Was fortunate to find a great bicycle, color, size, cost and I certainly bought it. Unfortunate that I bought a service plan for 2 years. I had a flat tire and was told it would take at least 7 days to fix and maybe more because I had the service plan and to contact the company to cover the repair may take longer. A flat tire takes about 15 minutes to fix. Dicks is not the place to go for bike repair. read more

This is a complaint and warning about Dick's Sporting Goods in Sarasota Florida. I was unfortunately misled into purchasing a product that is not legal in the league where I play and, when I returned it, would not be accepted for a refund or credit toward the purchase of a legal product. Just to get me out of the store, they suggested that I reach out to the manufacturer and ask them to facilitate the exchange. I was incredulous, of course, because one would never expect a manufacturer to facilitate the exchange of a product that was sold through either misguided or self-serving misrepresentation by one of its retailers. Indeed, I just heard back from the manufacturer who said that they will only exchange a bat with the defects. I am not even going to bother to take this back to Dick's because I know I would get upset and nobody wants to get upset about being ripped off when they're holding a baseball bat. The product I am referring to is a softball bat for the Senior League of Sarasota. When I explained what I needed and what league I was in, Dick's employee told me to buy a senior softball bat that is a certified 1.20. When I got to the first game in the league, I was told the bat needed to be a 1.21. When I returned to Dick's with proof of purchase and the bat in perfectly good shape (virtually unused) they would not issue a refund or credit. They said they would not do so because the wrapper had been removed and yet several bats were for sale on the rack without wrappers. The bat that I have is no use to me. I have since learned through an internet chat on the Dicks website that Dick's does not even carry the type of bat that I want, which certainly adds to the suspicion that the sale was made so the guy would get a commission or some kind of sales credit rather than send me empty handed to another store. I have been a long-time customer of Dick's and had even bought another product at the same time as I bought the bat. We often shopped for clothes. Now I'm going to give the brand new bat to Goodwill, spend $100 or more on the type bat that is legal for our league, and suffer the $89 loss that Dick's has foisted upon me. I had always Associated the retail chain with good customer service, a nice product selection, and a sufficient level of quality and service expertise, as well as product selection, that the higher prices are worth it. It goes without saying that I will never shop there again and I have spent the time, plus $89, to write this negative review and warning to you. If you trust them to give you informed service, to be accountable for their mistakes, and to stand behind you economically when you are counting on them, your trust is not well placed with Dick's Sporting Goods, at least not in Sarasota. The store sells a wide range of low-rise athletic shoes, but they don't sell any shoelaces that fit them. In addition, I could not find an employee anywhere in the store to ask where they were, so I spent at least five minutes walking around the shoe department having to find them myself. All they have is laces that are for high rise basketball shoes. The stock problem is ridiculous, but having to walk around half the store to look for an employee and not find one is inexcusable. read more

Don't even try to stop at this location. Very rude personnel, no AC, and very limited inventory. I made the mistake of stopping by a few weeks ago while running errands in the area. I have a membership since at least 7 years ago, and at this time, I paid almost $200 for some items and on my way out, the people that were not where to be found; when I was in need of help. They all appeared and activated the alarm when I was getting through the sensors, on my way out. Off course the pseudo-I wanna be important supervisor? Shout out very loudly and un-politely: "what you got there?" To what I responded, "stolen items off course" he checked the bag and said: "you good"...with not apologies for his lack of minimal courtesy. Off course I was okay. But I'm "brown", so I guess their policy consist on racist protocols that requires the activation of alarms on not"white looking people" because during my whole time there no other person went through an experience even close to mine. Nothing like having a group of four people tell you they're too busy to fill a $4 tank of CO2. You ask to talk to the manager who is standing in a group of three people and voice your concerns she explains the store is so busy that no one can help me for 5 minutes that I can come back tomorrow so that's a total of 7 people standing in groups not assisting customers telling me I have to come back tomorrow why couldn't they just fill it I was a customer wanting to spend money. Great selection of kayaks and everything you need for getting in the water. I purchased my bike here a couple of years ago and they offer in store tuneups and service. Also a good selection of outerwear and gear for camping. I'm not a golfer but they have a large area devoted to the sport so I assume you can find what you need. The loyalty program sucks but it's not this stores fault. Another benifit is order online and have them shipped for free to the store. Staff is always friendly and helpful too! read more

