Very disappointing experience. Before arriving, I called to inform the office that I would be running late and specifically asked if I would still be able to see the doctor. I was told that it would not be a problem. However, when I arrived, I was suddenly told that I would need to reschedule. No one contacted me in advance even though they were aware that I might be late. According to the hospital's appointment system, the visit is listed as 15 minutes. When I arrived, I was unexpectedly told that the appointment would take 2 hours, yet no one could clearly explain why. If the appointment actually requires two hours, it raises the question of why I could not be seen the same day after confirming my arrival. The 15-minute late policy does not seem to be applied consistently, and there appeared to be little effort to help or find a reasonable solution. While trying to understand the situation, I asked several polite questions but unfortunately did not receive clear answers. At one point I briefly took a photo of the area, making sure not to photograph any patients or front desk staff. I was then told that photography is not allowed due to a sign prohibiting it, however no such sign was visible anywhere. Overall, the experience felt very disorganized and unhelpful. Michelle Lee is quite frankly one of the worst medical professionals I have ever dealt with in NYC. After she was paid an outrageous fee, she was totally unresponsive to any follow up calls. Her supposed voice mall did not indicate that I was leaving a message for her and I never heard from her . She failed to explain why certain services that I believe were duplicative were being done and billed . The new lenses she provided failed to correct the issues for which I had seen her. It is a shame that the excellent services provided by Weill Cornell Eye Associates has had someone like this on their staff. I am under the impression she has left the organization. read more

Wonderful experience from start to finish with Dr. Anton Orlin and his excellent team of technicians and doctors. I was very nervous about getting my eyes examined because I had recently experienced flashes on the periphery of my eyes and then some new floaters. I needed to find out if these symptoms meant something serious was going on. I came into this office two weeks ago. I've been struggling to get my prescription for the past two weeks. I've come in person. I've made calls. I just keep getting told someone will call me back with the prescription. No one has called me back or sent an email. I mentioned him to a friend. She said they had problems with him and so did her friend. Wish I'd read the community board about people's bad experiences with him before I wasted my time coming here. This is what my friend said: I've had mixed experiences with Dr. Dinkin, bad experiences with staff. One time his resident left me almost unconscious in an exam room alone for 15 minutes, one time he listened to me and prescribed tinted glasses, and one time he didn't really help. ***** had a not great experience with him, I think she didn't look disabled enough for him to think she had problems. read more

The waiting rooms are packed, mask wearing isn't enforced, the doctors overbook their appointments, so you can wait for HOURS, with ALL the others also waiting for hours. Not exaggerating. I guess the doctors more money that way. The techs are curt, impatient, and sometimes gruff: one pulled my eye open, without warning, and hadn't gloved up. Supposed to be a world class institution, but it's run like an overwhelmed clinic. Go somewhere else if you don't have a day to spend there. read more

It can be exhausting to get in touch with someone to schedule an appointment. I was promised that I would be hearing back from someone, but never did. I eventually got the consultation, and that process was smooth. However when I tried to schedule an appointment, it was tougher than getting a spot at the DMV. I'm going elsewhere. Weill Cornell Medical College Weill Cornell Eye Associates If you are considering LASIK surgery, need an optometrist (Dr Jia Lee from Boston or Dr Wang) or any kind of Ophthalmologist you really must come here. It's Cornell, so you should expect and will receive some of the best care anywhere. They are in a new fancy building on the UES across the street from NY Presbyterian hospital. If you are looking for a free consultation on LASIK please see some of the nicest doctors ever. Dr Jessica Ciralsky or Dr Ana Alzaga (from Mexico!) have taken such good care of me. I have to admit I was a bit nervous about LASIK (I only have one set of eyes!), but after meeting them I felt so comfortable, that it was a clear choice over some of those other places that I looked into that were a little cheaper, but were seeing a ton of patients every day! They are busy, which is a good sign, but worth the wait if you have one. I hope you get to visit them! They are great. read more

