Dr. Belmont and her staff are amazing. Everyone is always friendly and polite, and they accommodate all of your needs. I wore glasses and contacts most of my life, but can see 20/20 after just two weeks thanks to Dr. Belmont and her crew! From the very first visit you can tell this place isn't like most. All of my questions and concerns were answered and I felt very comfortable talking to Dr. Belmont. She was very patient and explained every little detail from pre-op to post-op and there was never pressure to get the surgery from anyone in the office. They treated me like family. Dr. Belmont herself is a great doctor. However, giving 2 stars because of her office admin John, who is prob one of the the rudest people I have ever had to speak with at a doctors office. I would NOT reco going here due to the way he treats her patiences. He speaks down to you, he speaks over you in conversations, he is poor at his job and likes to blame other people for his inability to do his job as a supervisor correctly. Its unfortunate that he works at this office because its a detriment to the clinic itself. I would highly reco GOING ELSE WHERE till he is replaced. Dealing with him is worse than having poor vision or any eye issues overall. FIND A DIFFERENT OFFICE. I had an appointment with them near 2 months in advance for him to call me less than 24hrs before my appt. He then blamed someone else of their error, asks me to then pay over $300 additional out of pocket (I was already expecting to pay for the lasik surgery out of pocket) or cancel my surgery all together that I had taken time off work for and asked a friend to take time off work to take me home from the surgery. I have called the office multiple times to talk directly to Dr. Belmont which I have not received any return calls from her which would lead me to believe he is NOT providing her with the messages due to trying to hide his own negligence. I came here for PRK in 2014. I walked in at -10 (blind as a bat)....they thoroughly explained I will never have 20/20 but they can enhance. Understood. Staff were friendly and the place is really inviting and clean. I left with a 2 on the right and 2.5 on the left. 5 years later my vision has declined again as they explained but its nothing compared to what I presented to them with. Current a 4 on the left and 3.75 on the right. Wondering if I did it again would it be worth it? I would definitely recommend Belmont Eye Center! read more

