The selection was great the service was great and the value was a little high but not terrible for pricing

I was highly surprised by this location, it serves a great deal of value. From clothing to shoes to any sports item you can think of. I enjoyed my visit because it has a modern taste of the later built Dick's around the city. I love how much space each section/department has, I didn't feel crowded and I felt I had time to throughly shop. Staff were solid, connect with you from time to time but continued to do their tasks. The shoe department staff were extremely attentive, I saw them touch base with everyone that entered their section. I want to visit other locations to see how they compare, because this location is high quality for sure. The product on the shelves are full. The parking situation is decent, typical parking lot. The shopping mall has other popular stores so you can park at Dicks and walk the entire strip. I'm gonna come back and see what else I experience. read more

Dicks has always been my store to go to on the east metro for any sporting stuff I need. It's located in Woodbury along side a bunch of other stores. The parking lot is huge and they need it, as this place can get busy. I like them for shopping in store or for pick up orders. Usually for those I'm in, then out pretty quickly. read more

Employees don't want to help, at the cashier she asked did you find everything. I said no, she acted like I said nothing. Stood in the bat section for a few minutes but employees just stood around on their phones.was never asked if I needed help. read more

The only reason this is getting one star is so that it can be posted........ I stopped in to try on running shoes on a Thursday morning at about 9:30am. A young man was assisting a customer so a walked around and looked at different shoes. There was a young girl standing at the register of the shoe department, engrossed on her phone. I stuck out 10 minutes with no help, no 'I'll be with you in a minute, no acknowledgment that I was even there! TERRIBLE customer service. Not worth the trip. read more

The staff member in shoe dept was great. 3 clerks told me the store could not honor their own online price- which was cheaper than the store price. Then they would mot honor the20% discount online because the shoes I bought are not included. They were not listed in the disclaimer. Store manager over rode it all and I was able to make my discounted purchase. read more

I just visited the Woodbury location and found a Bauer S25 12.5 on display and I asked to get the other one and I had at least 6 people walk away from me. They shrugged their shoulders and said sorry I don't know and left me there holding the skate! Not only were they beyond unprofessional and rude they refused to help me! I had to ask more than once for assistance and had one male staff member look at me and say "we are out of figure skates" and I said "okay, I don't use figure skates I use men's hockey skates" he then turned around and avoided helping me. He was very rude. All in all your cooperation just lost out on over $600 worth of sales because of the lack of professionalism and unorganized facility. Horrible service! Was ready too purchase a 3 and 5 wood , total cost $299 each , was told they could not unlock the clubs till purchased , asked why, I wanna know what it feels like without the lock weight on ? Sorry we can't do that till you purchase the club ?? Throw away $600 in clubs , and $89.99 for a new pair of spikes ? Decent selection of major brandname sports items for most any sport, but I saw nothing here that would inspire me to return. So many things, despite their major brand names, seemed to be cheaply made and made in China. No amazing prices, no unique hard to find items, just lots and lots of retail items I could find for less online or at least by comparison shopping. Customer service was virtually nonexistent. I saw a few apparel items in the Women's section that were interesting to me because they were made with soy or bamboo, and with labels that touted their environmental goodness, but no one should be seen wearing a neon bright tank that proclaims in enormous letters "Local is the new green" when the label says Made in Vietnam...unless of course they live in Vietnam. There was one overwhelmed guy in the shoe department on one side of the store, having trouble keeping up with the volume of customer assistance needed. Took way too long to get ahold of him to get the size I needed, and too long again to wait for him before inquiring about the availability of another size - something which he could've mentioned when he handed me the size he retrieved before disappearing to another part of the store. Inexplicably there is a separate shoe area on the other side of the store, also staffed with only one overwhelmed guy. Adjacent to this area is the Women's clothing area where there was no one staffed. The two fitting room doors are on opposite sides of a large central island in the Women's area which means when you find a fitting room locked, you have to walk all the way around to the other side to see if the other room is available. I'm sure this is as much a pain for staff there as it is for customers. Both fitting rooms were locked and unoccupied when I was there, and the other customers with stuff to try on just stood there, hoping to be seen I guess by staff. I pressed a button next to one of the fitting doors and nothing seemed to happen. So I walked all the way around to the other door and pressed its button and an obnoxiously loud and long chiming tune went off. I waited several minutes, strolled around the women's area looking for any staff that might be approaching to make eye contact with, but nothing happened. So I went back and pressed it again. Again, I hovered around the door, browsing while also looking out for staff that might be hurrying over. Nothing. The two other gals were still standing nearby, obviously waiting to try stuff on. But no one from the nearby Golf dept where I saw no customers to keep them busy came to assist. I rang a third time and this time the overwhelmed guy from the adjacent shoe dept let me in. One advantage to all this nonsense is that I was able to openly take in six items despite the posted 3 item limit. At checkout, the cashier didn't bother to fold the two dress tops I bought, choosing instead to take them off their hangers and dump them in the bag where they got wrinkled up. This review only pertains to the Fishing area. Best selection I've seen locally. Gander might have a larger stock, but much of it is house brand, and I think Dick's selection is wider. They've got a few brands I haven't seen elsewhere locally. Had a $10 off $50 purchase coupon, plus grabbed many sale items, so my $40 haul was worth $60 if not more. Not too shabby. read more

