I've been here before to take my little cousin on the ferris wheel a year or so ago. They have so much sportswear and stuff to check out. I was looking online to see if they carry converse, as I was looking for a pair of regular black chucks. When I entered the store there were tons of staff all over which is nice to see these days. I browsed the men's section first since the shoes are pretty much the same, I couldn't find them at first so I went across the store over to the women's and couldn't find converse in women's either. I did notice the women's shoes wasn't as busy as the men's. I browsed around a bit (no one greeted me or anything in men's or women's). I did finally find them under a table display and they only had platforms for women's so I went back over to men's to take another look. I did find them and waited for a salesman to assist me. A man walked up (after me) and the shoe he wanted was next to stock room so he was helped right away. I waited and asked for help.. I was told by a rep that he had to go check on some other customers, I kept waiting and being ignored to the point I witnessed reps asking people still looking around if they needed help and finally someone came up to help me, I asked for a 7 (as I'm a 8 1/2, 9 in women's), he came back and told me the smallest size they have is an 8 which is too big. He asked who I was shopping for, I said myself and he asked me what size I wear and I said about a 9 in women's and he said "well this is men's" as if I was blind. I came here over the weekend and bought waterproof hunting/hiking boots, a soccer ball, alpaca socks, winter boots for my wife, and some Matchbox cars. This is the greatness of Scheels. They have an excellent variety of active/outdoor stuff spanning hunting and fishing equipment as well as clothes and other accessories - and within that they have a lot of brand variety, too. Their stores are also mammoth with a lot of inventory. We found everything we need. We went on a Sunday afternoon and is was packed - super busy with families getting all sorts of stuff as well as hunters loading up for the duck/pheasant/deer season. It made it hard to get help in a couple of the departments, but the help we did get was excellent - the staff were not harried and frazzled. read more

Ferris Wheel for the kids, laser target game, racing arcade games, photo displays, aquarium, synthetic hockey ice demo, golf demo, baseball demo, even home decor this store has IT ALL! I mean, it even has a cafe with hot food AND coffee plus a candy shop too! Staff was SUPER kind in all areas of the store. The only bummer was I bought 3 pairs of shorts for my daughter only to find them 1/2 price online at a different store - I didn't realize they price matched until I got home. Also, we got a kids meal and they didn't tell us ice cream was included - I noticed it on the menu after we ate but we didn't have time to get it. This is definitely a "must see" location! read more

I've been to Scheels many times.... Countless. I was hooked the first time I walked into the place. My eyes literally opened wide and I could hear by debit card yelling "no, you don't need to buy everything you like." Haha! Scheels is a store that just offers it all-- clothes for everyone, shoes, sports equipment, home decor, hunting, pet supplies, and workout equipment, and much more!. Don't worry it doesn't just stop there! There's an aquarium, Ferris wheel (in the middle of the store), and candy store. Talk about a store that offers everything you want, PLUS some!!! The quality of clothing they offer is fantastic. A little pricey, but I appreciate how they offer price match, and suggest pay attention and check. There always seems to be a ton of staff working and have always been helpful when I need their assistance. Scheels is bright, clean, and it's like Christmas morning in the place. Just so much to look at. My suggestion make sure you have enough time to browse this store. I allow myself a minimum of 2 hours when I come as I'm a looker, but just depends on the type of shopper you are. I also like how it's attacked to the Eden Prairie mall.... This place is crazy good. I find myself having thousands of options to select from when shopping here. I needed two items on a Saturday. One staff member took me upstairs and halfway through the crazy crowded store to find me what I needed. The cashiers and stockers are very helpful and friendly, if I ask a question they answer in the most helpful way possible. The products are very well made and last a long time, there is wide range of items to pick from whether you came for fishing items or hunting or even sports they have it. The only thing that makes me not give Scheels 5 stars is price, if you came to scheels for value you'll definitely get it but it comes at a high price. What a place! So many options of things to get yourself outdoors! Good selection of pet supplies in addition to golf, hunting, candy, clothing and more. Lots of guns and archery options too. A small restaurant and a candy store too. We didn't ride the Ferris wheel, but it's looks fun and would try it the next time. Overall has a good selection of products for sports equipment, and staff are helpful when you need them, my biggest issue was the variety of hockey skates compared to the figure skates, I know they sell lots of sports equipment, but figure skating is still technically a sport! Overall its an good store, but you lost me with the lack of figure skating stuff, theres an entire wall of hockey skates but only like six figure skates. Would love this store but only if they added more figure skating related equipment so the figure skating section doesn't only contain six skates. read more

