After the nearby Party City closed down, I quickly turned to Yelp to find an an alternative location to purchase balloons for my daughter's birthday. I was able to buy a "bouquet" of about 10 latex balloons and, plus a large unicorn balloon, and a large number nine balloon, with the total coming out to about $50 (helium is expensive!!). The lady who helped me at the counter, was super patient and helpful, even advising me to upgrade to the longer lasting helium since I wouldn't need the balloons till the next day. In a valentines day they were the best option because most of the other stores ran out of helium and they charge so much for a balloon. Diddams prices were decent and they helped me immediately with my order although they we're busy the were able to get me out there within 10 min. Loved the service. It's been years since I've been in the store just because I don't live in Mountain View anymore. But before I moved they had already taken over the store that was next to it and expanded their Halloween section. So coming here I already knew how big it was but the full size of it just kind of shocked me again lol. We were greeted as soon as we walked in, they have a huge selection of balloons to the left and they will even blow them up for you. As soon as you walk in and you look slightly to the left I think that's where they have like the seasonal items because they had a huge Valentine's Day display there, behind it they have a huge and I mean absolutely humongous candy selection which is amazing because they have a lot of like nostalgic candy that I haven't seen in years. They tend to organize the store based off of whatever event you're looking for so pretty much anything you need is going to be in one spot. We needed some retro items for our daughter for spirit week this week so since we were going to be in Mountain View we decided to come here and we found a cute poodle skirt and pink glasses, and white poodle socks. I'm not sure who had more fun in here, me or my kids to be honest. They apparently also sell bath bombs here! This kind of shocked me but it was really cute because they were shaped like donuts and they had like rainbow sprinkles on top. I also needed to make some Valentine's Day treat bags so I was able to find some pencils and little pads of paper and erasers here which was perfect! I really enjoyed coming here because they had exactly, and I mean exactly what I was looking for, and I don't feel like I spent too much based on what I was getting. And also it was kind of hard to find retro clothing for my kid anywhere else so just the fact that they even had it in stock and right there for me to just take home, I would've paid anything for it haha Overall this location has ample parking, a huge Halloween section, plenty of party decorations, friendly staff and fun nostalgic candy to bring the kid out of you. With impossibly short notice, Diddams Party and Toy was able to make a kid's dream come true by delivering numerous mylar balloons to the hospital. Angelica, the woman we worked with from the store, was incredibly patient, kind, and professional. She went above and beyond in helping to coordinate the order and ensure it was delivered in an incredibly timely fashion, that exact same day. I was in a huge hurry tonight and when I came in...it's quite a large spot so was a bit lost at first...they noticed and pointed me right toward the costume section at a side part of the store. There another helpful and attentive team member (in a cool costume btw!) was in the section and asked exactly what I needed and how she could help. There's a wide range of positive qualities of Diddams and the products they provide but I cannot get over the TERRIBLE customer service of their banner/t-shirt department by their new point of contact Julissa. I've worked with Tomer in the past and had absolutely no problems with their services and communication. He always did an amazing job with both design layout and ensured a smooth, error-free experience. Tomer's replacement, Julissa, is the complete opposite and downright dreadful to work with. Where in the stockroom did they find her? OMG! She's rude, irresponsible, incompetent, and a poor addition to the once amazing banner team. I'm an event planner by trade and have had a couple projects previously made by Tomer without a hitch. My recent banner order, however, was botched twice by this gal and then she had the audacity to say that I'm responsible to pay for both the botched and new banner order. When asked to speak with the store manager, she claimed that she was the Manager. You can have a temperament of a saint but I guarantee you, this gal will take you to hell and back with her argumentative demeanor. To make matters worst, she treated known acquaintances of mine the very same way. I suspect she treats customers this way because she's the only POC in that department but if Diddams truly cares about their customers and the growth of their business, they should seriously re-evaluate having Julissa run the banner department. read more

But the place is so confusingly organized, I've never been able to go without asking where the item I'm looking for is stocked, and I'm too intimidated to walk the store and get the layout down. Before the pandemic this used to be one of my favorite places to shop. Now it's a complete mess. Recently I went there to get some small plates for my wife. She wanted disposable and clear. I finally found them after asking many people. On the shelf, it showed a set of 5 as $5.99. Went up at the register and they told me it was 9.99. I told them that was the price for the larger plates and they said no somebody moved them. I paid. My wife told me to return them. I went back to return them because they were too pricey, and, even though they had taken the money out of my account immediately., they said it would take five business days to return it. TL;DR: Purchased 2 pairs of mylar balloons. First pair both deflated after couple hours Clerk replaced them. Second pair, 1 burst and 1 deflated. Tried explaining to clerk it could be defective batch of mylar balloons, clerk rudely blamed me for mishandling. My family and I have shopped at Diddams for balloons for years. We are usually very happy with our purchase with no issues. This time however, I went back to exchange the 2 mylar balloons because they had deflated a couple hours after purchasing. The person replaced the 2 mylar balloons. I took them out to my car, put it in my empty trunk for no longer than 1 minute, one popped and the other deflated. It was hot that day, but not hot enough to burst a mylar in a minute. Having had the second pair of mylar balloons go bad, I went back in to tell the person something is wrong with that batch of mylar balloons. The person rudely assumed that it was my fault that they were defective. I calmly explained what happened, but they didn't seem to like my answer and insisted it was my negligence. Reluctantly, the person replaced my balloons and waived a $1 difference. I appreciate that the person replaced the balloons and waived the difference, however, i don't appreciate the person blaming me for an issue that one specific mylar balloon had 4 times in a row. You would think that it could be something other than user error at that point. I now feel extremely uncomfortable purchasing balloons from there knowing I could be blamed and humiliated again. read more