Dicks can be kind of hit or miss. I often find things that I want or need but they tend to be so over priced I am forced to buy them online. Last time I was there I was shopping for some swimming fins for my son. No matter where I looked for them online I was suprised to see that Dicks had the best price. Came in tonight because Nike pro shorts are on sale and my daughter cheers and wears them to practice. We had a couple colors in hand but since they weren't showing a price difference posted we verified with a manager, in that specific department. Manager confirmed that the price is lower and she would price match for the shorts we grabbed. Tried them on and then headed to the register. Another manager... named Tracy (the front end supervisor) walked over and looked at us rudely. She First told us that they weren't on sale, when we let her know another supervisor approved it. She pulled them up online and said oh well only one of the colors is approved. She didn't apologize, just turned around and walked in the back office. I think it's interesting that when the cashier Aymin called her back out to override she didn't come. Aymin apologized, he could tell that we were upset.. he was great. We had to wait for another supervisor to come and override. Seriously the price difference was around 5 dollars. Thank you Tracy for reminding me to shop online instead of in your store. read more

Customer service is decent. Selection is good. However the prices are pretty high for a lot of the items. Both my husband and I have basically all of our fishing supplies from Dicks., which we haven't used a ton but are decently happy with. Stopped by today to look at some workout clothing, man it's expensive! And I didn't once run into an employee asking if I was "finding everything ok", but did over hear a very personal chat between two employees gossiping who were not at all interested in what was going on around them. It was pretty busy as well! Pretty clean inside. Ended up ordering stuff on Amazon instead since everything was spendy and didn't feel like searching high and low for what I was looking for. read more

Gun department employees lie about their willingness to actually help you purchase a gun Unwilling to find the gun in their own distributers catalogue December 24 approximate time was 11am. I called Dicks Sporting Goods and inquired about a Marlin rifle The man in the gun department said that he was busy helping 7 other customers and did not have time to run all the way downstairs to see if they could order this gun. I said I really did not want to have to go to Gandar Mountain to purchase. He offered to write down all the information so right when I arrived to Dicks Sporting goods in Woodbury that he could just take that paper and run downstairs and see if it is in the distribution website. I said okay i am leaving right now. We show show up, we wait. There were two guys working the gun department. I go up to the older guy who was not helping someone and asked him if he could order the Marlin Leverrevolution XLR 308 rifle he argues that I am talking about ammunition. I continue to say it is a rifle, he continues to argue that it is ammo. I ask for the guy I just talked to on the phone, as the arguing man was not being helpful at all and would not listen to a word I was saying he continued to interrupt me and argue. The arguing guy goes into a speal that we need to search through this distributors book from October 2011, how he has not gotten a new book for this OCT 2012 and if the gun is not in this gigantic book he cannot order it. I said I just talked to the other guy on the phone who said he would have the gun information written down so right when I got here he could go downstairs and see about ordering it from the distribution website. Then both guys start arguing at me about how they told me they cannot order this gun unless it is in the distribution center... DICKS sporting goods told me they would have to go all the way downstairs to check on this gun BUT the book they kept pushing into our hands was right on their counter next to them. I do not think I should have to be arguing for your employees to do their job. They never once looked in it themselves only argue with me about how they do not carry the gun and that I need to look through this book. If they were not going to help me when I got to the store they should not have led me to believe they would help over the phone even though that was also lacking. Dicks sporting goods has lost this gun sale and any future sales from me and my family. These two men were lazy and extremely unhelpful, they could not even pick up the book and look for the gun themselves, nor get on the so called computer downstairs they claimed they had to do to find this gun. All they wanted to do was argue. This was completely unacceptable. There was 5 of us trying to deal with them, and we all left very unhappy and unsatisfied. There is no way to fix this, we brought our father as a surprise to pick out the gun I described to the employees over the phone, Marlin 308 Leverrevolution XLR rifle, and to have my father be met with hostility and the unwillingness to help him order this rifle as they had led me on to believe they would at least try and put effort into this, its unacceptable and embarrassing. We went to Gandar Mountain and will continue to go their over Dicks. Your employees really lived up to the company name. I am sorry but they might want to hire people who actually want to sell products. read more