This review is specifically about the bike department but includes some other departments as well. There's tons of free parking, the entrance is accessible, and there are a few doors you can enter the store from the parking lot. One specific entry is to the bike shop so you don't have to roll your bike through the store, I appreciated that. On our first visit, we walked around the store to see what Scheels had to offer. I've only ever been to the one in Iowa City, so it was fun to relive some of my Iowa memories. There's always an employee around and they're most often helpful -- usually when you ask where something is, they know. The employees are trained in their sections and don't have much (or any) training in the other sections. For example, if you ask someone in the fishing department about camping, they probably will refer you to someone else for better help. I just bought a bike from FB marketplace for $100 and the gears are a little sticky, so I was in the market for some service. Having gone to other local spots to get quotes, I decided to ask what the wait time was for service at Scheels. They said usually about 48 hours. This was shocking to me because the other place I checked said they had zero availability for an entire month out. I brought my bike in and they estimated $75, took my number, and said they'd text me when it was ready. I got a text the next day to pick up my bike and was overjoyed. My bike works great now and I feel like I was treated fairly. I'm so happy with the service. I also bought a helmet that I'd seen before and found a lower price online. I asked if they'd price match and they did! I couldn't be happier with my experience at the bike service counter at Scheels. read more

Let's get down to it. I think this place is the Chick Fil-A of sporting good sports. It is open on Sunday, but you will find you find an abundance of young people who seem to sport (pun intended) a good work ethic and customer service experience... as well as family friendly / soft Christian tunes on the loudspeaker. Prices are hit and miss on if they are 'the best' - and in some corners of the store I didn't get 5G to be able to price compare on my phone. If you aren't pinching pennies and need a 'one stop shop' for all your sporting good needs - you should be happy, ...and perhaps slightly overwhelmed at the two floor selection within Scheels. First time here and definitely not the last. I was in Eden Prairie anyway for Yelp event. I was at Fargo ND Scheels and the Ferris wheel line was long. There was no line here. A $1 token gets you 2 cycles around. You need to keep hands and feet inside and no rocking. You got a good view of the store. I was on a mission to try on and buy these NDSU colored Hey Dude shoes. The helpful sales guy Caleb looked on this huge website screen. The shoes don't come in my women's size 7. I was walked over to youth/boys shoes and the Boys size 6 fit my feet perfectly with socks. Caleb works on commission and he recorded my sale. The women working upstairs in home decor didn't even say hi. The decor was mass produced imported stuff anyway. Super excited to represent NDSU Bison with my Bison spirit wear. My son goes to NDSU, can you tell? No sales tax on clothes and shoes here. read more

This is an impressive sporting goods store. Two floors of merchandise that would keep any sportsman/ athlete happy to wander the aisles. If you bring the kids along, there's a Ferris Wheel in the middle of the store. Huge aquarium and taxidermy on display. Comparisons to Cabelas will be inevitable. Husband and son focused on getting son some hunting supplies. Some items were pricey, but at least, were available here while they weren't at 2 different Cabelas stores. To give you an idea of the scope of this store, they moved into the spot that was occupied by Sears at Eden Prairie Center, but they expanded the size by approximately double. This company used to operate a smaller store elsewhere in EPC, just one of many apparel stores inside the mall that I'd walk by without noticing. Their identity is no longer anywhere near so modest! In the decades since I've been visiting American department stores, this type of store seems to have become, in general, less diverse. They used to devote a lot less space to clothing and have things like hardware departments, toy departments, and electronics departments. They were, you know, department-y! I think the Scheels people recognize that and decided to answer that shift with a department store that has an excitingly wide array of offerings. There's still a lot of apparel, and it seems to be largely of the casual variety as well as the outdoor-activity variety. But there is also a toys & games department, home goods department, a big guns & hunting section, a whole separate archery section, sections for camping gear and team sports equipment, a candy store, a cafe, and a large department with bikes and scooters, including a significant assortment of little bikes for kids. And multiple shoe departments. I lost count of how many parts of the store seemed like they were shoe departments. Oh, and a big honkin' ferris wheel ride. There are other things too. They have worked very hard to entice you to come in and look around. Nothing I saw was particularly inexpensive, but there were many familiar brands, ones which I recognize as never-particularly-cheap. I spent about $100 on two pairs of shorts, a belt, and a candle. I had some difficulty finding prices on some things. Other issues to point out include the fact that there isn't an escalator in there to get you between their two floors; there are stairs and elevators. But I'll definitely be back to look around, try some stuff, get some stuff, and be around stuff. I like stuff. Stuff is my favorite! read more