Mountain View location had party supplies for St. Patrick's!! Yes please....Green balloons, party "poppers" and necklaces too. Very festive display. The balloons lasted a long time (with/without helium) and the "poppers" were quite nice with plenty of streamers. Good party fun for us I'll be back for Easter. read more

This place is very underwhelming from the outside, but appearances are deceiving. Once inside, it's like a wonderland of happiness!! I mean, party supplies and all kinds of toys and even candy and treats. I can literally spend hours going down every aisle and the day would be gone. So, I come here only with a list and specific items I am looking for. But it is a happy place to come, outside of the major holidays. It gets kinda crazy around October and New Years. Be warned. Every time we having a kids birthday party we come here for one thing or another that we can't find at party city or the dollar store. Stuff here is a little more expensive then those other places. This place gots everything party related and also got A pretty good selection of games. Ive never venture into the costume section yet, but I know there is one in the back comer. If you don't mind playing a little more then other places this your place But I do suggest you compare prices first before you buy or save the receipt so you can return if you find it cheaper else where. read more

Customers beware. The store does not inform customers of their return policy at check out, especially regarding items they deem to be "Final Sale". I purchased several packages of tights and there are no written signs stating that they are final sale nor was I told at check out. The receipt states that returns are accepted within 30 days with some exceptions*. The exceptions are not detailed anywhere on the receipt and was not verbally communicated upon check out which is a common practice for retail businesses. I was not provided a one time courtesy for a return, exchange, or store credit when it was the fault of the store for failing to inform customers of the return policy. My sister purchased costumes and asked if they could be returned. She was told by a store associate that she had 1 week to return. We came in 5 days later to return and was told that we only had 24 hours to return. I wanted to purchase a masquerade ball mask and there were 2 left but not in good condition. The one I chose had a broken feather. A store associate who helped me out said I could get 10% off. The store manager looked at the mask and said there was nothing wrong with it. Then I showed her the broken feather and she said she would only give a 5% discount. I'd give this place 1 star for their customer service and failure to clearly inform their customers of the return policy. Even worse, store associates provide inconsistent information. I only bumped up the rating to 2 stars in this review because of their wide selection of party accessories. *While writing this review, I came across an image posted on Yelp in October 2015 with the store's return policy and its list of exceptions. The sign is not displayed in a large format and in clear view for all customers to see. I believe this was done purposefully as the bottom line is clearly more importantly than customer service. Like any halfway decent secret magical world, the land of Diddams lies hidden behind a blah entrance that nobody would notice--nor begin to guess at the acres of fairy dust waiting inside. If you're anything like me, you may need to ask a grownup to hold your wallet, lest you buy allllll the lollies, confetti and stickers on Technicolor display. They call it a "party store," but that's an understatement-- this sprawling wonderland has nothing you actually need--but literally everything you could ever want to be happy. Think aisles of glitter. Tiaras galore. Pinwheels a plenty. Grass skirts and cone hats and six trillion kinds of candy. At this writing they had four aisles of Halloween costumes. (From adorable and tiny--to Vegas-level sass.) Most of it was cheap, but not toooo cheap if you kwim. I think I may have bought some gold fingerless gloves, a pair of black angel wings with real feathers, an obscenely long stuffed boa constrictor with two-tone sequins...and a truckload of blowpops. These are the cheap pre-packaged variety, but who are we kidding, how many times would a person wear that Naughty Lady Cop outfit? (Well, I suppose it has uses apart from Halloween...) Prices throughout the store were pretty reasonable. I was blown away by the size of the store and the enormous selection of stuff crammed into every available space. This store is extremely overpriced (for what you get), and employees are quite unfriendly. It does has however everything you could possibly need for a party if you are short on time and don't mind the premium. My biggest pet peeve is their low quality balloons. Every time I've come here, their balloons have deflated within 4-5 hours. I don't expect latex balloons to last 24 hours, but if I purchase balloons in the afternoon, I expect them to last for an evening party. Not so with their balloons - even their mylar balloons deflate within a few hours, which should technically hold air for at least a week! Adding insult to injury, they require you to purchase one of their balloon weights. So the bottom line is that you are going to pay top dollar for a low quality balloon product. read more

I've been to Diddams Mountain View plenty of times now. I'm giving them a 5 star for my recent order from them. We had a grand opening at my company and was in charged of order some decorations. Lisa, balloon specialist, was very responsive and was able to take my order within 5 days before the event. I ordered a full balloon arch that had "grand opening" in silver letters on the front and two balloon columns with a star on top. It was fast and easy to order. We spoke via phone and text messaging. Balloons were delivered to me on the day of the event. They give you a two hour window. The man who dropped it off was very kind and professional. Without the balloons, I feel like the grand opening wouldn't have been so successful! They were beautiful! I also order a banner from them. They were able to take my order the day before the event. Kerria helped me. Again, service was very fast and simple. We talked via phone and email.
