To anyone considering buying diamond jewelry from Diamonds Direct in Mt Pleasant SC and having it financed on the Diamonds Direct Wells Fargo credit card, I strongly urge you to reconsider due to the unprofessional business practices of the management at both Diamonds Direct and Wells Fargo. In 2023, I saw a beautiful diamond bracelet in the Diamonds Direct Greenville SC store and requested it be transfer to the Mt Pleasant SC store where I typically buy jewelry from. It was very expensive $xx,xxx, so a major potential purchase so I wanted to be 100% sure before purchase. It was initially held at the store in the safe. About 6-8weeks later, I was told, the bracelet could no longer be held unless money was put down on it, but it could be charged to the credit card while held in the Diamonds Direct safe, and was 100% refundable if I decided to cancel. Only because it was 100% refundable, I agreed. About 6-8weeks later with the bracelet still in the safe at Diamonds Direct, I found my self under extreme financial hardship due to the loss of a job, so I returned to the store to cancel the purchase as the Diamonds Direct staff had originally agreed to, but the regional manager visiting the store refused. She refused to cancel the transaction and refund back to the credit card considering the bracelet had never left the Diamonds Direct safe. Instead, I was given two options, neither of which I could afford, cancel the purchase with a restocking fee of over $6,000.00 or permit the purchase to be refinanced with 60month interest free terms, regardless of the fact that I informed Diamonds Direct that I was out of work and could not afford the purchase. I was given no other options and could not afford either. Being our of work, I was not able to make payment so compound interest and late fees accumulated to over $1000. When I returned to work, I paid 100% of the original interest free purchase, but to date, Wells Fargo continues to hound me for the $1000 in interest and late fees while destroying my credit and refusing to acknowledge that Diamonds Direct scammed Wells Fargo on a transaction the customer blatantly informed the Diamonds Direct staff, I COULD NOT AFFORD DUE TO FINANCIAL HARDSHIP DUE TO BEING UNEMPLOYED. My recommendations to anyone, regardless of how great the sales staff is at Diamonds Direct, avoid any purchases as Diamonds Direct's business practices as well as those of Wells Fargo's business practices are both unethical and unprofessional. There are two many other jewelry stores and financial institutions out there who value custoner relationships, to be involved with such unprofessional and unethical businesses. Major jewelry purchase like an engagement ring or other major purchase should be a solid foundation of someone's or couples future, and not an anchor around their neck attempting to suck the life out of them and crucify the customer forever due to financial hardship beyond their control. We live in a world that should include respect, compassion, and humanity. Keep in mind, Wells Fargo was paid 100% of the Diamonds Direct purchase price that was financed, that i explicitely told Diamonds Direct I could not afford. Yes, Wells Fargo was paid late because i informed Diamonds Direct at the time of purchase i was out of work and could not afford the purchase, but was given no other option. Now, to make this all go away, i shall be forced to retain an attorney to file suit against Diamonds Direct and Wells Fargo. I've been a loyal customer for a few years now and love being able to walk in when I like & buy my own jewelry. Company is family owned and while they have stores across the US, originally a family member ran the Charleston store. Staff turn over is very low which is great. They also have a diamond upgrade program. Any solitaire (ring, earrings, pendant) can be upgraded a year later. Simply trade in your original item. Get full value of what you paid, plus 10% off new item. I think I'm on my fifth diamond pendant upgrade now. Originally a smaller solitaire and now a diagonal pear shaped stunner in a halo setting with equal quality of my earrings. They initially didn't have the clarity diamond I was looking for already preset in a pendant. Apparently I have a good eye for diamonds and able to tell clarity with the naked eye!! LOL Rings usually have the best clarity and color while earrings and necklaces do not. But I can tell a white diamond when I see it. Bo went to the back and searched his database. They can quickly get diamonds from their other stores. In my case tho he found the quality diamond I was looking for in a stunning rose gold engagement ring that was already in their store. They thought nothing of popping it out and resetting it for me in a pendant. Same with my most recent earrings. I have a pair of diamond earring jackets so I wanted to stayed within a certain size as I love the jackets. Bo ordered in two pairs of diamonds so I could review color and size. I started with SI1 G diamond earrings and overs the years upgraded to larger VVS1 and E. Those were reset in screw back settings at no additional charge. Next earrings I plan to do IF and D. It's been fun to trade in for something new (and bigger) every year. David the new manager (who's also been there for years) is equally gracious. I purchased myself a diamond tennis bracelet for my 50th. Sadly I kept having some issues with the links. It wasn't an item they designed/made in house. They were quick to help and fix links for free multiple times. The links ended up deteriorating beyond repair. I reached out to the manufacturer (Gabriel), who simply ignore me. I brought it back in thinking I could have them make something else with the diamonds. Instead David let me trade that in too for a new (bigger) tennis bracelet. I'm more in love with this one than the first. Overall great experience. At this point I think I've purchased roughly 15 different items. So clearly I'm here a lot. Prices are great, too. First off... this review is waaaaaaay overdue. I was sure that I had posted something months back. Last October right after we had moved here from California we were in the market for a new setting for my wedding diamond. I had looked and looked in California for the perfect one and very much considered designing my own but time ran out of time once our house sold and we moved to SC. If I could make this review 10/5 stars, I would. First let me start where this all started - trying to give our business to a Michigan-based company that came recommended from friends who spent in excess of $30,000 on their engagement and wedding bands at Tapper's Jewelers. We are from Michigan and my fiancé is stationed in the Air Force in Charleston. With plans to return to Michigan in the