Clean, well organized store. Staff is always helpful. Golf prices are a tad high, but thats corporate for yuo.

This store is horribly organized. The staff are sometimes friendly and are there when you need them. The prices are a little high, but what most disappointed me was the shoe selection for girls/women. We came here to buy basketball shoes for my daughter, yet there were only about 6 shoes only in black and white. The men/boy's section of basketball shoes practically takes up the whole wall. My daughter knew that this place only has good shoes for boys and men due to another bad experince. She saw these soccer cleats that were in the women's section and showed me. We called an employee over and he said they were men's shoes. The whole store is not that orgainized and the staff are always "busy". We have left this store several times with nothing in hand. Would not be suprised if this happened again. read more

I went to the fishing department at Dicks Sports today in Freehold. An elderly gentleman that works in the fishing department was just about as nasty and sarcastic as I have seen in a retail setting. I was set on purchasing a new salt water fishing rod and reel and asked several questions. With each question I asked, the salesperson just kept criticizing my questions. I asked if they would line the reel. He said they can but its as easy as driving a car...."you can drive a car can't you".... and after about 6 comments or criticizing my questions I just walked away. I will not be purchasing much from Dicks in Freehold anytime soon again. Just as well, I live in Freehold and will make sure that others know how bad their customer service is. I have been into this store before and each time they have attitude or they are just downright rude. I will seek out a better sporting goods store with a polite crew that at least tries to help. Poor service, poor prices, poor attitude. read more

The customer service at this location is terrible. I visited today and needed to use a fitting room. On the second floor, the first employee I encountered firmly stated he was on his way out (as in his shift ended). He notified another employee by pressing the help button in the fitting room area. I waited 5 plus minutes. While looking out over the balcony, I see another employee slowly make his way to the escalator, then up it, then walked by me, making eye contact but saying nothing and continued to walk away. I had to run after him and advise I needed to use the fitting room. He states yeah I know but I don't have a key so a female employee should be on her way up. Alright then, its now 10 minutes and I'm about to leave. The female employee makes her way up the escalator and not one word came out of her mouth. The expression on her face was one of utter aggravation. She passed inches in front of me, saying not one word. She opened the door, gave me a look then left. I understand one bad apple but that's three. Poor customer service is a direct reflection of management effectiveness. Its not surprising that despite the rampant negative reviews of this location, customer service still does not improve. If that wasn't bad enough, the fitting room hasn't seen a vacuum or a wet rag in ages. There were mounds of dust bunnies, the walls and mirror were filthy and strewn tags and bits of paper everywhere. Suffice to say I left the store without purchasing anything. After reading the reviews, I'd say I lucked out because I intended to use a Dick's coupon! read more

Purchased one of their best golf club sets online and came with the security tag still on one of the clubs. They shipped me a whole replacement set instead of just the one club but the replacement set was missing a club cover and 2 clubs scratched as they appeared to be store floor display. Then I had to package up and ship the first set back to them with no sorry, discount or anything. Poor, Poor Service! I complained but no response after two weeks! read more

Upon entering the store you will notice that the outside planting is totally overgrown with weeds. It looks horrible. Yes, I agree with the other reviewers, the store has a lot of product. And I agree with everyone else.. THE STAFF THERE IS TERRIBLE. I gave up shopping and found what I needed on-line. read more

To whom it may concern as well as those customers who are deciding on choosing Dick's Sporting Goods in Freehold, NJ. I went into the golf section to get some assistance with my cleats since I had very little experience removing and/or replacing the spikes. So when I asked an older gentlemen who seemed to have experience in this department to assist me, he stated, "I am too busy right not, I have a lot of other things to do!" He did not find someone else to help me or continue to speak with me any further. I figured since I was a paying customer that I was a priority, but I guess some Dick's employees have better things to do other than help me. I will "Never" go to that Dick's Sporting Goods again, but I will attempt to give the company one more chance at another location. Finally, you better believe I will use all of my resources to sway my large network of athletes to do the same as I have done. read more

Rude managerial staff, and orders placed online are kicked out unless you rush down and get them, contrary to the email confirmation of "please pick up within 96 hours", which should read: "do so or your order is lost, and we do not care". read more

This establishment does not even deserve one star. Terrible customer service especially in the shoe department. An male associate actually argued with me because I wanted to try on three pairs of cleats. He was angry that he would have to carry 3 shoe boxes?! The stock in this store is always disorganized and hard to find. There are always boxes in the way. The store is not easy to shop. read more

Sneaker dept could not find 3 different pairs disappearing for 10-15 minutes at a time young man was totally inept then spoke to older associate he says everything is a mess and it's the way it is left without sneakers purchased other items when at register Cierra could not be bothered and texting on personal phone during transaction. The worst custmer service I went to return a pair of brooks I bought from there the manager was so loud and rude he refused to return the pair because I wore it I told him without wearing it u can't find out if it hurts or not. I called brooks directly and they send me a new pair plus let me kept the old one .I will never go to dicks again . Worst manager and worst custmer service read more

Just recently found out that Dicks let their best archery guy (Bob) go for something stupid. He was always helpful and professional, not a good move by Dicks. I know a lot of guys that used him in archery, will have to shop somewhere else to get archery service. read more

Selection good, prices meh, staff seems to get more unfriendly as time goes on. I don't really know how long this store will make it given that sort of reality. Online shopping makes selection relatively unimportant. I can hop on amazon, have a huge selection at optimal pricing. Going to a store really means going to get help when you're not really sure what direction to go on some product decision. That's where Dick's Sporting Goods fails the hardest, the point where they could most prove their value. Oh well. read more

I am a retired law enforcement officer and went to purchase some ammunition. I was told by the sales person that I would need to produce my "FID" card (firearms purchasers ID card) and my drivers license. I explained to him that I was not looking to purchase a firearm, only ammunition. I then produced my law enforcement ID, as well as my concealed carry permit (CCP), which contains exactly the same information as an "FID" card, and my drivers license. He then told me he could not sell the ammunition without a FID card. After a 5 minute debate where I explained the information is exactly the same (CCP even has a photograph whereas a FID does not) I then asked to speak with a manager who sided with his employee. According to the State of NJ, in order to sell, transfer, purchase or otherwise acquire any handgun ammunition in New Jersey, the transferee must be a licensed gun dealer, wholesaler or manufacturer, or possess a Firearms Purchaser Identification Card, a permit to purchase a handgun, OR a permit to carry a handgun. I have been a loyal customer for many years, but needless to say, after this experience I will now take my business to my local gunsmith even if it requires paying a higher price. read more
