CABELA'S employees , the ones I have dealt with have been AWESOME! in the past approximately 3 years to now my son-in-law and I have spent over 9k on fishing and firearms sporting goods. I also like some of the clothes sold here because they fit and are for adults ( males ) that are 3x....... large but not heavy. I have purchased 2 graphs, trolling motor, installation ( supervised by Pat ) one hell of a nice guy and couldn't be more helpful on numerous occasions. Rerigged our boat and I couldn't be more satisfied with the installations. We used sales and saved money ! Still spent 9k. Purchased a firearm, performance special order and sold traded a firearm at this store. Hanna, was Exceptional in helping me purchase the firearm I wanted. From ordering, out of state to making sure the paperwork was correct and I was up to speed on the process! Gary helped me on the day of pickup for my firearm. Exceptional also. Employees like these, service, quality products and what makes a sporting goods store awesome like this store is why this store will have my business and I could go anywhere in the metro area to find what I want. I was just at this store and I would like to make a comment. Right off the bat, this location needs work. Everything I was looking on the app for was either "in the back" or "out of stock" according to the employees when the app clearly states that my items are in stock. I spoke with James Karpe the manager and he was extremely unhelpful, rude and stuck up to me. On top of that I saw him yelling at a few of his employees who worked in the clothing area about "not seeing the store the way he sees it". I'll tell you what, I don't care for that kind of junk management. That's ridiculous behavior because the employees that I did speak to were nice to me and they don't deserve that kind of emotional abuse. Speaking of which why couldn't I find any employees working here? I think it's probably because James Karpe fired them all or they had enough of him and quit. It's gonna be a while before I go to this store again. I'll go to Scheels or Dicks instead anyday because this place is not worth your time or money. Now I usually don't post reviews but I feel like I have to this time. The thing you have to know about me is that Customer Service is very important to me. I went to this location to buy a rain jacket for my upcoming spring fishing trip to Lake of the Woods and I had the best customer service experience in quite a long time. The young buck working in the clothing section named Stew was so helpful, kind, and hardworking. I needed a 2xl size than the xl size that was on the store floor and Stew checked his handy dandy little gadget and once he found out the size was in the back he went and got it for me. After he got back and I tried it on, I then asked him if he had the matching pants in stock also and he went and got me those as well! What great customer service! Whatever they are paying Stew it is not enough. Most kids today at other stores ive been too are just lazy and they sigh at me whenever I ask them a question like its the end of the world for them. After I was done Stew asked me if I had any other questions/needs and I told him no but I'll be sure to find him next time I come to visit this great store. We went today to experience a visit/photo with Santa. We've done this in the past (at a different location) but it's been a couple of years. Santa was awesome and the line moved along pretty quickly. Reservations are highly recommended. I got to take some pics of my son with Santa and they took a fancy one that we got to take home. Son said "I've been waiting for this day forever". Last name Vang is a very common last name like Smith, Johnson and Williams. I'm Mr. Vang, on Wednesday August 27, 2025 I got denied services from Cabelas in Woodbury store because my last name Vang. I had has complete the ATF application but manager don refuse to submitted my application over to ATF and then he deny my purchase. I am NRA and permit to carry firerarms instructor I have a clean background, the only thing Manager Don was judging my last name. The following day I went to a different gunshop their wasn't any problem with my last name and I got aproved last then 15 minutes and paid for the gun. On my opion I believe Cabelas in Woodbury, MN hired a racist manager on gun department. I will email to ATF regarding this issue. read more

World's Foremost Outfitter, what a joke. If you want to purchase gear from a retailer that stands behind their products, look someplace else. I purchased a Sig Sauer rangefinder a little over a month before hunting opener and a month and a half into hunting I had issues with the product. Cabela's answer. Tough nut, you had it longer than 90-days (about 5 days out) so Cabela's refused to stand behind and replace the product. I would give then 0 Stars if I could. I guess standing behind their product went away when Bass Pro purchased Cabela's. There is no value in a product with issues. read more

