No wonder why the name of the store is called DICK's Sporting goods. My boyfriend and I came to this store to check out multiple things a few months ago. I noticed we didn't get a greeting as we walked in like everyone else. Then I noticed the associates kept following us around & they were consistently asking if we needed help. It was quiet uncomfortable to look around any further so we left. On Sunday, I witness a worker (a man with spiky hair around 5"8) yelling at two little boys. I thought it was really unnecessary for him to be yelling at them for running around the store. If those were my kids I would have definitely had him fired because it was truly unacceptable... especially because they had, had to be under age 11. Very rude, horrible service... Drove here from San Jose specifically for a backpacking/traveling backpack 40L-70L size. The R.E.I. in Santa Clara/San Jose had a much better offering comparatively. However for athletic clothing and actual sporting goods this Dick's is well above par. Perhaps a strong competitor would be the Dick's located in Schaumburg, IL. So I won't count them out for sports gear but for a large backpack for my 2week trip to Colombia this store did not satisfy. Verdict: for sports/athletic/workout gear definitely come here but bring a coupon if you can as suggested retail is basically the law here with small exception of the discount racks. read more

We were looking for two specific items in the Men's clothing department. We had the SKU # and all other information required to locate the two items. The online information said the items were available at this location. We approached a salesperson in the department and immediately realized how useless this person was. We told him we have all the information on the item, and all he did was point us in the direction. He even said if we saw it online, it doesn't mean we have them here. If this is the type of salespeople you hire, don't expect to have repeat customers. I recommend staying away from this sporting goods shop. So Dick's Sporting Good store in Fremont opened up this past weekend, November 1-2, 2014. This store is huge and has a lot better selection for fitness gear, workout clothing, running shoes, soccer cleats, shooting sports, and fishing than Sports Authority or Sports Chalet! It's about time Fremont has a store like Tri City from back in the day! I was amazed of the selection and would definitely be a returning customer! I don't really come here for the customer service, which isn't all that horrible by the way. It would compare it to going to a random liquor store - it's really hit or miss. The real reason why I come to this store is because they have some really good deals sometimes. Even if they don't have a good deal going on, their equipment is a million times better than anything Big-5 could sell. One other reason why I like coming here is because they have a pretty decent selection of ammo and hunting gear. Walked in & the place is so big!! My friend & I were also greeted with a warm welcome! Everything was organized & everything out into its respective corners. I didn't get to fully see everything because it was so big! Though, as soon as I walked, I knew what I was looking for because it was right in front. I love browsing through sporting goods stores in general; however, in my opinion only, Dick's Sporting Goods is just okay. They try to cover a lot of bases by stocking a lot of merchandise, but each specialized department (camping, guns, fishing, baseball, and etc.) does nothing particularly well. What I find disappointing about Dick's Sporting Goods is that their prices are on the high side, unless there is a promotion going on. In addition to this, there are not competitive where price matching is concerned. The store opened at 9AM. I arrived at about 10:30AM. I was literally the only customer in the entire store. The item I went to purchase was on the top shelf in the outdoor section. There was no one there to help me. Had they left a ladder nearby I would have gotten it myself. Finally a young girl walked by. Let me say my overall "looking and shopping" process went pretty well. I went to go purchase some soccer gear and an employee named Julie was really really helpful. She was very eager to help which was pretty solid since we had to look through stock piles of shoeboxes. She's the reason I'm even willing to give 2 stars instead of 1. However, the 2 stars is because of their check out lane. There was no line when I went to ring out all my soccer gear. When I approached the register, a girl named Holly (Hollyann according to my receipt) was ringing me out. I dont know why but she really really really rushed me through the check out. There was no line so I don't see the reason she did so. I took the time of day to sign up for a Scorecard, so it would've been nice if she took the time of day to slow down and look at all my items. I didn't mind the rushed checkout until I got home. I only bought 5 items, and 2 of them were just snacks. As I got home, I opened up my bag to check out what I've bought ONLY TO SEE SHE LEFT THE SENSOR ON one of the items I've bought. This annoyed me so much so a few simple reasons 1) I'm not from Fremont, so now I have to drive my ass there to get the tag removed. (Like are you guys going to reimburse me for gas and time your ignorant employee wasted? But it is neatly organized by sections and I generally start at the left and wonder my way around the store though all the different sections. I got to the store and had to ask someone where the raquets were kept (they were not anywhere close to the tennis raquets). The only available raquets were some $10 ones. Very disappointed. I happened to be in the area and I have been wanting to stop in a Dick's Sporting Goods for a while. I've seen flyers and it looked like they have a great selection. I was surprised at how large the store is. I actually have a long list of stuff I wanted to buy for an upcoming camping trip. First time at Dick's. Had a $20 gift card from Father's Day last year that has been riding around in my wallet ever since... I was pleasantly surprised at how upscale the store was, yet also disappointed there weren't more things to spend my $20 on. I had hoped for a pair of khaki-style cotton hiking pants, but all the pairs I found were made of various, synthetic high-tech fabrics (not my style). This is what happened to My Sister at Dicks Sporting Goods! Racist workers working here! On Wednesday, 12/9/15 at approximately 5:45p.m., I shopped at my local Dick's Sporting Goods store located in Fremont, California. I went to the firearms section of the store and was greeted by