Once I realized my bag was not with me, I found Leah who was able to get ahold of security and have them track me back on the cameras to find when and where I lost my bag. They have tons of items to look at, at first I just thought it was another outdoorsy store..until I went! Thankfully they have a dog section and a coffee shop to occupy myself while my boyfriend shops for fishing things! The staff is friendly, the parking lot is huge and the actual store is pretty massive! They also have fun activists scattered throughout the store like a carousel and bowling! I have visited the store several times, and love loading up on fishing supplies. The one area I think is very lacking with such a huge variety of shoes would be more customer service. My high school son has dragged me to the store multiple times. I must say it is humongous and has every sporting good you could ever need. Guns, tents, binoculars, fishing gear, bikes, snowboards, shoes, shirts and sweatshirts. You can ride the Ferris wheel if you would like. You can watch fish in a giant aquarium, the day we were there there was a lady in scuba gear cleaning the sides of the aquarium. I placed an order on May 11th from the Eden prairie store and i live about a little over an hour away from the store, after 10 days the product still had not arrived, i called and they said sorry its on the way if you don't want it you can return it when it gets there, now 12 days later still no package and i call again and they tell me we have intercepted the package and had it returned to the store because you said you wanted to return it. i said i would think about returning it if i didn't need it anymore. they did nothing to remedy the issue and basically the lady said it was my fault because i complained it was late and said i would think about returning because it was so late. Very excited that Scheels decided to open up a store in Eden Prairie. I grew up in Nebraska and we had always had a Scheels and frequented the store for any outdoors needs. This store is no different - complete with two massive levels and basically anything outdoors-related that you can think of. My boyfriend was happily surprised at their huge selection of fishing gear (both equipment and apparel). If you are into cycling, there is a large Trek setup on the first floor for all your cycling needs. Similar to Cabela's, there is a large display of outdoor animals on the second floor as well as a fish tank on the first floor. In the center of the store, there is a ferris wheel that the kids will love. We will definitely be returning to shop in the future. COVID notes: All store employees were wearing masks and staircases were designated for one way only to minimize close contact. Purchased some fantastic Kuhl trek pants. The young woman at the fitting room was so helpful! Went traveling, and a small hole from the waist-string happened. Had to continue wearing however, as I was away. Returned them a week later (had receipt and tags still)--store helped me easily and fast. I went to the Eden Prairie location. Absolutely huge and crowded! Amazing salt water fish display and I can only imagine what it's like when the Ferris wheel is in working order. Shoes are in the back which I don't really understand. The crew were really working hard. Bringing out boxes of shoes to customers. You need to speak up if you want something otherwise you get glazed over. I felt rushed. No return policy on shoes which is crazy cool and mind blowing!! Wow! This place is huge. It's part of the Eden Prairie Center, which I had never been to before. Very brightly lit, wide walking area, so much stuff here for camping, fishing, hunting, anything outdoors. Huge selection of Patagonia and other clothing. I could spend the whole day here. The prices were reasonable too. I needed to get side walls for my Clam Quickset shelter, and Scheels was selling 2 for $29, compared to $100+ at Target and Amazon. I once was an avid Cabela's and Fleet Farm customer for hunting and fishing. Those stores combined with Gander Mt. we're my go to stores. Scheel's absolutely out performs them both in every way possible for hunting/fishing. If you shop anywhere else (except for maybe Reed's in Walker) you are missing out!! I've only had one bad experience in the gun department (way under staffed), which led to a Fleet Farm deer rifle purchase. It's MN...you need to staff your gun department with several sales staff September-November. read more

The few short hours that I spent at Scheels in Eden Prairie were truly a delight, although when I left the store I couldn't break the feeling that I had 'found a hair in my food'. The Scheels off of Flying Cloud Drive is brand spankin' new and it absolutely shows. With a beautifully modeled storefront and an elegantly designed interior, it was clear to me that serious thought and effort had gone into the construction of this store. When one thinks of a Scheels, visions of Dick's Sporting Goods or Sports Authority may come to mind; a no-frills athletic store where you could find your new baseball bat, running shoes, or what have you. Scheels in Eden Prairie on the other hand should disrupt all preconceived notions that you've had about sporting goods stores. From the moment you enter the store and find yourself face to face with 'Finding Nemo' characters swimming through the massive overarching aquarium to the hours you may spend trying out new clubs in the golfing simulator, this Scheels is not only a store- it's an experience. They have two sprawling floors complete with everything your heart could desire: arcade machines, athletic simulators, an animatronic Herb Brooks delivering his famous halftime speech in full, a coffee shop, a toy store, and even a giant (relatively speaking) Ferris wheel to cap it all off. Even if you weren't planning on buying anything, spending a little while at this decadent suburban wonder should be on your to-do list. Amidst all of my amazement, I couldn't help but feel as though something were wrong- something that beckoned fault in my perception of grandeur and magnificence. The staff were extremely helpful (I can't speak highly enough of the associates in the men's fashion department), the products were fairly priced, the shoppers were kind and respectful... What was it that was out of place? The music. For whatever reason, whoever is in charge of the playlist at Scheels decided that it would be a good idea to follow God-fearin', easy talkin' country with Carly Rae Jepsen, only to make the transition to Evanescence and then "Happy" by Pharrell Williams- my point being that their music mix is horribly all over the place. When I go to shop I'm not hoping that the store will be playing my favorite tracks, however at the very least I expect some consistency. After spending some time at the store, the rambunctious nature of the music became so difficult to deal with that my girlfriend and I decided we'd rather shop elsewhere. Silence would be an improvement. It's almost a shame- after Scheels goes through all the trouble and expense to create a truly amazing store (I stand by my prior comments), they taint the final product by blaring a horrific mix of genres through the entire establishment. I know I may sound rash and that you may consider music to be a negligible factor in determining where you shop, but the song choices were so appalling that I would recommend going to Dick's to satisfy your athletic needs- at least until a serious change is made. read more
