If you're a fan of Ralph Lauren like I am, you've got to check their department out. It is way better then, Macy's. Also, when they have items on sale or clearance, the prices are equally as good as local outlet store. The department is laid out well and the sales associate working was helpful without being overly pushy. I like it when I am left alone, I typically can do more damage shopping by myself. If the Ralph Lauren department is this good, I need to make time to check out other areas of the store and see if they are equally as good. read more

The Galleria is the mall I grew up going to. I was in this Dillard's last week to return something for my Mother. I hadn't been in here in years. It's depressing. The store is dark and old. The carpets are stained. The merchandise looks dated. I went up to the third floor and felt like I walked in circles for a long time trying to find someone who worked here to take my return. When I did find a sales associate she was pleasant. She did ask if this was purchased in store. I felt the hanger, the garment bag, and the sales receipt were proof of that but who am I? Mission accomplished but this experience is a good argument for online shopping! Unfortunately this kind of retail seems to be dead. read more

I'm with my husband who has a work trip. The Galleria mall is where I spend my day as hes working. When I go walking in Dillards there's a sale lady who is a pain in the butt. At first she comes over & trys to get me to buy. Ok she might be trying to get commission. ? However since I haven't bought anything each time I walk her area she calls me out & just now said to me, you're still here? In front of customers. All im doing is minding my business getting in exercise & doing some light shopping. Her tone to me was rude. She already knew days before im on vacation. Is she suspicious of me? Dillard's has been a pleasant surprise. We had a family funeral recently and the selection of in stock suits (men's and children's), women's dresses, shoes (children and adults) were amazing. Sales associates were very personable and caring. I felt like I was back in the 1990s pre-internet shopping-the shoes salesman actually cared and took such care of my shoes after I purchased them (and gave me a lollipop). The other sales associates were just as friendly and caring. The outdated feeling of the fixtures just adds to the nostalgia. I will definitely be back to Dillards. Dillards is so much better than Macys. Better quality definitely. Macys just isn't what it used to be. It's going out of business soon and you can tell at the local stores in STL. DILLARDS sales and selections is way above Macys. They offer better points, sales, selection and better staff. Traveled to Florida and the Dillards at UTC in Sarasota is beautiful and amazing ! I went there specifically to buy a Betsey Johnson watch. I had seen them the day before Valentine's Day and figured they would be on sale the loving day. They weren't. That was okay because I liked them so much that I still was going to get one. I had to go find a sales person. I pointed out the watch I wanted to look at and she took it out for me. When I went to take it out of the box, I was informed that they don't do it unless you purchase it. So I have to buy this watch and hope it looks good on my wrist. And then if it doesn't, I have to return it. Would I come back here? Yes, I think Friday I'm going to go back and have her take out at least the five watches that I was interested in looking at. I don't normally choose Dillard's when there's a Macy's nearby but since I parked directly in front of Dillard's doors here at the Saint Louis Galleria, I thought I'd stop on in. I shopped every floor and was impressed by how neat everything was, almost sparse, though. The displays, particularly in the women's and junior's departments, were colorful and eye-catching. The thing that is definitely not great is that I didn't see many employees and that not one of them acknowledged me in any way. read more

I don't usually shop here, but occasionally they have good deals on items found in higher end department stores. I enjoy their makeup selection the most. You'll be able to find all of your cosmetic needs here: Chanel, Lancome, Estee Lauder...and their perfume as well, of course. They usually have some sort of deal when you buy their perfumes/makeup kits. You might get a free lip gloss or tote bag. Their shoe selection is satisfactory. I'm entirely too particular about shoes, but Dillard's offers almost all of the styles of shoes that are popular...Toms, Sperry's, ridiculously coloured, spike-studded high heels you probably couldn't walk down the street in. I wanted to buy an anniversary present for the wife, who loves Judith Jack jewelry. Dillard's carries it. So I go in and pick out a bracelet that is marked $175. It rings up $195. The clerk changes it without prompting from me, but remarks, "well it was marked $175 but it's really $195, but since it was marked wrong we HAD to change it for you." What do you want, a cookie or something? You have to honor your marked prices. But I didn't think too much about it, just took it and left. I gave it to my wife later that evening, she liked it... I thought the story would be over. The very next day one of the stones falls off of it. So we take it back to the same location and get a different clerk. I still have the receipt mind you. The clerk immediately calls a manager and is on the phone for awhile with them. Finally she gets off of the phone and says, "well the reason it was marked down 10% is because it was damaged." First off you moron, 10% off of $195 isn't $175. Second if I had purchased it knowing it was damaged why the hell would I be in the next day? Luckily there was another bracelet in the case that was still marked $175 that the other clerk had been too lazy to change. Ultimately we just swapped out the bracelets, but I really did not like the accusatory tone of where either clerk was going. People wonder why malls are empty, well stupid crap like that isn't helping. read more