three store clerks. I inquired about .223 ammunition prices/brands and was told that there was a deal on bulk ammunition. I asked if there was a limit on how much I could buy as there are sometimes limitations depending on availability. Because I am a firearms instructor, it's always convenient to have ammunition readily available at home if my friends/family wants to go to the shooting range. One of the clerks told me there were no limitations. I told him that I would come back during the weekend to purchase a few boxes. I went to the fitness section of the store to purchase what I originally intended (an elevation fitness mask which conditions your lungs when you work out; this is NOT a ski mask). I made my purchase via credit card and walked out of the store. Two days later, on Friday, 12/11/15, two Fremont Police officers came to my home asking who in my household had shopped at Dick's Sporting Goods Fremont location. I responded that it was me and identified myself. I was asked to provide photo identification, the product that I purchased, and my receipt. The officers explained that employees at Dick's Sporting Goods had contacted the police department and reported me as a "suspicious" customer because I wanted to purchase ammunition. He also told me that this was a reaction to the San Bernardino incident. I explained why I was inquiring about ammunition and provided the officers with all qualifications and credentials as a firearms instructor including U.S. Department of Justice Firearms Safety Instructor Certification and the National Rifle Association Certified Firearms Instructor card. I also explained that my passion for shooting came from being involved in law enforcement, starting as a Union City Police Explorer when I was 14 years old, and through the present as I am now in the hiring process for both the Los Angeles Police Department and the Fremont Police Department. After dozens of questions and then after countless apologies from both officers, I was filled with a mixture of emotions. Anger, sadness, I felt violated, and I kept asking myself "what did I do wrong?" Would this have happened if I didn't look the way I do? Would I have been less "suspect" if I didn't look the way I do? Living in Fremont, we're surrounded around such a diverse community. Has this happened to other people who look like me? This incident is evidence that racism and racial profiling is alive and exists everywhere. I ask for everyone's support in spreading awareness of this issue. This is not the way to fight terrorism. We have limited law enforcement resources and to use them this way is wasteful and ineffective. Racism has no place in this world and we need to come together and unite against it. **Note: I was not asking for unlimited ammunition. I was simply asking if there was a limit because when there is a sale, sometimes there is a limit (e.g. limit 2 per person, etc). I have friends who have bought ammunition in bulk (actually bought it and walked out of the store with it) multiple times, but have yet to have the police called on them. This store is huge! I have not even seen it all.... I have been here twice: Once to get something Sharks related for the Stadium Series game and then again to look at their football gear to get my son some football gloves. Their staff is friendly and both times asked if I needed any help. There was absolutely no lines for their registers AND when I went back to return the gloves (because they were too big) they didn't give me any issues at all. Their parking is not so great, but it is not their fault, since they do share it with the local movie theater and restaurant. Highly recommend. read more

Don't buy a bike from here. Price was good, but when it came time for some warranty service, I've never met a group of people with such incompetence. The bike techs were actually really kind and helpful, But they never got something done on the day they would say it would get done. Even the manager was at a loss of how to help me with a manufacturer warranty. Spoke to the manufacturer, they said bring it into dicks, they'll take care of it all. Brought it into dicks, they held it for two weeks. I called 4 times during this period, only to be told that they are speaking with the manufacturer and need to get the part. Finally I said screw it, i'll come pick up the bike since it's still rideable, and to give me a call when the part arrived. Speak to a manager when I get there, he says they won't order the part for me since i didn't buy their warranty protection plan. Ok fine, but did you need to hold my bike for 2 weeks to figure that out? I contact manufacturer, get items shipped to me within 3 days, bring bike back, they say we'll have this to you in 3 days. Sure, I'm fine with that... 4 days.... No call..... So I call, they say sorry, only one bike tech had the skill for that and he won't be in till next week. So I hold of another week. Call on Friday, yeah, we'll get to it tomorrow. You'll have it by sunday at latest. I notice it's now Monday.... Call.... Sadness..... Still not done. Oh, they confused my parts with someone else's so they held off on doing anything. Yay. Three days later, a few tears and a lot of whisky, and they finally call saying it's done. They would not let me exchange the bat for another and now I have no bat for her. I work hard for my money and 200 dollars is a lot to our family. When I heard that this store just opened in Fremont, I had really high expectations. All the other locations I've been to have been really nice, and their customer service is top notch! Don't get me wrong, I'm totally in love with the store itself. Their selection of cute gym clothes is excellent compared to other sporting goods stores, but is it really worth it to come here if you have to wait 15 minutes in line? They have multiple registers, but only have 2-3 people ringing people up. The line was about 20 people long & nobody came to help the other cashiers. The main reason why I'm disappointed is because I came here to do a return, and it took about 20 minutes to complete it. First the associate asked me for my Score Card info, and said he couldn't find it. This happens to me every single time I come in here. I gave him every piece of my info, and he still couldn't find it. Luckily, I had the number on the receipt. Their method of looking up someone's Score Card info should be reviewed by management because by him not finding it, I'm still wondering if I'm even registered or even receiving points. So we finally get to the return, and the associate had to call over two other associates to help him out, and the first one he called over didn't know what to do.
