They also have a nicely curated clothing section. The selection is small as many mention but this isn't REI. The products they do carry are top notch. The staff has great product knowledge and are well versed in the various outdoor sports and the local outdoor recreation spots to make sound recommendations. I want to reiterate how great the staff is. They truly make shopping here a pleasant experience. They have a loyalty program and have a few good sales throughout the year.

The course would be better to convert most of them to grass if they aren't affordable anymore. Cart paths are falling apart, all western Colorado courses would be better as gravel and maintained with a small grader for smoothness. There is work going on fixing wash outs etc and that's good to see but charging between $100 to 150 is way out of line considering current condition. I would only play there again if the rates drop well below $100.

I hadn't golfed in over 20 years when we moved here and I beat my teenage son by 1 stroke. Priceless. But this is what really earned them 5 stars. My mother in law passed away and I was put in charge of the reception after the funeral hall couldn't hold enough people. I started calling venues and Tim was great. My group and I have golfed at this course multiple times and LOVED it! Our last visit was probably the worst interaction I have ever had with a business in my entire life. People make mistakes which is understandable because we are humans. It was not busy and our group got holes #13 and #16 mixed up because they are right next to each other, an easy mistake that I am sure others have made before too. We tried to correct the mistake as seamlessly as possible to avoid disrupting the other golfers (wasn't very busy but now it makes sense knowing how people are treated here.) We decided to skip the hole we missed and continue on our way ensuring the people in front of us were okay with that and behind us. While we are waiting the marshall comes up and I kid you not shoved his finger in one of our faces and is just screaming profanities and being so aggressive. I have never seen somebody act like that and I thought he might be having a medical emergency based on his behavior. While I do know that some people do not know how to control themselves or speak to others in a human way I could not even justify the behavior demonstrated by the marshall. He would not even let our group say a word to explain the mistake which could've cleared up the entire problem. He chose to instead scream and disrupt every person on the back 9 who was trying to play. He went away after people came up trying to defend our group and get him to stop. Once again he drove up when he saw we were alone and decided it would be professional to continue yelling at us, once again, at that point, we were not doing anything wrong. The group behind us ended up joining ours, so we can just hurry up and get out of there. Once we finished, we went into the pro shop to see if there was somebody to talk to about his behavior. He was waiting there for us and still was aggressive, he is quoted telling me, "Don't shake your head like you know," once again talking down on us, targeting a woman. He chose to stand there and laugh and smile while our group expressed our concerns in a respectful manner. He chose to pick on our group and take his anger out on us for lord knows why. We were greeted with no respect here, and it honestly shocked me. We decided to leave and just get the director of golf's information, and once again the marshall, Woody's, behavior was completely dismissed and ignored. If a place allows a staff member to treat their customers like that I want no part in supporting that business. I am appalled at the behavior and actions of the staff at this course. If you feel like getting yelled at and degraded by a staff member this is the course for you! I also want to add that a Marshell's job is supposed to be to monitor the pace of play around the course. It took us 7 hours to finish 18 holes of golf. So on top of rude and aggressive treatment clearly the marshall isn't doing his job. Maybe a training on professionalism is needed.

Many greens and tee boxes are too close for average golfers, balls were cross crossing lots of holes. There was a cart on the course. A lot of par 4s where unreachable in regulation. We played this course on Sunday 5/26/2019 and as we approached the 6th green the group behind us drove into us we were walking on the green. The actual player that drove into us and one of the other members of the foursome were extreme jerks only offering a sarcastic, condescending apology and almost starting a fight. It was our second nine so we decided to just quit play and head back to the club house. Upon explaining the incident to the gentleman in the pro shop he was indifferent and just shrugged it off as "Oh well it happens." We will take our golf dollars to Orchard Mesa's Chipita course from now on.

As it happens, I was in the market for a new backpack for travels I will be taking in the near future. I was interested in a backpack that was either waterproof or watertight as I will be hiking in a coastal area that will be subjected to intermittent rainfall of a heavy nature. I called your store and inquired about such backpacks and was told that you had many to choose from. The following day August 10th I drove an hour to your store and began looking around in the backpack department. An employee who I assume was assigned to the department asked me if there was anything I was looking for. I opened the REI app on my phone and showed the man an example of what I was looking for. This employee was about 5'9" tall with brown hair and a short beard. I do not remember his name because the interaction was so unlike what I am used to at REI that I left completely confused. When I showed the employee, what I was looking for is immediate response was, " we don't carry that type of product, you need to go to Gear Junction. They will have everything you need." I looked at your employee with complete confusion as he was recommending that I go to a competitor and did not even bother to ask me why I was looking for a particular backpack. I said to the employee, I don't want to go Gear Junction, I always buy my hiking equipment at REI. He looked me straight in the face and said we don't carry waterproof rafting equipment here you need to go to Gear Junction. I attempted to explain to him that I was not going rafting that I was going hiking and why I was looking for a backpack. He seemed completely uninterested and again suggested I go to your competitor. Finally, I asked him. Is there anything in the store that you can show me That is in a 22 L size backpack so I can at least get an idea of what I'm looking for. He waved his arm briefly toward a rack of backpacks and said it'll be somewhere between here and there and then walked away. I stood there confused for a while and attempted to look at backpacks and finally decided to help with it. I had other items that I needed to look for, but I was so upset by this man's insistency that I go shop with the competitors that I left the store. I went to my car and sat there for a while and thought about doing this one star review then and there, and I even thought about going back into your store and asking to see the manager. However, I was so upset. I knew that that would not be the prudent thing to do so I came home and allowed myself to cool down. The following day did exactly what your employee suggested, and went to Gear Junction. The Young man working there was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about backpacks. After listening to what type of trip I was going to be taking he suggested that I probably did not need a completely waterproof backpack, but that what I needed was a water tight backpack. He showed me several, and the one that I liked the most was made by Osprey. I assume that you carry the same backpacks at REI. I eventually decided on a backpack for my trip, but I did not buy it at your REI store. This is unfortunate because I have shopped with REI since the day you opened at your old location on seventh Street. I am not suggesting that your employee was rude to me. He was not in the classical sense. However, he was completely disinterested as to why I was in the store or what I was looking for and to what end. Had he taken just a little bit of time to find out why And what I needed I would've bought something that day. As it is, you've lost out on a good sale and if I encounter this type of behavior again at your location, I will discontinue shopping local and identify the Denver store as my home store and just shop online. I do not like to do this as I like to support our local businesses. However, I will not support this complete lack of customer service. I hope that you take this review in stride and make the reasonable management decision to have a discussion with this employee so that this does not replicated itself in the future. Enclosing I will add that this is the first time this is ever happened to me at any REI location.