If I can give them a 0 star I will!!! I bought a boat and they wanted my financing in house. 1st time going in and no help, second time went in and someone spoke to me. I dressed and looked homeless because I wear a suit and tie everyday for work and wanted to be comfortable. The people working there lack communication! I was forced to reach out to them several times to see the status of my boat. However, no return calls, no emails back and seem like they disappeared from the face of the earth. The finance department didn't even submit anything until I told them that I will go to my own bank, in which I did and got an approval. They promised me to install my electronics at no cost but said if I went to my own bank they wouldn't. That's not all but I had a trade and they wanted it there asap. I brought it in to them on April 22nd, 2025 and today is May 9th, 2025(almost 1 month) and opener is this weekend in which I ask them to get it done before opener. Over promised and under delivered. I emailed the general manager of the store today. We will wait to see what they say. It's the worst buying experience I have ever had. I am in sales as well and trying to give them my money. I understand that they are a big corporation and know that I am just a number to them. However, I should not be treated this way. I have been shopping at cabelas and bass pro shop since I was 16 and now I am 40. It's disappointing and after this I will not ever step a foot into another Cabela's store or a bass pro shop. Huge store! We actually went about a month ago to take my little cousin to see/take pictures with Santa. It was my first going to a Cabela's so it was cool to walk around and see what they had to offer. They did have a little aquarium in the back which was cool. I did shop a little and found deals on a few things around the store. I didn't really see a lot staff around besides the checkout lines. The lines were a bit long (I'm guessing from the event bringing in extra ppl) but they went pretty fast. I'm sure we'll be back next year to do photos again! read more

Nice store that is fun to explore with kids. Lots to see and the prices are good. My kids like to go to see the wildlife taxidermy displays and the fish below the waterfall. I went in to speak to the gunsmith on two different occasions, The first time I only had five people in front of me and waited for an hour and a half and they only helped three people. I came back last week and it was the identical situation. I ended up going to Reeds and when I walked in the gunsmith asked if I needed help. Reeds was happy to take my $1,200 dollars. Employee trying to intimidate me. Today I went in Cabelas looking for a new spinning rod for my Lews reel that I purchased from Cabelas. I found a pole I liked and I also liked the price of it. It had a price tag of $14.99 come to find out at the register the pole was worth $150. They said they couldn't do the transaction so I went back to look at other poles just for a dickhead employee to tell me that they will be watching me on the cameras until I leave the store. Just because they had the wrong tag on something? I tried to talk to the guy but he quickly walked away. I did not swap price tags...they can check the cameras and see for themselves that they made a mistake. read more

I had an awful experience at the Cabela's in Woodbury and from other reviews seems like very common for this location. 1.we set our appointment to see the Easter bunny in which once we took our photo with the bunny our dogs face was blocked off in the photos. You would think guys who had been taking these photos all day would let us know his face would get blocked off. So we asked the workers if we can hop back in line and retake it or if there is anyway they can adjust the photo and we got told no for both and that if we wanted to redo photos we had to set another reservation (which there was none) and we drove 40 minutes out to this Cabela's because it was the only one that had reservations. 2. While we waited for our photos a guy walked by with poles and hit my dog in the nose with them and it may have been a accident but to not apologize or anything and just kinda of looked back is rude on so many levels. I do believe his name was grant and he was wearing a vest. 3. When we first walked in I saw a chair with a tag of 4.97 on it and we went and took our photos and I came back and the chair was still there. So I had taken a seat and a screw fell out and I just thought maybe because it's broken it's on sale. So I spoke to an associate who couldn't really give me an answer so eventually a manager came on over. While we waited another guy came over and touched an arm of a chair and that fell off and he sat in another and a screw fell off of that one too. The manager eventually came over and not a single apology was given. I've worked in retail for years and we have always either bite the bullet because we messed up or find a compromise, but that wasn't the case guy came over and bluntly told me no we aren't doing that price. When I asked why not told me that mn is a price aware state and that they aren't going to honor that price, but once again no apology was given. It's fine that I didn't get that price but to be a dick to us for it is not okay. Overall was a horrible experience all the way through! read more