Bad experience for eye exam!!!!! BEWARE!!! 4 pages double sided of items to initial before you see the doctor saying patient will pay... and I was assured on phone and in person by the receptionist it was covered by my insurance through my husbands work (at the same hospital complex!!) THEN, I go to check out and they claim it's PREMIUM for some reason. No astigmatism, same script as the last 45 years, but no, it's now premium since one eye is different than the other???? (Which they've always been?) So cost $140- then they act like a big favor they'll make it $100-, but my insurance allows for 10% on premium AND a $40-outright deduction. Dr. was ok, but honestly, this place is ONLY concerned with making money. read more

Bad experience. I had a stye and expected to see a doctor to remove it. After waiting for over 1 hr, the doctor look at it and, within 5 minutes, said it was a chalesion and that there was nothing that he could do. He told me that someone would call me to schedule an appointment with another doctor and that he was hopeful that this other doctor would be able to see me within 10 days! I already had chalesion removed in another clinic and I am still waiting for that person to call me to reschedule the appointment. Never heard from them. Very bad experience. First let me say this is my opinion and personal experience about dr. grace wang specifically. Unfortunately she does not care about her patients in my opinion. Compassion is not in her vocabulary. Kindness is not in her bedside manner at all. Understanding and just an ounce of consideration for what her patients may be dealing with are nonexistent. Don't see her, she doesn't care about you. Worst experience ever! Receptionist and office is very unorganized. I have an insurance that requires a referral from my primary care doctor. The referral was sent over a week before my appointment. My insurance and primary care doctor approved the referral. The receptionist said she received it and then days later they said they could not find the referral. After hours of being on hold and trying to contact the office, days later they said they found it. Was an hour long wait to see the doctor. Doctor was pretty good but didn't really help with my situation. They prescribed me medication and then had issues sending over the medication to my pharmacy. I had to call all throughout the day for them to resend my prescription since the pharmacist said they never received anything. They seem very unorganized and do not seem to care about their patients. read more

I cannot begin to express my gratitude to the team of Kimberly C. Sippel, MD who helped my fiancé during difficult times. Due to ocular GVHD, he had severe corneal dry patches and dry eye symptoms (similar to Sjögren's Syndrome) that were extremely painful and ruining his quality of life. He was not getting the sufficient amount of attention from Sloan Kettering so we were in dire need of a full-time team of dry eye ophthalmologists to take over his case. Pros: * Weill Cornell is very busy and popular so it took a bit of persistence to get secure an appointment as early as possible. I had to keep calling and explaining the severity of the case. * Exceptional service. We could immediately tell that the doctors at Weill Cornell Eye Associates are genuinely caring and warm. Even when we had a differing opinion they would take the time to listen and discuss the pros and cons. They insisted he came every day and on weekends to make sure his eyes healed well. * Sometimes you can wait over 1 hr past your appointment time, but staff would continuously come over to apologize for the wait. * Very beautiful, modern and clean offices equipped with the latest technology. * Dr. Sippel and Dr. Michelle N. Lee, OD had my fiancé try out the PROSE contact lens for a week and his corneal ulcers healed dramatically in under a week! After 7 days his eyes were fully healed (although he still has to use Refresh PM drops and gel at night). Thank you again for the phenomenal care and service! read more

I called to make an appointment for an eye/contact exam. After providing my insurance, my out of pocket expense was stated to be $45. After my exam, I was billed $280. Associates provided me the 8 page highlighted areas to initial, with an explanation that I had a "premium" exam, although I received a standard contact lens prescription. A follow-up appointment was never offered. I never would have made this appointment at this monetary level with insurance, ever. Please look into other options, this operation is terrible. Very sad as we used Weill Cornell for primary care physicians. read more

