My specific cut…read moreand size would have to be ordered, but Miriam was very friendly and showed me all the lab diamonds they had in stock so I could envision the size and beauty of a lab diamond. I really appreciated that they took the time to understand exactly what I wanted and never tried to upsell me, whether that meant going bigger or adding a halo. They showed me a few options so I could visualize different looks (which was actually fun to try on), but when I said, "nah, not my style," they genuinely respected that and moved on. I left my ring there on Monday and was able to pick it up Wednesday, which I did not expect since my stone had to be ordered. The quality is stunning and the pricing was very very fair.

I went to sell two former rings of mine, sterling silver with diamonds on each, originally…read morepurchased from a well-known and trusted company, Kay Jewelers. It is unfortunate, though I am not surprised, to still encounter experiences like the one I had with Tom, the jewelry appraiser at Koosh. After examining and testing my rings using their own materials, the interaction left me with the impression that he was attempting to diminish the value and worth of what I brought in. He initially offered $200. I didn't push back, I simply accepted. Given that we live in a world where everyone is trying to get more bang for their buck, especially when people sometimes bring in fool's gold or misrepresent what they're selling, I understand exercising caution. What seemed to catch him off guard was that I didn't negotiate. Instead of simply honoring his initial offer, he paused and said, "Actually, hold on... hmm... Idk, I think I'll have to go to $180," followed by a few vague comments that, to me, felt like an attempt to further reduce their value. I caught onto the shift quickly and asked, "How is it possible that every time you keep testing them, the value keeps going down?" Again, these are Kay Jewelers rings that I came to sell, not buy. To better understand where he was coming from, I asked, "Do you suspect they're plated?" Knowing full well where they came from, he initially responded, "Yeah... maybe." That's when I stopped him and said, "They're from Kay Jewelers." He immediately corrected himself. "Oh, no. Yeah, then they're for sure real." That exchange spoke for itself. Personally, I believe a solid and seasoned appraiser should be able to immediately, and intuitively, recognize the quality of the jewelry being presented to him, especially after testing it with the tools available to him. Mind you, the store itself appears very successful. It's run well, organized, equipped with screens throughout, and even has a police officer on site. That is the reason I am still being kind enough to give it three stars. Some might say I made it easy for him to offer less because I didn't negotiate. I would argue the opposite. Why do I need to push back when I already know the size, quality, and condition of what I own? To me, as someone who has owned fine jewelry, this interaction reflected more about character, integrity, and work ethic than it did about the value of my rings. It is only unfortunate to see that certain women are still perceived as if they know less than they do. Instead of going back and forth with someone whose approach no longer inspired confidence, I simply don't chase. You show me who you are, and I move accordingly. Vengeance is not mine. Karma has a way of balancing things organically, as it does for all of us. Interestingly, once he realized I wasn't buying into the changing explanations, he didn't lower the offer any further. He settled on, "You know what... I'll give you $180." Still uninterested in arguing over the experience, I simply replied, "Sure, that's fine." I wasn't there chasing more money. Thankfully, that isn't my priority. What mattered to me was the experience itself, the integrity behind the transaction, and the confidence I already had in the jewelry I was bringing in. Given Koosh's reputation, that's exactly what drew me there in the first place. This experience proved, once again, that every experience is deeply personal. Now, back to karma... After settling on $180, he couldn't actually complete the transaction because he didn't have enough change. He was only carrying hundred-dollar bills. He even asked whether I had change on me, but I don't carry cash. After waiting for a while, someone else finally broke the bills for him. When he returned, he said, "I almost couldn't find change."I simply looked at him, smiled with the quiet awareness of seeing right through the experience as I had perceived it, thanked him, and left. And Mr. Tom, if you happen to read this, I'll leave you with one question... Is it possible you couldn't find change because the Universe was making it abundantly clear that $200 was the fair beginning, and the fair ending? I more than think so.
