I find it really convenient that the doctors office and the surgical center are right next door to each other at the Digestive Disease Specialists. The doctors visit went extremely well. Making an appointment was easy and there was good communication before coming in. Everyone was nice and professional and the doctor did a great job listening and caring about the issue. The doctor was quick to react as well and offered to do the procedure the next day (although we ended up doing it a week later because of work.) Coming into the surgical center was easy, the person at the check-in desk was extremely nice and was not angry at all that we forgot the required paperwork. It was a bit annoying that they were running very behind. It was over an hour of wait time and apparently there was one patient who just decided to leave. Thankfully, we were early enough that we were only behind about an hour. The staff was apologetic and did give real updates, which I appreciate. The procedure went well and we got the initial images right away. The nurse was so nice and friendly. Can't say I'm looking forward to having to do this biyearly after 50 but at least I know a great place to come to to have it done. read more

I went here because I was having digestive issues. The doctor gave me a endoscopy. I had requested numerous times to the Dr and the MA and someone on the phone whom i talked to when I moved an apt about having a blood test done. They didn't give me one (which seems like common sense) because it can provide an insight as to how your patient is doing. Well it turns out his diagnosis was wrong. I found out two months later I had been having kidney failure!!! Had he done a blood test it would've have shown I was having organ failure!! Maybe I wouldn't be doing dialysis 3 days a week now!! Dr Mujtaba has no bedside manner at all. The only nice thing I have to say is the support staff at the DI location were nice. read more

Our attorney was able to rectify the problem and get us a refund due to the negligence on the staff's behalf. Total nightmare and don't recommend this place at all. My family has been seeing Dr Shafi a long time and yesterday afternoon and most experiences with the MA Jenny is just consistently getting worse. Something needs to be done. She is super unprofessional, rude, dismissive. Very much does not care about the patient and what they are going through. Dr.Mujtaba was very snippy and dismissive. I wasn't called back until an hour and a half after my appointment time. I've been dealing with health issues and currently being seen by multiple specialists . I wanted to rule out any G.I. issues but this doctor is very dismissive on everything I was telling him just wanted to get me to do an endoscopy under anesthesia to check for ulcers and gastritis, which is unrelated to the issues I told him I was having. I could tell he just wanted to rush me out and get onto the next patient .It's important to feel comfortable with the doctor you're seeing so I will be looking for another. After meeting with Dr Chafi he said I needed an endoscopy. When speaking with his scheduler I had a very in depth conversation about the fact that I was a a student at time and couldn't afford to eat let alone get an endoscopy. They insisted that I needed it. The scheduler said I would need to pay $600 in order to have the endoscopy. I agreed I could save and pay the $600. I made it very clear to the scheduler I could not afford to pay anything else. I asked multiple times in different ways to make sure I got my point across. They promised I would not have another bill. I saved for a few months and paid to schedule the surgery. A few months later I was receiving a letter that I was in collections for the surgery. They said I owe them another $600 for the surgery. After calling in and explaining the situation they blamed the insurance and insisted I needed to pay. I had no way to pay. They have had me in collections now for over 5 years. I feel take advantage of. I have been lied to by staff. I had nothing wrong and nothing was found in the endoscopy. Great experience from start to finish. My husband has been a patient of Dr. Shafi for years. It was time for my Colonoscopy so I decided to become a patient as well. Dr. Shafi was very personable during our consultation and we decided on both an endoscopy and colonoscopy. I was able to get an appt quickly. On the day of my appt, the receptionist was very pleasant and helpful. My wait time was minimal. Everyone who provided treatment was attentive and kind. Everything was explained to me and I had plenty of options to ask questions. My comfort was key from beginning to end. My arrival time was 6:50am and I was back at home a touch after 9:30am. I went to dr Shafi because my internist said that he went there and he was great. So there I go and make an appointment and was told I needed a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. Everything went great with the procedure until I was home. Couldn't poop for 6 days after and tried to call them but they never responded to my phone calls. I took laxatives but they didn't work either. I eventually had a rectal prolapse but they still didn't answer any of my phone calls. Fortunately my daughter in law is a PA and she had to prescribe something for me. Never got any response from them. When I went back for the results of my procedures an few weeks later . the only thing they said was that their phone system doesn't work . I am currently looking for another Gastro but apparently all of them are the same they just don't care or maybe it is becuase I am a women! since men seem to be the only gastros in town. read more

