle all the extensive tests and diagnostics and are highly competent. It's been a year and I went from not being able to see the person's face across the room and astigmatism to 20/20 vision in basically a day, that was last year but I waited to see if there are complications - thankfully I had none. My eyes occasionally get dry after I work on the computer too long but they get dry a lot less frequently than when I wore contacts. Do use the fish oil vitamins they sell - they are expensive but when your eyes are healing, just give yourself the best, it's worth it. I originally was told I'd need prescription drops because my eyes were too dry, I religiously took these vitamins and flax seed oil and used the moisturizing drops and my eyes bounced back in two weeks to perfect health. One tip: you'll need to fill your antibiotic RX and bring with you to the surgery. Mine ended up $200 after insurance, if this happens before you buy it, call the office because they can prescribe another antibiotic that can be a lot less expensive. Another thing to look out for is that you'll need to buy and use individual eye drops (can't use a bottled one due to risk of infection) - you can get them on Amazon and I used mine multiple times daily for the first few months. Obviously, no makeup for a few days before and a couple weeks after the surgery - so get it done in Pandemic so you don't have to worry about being cute at the office! They follow all guidelines and check temp at the door. Also if like me you only wear contacts, you'll need to get a cheap pair of glasses to wear for a few weeks before surgery, I got a cheap but cute pair at Optix at the Rockefeller but shop around. And don't forget to donate your glasses and unused contacts to a charity! Please don't plan on vacation right after - you cannot be near a beach for at least a month, as sand and pool or sea water could infect your eyes in that time period. You'll be very protective of your eyes right after - you'll be scared of getting any dust in as you cannot rub your eyes. It's a short period of time but also it pays to be sensible and not increase your risk of infection or any complications. Further, you won't be able to watch TV or do much the day of recovery - get a few nice books on Audible - I listened to Educated and I loved it though I usually prefer to read. All in all - absolutely worth it and I am so happy I did it. Yes it will require a little common sense and diligence to get the best results but you'll feel amazing suddenly reading signs nobody else can read. I highly recommend this place. read more

I got LASIK done at Diamond Vision in Manhattan two days ago. Really great, smooth procedure and professionally done. The doctor is fantastic at making you feel at ease. The first eye went smoothly, no pain and feels 100% perfect. For the second eye, the doctor clamped down a bit harder to the point where I did feel a bit of pain (this was just holding it in place to make the incision I believe, not the incision itself). The next day I noticed a broken blood vessel in my eye which was pretty scary for 20 minutes. I googled it and discovered it was temporary (goes away within 2-3 weeks) and normal. That eye was definitely a little sore compared to the other eye. Seeing as it is a temporary side effect I can't complain. Regardless, I recommend this place for their professionalism and my eyesight is perfect. I really recommend! read more

There are two parts of my review: (1) The actual surgery was great. I did custom for both of my eyes and now after 3 months, I can see everything clearly. During the procedure, Dr. Stetson and the assistant were telling me everything they were doing before they did it, so I wouldn't be kept in the dark or get caught by surprise. They also have a teddy bear and a stress ball for you to hold onto in case you need it. (2) Scheduling is terrible. First of all, they moved my actual operation time from 11am to 9:30am without telling me, because the Dr. Stetson had to leave early for his vacation. NO BODY told me that. Even when they called to confirm my time, it was still at 11am. But when I went in for the pre-op, being as anal as me, I asked the front desk to confirm my time again, and they told me oh by the way it's being rescheduled. I mean shouldn't you tell me my appointment has been moved? What if I didn't confirm with front desk, wouldn't that just mean I'd miss the procedure?? Also if you live or work nowhere near midtown, good luck scheduling post-op appointments. Apparently they only offer post-op appointments during the week, nothing over the weekend. Which again, was never disclosed to me. Shouldn't you tell me about this stupid post-op appointment constraints UPFRONT? Anyways, I have mixed feelings for this place. Dr Stetson was great and the procedure went really well, but to me a surgery is about the whole process, from beginning to finish (assuming three month check up is the finish line). Personally I think they treat you like second class citizen after the surgery and that's not sitting well with me. Try at your risk. read more

