I visited this store looking for a formal gown for an upcoming event. I selected several dresses and went into the changing room to try them on. There was no attendent in sight, so I selected a room and went in. There were clothes hanging inside the changing room, but that was not unusual as garments are often left in changing rooms when the attendents are no where to be found. A short time later, there was a rap at the door and the attendent says "Ma'am, that room is taken". I replied, "It was empty when I entered", to which she asked me if I was dressed because she had been putting clothes in that room for someone else to try on and if nothing else, I needed to at least let her in to retrieve them. Her behaviour was expremely rude and embarrassing. I dressed myself, vacated the dressing room, and advised the clierk that I would be spending my money elsewhere. I sent an e-mail to Dillards regarding this incident and I did recieve a phone call from the store manager. He apologized profusely and advised me that he would address this with his staff. The fact that the store manager responded to quickly and promised to address the situation restores my faith in Dillards. read more

Oak mall location, has the best Lingerie department. The ladies at that location are so knowledgeable about the products. Bra shopping is not an easy task. I was so thankful. read more

My 15 year old daughter went in to try a' white dress, I assume in the juniors department. She picked ONE dress. The sales associate in a pant suit (didn't get her name) so I spoke to Patty who allowed my daughter to try the dress on in the ladies room. Unless mysterious pant suit lady get fired I will never shop there again. Amazon for life. read more

Bessie & shirl we're really good at helping me feel welcomed at Dilliards, I was up opening a credit application & Tammy the beauty manager, was very rude. I was trying to get a few perfume samples to try out, & she said "this is not going to happen everyday" I don't even live in Independence, I'm from out of state, so that comment was very. Please step down Tammy & lose the attitude, please do not bring your problems to work. I don't feel good going to Dillards because of people like Tammy. read more

The evening manager Of DILLARDS Locked my husband out of the store tonight without his phone! Even when they made it seem like he was going to get it back. He accidentally left it on the check-out counter after making a purchase. When he realized it was gone he asked a "security guard" (without keys)for help and the guy walkied his boss to grab it and bring it to the doors. He waited for 40 minutes while they went back and forth with him. Like they were getting it and never did! Then as he was leaving he saw the employees leaving to get in the car to go home. Including the manger whom was supposed to get his phone. We have called. They didn't even care. The only person that was helpful was the security guard. read more

I came to do some last-minute gifting, Mabel was so sweet & helpful with the KitchenAid mixer, Emmett had the right idea for teapots, & Dennis (I think this name is incorrect) carried the heavy parts out to my car! I accompanied by better half to return a shirt today. We waited at one register for 15 minutes and the clerk was still busy with the previous customer so we walked around looking for an alternate register. The only employee who spoke to us (multiple walked by, a supervisor even) was at the fragrance counter and she guided us to the polo register. The employee said "Just a minute" as we stood there while she was showing her coworker features of her cell phone. We were then given a ticket to take to the third floor for the refund. It took almost 45 minutes to return one shirt with the tags still on it and receipt in hand. The lack of customer service was a little startling and a significant hassle to return merchandise. This review is for the Independence Center Dillard's store. Much better selection of merchandise than Zona Rosa (in north KC area) for certain. Employees seemed friendlier too! :) We drove to this store to pick up a pair of special dress shoes that were on hold. The store in Zona had zero selection and the slowest person on the planet working that day. We had her call this store to see if they had any of the same style in a different size and after listening to a painfully long call, she said "they don't have any." My friend secretly whipped out her cell phone, called this same location, quickly told the sales person the shoe brand, style name and size needed, and the sales person responded, "yes, we have one pair left!" Needless to say, we put it on hold and I came the next day to pick them up. read more

I absolutely adore this store. The sales are awesome! I've been shopping here for years, but I had a really bad experience about six months ago that cost the store my business. I was shopping with two friends for a dress in the juniors section. There were no attendants near the fitting rooms, so I just went ahead and picked a room. There were other customers already doing the same thing. But as I was trying my dresses on, an employee came up to my friends and told them she needed all the dresses back right now. She didn't give them a reason, but I guess she thought we were suspicious because we didn't ask for a room, but it's not my job to run around the whole store to find her. If it's so important that customers don't enter the fitting rooms without an attendant present, you better have someone there. This was the fall and I was trying on three summer dresses on sale, so I didn't have more than maybe $50 in that room. We asked to speak to a manager and were redirected so many times that I'm not sure we even spoke to the right person, but I resent being treated like a criminal because she wasn't doing her job. read more

I purchased a clearance item in the home department three days ago. I should have paid better attention when the cashier ringed up the sale because I did not receive the additional 40 percent discount which was being offered. I brought the item back two days later with my receipt and asked for a price adjustment. The clerk in the home department sent me up to the third floor customer service desk for assistance. The clerk in customer service refused to refund the difference in price which was only about $12.00. The clerk was very rude and unprofessional. I then told her I want to return the item for a refund. She said okay but that I would not be able to re=purchase the same item at the lower price. I asked why not and she simply said it was store policy. Of course I started in on the clerk and raised my voice and demanded to speak to her manager. The manager arrived quickly and told me she would only offer to adjust the price if I charged the purchase back to my Dillard's credit card. I told the manager to forget about it and just refund my money. I told the manager I did not wish to make anymore purchases from Dillard's. After almost 35 years shopping at Dillard's, I am through with this company. I simply will not tolerate to be treated in a disrespectful manner by Dillard's. Dillard's used to be a very special place to shop years ago. However, their policies, pricing of merchandise, and poor customer service do not make me want to shop here anymore. read more

Dillard's is my go to store!!! I have always shopped at Independence, MO Dillard's (25+ years) and have NEVER had a problem. The staff is always curtious and helpful. They're customer service is wonderful!!!! I can't say that about any other department store. Over the years I have learned to shop Dillard's first because they always have what I'm looking for no matter what department I need to shop. read more
