I wish I could rate lower. I don't usually do these reviews, however I would like to warn people about this service. I had Dick Van Dyke come out to service my dryer that was squeaking while running. I was charged $419.22 for the supposed repair. As the repair man left he made a comment about how it just has the normal squeaking now. Which was confusing to me because the dryer had never squeaked before, and I called them to fix this problem. Not knowing anything about appliances or appliance repair and wanting to give them the benefit of the doubt I gave it a few months to see if maybe the new parts needed time to adjust/adapt. The squeaking got progressively worse and louder so today I called Dick Van Dyke to report this and was told I would have another $89 service fee just for them to come out and look at it again, but that fee would be taken off of any other parts they would need or labor that they would do as I am out of the 90 day parts warranty, which I was never informed of. I will never use their service again and want to warn other people about this outrageous amount I was charged only to not get the problem fixed and then told that I would be charged even more for them to come out and fix a problem that should've been fixed the first time. I had heard really good things about their service and that's why I called them so I was really shocked that this was my experience. We purchased a home with an Asko dishwasher. It had been malfunctioning so the previous owners had a new control board installed by Dick Van Dyke. In a short 3 months it began to malfunction again. The power button was not always working, but with a slight bump with my fist I could get it to run. Not being an expert, I called DVD and a repairman came out. I showed him what it was doing. He did nothing but say it needed a new control board and the estimated came back at almost $800 dollars. Being mechanically inclined, I took the door apart and found the 2 small wiring harnesses were not seated (snapped in) properly to the control board. Fixed the problem! I also found the 4 screws which hold the door to the hinges were not installed correctly-cross threaded and crooked. I fixed that! The dishwasher was not anchored to the cabinet at all so it was free to move. I fixed that. Found 2 bolts which were installed wrong on the face of the dishwasher which were not allowing the door to completely seal. Fixed that! So I paid the $79 service call charge for which I received nothing for! We will never use Dick Van Dyke again for anything! Rating is zero! I bought a top loading Whirlpool washing machine last October of 2024. Every load of dark clothing had white streaks and smudges on them. I had to wipe every item with a micro fiber cloth so that it would be wearable but not a great solution. At first the service department was skeptical of the problem and we tried everything from changing detergent, to temperature change to drainage change to adding vinegar to the rinse to cleaning cycles to replacing parts...nothing worked!! Finally, Michael took the drum out and it was coated with white residue. He scrubbed it off and replaced it certain that the problem was fixed. I ran a cleaning cycle and 1 load of dark clothing and still had white streaks. Whirlpool said that there was nothing wrong with the machine and that they were not going to fix it. Angel and Michael worked to get the machine replaced an finally last week I got a new machine - a front loading LG that is working great!! Without their advocacy I think I would be stuck with a defective machine. I'm sure a box store would not have gone to bat for me, so for that I am extremely grateful to Dick Van Dyke. I would have given 5 stars except that it took 8 months. I'm very happy now though. read more

