Went to this location for some lacrosse gear and when I asked the staff they said that their location does not have lacrosse gear and suggested that we go to Florence KY location to get what we needed. We drove the extra 20 minutes only to be told that they don't carry lacrosse gear either. They could not even be bothered to check before having us drive to another location. Went in to get fitted for golf clubs and was assisted by David. He was incredibly helpful. Took time to teach me about the game, watched me swing and gave me tips on how to strike it better, and did not push anything expensive or unnecessary which is always a fear when you're making a purchase like this. Great all around experience and an excellent golf pro. Would recommend the store for golf needs. read more

It's amazing how many people who would have been unemployable 15 years ago have jobs. Went for a pair of very common shoes. Was helped by a kid who was super focused on his phone. Waited nearly 20 minutes only to be told that the only pair they had was being held which I take no issue with but I find it hard to believe it took 20 minutes to come to that conclusion. The stuff in there is way too pricey to have to put up with crappy service. Funny thing is that they lost a multiple item sell that day because I put a couple hundred dollars of additional merchandise back on the rack. You'd think they'd want to step customer service up in brick and mortar stores. Another reason why I prefer to shop online. read more

I came in to purchase a pair of running/workout shoes. Literally not one of the front end associates greeted me (about 5 of them standing there, talking amongst themselves). I go back to the shoe area, which is clearly under construction. I shouldn't have to ask for help if people are standing around doing literally nothing. No one came back to help assist me or even ask what I was looking for. I wasted about 15 minutes figuring things out on my own. Retail should be about making sales and making your customers want to come back, and that their dollars are valued. I literally felt so embarrassed to have wasted so much time, when one of the front end associates could have easily assisted me. Don't know if I'll be back at this location. read more

The customer service was so bad that I took the time to download yelp to post 1/5 stars and comment.... Buckle up. The lack of help and general awareness reminded me of a late K Mart (RIP) I visited just before the company tanked. The cashier up front had a pulse but it appeared the shoe department "supervisor" was too busy to help while I waited 5 mins before he had to be called to check on me after I asked for assistance up front. As online shopping becomes more commonplace I think of these moments where it was the lack of customer service not the customers that caused the shift to get away from brick and mortar stores. read more

I've always gone to Dick's Sporting Goods and today was the worst experience. Prior to going to the Newport location i looked up a pair of shoes and the website stated they were available and in stock there. Upon my arrival, i walked into the shoe department and noticed the only employee there rushed off to the back stockroom after seeing me walk into the area. The young female never acknowledged me and i actually waited for her to come back to the sales floor for several minutes. When she finally did i asked about the certain brand of show and she stated rudely we don't have it and walked off to put some shoes on the shelf. I mentioned that it stated online that it was available and she yelled out rudely not at this store! She could have offered to order it for me or looked up info on what store nearby had it. It was pretty clear she did not care to provide even decent customer service. I left and called the Mgr Patrick who apologized for this employees behavior, but honestly i wont't be back and advise other to steer clear of Dick's Newport Location! Do not shop at Dicks for exercise equipment if you plan to have it delivered and assembled. Dick's outsources this service to an outfit called Select Express. I've never had a worse customer service experience in my life. I agreed, one week ahead of time, to a three-hour delivery window on a weekday morning, meaning I had to stay home from work. I checked the online order status the day before to confirm the day and time. The morning of my scheduled delivery, when an hour had passed and they hadn't yet showed or called, I checked online again. Still showing that I was one hour into the three hour window. An hour and a half into the three hour window, I received an email message saying they had rescheduled my delivery for the end of the day. I said they had done no such thing because I ha just checked and confirmed the originally scheduled time. They said they could not update their order status page until they first communicated with me (though it was apparently just fine to not show up without letting me know that. Guess what? They didn't show up at the end of the day either . . . until 10 minutes after the rescheduled three-hour window closed. Now they need an hour to assemble the equipment. They promised a three-hour window and delivered a 10-hour window. If that's the kind of service you want, Dicks is the place to shop. Buyer beware. read more

Went in for a Father's Day gift and literally the store was empty with shoppers. We walked by five different associates who didn't even speak to us. As we found the golf section the older gentleman who watched tv didn't even bother to offer assistance. We opened several different golf unberallas and talked about them as he stood 3 feet away completely ignoring us. Yeah he was actually an employee. So rude! Who wants to overpay for products in addition to be ignored by staff?! read more

It's a typical Dick's. It's feels a little smaller than some of the others but it has the essentials. They can be a little higher priced but deals can be found. Become a member and get $10 off after acquiring so many points. read more

Went to Dicks to buy some running shoes. I found a pair and went to check out and after waiting in line 15 minutes when the cashier scanned the box the price came up a lot higher than the display. So when I told her she just looked at me I said I'll go back and show some one. After searching for someone to help me he says aw they were in the wrong box. So back up to the front and went to the same cashier she then tells me I have to go to the back of a very long line. I said I just waited in a long line she said you have to get back in the line I said I need to talk to the manager. He comes up and checks me out apologies and does give me 10% off for the aggravation. It seems customer service these days is just non existent read more

Horrible customer service, horrible experience, unfriendly people. Worked in customer service my entire life and this is the hands down worst of all. Do not shop here, customer does not come first.