I made an appointment for a consultation and it was a rainy day and there was a lot of traffic. I called to tell them I'd be 15 mins late (as I was already halfway there in an Uber). The person I spoke to informed me that any appointment with lateness that exceeds 15 mins leads to rescheduling. I told her I'm already halfway there, I'm coming from queens, and had been traveling for about 30 mins already and she repeated that lateness policy 3 more times. I understand that an appointment is an appointment, but the least she could have done was try to be a little more courteous or understanding. I did not catch her name. I'm sure they do a great job here, but because whoever I spoke to was so insensitive, I cancelled the appointment because this is definitely not the type of business I'd like to give my money to. read more

Everything from the consultation to post-op and follow-up visits have been wonderful! I ask a ton of questions and never felt like they were annoyed or rushed. Actual surgery was quick and painless, as was the recovery period. The only annoying thing was that I had to use 3 or 4 different drops every so often (antibiotic, steroid, etc) so I had to bring a bag with me containing all of that everywhere I went but only for a week. It has been a little over 4 months and I'm not quite seeing 20/20 yet, but the doc says it's mostly due to having dry eyes because it doesn't heal as well without the natural lubrication eyes need, so I need to be really diligent about putting in drops and using a compress before my next follow-up. My friend was seeing 20/15 in 3 months so it's dependent on various factors. In general, I highly recommend getting LASIK or PRK at Diamond Vision. Really wish I had done this sooner. read more

I achieved 20/20 vision during the day in early 2018 but discovered that I had a lazy right eye. After doing eye exercises for quite a while it was then that my vision refined. Can't stress how important it is to listen to all of the advice that the doctor gives you. I still take eye drops for dry eye but doing so has likely helped me to achieve near perfect vision. However, at night I still suffer with awful night glare and halos, which apparently cannot be corrected. I was given drops for it but they did not work for me. All the same, I would highly recommend Diamond Vision for their caring and professional attitudes and vision results. read more

Do not entrust your eyes to Dr. Stetson. Two years ago, I got the most expensive version of LASIK that he offers, which I learned after the fact is quite outdated, and it left my vision far worse than it was with glasses. Initially, his office insisted that my vision would improve over time, but it never did. Now, they refuse to acknowledge that anything is wrong and insist that my vision is testing 20/20, even when I explain to them that everything is blurry and out of focus. It's had an awful impact on my daily life and my mental health. I am now back to wearing glasses to correct my residual prescription and I still suffer from dry eye side effects caused by the procedure. Please don't make the same mistake I did. Get your LASIK done by a doctor who cares about your outcome. read more

Had this done 1.5 years ago for my severe nearsightedness. Procedure was easy and quick, price was really great. I was back at work in 2 days but not without a LOT of discomfort. Recovery required lots of eye drops all day and even a humidifier at work for a few months which was a bit annoying. Biggest issue I have was that even after splooging for the more expensive "Custom Intralase" package, my astigmatism was never cured. So i have 20/20 now, but with astigmatism in one eye that is lowering my overall vision quality and that does not qualify for any "touch up" surgery. But overall, I'm pretty happy to never need glasses or contacts. read more

I went to Diamond vision last week to get PRK. I choose PRK because I suffer from Sjogrens - I mean I don't struggle because I have no symptoms from sjogrens- atleast not yet. However, I was trying to be proactive about dryness in my eyes. I was very nervous about the procedure but Dr. Stetson was so quick and even made jokes during the surgery . Literally took 5 mins! When I went for my consult- I met directly with Dr. Stetson which I liked because it just feels good to speak to the surgeon before the surgery. He is also easy on the eyes so that definitely helped lol. I did my pre-op with a different ophthalmologist- it felt a little rushed but nothing serious enough to complain about. Each appointment was quick- in and out within 30 mins. On the day of the surgery I was shocked I was in and out so fast and no pain! So just about PRK recovery- if you want to be conservative in your eye correction surgery go with it! It was painless the first day of surgery. Second day my eyes felt sore but nothing unbearable. Day three I woke with bad pain in eyes, but after drops I was good to go and able to see much better than I did before the surgery. By day four there was no pain or irritation! I was literally nervous about pain for NOTHING! Things are still a bit blurry but compared to my vision before surgery- this is a walk in the park! I will do a 3 month update but if you are considering Diamond Vision - Do it! And the price point was unbeatable in my opinion. read more

