We've used Dickey's twice. Once for a kitchen remodel (2017) and once for a master bath (2025). Dickey's may cost a bit more, but the quality and service are the best. They provide outstanding project leads who are highly experienced, pay close attention to details and are easy to work with. Dickey's goes to great lengths to protect your home and keep it clean during the remodel. We just finished the bath remodel. After inspection, I had zero items on the punch list! Hired for an accessible bathroom remodel for my father with ALS. Project was quoted at taking 8 weeks. At 11 weeks post demo, the man the bathroom was for passed away. It was then they decided to use the closet as a staging area and get all sorts of dust, dirt and debris all over the remaining clothes and items. Contract stated it would remain sealed off. At 14 weeks we requested things get moved along as we would like to sell. Finally then was there a little hustle seen from an outside perspective. Still, it took 2.5 weeks longer to finish. 2 months longer than quoted, with no delays in getting supplies. Bathroom looks great, but at too steep a price (70k) and too much sanity. Living in construction chaos, waking up early 5 days a week, having no true privacy for twice as long as was promised was miserable. Look elsewhere. read more

I had booked a consultation with Bruce Strait, he was very professional and easy to speak to. He was approachable and straight forward and was upfront when he told me that the company was not a good fit for the projects I had in mind. He still did the walk through and gave me a good idea for numbers and a pro tip for accepting bids and contactors. He followed up with recommendations for contractors that might be a better fit. Dickey's completely remodeled our small master bathroom and hot water system for about $50,000. After looking at what needed to be done, we were sent an email itemizing the work and ending with an estimate. This was a good idea, because it warned us roughly how much the contract would be when it was drawn up. The work took a while but it was very meticulous and the very good natured man who did the work was skilful in carrying it out and consulted us frequently. Unforeseen contractual issues were dealt with in a friendly manner. When sub-contractors came, someone from Dickey's was always present. They too did good work. Please note that this is NOT a review of the quality of Tim Dickey's work. He has a reputation for doing excellent quality work; he ended up doing no work for us. Rather this is a description of our experience with him and his team that I hope will better prepare others as they consider working with him. He was referred to us; at our first meeting we reviewed what we wanted to do and told him our budget. He told us he thought our budget was "a little tight", but "we'll make it work." He then said he needed to determine "the scope of the project" before he could give us a final estimate. In order to determine the scope of the project he told us that we would work with his subcontractors and designer. Because he had assured us that he could work with our budget, we signed a preliminary contract and started working with the designer to choose products and finishes. $12,000 later and eight months later, he told us he could not do the job for less than $508,000, almost twice our initial budget. Not only was it an amount that we could not afford, but it made no sense given the value of the house. When we told him we could not move forward, his response was, "We work with so many people whose budget is not really their budget, that I didn't expect it to be a problem." If you are planning to work with this contractor, I advise creating a relatively firm estimate prior to investing in 'his' people, or, better yet find an equally capable, more ethical person to work with. After stringing us along for a whole month, Tim Dickey told us that our project of adding a cabinet to our kitchen was too small of a job for him and also too much of a hassle. For a whole month, he kept telling us that he was waiting to hear from his suppliers to be able to price the project and then he suddenly decided to drop us rudely. I suggest that you don't waste your time with this company. Find someone who is more honest. read more
