We parked at Dillard's to get into the mall, and unknowingly walked into a party! They had a DJ, complimentary snacks and drinks, and a free photo booth! We learned that it was for an event they hold twice a year. All the employees we spoke to were very nice. The only downside of this unexpected experience was with someone who I believe was hired for the event (not an employee of Dillard's) was very rude and ignored me when I tried to ask a question that would have taken two seconds to answer. read more

I purchased a gift card online for e-delivery for my Anniversary tomorrow. The Dillard's site stated that it would be available to print out. An hour later, I called customer service to inquire, and they said that it could take up to 48 hours to be emailed! That information should have been disclosed at the point of purchase. Deborah is a fragrance associate at Dillards in the men's department. Last week my husband and I wandered into the men's cologne area. Immediately, Deborah approached us with a welcoming smile. "Hello! I'm Deborah," she greeted, "Can I help you with something?" After a brief introduction, my husband confessed he wanted to replace a bottle cologne that was stolen out of his luggage during a business trip and unable to find. Deborah replied, "Don't worry, we'll find the perfect fragrance. Let's start with understanding your preferences. Do you know if you prefers floral, fruity, oriental, or woody scents?" As my husband described his preferences and personality, Deborah listened attentively and began suggesting appropriate fragrances. She let husband take his time, smelling each sample. My husband identified some he liked that he purchased some he was unsure, Deborah offered to prepare several samples for him to take home so he could try them and see how I also liked them on him. My husband was appreciative and agreed. Deborah carefully prepared the samples, ensuring to write down each fragrance's name and details. My husband left the store feeling confident about his choices, and grateful for Deborah's expertise and thoughtfulness. A couple of days later , Deborah called to advised she was able to find a bottle of the cologne my husband wanted but couldn't find any where. We let her know we would come in the next day. Deborah was not just an associate, but a newfound confidante in the world of perfumes. It was, indeed, an excellent customer service experience facilitated by Deborah's empathy, experience, and her knack for going the extra mile. We stopped in to grand a couple dress shirt for my husband and they were having a special on certain shirts but the store was very cluttered at the time we were shopping so a gentleman helped us pick out a few shirt and we headed to the counter we got there and out total was way over priced and we asked about the 65% off and he said of I guess these shirts were in the wrong spot that's the total so we politely declined making the purchase because we thought the shirts were on sale well we talked to another woman working in the next department and she said if they were in the wrong spot they should have gave you the price we told her who it was and she kindly said she would fix the issue, so luckily she was able to get us the discount they were after talking with a manager, so she saved the day I would I could have remembered her name but thank you read more

First time I ever shopped at a Dillard's was so long ago, I remembered hearing about Don Johnson of "Miami Vice" fame being a regular shopper here. Of course, Mr. *swoon* Johnson went on much later, and fairly recently, to play a significant role in the cult movie "Django". That one where everyone seemed to name their dog "Django" after the movie, to be cool, I guess - "Django", Haha. I've had nothing but luck and found good shopping at this Dillard's location. Earlier this Spring, I found some Tom's "Lexie" sandals in Size 5.5 on sale in the shoe section and they are so cute. Their whole "one for one" movement is based on the premise that "with every pair you purchase, Toms will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need". Pretty good business model I'd say and as a result, Toms has had booming sales for many years not only for their humanitarian ways, but because their casual shoes are so comfortable you don't need to break them in! I've been carrying those tiny little "wristlets" for several years. I was walking through Dillard's, with the destination being the parking lot and my car, because I was on my way home, when a gorgeous!!! perfect!!! bag caught my eye! I walked up to it, looked at it long enough to know I loved it, but not long enough to look at the price, snapped a pic and went home. That handbag was on my mind and that's when I know I really have to have something. :) The next morning when I went to the store to purchase it, I discovered the entire line went on sale that very morning, so of course I bought the matching inside clutch to go with the bag. The next day, after rechecking my finances, I went back and bought the cute back pack "charm". The ladies who work in the departments I've browsed have all been very helpful. All of them have been friendly, accommodating, have gone the extra mile with a smile. Sorry I don't remember names, but the departments I've perused in a positive light are shoes, cosmetics (especially MAC), handbags, juniors clothing, and sportswear. Dillard's restrooms are always being serviced and CLOSED. I suppose that's a good thing that they are being cleaned, but rather annoying that it seems to be a constant whenever I've been in the store. read more

Absolutely appalling customer service at Dillard's today! I tried to return a Gold Label dress shirt that I had purchased just a few days ago because the product left me unsatisfied and caused physically damage to my neck. I wore the $55.00 Gold Label white dress shirt for an hour and it was for wedding pictures but I had to take it off due to the issue that it was causing irritation to my neck. The representative I spoke with was completely unhelpful. Right off the bat, the woman rudely said she can't return the product due to the fact that there was no tags. I provided the receipt and tags (which were proof of purchase). The lady then stated that she needed "authorization" to return it. Another lady came to "help" but same as the other one, gave me the same excuse. The lady then calls over a manager named John. I explained the situation to him but same as the other two they didn't believe me. At this point I genuinely felt as if I was being judged due to my age and appearance because of questions being made to me such as "Do you often wear dress shirts?". John also decided to state the fact he also "wears" Gold Label shirts and that this has never happened to him before, insinuating that he believes I'm lying. Not once in this entire situation or time period were these workers nice and warming, quite the opposite. Felt as if they believed I was lying just to get my money back from a product I was genuinely upset with. Never again will come to shop at a place like this. read more

On a shopping trip to the Brandon, Fl. Dillard's yesterday ( 4/14/15) at 11am , I went to the fitting room in the woman's dept on the 2nd floor to try on a few items. Much to my dismay, the floor was filthy, the chair and table inside were something I'd find at a garage sale ( broken and full of scratchings of obscene words), and there was only ONE hook to hang garments...in a ladies fitting room? I recently bought a Christmas present for my husband. Not realizing that the item (a shirt on sale) had to be returned if it didn't fit within 3 days, I carefully wrapped it and placed it under the tree waiting (about 2 weeks) for Christmas. When he tried on the shirt, which was his correct size, didn't fit wellI attempted to return it. Informed by the sales clerk it was neither refundable or exchangeable, I was disappointed. I related the tale of the Nordstrom customer in Alaska who returned snow tires to a store that doesn't sell tires to her, pointing out the importance of good customer service. While it is not the clerk's fault she could not accept the shirt, I do have a choice of places to shop. Based solely on this experience I will not shop at Dillards in the future. Frankly, there is no merchandise they sell that is not available through other outlets besides Dillards. So Dillards, you have lost this customer and I will be sharing this story with all my friends and family. read more