Finding insulated, waterproof hiking boots in Florida is no joke. I had a hard time thinking of places that would have any in stock. Low and behold, I saw Dick's Sporting Goods and thought I'd give it a shot. I was definitely in luck. They did have a few pairs of Merrell and Timbs which I tried on. As it was a Monday, the place was pretty quite, so I received help right away. They man who pulled the boots was very nice, though he did disappear a little too quickly. Of course, there were plenty of other athletic shoes for both men and women, and lots of other goods around the store. I took a look at some of the clothing in hopes of buying some shorts or other workout gear, but somewhat disappointed in the price. I mean, $35 for b-ball shorts and $25 for plain sleeveless Ts? Seems a little high, but then again, what do I know about sporting goods anyway. Overall, a pretty well-stocked store and pleasant staff. They need to train their employees on respecting customers. They have the rudest customer service I have ever had. I typically don't write bad reviews. I always give the benefit of having a bad day. Dee (a supervisor) and Cheyene were fully aware of their arrogance. Short Explaination... Mom was buying slides. Sales attendant came up to mention the bogo 50% off sale. Mom asked what is included in that sale. Sales attendant is not sure so goes to verify with someone else. Comes back and clarifies that any sandal equal or lesser value as long as their is not a red sticker on it. Mom had a pair of slides and flops in her hand, she said ok so I can get these bogo 50% off. Sales attendant says yes as long as they don't have a red sticker. That was not the case. Instead of apologizing for the inconvenience. Cheyene & Dee were rude and condescending cutting us off when trying to explain that the sales attendant is who said we could. They both implied we were lying! Really? Over a pair of shoes I am going to lie. Ridiculous! We had just checked out with $92 worth of gear. As my mom checks out behind us, Dee yells out "My name is Dee in case you need to know that!" then he and Cheyene begin laughing hysterically at my mom. She came out to tell us that the rudeness continued after we checked out and left. We turned around and returned our $92 purchase. We will not be returning. You think that is not a hit....we are just 2 customers what does it matter. If they were so blatantly rude to us. I am positive it happens frequently. They were proud of their behavior. Husband and I went to Dicks to check out new golf clubs. Paul was absolutely awesome. He worked with both of us for almost 2 hours, letting us try new clubs. We left, then came back an hour before his shift was up. Again he let us both try out other clubs. Both of us ended up with new irons. A set of Pings and I got a set of Cobras. Dennis in the golf dept noticed my putter was crooked. I bought a new putter and he and regriped it and recommended I lengthen it. He did both and even adjusted the weight. Thanks Dennis. I just want to take a minute to thank the store manager and a very nice and helpful employee that went above and beyond to help me. His name way Ryan and he was working in the fishing department when I stopped in the store the week before last. I recently purchased an Ugly Stick in an Orlando location and my first time I took my rod out after we few casts somehow a screw popped out of the reel and I had no way of pulling my line in except by hand and rolling it back up myself and using a ponytail to hold it together. It was extremely disappointing. I went into Dicks to see if they sold a screw I could get to fix the reel and sadly they don't sell the parts. Ryan took time to listen to me and help me fix my rod. I can't express how grateful I am for him taking the time and coming up with a fair and easy solution. The customer service exceeded my expectations and I will continue to be a loyal customer! I would give this location negative stars if that were an option. I've just had a terrible experience at a Dick's Sporting Goods. My husband and I went in together stocking up on all thingsfishing because we just entered a tournament. When we get there we gather over $300 of purchases but the poles we picked up were advertised 2 for $35 on their shelf. We couldn't find a second one for the deal advertised so we grabbed a cheaper smaller one of the same brand. When we go to check out they cannot allow us to get the second pole as part of the deal even though it's cheaper and they don't have the stock to honor the placard advertising he deal in front of the poles. So then I say I'll pay for the second pole still and they can ship it to my house or I'll come pick it up when they get more in. Nope they won't do that either. Then I say just take the amount off the second pole to equal the deal price. Nope won't do that either. So then they flat out say there is nothing they can do for me to honor their advertised deal for which they only have one pole and no way for me to walk out with it unless purchasing it and not trying the deal or not walking out with any poles and ordering online. Completely dissatisfied and mistreated as a customer, I opt to order the poles because they aren't going to honor their deal in store and want to charge me twice what the deal is for two poles even though the other is smaller and cheaper than the pole included in the deal. I ask to place the order, well now they can't even do it in the same transaction and I have to do two separate transactions for one of which I have to go to the back of the store for. So we abandon the other purchases and place the order for the special advertised and leave with nothing. The manager Tod did nothing for customers service or the customer experience at the Bradenton location. When something is advertised IN THE STORE IN FRONT OF THE PRODUCTS it is up to the store to fulfill that advertisement because they are wrongfully advertising in front of products they do not have to fulfill what they are "offering". That it take down the sale being advertised. With so many options for places to go for sporting goods I would have expected to be better taken care of as a potential repeat customer. We were well prepared to spend a decent amount of money in one visit and would have most likely been repeat customers for many of our sporting needs, by it shouldn't be that difficult to spend money. We will not be returning to Dick's because of this experience and we will do our best to let our friend and family know about the lack of customer service and false advertising by this location. I hope this was a mistake in management and not Dick's way of doing business nationwide. read more