long-term, we thought we would take the recommendation and set ourselves up for future purchases and care for the engagement rings and wedding bands we would be purchasing. BIG. MISTAKE. We had a beyond horrific experience with this company, and even their name makes me itch. After almost 2 months of faulted communication with our former jeweler (Tapper's) and me having to get involved with my OWN engagement ring more than 5 times while my fiancé was overseas, I had enough. We cancelled the sale after Tapper's failed to deliver the stone we ordered, tried pulling one over on us saying we ordered the wrong stone and only being able to bring in stones that had so many inclusions, I couldn't see anything but cracks and imperfections. These so-called "professionals" overpromised and did not even deliver so much as an apology. This company ruined our engagement. We stopped in Diamonds Direct on a whim while we were in the area and I explained what we were looking for briefly to the friendly receptionist. She told me we would be speaking with Lindsay, the color specialist, as we were looking for a specific color of peach sapphire. After talking with Lindsay for only a few minutes, I finally was having the experience we sought from the very beginning. She actually LISTENED to everything I was saying, showed me multiple options available in the showroom and carefully combed through every detail, I mean EVERY single one. We had more information available to us within an hour that we had even been made aware of from the other company in months. We got an education on colored stones. And we realized all the questions that were NOT asked by other jewelers. Within less than 48 hours, Lindsay pulled the strings necessary to get us TEN stones that she deemed appropriate based on our search criteria. Within less than 2 days, she had delivered more than twice the number of options that a handful of other jewelers (including Tapper's, who we fired) could find in MONTHS. She kept us in the loop throughout the 2 days she searched for our requirements in an oval peach sapphire - letting us know that what we were seeking was more rare than anyone had let on prior in our search, but assured us she was exhausting all of her resources. But then, Lindsay went above and beyond (just as she had through every interaction with us from the very start). She brought us in and had each of the stones she had picked out from her various gem experts depicted with the carat and dimensions, but left out the type of stone each was, which she had written on the inside of the envelope of each stone. Because the most important thing to us was color and clarity, we looked at each of the 10 stones in the diamond room (white light), on the showroom floor (yellow/fluorescent light) and then Lindsay took us OUTSIDE (with a security guard). She wanted us to see each stone in different light to see how much light affects the color. She put each stone in the actual setting we ordered that I wore on my finger with the matching bands. I chose a stone and then, and only then, did Lindsay reveal what the stone actually was. The peach sapphire I was after in the color that was so very specific, was the 2nd runner up; but the stone that I blindly chose based solely on color was actually a morganite. Lindsay knew that the color profile was more accurate with this type of stone, but it was not as hard as a sapphire. The price was also much lower. She also knew that if I had known what each stone type was up front, I would have been looking at things with a jaded perspective since I had my heart set on a sapphire. She took the time to ask the right questions. THE KICKER?! She was able to deliver the exact product we were looking for BEFORE our former jeweler, who had 2 months of a head start, could!!!! Lindsay is the real deal. She is authentic, personable, knowledgeable beyond belief, well-connected and more genuine than I could have ever imagined from a salesperson; because she is an expert. She could have sold me on the stone that was 10x more expensive, but she truly cared about what I wanted in terms of color and let me make my own decision. She read me well and she has certainly earned a client, not a customer. I will be using Diamonds Direct and Lindsay, specifically, for the rest of my jewelry purchases for years to come. 2 days. 10 impressive options. 15% military discount. $4,000 savings over our former jeweler. I went here a year ago to get my engagement ring. That day there was a 20% off sale with all sorts of extras flown in. When I talked to someone I was NEVER pressured and they kept my budget in mind. She even recommended a lower priced ring to stay within what I could afford. In the end I was very happy Just a few days ago I came back to get wedding bands, after I had done a little shopping and knew what I wanted. I had a fantastic experience here in March. I thought I knew exactly what I was looking for until I came here but it definitely changed a little after I started trying them on. We felt no pressure to buy anything while we were here because the man helping us knew we weren't from around here and just wanted to try some on. I really wanted a ring with sapphires on the sides of it and a marquise diamond. He had no rings in the store with sapphires in the settings so he took a blue sharpie and colored in the diamonds on the setting so that they looked like sapphires and that helped to me to get an idea of what a ring would really look like. I thought that I wanted a one carat diamond but when he brought them out I realized that they actually looked way too big on my finger. He brought out a variety of different sized diamonds for me to look at on a ring. Marquise diamonds all look different because some are longer and some are wider. I found the diamond that I liked the shape and size of and a setting that I liked. They customized my ring completely as they did not have exactly what I was looking for already made. They replaced the diamonds on the setting with sapphires and changed the setting shape to be able to fit my marquise diamond. We went ahead and decided to buy it. David I believe is the name of the man that helped us. He sent pictures to my fiance once they received the finished ring back to the store in Charleston and then they had it shipped to the store in Virginia Beach for us because it was a much closer location. I was in search for a Men's wedding band and was having trouble finding what I wanted. He did not give up. He went into detail and depth and showed us multiple variations of the ring until I found the right one. He was so good that when I came to pick up my ring, I bought my fiance's wedding band right there. He is the only person I will ever deal with when buying jewelry.