The Colonoscopy prep was awful that I went in my underwear and had to change them up to 5 times same goes for my outside pants to change them up to 3 times; then when it came to procedure day, I was hurting cramping never felt before from other past Colonscopy procedure. Absolutely AMAZING. This experience is what I would EXPECT from the American healthcare system. Dr. Shafi is phenomenal - he cares about his patients, he is unbelievably kind and it shows in his work. He is passionate. Whether it's a routine appointment or something such as a colonoscopy/endoscopy (both of which I had done today) Dr. Shafi and ALL of his staff are knowledgeable, caring, and they all do their jobs effectively. They are absolutely outstanding. I am shocked by some of the negative reviews of this place. I'm not sure that these people even visited the same location. The experience I had was nothing short of 10/10. The anesthesiologist was funny, friendly, caring, and smart. The nurses were effective, patient, caring, and down-to-earth. We shared quite a few laughs before and after the procedure. The anesthesiologist was sure to check in before the operation just to learn my background and was very thorough and took the time to answer any questions. In a strange way, the experience was enjoyable because of how interactive the staff was. I did not feel alienated, I felt well taken care of and right at home. At no point was I ever uncomfortable and at no point did I ever feel unsafe or even slightly nervous. Generally, I am anxious before a procedure of any kind - the folks at Dr. Shafi's office were all amazing - from check-in all the way to when I was wheeled out of the office (following anesthesia) - it was such a pleasant experience. Today I am recovering from my first colonoscopy performed by Dr. Shafi. I'm very pleased with the procedure and results. Dr. Shafi was very thorough and professional, also very reassuring. The prep was not much fun, however it is only one day of hell. There was a billing issue but nothing that wasn't straightened out in timely manner. Overall, I would highly recommend this office and the doctor. I found everything ran like a well oiled machine from admitting to procedure and finally the discharge. My doctor suggested I get the dreaded colonoscopy. I was not thrilled as after the first one 10 years ago, I swore it would be my one and only. No fun! I was referred to the DDC & to Dr Mujtaba. He was not a man of many words, but he knows his stuff. He listened to my reservations about the prep fluid and actually prescribed a more tolerable one. The Desert Inn office was available for my schedule to do the procedure. I found the Staff (from the front desk, the prep nurse, to the anesthesiologist) very communicative, kind and warm. second colonoscopy and they perforated my colon. the quality of care was abysmal knowing I was not completely clean they proceeded blindly and put a hole in my colon. staff is not polite or courteous, treating patients with little to no compassion for there medical experience. in short it's and assembly line operation for attune to manufacturing than medical treatment. suggestion don't go. read more

WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DOCTOR Dr. Haikal was kind, attentive and knew what he was doing. He was busy, yet aware every minute of my daughter's care from the moment he realized what she needed. He took great care to get her in for testing, and get her the needed medications. He explained everything thoroughly and we left with results and a plan. My daughter was very nervous about the entire process. Dr. H and his staff were perfect at putting her at ease. The offices are a bit confusing, bcs there are three (I think) and the work and dynamic in each is a bit different. This can make follow up calls tough. But the nurses did reply when we had questions. (A friend of ours went to another doctor in LV for the same tests and his experience was a mess! Had a procedure months and months ago. My father had cancer so I wanted to make sure I was ok. The problem is there billing department. I hadn't heard from these folks in 12 months. Come to find out I have a $255 bill due that I'm 30 days away from collections. Not one bill arrived from them but they swear bills have been sent out. I came down here to pay in full and they have all of my information correct. They wait 12 months and then threaten collections if it is not paid in full and to tip it off they have heard the same complaints. The prep the day before was just as horrible as it always is, but the actual procedure went smoothly and efficiently. the nurses at this location are top notch and very professional . Nikki got my IV first stick and I didnt feel it at all. The nurse in recovery was so cheerful and helpful . I want to say her name was Christy.