I spent ten minutes providing all my personal and insurance information and another ten minutes while the receptionist checked appointment availability. Next available appointment is next year. I had my PRK laser vision correction performed here with Doctor Edward Lai. His fellow performed my procedure but unfortunately I have forgotten his name. Both doctors were amazing. The were very thorough with the initial exam. Dr. Lai was great about answering my many questions and made himself available via email in case I had additional questions - I had a lot. The procedure itself was very quick. Both doctors were great about talking me through every step which helped keep me calm while they worked on my eyes. I was given prescriptions almost a month in advanced to prepare my eyes for the procedure which was not given to me by the first location I had went to for consultation. Ultimately, both doctors were very professional and I felt really comfortable despite how nervous I was about the procedure. A month later, my vision is improving every day and I'm so glad I did it! read more

First off, I waited well over 2 hours for a 5 min appt. Then they decided to charge me $400 for a "new patient eye exam" when I went there because of redness in my eye. There was absolutely no exam that took place and when I called to dispute it, the secretary was rude and said I was required to pay. I will NEVER go back to this doctor. It's disappointing because Dr. Sales was very nice when he examined me but to charge such a ridiculous amount for a service he did not provide was infuriating. read more

The doctor was patient with all my questions and did not show any rush to get to the next patient. The staff was nice, courteous, and effective. I've been seeing various doctors here for almost two years now. I guess my primary physician is Dr. Sippel who has referred me to other doctors in the practice with various specialties (glaucoma, retinal, optometry etc.) including Dr. Rafla & Dr Gia Lee. All the doctors at this practice who I've seen are knowledgeable and their bedside manner is quite good. They take their time examining you and answering questions. Perhaps that's the reason for the long wait time mentioned in other reviews? The techs are a little more abrupt but I'm sure that's because they have to process patients for multiple doctors. The offices are clean and modern. You can expect your entire visit, depending on what you're there for to run about an hour and a half to two hours. A typical ophthalmologist visit goes like this for me. First a tech will see you and run preliminary tests on your eyes and dilate your eyes if necessary. Then you'll be placed in an inner waiting area, the time you wait here depends on how long it takes your eyes to dilate. Then an ophthalmologist resident will bring you into an examination room and conduct a thorough exam. By the time the doctor sees you, they've already reviewed all the information collected by the tech and the resident. They will also examine your eyes and may do so in depth if they feel something needs to be more closely examined. In terms of costs, besides my copay, I've gotten one bill from them for $34 over the last two years. I highly recommend this practice. read more

Last week I went in for a routine eye exam and never expected to be WOWED. It was a Friday afternoon and from the moment I walked in, I was treated like I was the first patient of the day. Enter scene....Technician Arti! Arti was warm, professional, appropriately humorous and informative. More importantly, she was thorough and practically saved my life. She detected that I have very narrow drainage channels (not visible to the naked eye) and made the decision not dialate my eyes. Had she not been this thorough; the dilation of my eyes would've potentially induced acute angular glaucoma - which can potentially cause blindness. I spent several days feeling absolutely indebted to Arti...who has life saving expertise and a kind heart. Who knew a technician could save ones life?!!! Now I know. I'll be forever grateful that Arti takes great pride in her craft. She literally saved my eyes! Also to be noted, I like my Doctor too - Dr. Levine. Went to see Dr Jia Lee regarding a change in my prescriptions. I had been seeing worse (both eyes are different prescription contacts) and, to test, put the stronger contact in my less-worse eye and it made me see so much better. I explained this to dr. Lee before the exam, but came out with the same prescription I entered with. It made no sense. I was then forced into dilating my eyes. I have never been forced by any other clinic in my life and I've visited eye doctors in three other states. Figuring I lived across the street, it was after 5 pm and we all wanted to get home, I thought how bad could it be? I consented. One hour later, a coffee from my husband and many sad stares from higher-up ophthalmologists, I finally made eye contact with dr. Lee. She had scheduled a patient in between my dilation and review but the patient had macular degeneration and went way longer than expected. I wish I'd been notified so I could have left and come back another time because by the time I was viewed, my eyes were back to normal. I was very upset and felt neglected as a patient. I believe dr. Lee is a very capable and intelligent person; however, she needs to prioritize and practice time management as it would not to have lead to my eyes being misdiagnosed and a waste of my time and money sitting in the waiting room of Weill Cornell Eye Associates. read more