I got customvue intralase here a week ago and couldn't be happier with the results. I don't know what people are talking about with their negative reviews regarding the receptionist and what not. Every time I called to reschedule appointments (which I did A LOT), martitza was great and Ken, whom I had my consultation with, was very informative and honest. I did not meet Dr Stetson until the day of my surgery but they did a battery of tests days before when I met with their optometrist. Stetson had them redo some tests the day of the surgery to be absolutely sure everything was accurate. That was reassuring. I'm very particular that my doctor be human and have a good bedside manner and they all did. They made jokes and entertained my endless questions. The surgery itself was painless and Stetson and Ken walked me through it. I got a slight sedative to help me relax, a teddy bear to hold, and a blanket. The whole procedure took less than 10 minutes. My eyes were tearing a bit but I had little discomfort and went out to lunch with my friend that picked me up afterwards. I saw immediate results the same day and was good to drive the very next day. The only thing is that at night there are some halos around lights but with time it's supposed to go away. My boyfriend said he had the same experience with PRK and his night vision has stabilized eventually with no more halos or starbursts. He had it done at the same place 10 years ago. I have no dry eyes or sensitivity to light. Would highly recommend. read more

I got my Lasik procedure about 3 months ago and Dr. Stetson is a great eye surgeon and he isn't bad to look at either. Okay I digress! The admin team are so helpful and so kind, however the Doctors (other than Stetson) aren't so friendly. I've still given them 5 stars still because that's their prerogative. I went to do the surgery on a Saturday and received the interlace procedure, it's a little more expensive but so perfect. My vision is the best and my night vision is better than before with contacts and I have no blurriness or starburst. Dr. Stetson explained to me what the difference of the procedure I had vs. the base procedure and I never looked back. I say if you are ever thinking about this, go for it and diamond vision is where it's at. read more

Total professionals before, during and after surgery. I was actually most impressed with the follow up visits, as they gain nothing from them and it's totally for my benefit. Surgery was smooth with no issues. Elected for a touch up to slightly improve my vision. The touch up was PRK which is supposed to be slower to heal and perhaps even painful as they prescribed pain killers and gave me numbing drops. I didn't need anything. Overall I would say that my experience with Diamond vision was very positive. I got my PRK surgery done about 3 years ago and am very pleased with my vision. IT DOES TAKE SEVERAL DAYS TO RECOVER FROM PRK. It is not the most comfortable surgery to have but it is the more conservative option and it is what they recommended for my eyes. If they say you are good to do LASIK then you should consider it as the recovery time is minimal. No matter what you do make sure to do your research and understand all your options and understand the recovery process. I was not able to see clearly and was in discomfort for several days. Well worth it if you ask me ;). Anyway, the staff at diamond vision is very attentive and friendly and the surgeon Dr. Stetson is awesome. As this is NYC and everyone is really busy and running around it can feel a bit fast paced in this office. I guess what I am trying to say is that the experience did not feel very personable at times. However, the staff and doctors always made themselves available for questions. It did not bother me much I just felt like it was important to add. Most importantly, I am satisfied with the experience and more importantly with my vision. I got Prk surgery 8 months ago. My eyes are still in pain and I am a slave to eyesdrops. Pain wakes me up if I don't use eye drop 6 times a day. I was much more comfortable when I wore contacts. My surgery was performed at the Paramus, NJ location. Also, I waited until I healed before writing my review. I looked into Lasik surgery in late January, having a consultation with Ken. My surgery was in early February. Leading up to that date, I felt that the staff at Diamond Vision took great care with me. They answered all my questions and made me feel extremely comfortable about this quite stress-enducing procedure. Ken even went so far to say Diamond Vision has never been involved in a law suit. He also told me I would be completely amazed with the results and would be seeing without glasses or contacts the next day!! Ken was very straight with pricing as he assured me he was offering his lowest. This portion felt a bit like negotiating the price of a car, but I get he's trying to sell something. I was a bit annoyed that after putting down my deposit was when they told me I couldn't wear contacts for a week before my post-op appt and then my surgery, but they were able to schedule those appointments two days apart for me. I never met my surgeon as my post-op was with another doctor. That didn't bother me, but on the day of surgery, there are so many patients it does feel like an assembly line. Let me say, the surgery is extremely uncomfortable. The only saving grace is that it's quick. They only do surgery every other Wednesday in the NJ location, so maybe that's why so many people are there at the same time. On the way home from surgery, I had intense stinging and watering. It was so bad I was crying and tears were just streaming down my face. The only relief was sleeping. I woke up and could see; however, it was blurry. My right eye had a burst blood vessel, and both eyes were very red. My eyes were also extremely dry. Surgery was on a Wednesday and I went back to work on Friday. I had my post-op and I was 20/30 in my left eye and 20/40 in my right. It was alright, but I definitely wasn't too comfortable. The weekend goes by and same vision. Monday morning on the way to work, I noticed my vision had substantially deteriorated. I was driving and all the signs were extremely blurry. I was completely freaked out, so I called the doc. She said it was normal to revert back a bit, but I was still so scared. I had another post-op scheduled for that Wednesday, so I suffered through. At the post-op, my left eye was now 20/50 and my right was 20/40. Also, I had severe dryness. I was using the natural tears every few minutes. The post-op doctor told me I should be seeing fine and I was an "enigma." But I wasn't! She also told me to give it time. I was still so scared I paid $150 out of pocket to see my own eye doctor. He prescribed Restaisis for severe dryness. It wasn't until a 3 full weeks after surgery that my vision restored and dryness decreased. So, why 3 stars? I am extremely happy with my results; however, I feel completely mislead and mishandled. Diamond Vision should not be telling people they will see the next day when I was miserable for 3 weeks. I started with a -8 in both eyes, so I get it. They took a lot of tissue from my corneas, so it took longer to heal. But, that's not what I was told, and I felt the panic and fear I felt afterward could have been avoided if they were straight with me. I also would have waited until I could take some time off work to heal. I hope my review helps some of you considering this surgery. If you find a practice that is honest and forthright about the healing process, I would go with them. read more