I don't hate this location at all. The employees are friendly and it looks and feels like a normal Cabela's as expected. But the firearm section is terribly managed. For one there is never enough employees behind the counter even on the weekends. I wouldn't buy a firearm here simply for the fact who knows how long it would take to get someone to assist. The ammo section is terrible because all the price tags are non existent, don't match the item and are all over the place. It's impossible to know the price they're selling unless you waive an employee down. I had a manager tell me they were working on getting this organized but I've yet to see it happen. To top it off their prices for ammo are higher so you're better off going somewhere else and support a small business. read more

Staff at the customer service desk are in dire need training in customer service, listening & professionalism. Visited Woodbury Cabela's earlier today. I bought a LS Henley advertised on the sign to be $15.99. Rang up as $18.99. Went back to the display to verify. The size I bought was advertised as $15.99. My wife needed to verify pricing on sandals, so we both went to Customer Service. Of the two workers there, the man was helping a customer while the female worker was just standing there next to him. She neither greeted us nor asked if she could help. So my wife just went up to her and asked for a price check. All she got in return was a short answer. No effort to engage at all. I then stated my situation, indicating I likely got overcharged as the display read the shirts in the size I bought were $15.99 and that extended sizes, starting at 3X were $18.99. She simply looked at the tag and said, "This is an extended size and it is $18.99". I acknowledged my shirt, as a 2X, was an extended size, but reiterated the sign read it should be $15.99 as the higher price started at 3X. She repeated that my shirt was an extended size so it costs more. I then repeated that the sign read the higher price started at 3X, and that the sign likely would cause confusion among customers. She replied that she would "let them know", meaning whom ever handled the displays. During the entire exchange there was no apology for the confusion, no offer to adjust the sale since the sign was misleading, and she acted very dismissive and put out. As a sales and customer service manager, had one of my employees treated a customer in this manner, there would have been a discussion immediately after the encounter. This representative exhibited no active listening, showed no customer empathy, and offered no apology for the confusion. Even a simple "I understand how the sign could create this type of confusion" would have helped the situation. And, even though I did not ask for an adjustment, an offer to refund the $3.00 would have helped the situation and would not have bankrupted Cabela's. Sadly, her behavior soured the positive experienced I had with one of the floor associates earlier, who offered good customer service. I hope Cabela's takes corrective measures relative to the Customer Service Desk. read more

Was very helpful in showing me around the bows. Took time adjusting a bow down to a low weight so I could draw it, then showed me a thing or two on shooting it in their indoor range. Store inventory is in complete disarray. Went here on a Tuesday to grab something that online said was in stock, got there and it wasn't on the shelves. Asked a worker to see if it could be in the back, but worker was unwilling to check citing "unopened pallets and lack of workers." They had a giant cart on the floor in their tackle department filled with what appeared to be new product that needed to be placed on the shelves. Worker told me to come back the next day and what I was looking for would likely be stocked on the shelves. Came back the following Friday. Shelves were all still in disarray and they still had the same cart full of shit sitting on the same spot on the floor that workers did not appear to even bother stocking onto shelves. Online said the item I was looking for was still in stock at this store. Got there and again it was not on the shelves. Asked a worker again to check the back, and worker was AGAIN unwilling to check citing "lots of pallets and lack of workers." This store has regressed into a complete shithole in the last year. Whoever is running this location needs to be fired immediately and replaced with someone who knows what the fuck they're doing. read more

