When I walked in the first thing that struck me was how nice it was. I was expecting it to have sort of a warehouse, industrial type feel - just supplies. Instead there were plenty of retail displays, esthetically placed. The other thing is that the store is quite big filled with all sorts of stuff, from pans to knives to gadgets. I saw a few things that I have never seen before. I am looking forward to going back to pick up. There were probably 15 people milling about looking at all the stuff - a bit of a suprise considering that the store itself feels like a little tucked away secret in a strip mall. Here's my story: My mom had purchased a casserole dish as a gift for me from this store. I wanted to return it because it was too large and the store didn't have any smaller ones in stock. The clerks refused to make the return, despite that I had the store receipt in hand, because I was outside of the 7 day purchase date and my credit card wasn't the one that purchased the dish. I explained that my mom was very busy and I wasn't sure when she'd be able to come in, and I have a small baby at home and this was the first time I could come in. They said they were sorry but they couldn't do anything. I asked for cash back instead, and they refused saying they couldn't make an exception for one customer. My problem was that they were claiming they couldn't do anything, but they actually could and were just refusing to do so. I buy most of my speciality kitchen-ware from Savour, which is a cute shop in Inglewood. Its customer service is much better and I love its products. I will never shop at Zest again.
