Carroll Seghers started his jewelry career as an advertising executive for Gruen watches. in Cincinnati Ohio in the 1930's he purchased his first jewelry store and named it Carroll's Jewelers. After a few years he relocated to Coral Gables where he hosted a public TV program called Facets. The show led him to open this Las Olas Carroll's Jewelers. Carroll's is one of the original stores in the Las Olas shopping district. Carroll's daughter Jeanne Ann and son in law Robert Moorman took over ownership of the Las Olas store. Carroll's Jewelers is now owned by the fourth generation of the Moorman family. A pair of earrings caught my eye and Emily came over to help me. They have a lot of beautiful new jewelry and one of a kind estate sale pieces ranging from $150 to many thousands of dollars. They also have a custom design team and a repair department. In addition to jewelry they also sell gifts which include frames, platters, and glass pieces. The store is elegant and beautifully decorated for the holidays. After being surprised by Josef's approximately $900 quote to replace the movement of the watch (a standard quartz movement that itself is available for sale online for ~$40) I took the watch to JR Dunn in Pompano--an authorized Tag dealer and repair shop, where Josef's is not--and was quoted less than $300 to have the entire job done, by Tag themselves, with a warranty.