I wanted laser surgery for my on camera work, but cautious about where to go. Happened to be in NYC for a few years, so I searched reviews and found Dr. Belmont, what impressed me the most is that she had corrected other's mistakes, so I thought why not just skip that part and go right to the best. She also discovered and explained that I wasn't a candidate for LASIK since the layers of my cornea weren't parallel to each other. My only option was Laser PRK, slightly more discomfort and slower healing time. I also chose mono vision so I wouldn't need reading glasses, and she corrected the stigmatism in both eyes. Vision adjusted immediately, and I'm very grateful for the life improvement this has been, I've actually forgotten that I used to wear glasses! I also have more freedom to chose sunglasses since they no longer need a prescription. Highly recommend Dr Belmont for her experience, skills and quality of work performed!!! This is about their 'charming' receptionist! I walked in to my appointment on time and was digging in my purse for my mask (I'm doubled vaxed) and she hollers at me 'Don't you have a mask?' I said 'yes of course. I'm getting it' her reply in the snottiest voice one can imagine 'then step outside and out that on.' Which I did. I told her that they did not have a sign anywhere outside that said I could not enter unless I was wearing a mask so how would I even know that even though I was trying to put one one. No response. So I sit down and she walks over to me with a stack of papers to fill out like I've never been there before. I asked her if I needed to fill all this out because nothing has changed - my insurance or address or anything and she replies 'well you haven't been here since 2018! I said that wasn't true and she huffed and puffed and finally admitted I was there last year 'well fill them out anyway. You have to do this every year'. Not true I've been there for years and they have never asked me to refill all the forms. I filled them out. She told me I had to go back and fill in all the 'no' boxes and at this point I'm just plain pissed. She's as rude as hell and it's now at least 20 minutes past my appointment time as usual. She copies my I insurance card and tell me that'll be $285 and I haven't even seen a doctor yet so how does she even know what we are going to discuss or what I'm going to have to pay when all is said and done. So I told her. 'No thank you. I'm not coming in here to be treated this way. You're an incredibly rude woman. I'll find an eye doctor that's able to treat their patients with some class. And honestly the whole vibe of the place is like that. Except for the nice Asian man. No thank you. I never write negative reviews but I am now because this level of y professionalism needs to be addressed. Dr Sandra Belmont and her staff are the best. I spent two years going to many eye professionals because I couldn't see clearly with the contacts I was wearing. All the eye doctors said that the contacts I was wearing was the highest prescription I could get for my eyes. One visit to the office of Dr Belmont and they diagnosed the problem and was able to provide me with contacts that allow me to read without glasses over my contacts. When I finally decided to get vision correction I looked around a lot and finally settled on Dr. Belmont. During my consultation a separate doctor examined my eyes and performed several tests. When I did meet Dr. Belmont she was very friendly and sweet. She explained the procedure to me and why I wasn't a candidate for lasik. My cornea is too thin so I can only do PRK. I didn't have many questions because I did a lot of research on the different procedures, complications, and outcomes (the fact that I may still need to wear glasses) so she led my to meet John to talk finance. I didn't make the decision then to have it but I did call back later to schedule the surgery. I had the surgery on a Friday and took off from work on Saturday and Monday. I was told the worse days might be Saturday and Sunday and they were right, however the worse wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. My eyes were red but they mostly felt just very very tired and I couldn't open my eyes for very long, especially after adding the drops. There were 4 drops to add every day, 2 were every 3 hours, 1 every hour (the artificial tears) and another for just 3 days 2x/day. Adding the drops was very annoying. As for my vision, it was blurry even when I held things up close. As the days progressed it did get better. I was mostly concerned for day 4 because that was the day I was going back to work and desperately needed to see. That was my main concern aside from the recovery itself. I was able to see at work, however I wasn't able to add the drops as readily as the other days so I did have to skip some doses and towards the end of the day I felt that I couldn't see as well as I did at the start of the day. But overall, not bad. At my first follow up appointment my bandage contacts were removed. My eyes were healing just fine and my lack of clear vision was expected. So I was right on course. Too bad my vision took a step back after the contacts were removed. Over a month later my vision is nearly perfect. I still need to apply eye drops every few hours but my sight is so good it feels like I always have my contacts in. This was the best, and most costly, decision I've ever made. read more

Bad experience. These people are chaotic and careless. They just take all your money and do the minimum. They made us paid for a wrong prescription that it was not necessary, we paid for their incompetent employees. They never return phone calls. You never get a follow up appointment, you need to call them a hundred times, you pay a lot of money but they have no time for you. Choose another eye center, this is not reliable. And the only thing that counts for eye surgery is the best equipment. read more

I have been going to Dr. Belmont for yearly exams and some wellness procedures for three years. Recently she is performing Morpheus 8 microrneedling with skin tightening in her practice. This is a non-invasive procedure where results are gradually seen as we build our own collagen. She and her team were wonderful. Along with her professional team of of an RN and technician, Dr. Belmont's magic touch, calming voice and professional demeanor made it very comfortable with very little discomfort. I had my surgery done about 3 weeks ago and both eyes are healing as expected. My vision is still fluctuating a little bit, but I'm seeing right around 20/20. Everyone here is very professional and friendly. Everything that they told me to expect during and after the surgery was pretty spot on. The procedure takes about 15 minutes and is painless. (I had a -2.50 prescription before the surgery.) It took me about 7 days after the surgery to see around 20/40. After that, everything started healing faster and i was a lot less sensitive to light. Everyone heals differently, so just trust what they say and you will be fine. Dr Belmont and her team are excellent. If I had to do it all over again I definitely would! read more