If you shop or otherwise use Dick Van Dyke for anything beware. Tech came to diagnose our oven. He can't figure out the issue and calls for help. Two techs manage to do nothing except trip our breaker and proclaimed we needed new board but not to worry it is under warranty. We find out later it isn't covered. We are told an outrageous price for a board I found for a 3rd what they wanted but then I also found the tripped breaker. Oven works. Not fried. So no diagnoses really done. Same issue. Oven simply not heating all the way so I bought oven thermometer so we know actual temp. They try to collect for the service call. Guy was on site only a few minutes and did nothing but trip the breaker and then he left. Would you pay? We have been threatened with collections...I said go ahead. Now this. What a joke. #dickvandyke They have never asked to come back and actually troubleshoot the issue and at this point why would we let them back in our home. They are now trying to extort $64 from us. If I could give them no stars I would! I have purchased every one of my appliances from Dick Van Dyke since moving here in 2000 - 10 appliances that I can remember, maybe more. I try to support local family businesses as much as possible, but DVD doesn't appreciate customer loyalty - at all. Maybe that's why their parking lot is always empty. Their website and stores are plastered with their "FREE 5/10 YEAR PROTECTION PLAN," but they don't honor it. I purchased a Bosch dishwasher (hardly a low budget brand!) less than 3 years ago. It's not working at all, and this extremely rude woman in service named Mack told me sorry - didn't come with the warranty. She spoke to me like I'm an idiot and explained that the warranty isn't always offered -- for example in vet clinics, multi-family housing, budget brands or price match purchases -- NONE of which applied to me. When I bought the dishwasher, I didn't shop anywhere else. I walked into their store, selected the one I wanted and paid their price. I wasn't told that it didn't come with their warranty. I asked Mack to speak to the store manager at least 5 times, and she would NOT transfer me. She also said she would look further at my account and call me back. Someone else at the store who I spoke to prior to Mack said he would do the same. I have never received a call back. So yesterday I went to Lowe's and purchased a new dishwasher. I also need to replace my washer/dryer and my refrigerator. You lost out on the sale of three appliances, DVD. I will never shop your empty store again! SHAMEFUL the way you treat your customers! We bought a set of kitchen appliances from Dick Van Dyke and learned the hard way that their warranty is not at all what they advertise. We had a Samsung dishwasher that in a little over a year broke down and could not be fixed. In spite of the warranty, they said that because we hadn't had 4 service calls in the preceding 12 months, they wouldn't replace it. We finally got Samsung to replace it. Second dishwasher had almost $500 repair bill on it after serviceman told us warranty would cover it all- there would be no charge. DVD claimed that our warranty started when we got the first dishwasher so we were now past warranty. Did manage to get manufacturer to pay part of bill. Wouldn't buy from them again. read more

Placed an order for a black stainless steel refrigerator online for my daughter's family as her fridge was failing. Interacted with Kyle via email. Kyle emailed that the model we ordered was not in stock, even though website stated different. He said it would take three weeks or more. So we waited, finally after four weeks we got an email saying it would be delivered the next day. Then Kyle emails that it did not arrive on their truck and it would be another three weeks. Now we asked if an alternative fridge was available and we found one on their website for $100 less. Kyle had emailed that he was sorry for the delay and would refund the $69 delivery fee. After two more weeks the alternate fridge arrived and was dented, the technical offered a $50 damage refund, which was appreciated. I tried to contact Kyle with no luck as I should have been refunded the delivery fee and difference in price of the alternate refrigerator. This never did happen and Kyle has been unresponsive since. Over the years we've purchased appliances form DVD, no issues. This past week I had them install a new motor my refrigerator, the tech was nice and courteous. A few days after the job we noticed our fridge is really loud, we can hear the motor and it is annoying. I wouldn't recommend using dick van dyke. My daughter bought a washer October 24, brought it home and it won't work, called on Monday told them the earliest they could send someone out was Friday. Conveniently they sent someone out tuesday only to find out we needed to order a part, which would take 3-5 business days. Still had not heard anything and it had been 7 days . So we called and wow the part is in but they can't get to her to until November 10, I asked if they had another washer on the floor the we could exchange it for, of course not, and to return the washer there is a 20% restocking fee. The process for making an appointment is ridiculous you first speak with a live technician they ask you if you would like an a.m. appointment or p.m. appointment. You choose a p.m. appointment and a robot text you your technician will arrive at your house at 9 AM then if you say no not available, you have to start all over and then when you do get the appointment time right they could be up to an hour or two late getting there. read more