I made an appointment with Dr. Jia Lee, and it was relatively painless to confirm with the office. Dr. Lee is thorough and patient, even if you don't know all the answers to her questions about your personal and family history. She made me feel at ease about my eye problems and offered tips about what to look out for in case of future issues (I have severe myopia and therefore many risks). She was happy to answer any questions I had about the examination. The appointment did end up going longer than expected, but that's because Dr. Lee had been addressing the needs of another patient while I had my eyes dilated. If all doctors are as nice and professional as Dr. Lee at Weill Cornell Eye Associates, there would be less complaints! read more

What a great apt well worth traveling from Albany, NY to NYC. I have had a left eye issue for about a year and a half my regular eye dr was trying to work with me and left eye but after my last encoutner he was very sorry and polite and said I give up. He sent me to some one else in Albany whom was terrible rude, nasty, takes no time with his patients. I called Weils told them my issue the apt lady right away says I have Dr. Starr he is whom who want and wait time for new apt not months away. Ok spoke to his office got a great vibe and said ok and will make the trip. So well worth it. The tech I saw forgot her name very smart listened to my story took notes along the way while be attentive to me and husband. Saw the resident an Indain man so very smart to spoke up did some of the exam gave Dr. Starr a quick report of me, my issue, family history etc. Dr. Starr did his exam very thourgh although I was there for my left eye he did a lot with the right eye to see what a good eye looks like for me and wanted to make sure that my right is really fine and when determined right eye is fine went to the left the problem. Took much time looking and used different equipment then spoke to me about his findings and the resident too both very smart and gave there attention to us not the computer. Both positive about the findings and solution. Well one month and doing great. Only oy vay part is the news Dr. Starr gave me and when he saw and heard my freaked reaction very calming and said calm down easy do my instructions and you should do fine. I have to go about five months he said even six months. I have not gone more than two months you want five months but so far both correct one month gone and no eye issues and no even left eye wanting to have an eposode. So happy to make the journey and have no problem seeing him every three months for the next year. I hope the resident is still there for my follow want to give him a big thumbs up and a big hug as he knows he did a great job and he did my easy simple office procedure. I will be seeing my Dr. Starr for my left eye issue and if needed in the future will use him for any eye surgry. My at home eye dr the first one is great too so glad I have one eye dr in town and for complex Dr Starr. The wait time is long but the time the tech took, and the dr takes for his pateints all of them not just me first timer or out of towner makes it worth it. I also noticed the other drs to take time for there patients too and do not rush and are friendly to all not phony. So take great service and all the best with much time waiting and all I can and will handle it. It is my eyes I can take great service great apts with some long wait times. I usually don't write yelp reviews but was compelled to do so as I had an exceptionally great customer experience from Weill Cornell Eye Associates. After an accident that nearly detached my retina a few years ago, I see a retina specialist every 6 months and recently decided my eyes were too important and just as I have a general practitioner for my general health, I should have a regular eye doctor. I went to see Dr. Lee-Kung at Cornell and was really impressed by the bedside manner and thoroughness of her explanations. She was knowledge and comprehensive; and took the time to explain how my eyes muscles have changed from the detached retina and about the overall health of my eyes. I trust Dr. Lee-Kung and highly recommend her to anyone. read more