Firearm staff don't acknowledge you or want to make a sale to you. This happened twice and just reminds me of the bad service those people have. Easy money for a few minutes of interaction but looks like they aren't interested. Younger guy with long beard doesn't even look at you. Customer just walks right up and gets service right away. Management would be wise to train their staff to interact better with customers because it seems like a common issue with other people who stop by this store too. We always have a good time just walking around the place. We usually go there to sell or trade guns because they always give us an excellent price compared to other places. It alwAys smells like candied pecans and with all the animals and fun things to look at it's something to experience! They can be pricey or I would've given them another star. Cabela's is a great concept and a museum of natural history. They carry a wide variety of things to buy and interesting things for outdoors people. They can be very frustrating with returns, back orders or anything that requires a customer service help because their IT and computers are on different systems and one store does not know what the on line or other stores carry. They will not search for an item not in store very hard. They will not ship an item you want to buy from one store to another for your pick up. I have had items ordered that were purchased from an advertisement in one state that were not in another state and after a week I was called and told my order would be cancelled because the item was probably never really there to begin with. The left hand really does not know what the right hand is doing. They can't project when stock items even like clothing will be back in stock. Basically their issues are IT issues. It's a great place to window shop and if you see what you want buy it on the spot. It's a poor place to go for a targeted item to buy knowing you will leave the store having made a purchase. That's a problem for a destination retail store. read more

At check out today line was extremely long; only 2 cashiers. I was like the 10th person in line. After I finally have only one person in front of me. 20 min He asked the customer if she wanted a club card. She said yes so he closes the line and tells everyone they have to go to another line. I get in the 2nd line another 10-15 min while waiting in that line get almost to register one person in front. That lady wants a club card. He now closes this line. The original guy comes back and says oh are you still here at this point I was extremely frustrated and guy said that is the way it is and I get extra bonus for this so line closes. He was all smug about it too! After I get to my car the guy did not even give me the receipt for the over priced rod I bought. Customer service from cashiers to managers suck. Apparently bonuses are what matters here and I am talked down by the smug cashier I will not be shopping here again....... read more

Probably one of the worst places for gun purchases. I have purchased firearms in multiple twin cities locations and for whatever reason the time it takes to actually make a purchase is more than double any other place. On top of that, they now do not allow trigger guards to be removed to get a feel for the action prior to purchase which is very disappointing and unheard of any place else I have been. Would not recommend. Plenty of other quality gun shops in town with more knowledgeable staff and much better purchase experience. read more

A smaller Cabela's , if feels like they try to jam a bunch of departments into a limited space. Pros: love the trophies display , since it's still new, their stocks are all on hands, unlike other stores with empty shelves . Friendly staffs. Con: price is the same , mid range to high . Layout : just one floor, tight aisle , same for the parking . Conclusion : it's a Cabela's , and stop in if you're in the area or headed that way, otherwise not that amazing . read more

I've called five times to check on an order shipped to store. The phone is never answered. Never! The automated answering machine picks up, but no one answers after the department number is selected. If you go to this store to purchase or pick up a firearm be prepared to wait at least 1 hour to 90 minutes. They are always extremely under staffed. The employees try to keep up but it is a losing battle for them! I feel bad for them, but it is still always a major waste of time while you're there. You have to take a number and wait your turn which is fair, but then you're chained the department until your number is called. It is a beautiful store and the staff are extremely helpful.....there is just not enough of them. I saw numerous "numbers" left on the floor....I figure each one is a potential profit loss of around $250. Sad to see. Hope they get it together or I'm not coming back....I guess $1000.00 in purchases over the last few days isn't enough to get great service....truly a disappointing experience!!! read more

Night and Day compared to Owatanna. This is a much smaller store. There were just no employees here. Not few, almost non-existent. I finally decided to buy that dehydrator I wanted - it was $70 off. However, I was not prepared for the logistical dance that would entail. The thing weighs 80lbs and is huge - a two man job. Finding an employee to assist was a chore. Wheedling the proper cart out of them even more so. The fragmented process at the register was gruesomely slow. 1 1/2 hours and I now have my dehydrator. How dry I am. read more