They do the bare minimum and no more, and it takes weeks for them to do even that. They simply don't care about their reputation. We bought a washer and dryer for them. They were installed incorrectly. We've been using them for less than a year and the washer has already failed. They can't get out here for more than a week, and they refuse to fix the mistake they made installing them. Based on past experience, we know it's going to take at least another week after they come out the first time to order the part and make a second appointment. We've also had them out to fix our refrigerator multiple times. It's failed over and over. The failures aren't necessarily their fault, but the weeks between appointments and follow ups are. I was offered a $50 credit and a $100 credit for damaged product. Dick Van Dyke appliance service is a joke at least for this occurrence. Our Samsung oven wasn't heating correctly. It is a dual oven and the lower oven wasn't heating correctly. We called to have someone come and check it out. The tech apparently needed some help so he called another tech. This is where the ridiculousness starts. That person told the onsite tech to plug in the oven. When he did apparently he had something touching the control board and popped the breaker but did not check or asked to check the breaker and told my wife the board arced when he applied power and told her the board is now dead and nothing would work. We had a fully functional stove and oven prior to this with exception to the lower over not heating up properly. No other troubleshooting was done to my knowledge. We receive a call the next day stating it would be $840 to replace the board. We thought that was a touch high. I did some research and found the control board to cost around $200. So now we figure why buy a board we will just buy a new range. I happened to find the breaker was tripped in the breaker box. I plugged the oven back in and what do you know. All worked. Even the bottom oven. The customer service rep so far has not been helpful. We tried to explain to the customer service rep we had a working stove until the tech did his troubleshooting. We were told that is the chance you take when you call for service. They want us to pay for a service call where all he did was make it worse then left and really did nothing. So here is my recommendation - research the appliance brands and find the appliance with the best repair record and buy it from the store with the best price. Buy the 5 year warranty contract. If I could give zero stars at this point, I would. We had a repair guy come out to fix our washer because we were getting an SD error code. Long story short, he had to come out twice, never texted when he was on his way either time, nor was he able to fix the washer either time and said the only other possibility was to replace the control board. We were charged $140 and half of that was for him to disassemble the washer to remove HIS OWN TOOLS THAT HE DROPPED INSIDE OUR WASHER. The next day, I searched google and youtube, found a $12 part that we needed on amazon (not the control board, it was a hub for the actuator) and my husband fixed it in about 2 minutes. If all of that wasn't enough, calling customer service was just as bad. I called once, was promised a call back which never came. A week later, the same thing. Fast forward another week, I called a third time and all they said was there was nothing they could do. Not that it mattered much, but being customer service, they should've at least called me back instead of me having to call them 3 times, but apparently that was asking too much just like asking them to make things right for their repair man not being able to do his job. read more

We are military stationed in Korea. Dick Van Dyke delivered our appliance to our rental home, damaged the refrigerator as they moved it in. Did not notify the renter then they held us responsible as the renter signed the invoice. I wish I'd bought from Lowe's, we tried to do right by Decatur, but this just proves that it is not a place we will ever return to in the future. The supervisor would not even speak with me. I purchased a freezer Friday morning. They checked twice with their warehouse while I was there to verify they had it. I received a call later that afternoon that they did not have the item and would not have it for at least 6 weeks, possibly longer. No offer of a refund was made just that they would do what they could to make it sooner but could guarantee nothing. I was uneasy letting them keep my $1000 with nothing to show and no guarantee of delivery so I went in the next day and asked what could be done. They offered no help other than to cancel my order. They can credit our money but it will take 7-14 business days to get it back. Stay away from this place. They only want your money, don't care how they get it and really don't care what happens once they do!! read more

I have bought 3 appliances from them all at different times. My washer being the oldest, I've had for 3 years and finally the pump quit working on it. Only problem I've had with any of them. It took them about a week to get to me but that is understandable because people are making more money on unemployment than showing up to work so everyone is understaffed! The technician came in and said if the pump is bad it's free of charge with the warranty they offer, but if it's clogged then it would cost me which is understandable! Was here about 45 minutes replaced the pump free of charge! Service tech was friendly and got the job done! Also if you buy an appliance from them and it's on backorder don't expect the deadline the appliance manufacturer to be correct because of how hard it is to get people to go to work and the parts are getting harder to get because of that! I am sure this is a fine place to do business if you buy a problem-free product. However if you have the misfortune of purchasing a lemon like we did (clothes dryer), then good luck because you are on your own. The only bright spot there is an employee by the name of Tiffany, who did ultimately get the problem resolved for us, but only after the rest of the departments threw up a wall of attitude at each turn - every phone call, every visit to the store. What should have been an easy resolution instead resulted in days of stress, anger, and frustration.