Performing microscopic surgery they made me feel like the most complicated question there was to decide which distracting toy to choose while operating so gently and with all care of the world, whistling some vivid motive. When I attempted to call to schedule an appointment, the receptionist was so rude and probably thought I was cheap. Nonetheless, I was so upset and I called a couple of different times hoping that the receptionist had a bad day, but no, it was a total of 3 pretty rude receptionists. Furthermore, I found out that people who writes a positive review they actually get a gift for doing so. This place only wants your money! At first, during my initial consult, everything went smoothly. Everyone was very professional and Kenneth was fantastic. He ran a few test on me and mapped my eye. He clearly stated that I am the perfect candidate for Lasik surgery and if I wanted, I could also opt for PRK since my cornea is very thick. Because this was my first Lasik consult, I was unaware of many things such as the condition of my eyes and what not. So, before I decide to book another appointment, I decided to confirm with an Optometrist if I should proceed with the surgery. Right when I went to see an Optometrist (using the exact highest form of technology to map my eye as Diamond Vision), she put her foot down and said I have a cornea disease known as keratoconus and because of that, I am not a candidate of Lasik/PRK. After doing some research online, they all concluded that patient who has keratoconus should NOT do any lasik surgery. With that being said, I don't understand why Diamond Vision (Kenneth) didn't tell me any of this information. He clearly mapped my eye and ran multiple test on me just like the Optometrist. Either they really want the money or Kenneth does not really know what "keratoconus" are. If that's the case, then he shouldn't be the one consulting patients. Don't get me wrong, I know two people who had Lasik performed at Diamond Vision and their results were phenomenal. I guess they didn't suffer from keratoconus. However, what I'm stating is that even if you're not a good candidate, they will convince you that you are. So before you proceed with the surgery, please go see an optometrist/opthamologist to make sure you are the right candidate. I was very close to lose my vision! I would highly stay away from this place. If you really want a doctor who cares about their patient and not money, then you're looking at the wrong place! EDIT: 11/05/2015 I appreciate Dr. Stetson's personal message and update. Just so it's clear, I went to three other doctors post seeing DiamondVision, and all three concluded that I have a mild case of keratoconus. I had the Intralase procedure in February 2012, after I purchased a LivingSocial/Groupon type deal. I was not a candidate for the regular LASIK procedure, which I pretty much knew going in. I opted for the Intralase procedure over the PRK due to the recovery time. I had an excellent experience and I now see better than I did with my contacts. Fast forward 6 months, and it's still the best money I've ever spent. Today, my husband had the Intralase procedure. We went in for his appointment at the Garden City location to find out a few minutes before that the part of the machine that cuts the flap had gone down. We were given two choices: head into the Manhattan office to have the surgery today, or reschedule for October. My husband spent a month preparing himself for today, so he was getting it done today come hell or high water. There was another patient in the same boat, there with her husband. They were unable to make the drive into the city. Dr. Aleksandrovich, our surgeon, drove the other patient to the city in his own vehicle! How many doctors would do that? My husband and I opted to take our own car, and then drove the other couple home. We were both given $100 to cover travel expenses into the city. I would recommend Diamond Vision and their staff to anyone I come across. Excellent service, excellent bedside manner. Two thumbs up. read more

