View across the street was pretty

All of the things I read said that we have to try this place! It's delicious food but I wish the fish was a little thicker and batter thinner. I guess cutting costs! It's expensive, tourists prices, old and beat up inside, kind of dirty, worn out furnishings. The service was great tho, very nice people for sure. I would maybe take it to go and eat at the park across the street :)

No complaints here. Great food. Large portions and really tasty. The fried oysters were my favourite. Would defiantly recommend.

Great little escape from inclimate weather while waiting for the ferry or water taxi. No frills... they have awesome fries, and great fish, served in proper non printed newspaper and with really groovy "aesthetically pleasant in their utilitarianism" tables with holes in them for your chip cone to sit in. Condiments aplenty, and random family pictures of the staff shaving their heads for charity and doing general local do goodery. great place, great food and great people. I sound lame, but its true. GREAT outside seating too.

Yummy fish and chips! It's not overly greasy and there isn't half an inch of batter to get through before reaching the fish! My coworker got the deep fried oysters and fries, and the portion was huge!! It looked like the equivalent of an 8 piece fish and chips meal or something crazy like that. The coleslaw was a little bland, but I don't go for fish and chips to eat coleslaw, so who cares!

Crispy, GBD (golden brown and delicious) fish, fries that are crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, proper coleslaw. . . Yes, please! We couldn't decide between the cod and halibut. Allyssa accommodated our indecision with a piece of each! My husband couldn't resist a trio of cod, halibut and salmon! Only 'ding' is the tartar sauce: not enough of it and a bit bland. Spritz your fish and chips with malt vinegar for more traditional zing. And order the deep fried apple pie with Island Farms vanilla ice cream, even if you don't have room! The holes in the tables, by the way are to hold the giant cones of fried goodness. Wash the meal down with a Growers cider (pear or peach, I prefer pear) and you'll leave happy! Reasonable prices, parking across the street, view of the harbor and the strait. Absolutely awesome!!

5 stars for the fish. Pretty damn good but loss of 2 stars for the chips. Soggy and limp. If you are going for be a fish AND chip place both need to be top notch. We ordered the halibut. It was fresh and cooked well. Batter light and crispy. Fish Juicy. Service friendly. Work on the chips.

Food was great with long lineups. But worth it. Looked like family run business. Great to support local business!

I feel a little guilty…read moretelling the world about this place, as part of its charm is its remote setting and local clientele, but alas, the food was so tasty I feel it a crime against Red himself not to spread the word. Red's is based in a store that looks like a wooden fishing boat, very cute. Red himself and his serving staff have genuine island hospitality, and the fish is so fresh I think it almost leapt from my hands and back into its watery home, situated mere steps from the restaurant. All of the seating is outside and the view of Fords Cove is stunning. I recommend getting your "f&c's" to go and walk around the coast a few minutes over the sandstone to find a spot to watch the fishing boats cruise by. My halibut and chips were amazingly fresh with light crispy batter and the onion rings are KILLER -chunky and crispy with sweet onion with that x-factor that only comes with homemade goods. The condiment stand was packed with everything you need - vinegar, ketchup, sweet green relish, mustard....the list goes on. Red's knows how serve up island style food - honest, delicious and made with love.

Great fish & chips. A bit pricey, but well worth it. Expect a ten minute wait on average, but…read morethey'll yell out your name if you've gone for a walk (we usually wander down the dock to look at all the boats). To fully enjoy your meal, load up on the bounty of condiments and find a place to sit among the rocks along the water of Ford's Cove. (Note: Rumor has it that Red's is going to close this location by next year and open one closer to the Bakery or the Co-op. Hopefully they'll just add a 2nd location??)