We came in here knowing exactly what we wanted. I couldn't help but marvel at the variety of socks. I'm a sock whore. We managed to get our Livestrong Elliptical and get outta there in less than 1/2 an hour on the Saturday before Christmas. To me, this is grand! read more

I was purchasing some clothing for my daughter for Christmas and while at the register I was told that I was not able to use a coupon that I had from a fundraising book that we had purchased. I did not want to make a big deal of it since my daughter was with me, but felt that it could have been handled much better. I later called and spoke to the store manager who apologized and said that he would gladly put a twenty dollar gift card in the mail that day-since that was the value of the coupon that I was not able to use. Needless to say-the gift card never came. Don't say you are doing something if you don't intend to follow through. You lost a customer. read more

Nice spot, clean friendly, but they don't have fitted hats. Is that wierd? I feel like sportsman wear fitted baseball caps, I know plenty that do, while they golf, play baseball, etc. also the gal that checked me out forgot to tAke the security thing off the hat I bought, because she was ignoring me and talking loudly to someone across the store. read more

This location of Dicks Sporting Goods is awesome, I love how massive it is and all of the products they sell..but, the service is the worst I have ever experienced in any retail setting. I couldn't find anyone who worked there and once I finally ran into someone they were very rude and uninvolved. I don't think the woman even looked up from what she was doing once to answer my simple question. On my way out of of my very unsuccessful shopping experience, I finally spotted the employees, having a social hour in a group just chatting and laughing with each other. Terrible terrible service. Dicks sporting goods - Woodbury, MN - they are very very understaffed, through out the store, especially shoe dept - one person for this dept. i have been in numerous time looking at shoes - the average amount of people each time i have been in is over 20 people all wanting that person's attention. Customer Service starts with your employees -- if they are happy, they make the customer shopping happy. the employee was doing the best they could, and running their tail off. I have also noticed managers telling said employee to work faster, get to more people -- my advice to the managers is pitch in and help the dept or hire more people for the dept. One person can not do all that you expect them to. As a customer, i want individualized assistance, to help me and answer my questions, you can't get that with only one person trying to service over 20 people at a time, and there is never a lull in customers. I get better customer service at Sports Authority. What is up Dick's. you are not saving money by doing this, you are turning customers away from you by doing this. read more

Not very good quality sporting equipment, coupons sent out can not be used on about 95% of the product they sell. They also do not have any sales reps in baseball or hockey departments that know the products or sport they are selling. read more

I have never been more impressed with a store than I am with Dick's in Woodbury. Their associate, Reinaldo, just helped my severely disabled mother who is in a wheelchair find a pair of tennis shoes and the compassion and humanity that he showed was outstanding. My mom has many deficits and most people look away, but Reinaldo jumped in to help, suggested the perfect shoes, came up with a solution for her when she said she couldn't easily tie her shoes on her own by suggesting the elastic laces, made her feel special as a human being, made the experience fun by joking around and making it a fun experience, following through our whole visit and impressing me on every level of humanity. He helped her try the shoes on by helping her stand when requested, he did not rush and spent as much time needed, I truly hope he gets promoted to management, given a huge bonus and raise, and recognized for outstanding customer service. If this is how he treats one customer, imagine how he treats everyone. In addition, the other associates including Ira came over to help as needed and the atmosphere was fantastic. What an outstanding place. Thank you for making my mom feel like a human being when so many treat her otherwise!!!!!!!! Well done. read more