I was recommended to this place by a close friend who had her surgery here. I couldn't be happier with my choice! The procedure was quick, about 10 minutes...the most terrifying moments of my life! Everything went black for those 10 minutes I was laying there squeezing the teddy bear that they gave me (very helpful), Dr. Stetson talked me through the surgery to make sure I was comfortable. I sat up in the chair and WOW- I could see the clock on the wall! After resting for a few minutes I was taken home by friend, I remember my eyes felt like there were sand in them, Extremely sensitive to light. The next morning, I woke up with crystal clear vision! I highly recommend bladeless intralase Lasik surgery. The only side effect I have experienced is slightly drier eyes than before, but that's part of the healing process. It has now been 2 months since my LASIK, and I am still over the moon happy about my decision. My eyes have healed very well, and I no longer have any vision fluctuations (normal for the first several weeks after surgery as your eyes heal). I have 20/15 vision, and am absolutely thrilled. I do have a little bit of "halo" at night, but that has been getting better week by week. My eyes are still a little sensitive to bright lights as well, but all that is to be expected. I'd like to say something about all of the negative reviews here. Please do check your sources. A 1-star review stating they had the worst experience ever is possible, but am I surprised when they blatantly advertise for another doctor or have only 1 review, this one? Nope. Just smile and wave at the trolls. And to Phil from Farmingdale- There isn't a computer in the waiting room, or any sign for free eye drops- these are blatant lies. Get your facts straight before you write a bogus review. I did receive lots of free eye drops at all of my post-op appointments- they are samples from the drug companies, like at every other doctor's office I've ever visited. It in no way was linked to writing reviews. No one even asked me to write a review. And anyone who says the risks aren't completely outlined before the surgery is lying. And anyone who doesn't at least do a quick google search before contemplating having laser beams shave off part of your cornea is an idiot. I've never left a voice mail- if you call during business hours there is ALWAYS someone to speak with you. And did I get a $5 Starbucks gift card after writing this review, yes, but I didn't even know about the policy, and the card came in the mail. Only patients can receive these. Let's be realistic here. I paid close to $4000 for this surgery. If it went badly, is a $5 gift card going to sway me either way? No. It's an enticement, not a payment, and it's designed to balance out trolls on the internet trying to bring down the good reviews of a legitimate business. read more

My right eye WAS -6.75 while my left WAS -9.00. i now see 20/20 Getting Lasik is the greatest thing anyone can do that has a bad of a prescription as myself. to wake up with out having to reach for glasses or stumble your way to the bathroom to put on your contacts. Phew- what a relief!! The staff is great, answers all your questions. I am a triathlete and a surgeon myself. I have been wearing contacts for over 20 years. Over the last few years I developed a reaction to my lenses (GPC) and had to increasingly wear my glasses which interfered with other lenses I wore to perform surgery as well as swim, bike and run. I was on and off steroid and antihistamine drops to manage the condition. A friend of mine went to Dr. Stetson, and raved about the experience. After struggling for years with horrible allergies, itchy dry eyes and contact lenses that always irritated my eyes even more, I decided to look into lasik surgery. Diamond Vision offered a law enforcement discount and since I worked at a police department at the time, I researched their services, reviews, and ultimately took advantage of it. I remember not being allowed to wear contacts for a few months before getting the surgery to lessen the irritation the contact lenses were causing on my eyes. Reluctantly I did so but it was so worth it. I remember walking in and feeling anxious the morning of my surgery. In their waiting room they had books with review from former patients that you could view which put me at ease. The doctors and staff also assisted at putting my fears behind me. I walked towards the operating room and remember my friend saying that they had nice wallpaper in one of the rooms which I originally couldn't see because I wasn't wearing my my glasses. The setup was slightly scary because they need to use something to keep your eyes during surgery. It was less awful than it sounds (I promise). The surgery took an amazing 4 minutes tops and I felt nothing but a little warmth and the cooling drops they put in afterwards. The surgeon asked me what time it was and when I looked at the far wall, I called out the time and started crying because I could actually see the clock on the wall! My eyesight was immediately way better and got progressively better as my eyes healed. While I walked out of the office, I caught a glimpse at that wallpapered room and it WAS nice now that I could see it! I wore the special sunglasses they gave me at work the following day. No crazy recovery as I anticipated. I got the custom PRK they offered because my eyes were always itchy so they thought the PRK was a better alternative for me. I'm coming up on 10 years since having the surgery and my eyesight is still wonderful and I have no complaints. I highly recommend Diamond Vision! They literally changed my life!!! read more