i owe everything to dr. d'amico. i went to dr. d'amico in nov. 2008 now blind in both eyes by nov. 2008. i couldn't see dr. d'amico but he said to me: you have a 60% chance of getting your eyesight back in your left eye, if you want me to do the surgery make the appt. with my secretary then the room was quite. i said to thomas: did dr. d'amico leave and thomas said yes. i was upset and screaming to get me out of there. but now as i sit here in march of 2016 with eye sight in my left eye, i understand why dr. d'amico is the way he is. the doctors here in connecticut do not know what they are doing!! i will never go to another eye doctor in connecticut. i have been going to weill cornell, dr. d'amico since nov. 2008. dr. d'amico did surgery dec. 13, 2008 and i received my eyesight back in my left eye in april 2009. i said to dr. d'amico, well since you gave me eyesight back in my left eye can you give me eyesight back in my right eye, he said no, the doctors in connecticut cut your optic nerve!!!! i went to the top doctors in connecticut and they butchered me!! i am forever grateful that dr. d'amico takes extraordinary pride in his expertise. i had a torn retina, vitreous liquid went behind the eyeball, dr. d'amico took the eyeball out, cut the scar tissue off the back of my eyeball and re attached my eye and then shot my eye with over 1,ooo shots of laser to stop the hemorrhage. thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! without you dr. d'amico i would be in a convalescent home!! what good would i be being blind in both eyes. i was helpless!! you gave me my sight back again in 1 eye and i'm sooooo thankful for you. i can go on and on about you dr. d'amico. i will always go see you every year til it's my time to leave this earth. your patient' lorri franco read more

Cataract surgery Just completed second Eye Cataract surgery. I am a 78 years old male in reasonable good health and was experiences blurred vision and it was time. I have been going to a few eye doctors for annual check ups and prescriptions for eye glasses. One was geographic undesirable and another has a office that is a zoo. So I shopped around a bit to select a organization to get cataract surgery. Selected Weill Cornell as result of previous positive experience with other medical services I have received there and its proximity to my home. I could not be more pleased with the outcome. The professional capabilities, and the cooperative caring staff of the organization made everything pleasant. I selected Dr Ciralsky as the surgeon based on a review of her background and her availability to schedule new patients. It was a very fortunate choose. She was very knowledgable, took time to explain everything and kept appointments in a timely manner. One of my pet peeves are medical partitioners who over book and have no regard for patients time, which is not the case here. Some useful information for those facing the process. The office is at 70th St. and York Ave. all exams occur there. The pre and post op visits requires about 7 visits for both eyes. I had to go to my primary physical twice for a pre op approval because the exam has to be with in 30 days of the procedure and my second operation was outside that window. The surgery is done at the hospital across the street on 68 St. I walked in and out in about three hours including all the pre and post op periods for each eye. I experience no pain during and after surgery but my eyes were a little teary after, felt like somebody pocked me and it took about 2 weeks for my right eye to clear because I had a stitch . My left eye cleared in a few days. I am into exercise but my doctor advised me to lay of for the first week after the surgery and gradually work my self up over the next three week to my pre op levels and not go swimming for four weeks Of course some individuals could experience different issues. I was prescribed four different eye drops for pre and pos op care. My out of pocket drug costs were about $220 under my Medicare part D drug coverage (may be different for different plans and I am in the coverage gap stage). I have Medicare and AARP supplement insurance and incurred no other out of pocket costs.AMERICA IS A WONDERFUL PLACE. I selected the Medicare fully covered lenses which in my case resulted in perfect distant vision but I need low power glasses for reading ( drug store reading glasses appear fine). I look forward to a clearer brighter future. Some Silliness. I was asked to fill out a online survey after my first visit which was totally irrelevant. The first exam visit and second fitting visit could be combined to save time and money. But perhaps you need to do A to know if you need B and there may be scheduling issues. I experienced some scheduling bumps in the road but I was pushing to get it done before I went on vacation. My initial visit was 11/18 and my last visit was on 1/13. Having to do two pre op exams because my timing was outside the 30 day window was a waste and some provision should be made to extend the window when there are no other issues. I had to contact my doctor to get get a prescription for the forth drug which I never originally got. It must have fallen in the crack. I get my a summary of my Medicare, AARP charges periodically. The surgeon billing for the surgery was $ 7,224 for one eye but she accepted the Medicare approved amount of $ 767.4 as full payment. The hospital charge was $7,358.65 and they accepted $1,484. This is a mystery to me. I posted a after picture on Facebook titled LOOK MA NO GLASSES and my friends got a kick out of it. IF YOU NEED IT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR. CIRALSKY AND THE GROUP.