I had my vision corrected a few weeks ago. I understand that there is healing time involved, but everyone minimized just how long, and what the healing was actually going to be like. I asked specifically if I needed to take time off, and was infomred that they do the procedures on Fridays so people can take the weekend off, and sometimes the following Monday, and that was all that was generaly needed. The procedure itself went very smoothly. There was absolutely no pain during or afterwards. However, I have had a very difficult time these past few weeks trying to see in general. My distant vision is usually pretty good now, post-procedue, though it does vary throughout the day. What noone told me was that it would be very hard to read in the weeks after the procedure. I made it very clear that I work on a computer for 10-12 hours a day, as well as do detailed art work, and I have to say that I have been absolutely miserable at times over the past few weeks becuase I find it very hard to read. I have two different intensities of reading glasses that I switch out throughout the day, double vision, nausea, and it is exhausting. I had trifocals prior to the procedure, and understood fully that the PRK would not correct for my close up and "computer" vision, but I now need reading glasses that are much stronger, and still can't read weel even with them on. If you are going to go through this procedure, you should just be aware of the actual recovery time, and put aside a few weeks of vacation. Who can realistically do this though, right? The staff and doctors themselves are professional. Dr Belmont perfromed surgery on my father for his cornea issues years ago, so she is the person I sought out for my vision correction, but she does a great disservice to her patients by not being upfront with what your vision will actually be like following the procedure. The conversation discussing side effects, as well as general information on-line is very minimized, and I would not have gone through with the procedure had I known that my recovery would have been anything like this. read more

Doctor and staff very nice, pleasant environment, short waiting time, very accommodating re: scheduling appointments. So, don't hesitate if you want a pleasant and easy office experience. Do, however, think twice if you want an eye surgeon who will listen to your goals and perform surgery accordingly. Saw her to have laser correction in one eye after cataract surgery with specific goal of correcting this eye to "match" the other. Accustomed to creating "perfect vision" for her patients, she did not listen and thinks she did an amazing job because the eye on which she operated is now better than 20/15. Sadly, other eye is not and the correction for which I saw her - with the only goal of having the one eye corrected to match the other - has left me with disparate vision, constant eye strain, and a crossed eye. Also, that PRK procedure described as "no big deal" is invasive, painful, and - having consulted numerous eye doctors since this procedure - takes up to a year to heal and feel comfortable. Was not told that they'd be prescribing a narcotic for the post-surgery period until I was signed up and ready to go. read more

I had PRK in mid-May to correct nearsightedness (-4). I did the surgery in both eyes. Until recently, the vision has shifted a lot from day to day. I was told that real vision recovery can take up to 6 months so knowing that really helped me relax about the process. For the last month, I've had 20/20 in one eye & 20/25 in the other. Now, I only need glasses to read & I can't cheat because I don't have any vision for reading anymore. Before, I was sneaking looks under my glasses to read (I was able to read but really needed to wear reading glasses. Either I had to change glasses completely, or when I was teaching would wear progressives which aren't really good for everyday wear) & got a lot of eye strain as a result of the different needs. My life has been enormously simplified! Also, as an active person who especially loves swimming & doing yoga, this has been a life changer! I discovered that I have sensitive eyes, so the most uncomfortable part of the experience has been the intensity of the dry eyes. I did some research & discovered that a warm washcloth for 5 minutes 2x's day as well as the preservative free eye drops as frequently as needed really helps. From a medical perspective, PRK takes longer to heal than LASIK but is less invasive & a safer surgery. Dr. Belmont is an excellent surgeon & the staff at Dr. Belmont's office are warm & accessible. I feel, also, that there is an emotional piece (it's a big change & in reality, is a dramatic surgery). I rarely write reviews but having had such an exceptionally positive experience with Dr. S Belmont and the Belmont Eye Center I feel inclined to. Prior to surgery I was short-sighted (-3.50 each eye) and had to deal with daily contact lenses or glasses wear which was rather tiresome after over 15 years of use. Prior to selecting the Belmont Eye Center I completed extensive research on the various options out there and spoke with many reputable professionals in this field. Dr. Belmont's extensive experience (25 years), scientific and operational expertise and the general positive feel I got with interactions with Dr. Belmont and her team, made the Belmont Eye Center a clear choice for treatment! Dr. Belmont uses advanced PRK as a primary choice for vision enhancement treatment as the risks are greatly reduced vs. Lasik and the other options due to the lack of physical eye incision. The outcome was that a quick and painless eye operation led to me having 20/10 vision in both eyes; that is significantly better than normal healthy vision!! In the following months the treatment involves regular check-ins, eye health evaluations and eye tests to ensure that everything remains in strong working order.