Note: I've waited nearly a year after my procedure before writing my post! I'd been wearing thick glasses (-6.00 both eyes) since the age of 4. I'd always wanted to correct my vision, but I was not a good candidate for LASIK due to a dry eye syndrome and thin corneas. I could barely wear contact lenses due to the dryness. To complicate matters further, I am a surgeon who depends on the use of her eyes to do her job. I had resolved to a life of wearing my thick glasses forever. Over the past two years, there has been buzz about implantable collamer lenses (ICL) as an alternative to LASIK. It's a little pricier, but worth it. These ICL's could be inserted through a tiny hole and do NOT permanently damage nerves like LASIK and all other laser procedures. It was also *reversible* should anything change in the future! Also, these ICL lenses have 100% UV protection. I did some online research and asked colleagues about who would be best to perform a procedure for someone like me. On a recommendation from a well-known pioneer of the ICL procedure (Dr. Daniel Durrie in KS), I consulted Dr. Stetson and his Diamond Vision team. The office in Manhattan is well-appointed and its front office staff always greets patients with smiles and warmth. My pre-op and post-op appointments with Dr. Amy Stein were fantastic - she always ran on time, and explained everything she was doing. Though I am a doctor and did my research, I was still a little scared and she was very patient with me and all my questions! Dr. Stein never seemed rushed, and made and effort to connect with me and my interests. She was the common thread for my entire Diamond Vision experience, seeing me through the process from start to finish. Dr. Stetson is fantastic. The first time I met him was for my pre-operative YAG laser iridotomy. Shooting lasers into your eyeballs is very scary, especially when it's done by someone you're meeting for the first time. He comforted me and explained everything he was doing as we went along. He seemed genuinely interested in me, and also answered my multitudes of questions thoroughly (I think I'm an annoying patient!). It was thankfully a piece of cake, and I looked forward to my surgery day. Surgery day with Dr. Stetson went well! I was so nervous. He calmed my nerves, and the procedure was over before I knew it. I was seeing 20/20! Recovery was easy and I had minimal discomfort which only lasted 2 days. Dr. Stetson and Dr. Stein made sure to follow up with me in the days after the surgery to make sure everything was healing normally. I appreciated the effort. I was back at work and doing surgery the very next day. Suddenly my vision was "3D," contrasts and colors like I had never seen before. I was so shocked and happy. I asked Dr. Stetson why this happened, and he answered all my questions. I was so happy - life upgrade. No more contacts, no more eye strain. I could wear makeup and sunglasses. Most importantly, I am a better surgeon too, so my patients are benefitting. I am happy to report that I'm seeing at 20/10 almost a year out from my surgery. Interestingly, my dry eye syndrome has resolved completely and I don't even use eye drops any more. I am beyond ecstatic. This was the best decision I have ever made! It was such a quick process from first consultation to date of procedure. I went in for a 30min initial consultation. There was no real wait time and everyone was very accommodating. On the actual day of, I was in and out in less than an hour, the actual LASIK only taking FIVE MINUTES! Everyone there, staff and Dr. Stetson, were so nice and personable, making this the most comfortable experience. I am thrilled with the results of my LASIK procedure; for 25 years I was seeing around 20/800, and today I registered at 20/15. Diamond Vision staffers were professional, friendly, and exuded the confidence level I needed to feel reassured about having the procedure done. I highly recommend Dr. Stetson for the surgery. I do have several caveats, and I believe these will be the case with any laser vision facility. You must keep yourself fully informed, and it's up to you to ask questions. Even though they were extremely professional, they were very busy (which I take as a good sign!) They did forget to have me take the anxiety medication at the right time and I had to keep asking about it. They also had some outdated information on my record. Do not hesitate to ask questions if you have them is my only advice. But all in all, I am thrilled, perfect vision at a reasonable price. read more