This Dillard's has a notably good BCBG Maxazria section. Each Dillard's I've been to has something different to highlight for executing well, and this one dominates for one of my favorite designers. In addition to carrying a good selection of BCBG (and many times discounting different items than the actual BCBG stores), Dillard's has a good women's shoe department, lingerie department (many times having sales on bras, as well), and a good makeup selection. While the store shows its age (there's a good bit of wear and tear that's obvious to the average customer) and isn't always the cleanest or most organized, I still enjoy going every once in a while to see what's new, different, and on sale. You never know what gem you might discover amidst all the normal stuff. read more

I generally visit Dillards only at Clinique bonus time. I feel like the merchandise (particularly the clothing) is a little too spaced out and also sparse. I have better luck at Macy's and JCP. Dillard's clearance is remarkable in that you can find brand new designer apparel at a fraction of the original price. Dillards as well as other corporations are too rigid in their late fee policies. If you under pay by .01 they will charge you the standard late fee. There is a one time a year forgiveness policy. 1991 is calling and they want their store back. This behemoth of a department store (5 floors total, with 335,000 square feet of retail space) first opened as a Stix Baer & Fuller in 1955 and was completely remodeled (expanded) in 1986 and again in 1991 (50,000 square feet expansion). (Dillards acquired and rebranded the 13 store chain in 1984 from Associated Dry Goods). The men's department was partially remodeled in 2003 (mens shoes, suits and accessories were moved to the second floor with the expected closing of the Garden Room restaurant) while the Home Store (located on the top floor) was fully remodeled in 2005. Other than a welcome coat of paint in various departments this store has seen very little in the way of remodeling in the last 10 years. (with the exception of newly installed elevators and escalators that replaced the original transport machines from the fifties). William Dillard Sr. would never allow one of his stores to look this way if he were alive today. The children's department's (located in the basement) carpeting is so worn it would make more sense to remove the carpeting leaving the exposed concrete floor. Many of the wrapping counters and clothing fixtures were purchased during the Reagan era. The ceiling tiles are stained and yellowed. This store was originally scheduled to undergo a makeover in anticipation of the new Nordstrom's which opened four years ago. Dillards dramatically decreased capital expenditure over the past two years so the delayed remodel looks questionable now. read more

I was there today to try on a pair of Nike training shoe that was on sale online. This was my first Dillard's shopping experience, let me tell you, it was worse than awful!! I left the store furious and humiliated after an encounter with a demeaning and very unprofessional shoe department manager, Bob Geitemeier (last name may be spelled wrong), who clearly didn't know customer service and lacked basic retail skill (look up the correct item). It was Thursday afternoon and hard to find someone to assist me. But I didn't mind that. I should tell you now, before I went into the store, I checked the prices online ----the white/fuchsia (the one I want) was on sale for $52 on dillards.com, while the grey/pink is full price at $100 on dillards.com. In the store, I was told that the white/fuchsia, despite being exact same style and color, was sold full price at $100. The sales associate told me how Dillard's does this all the time, some color will be marked down and others not. Well I'm not new to this. I asked if they could match the online price. They brought in the manager. While his was checking their computer system, I told him that Nike makes this style in two very similar colors, white/fuchsia , and grey/pink--- I know this because I had just returned the grey/pink version to another retailer. I just wanted to make it clear to him that I'm buying and talking about the white/fuchsia one. He went defensive and said with a straight face, "I KNOW how to look up the correct item, I've been doing this for 9 years". Awkward. After what seems like a long time, he told me that price for white/fuchsia was full price online, not discounted at all, he said he looked it up in his cell phone as well as their system. He, as I had expected, was confused by the two colors. So I pointed out that, although the color on the pictures look similar, the text in the dropped down menu clearly showed that the color I wanted, white/fuchsia, is on sale. As I was trying the clarify the matter with him, he just kept saying firmly, "you got this wrong, it was at full price." and trying to leave. I understood he may be busy, but I asked him, "can I show you real quick on my phone that the price for white/fuchsia is truly listed for sale", he didn't try to listen to me, and said, "you are just trying to trick me." UNBELIEVABLE! REALLY?! I've never felt so humiliated before!! I have computer screenshots that can show the world that dillards.com has my "Nike Women´s Free 5.0 TR Fit 5 Breathe Training Shoes" in white/fuchsia in size 7.5 on sale on 8/27/2015 for $52! Even if you sell the exact item (style,color and size) online vs in store at a 100% price difference, even if you refuse to match the online price, you can still say it in a not so demeaning way! I didn't challenge them for their policy to not price-match, I was calm and composed the entire time, even after I was accused of "tricking" him! Why on earth did I deserve to be treated with such horrible attitude and utter unprofessionalism? No one deserves to be treated like this! After all this hassle and embarrassment, I will never shop at Dillard's again: 1. their employees clearly were not well-trained 2.they advertised online at 100% price difference than what was priced in store ($52 vs $100) 3.they make sure to not sell you the product by refusing to match online price 4. they make sure that their employees do it in a way that ensures you will never shop from them again. Had the most offensive experience today at Dillard's. I visited the cologne counter to see what I would purchase. I told the lady I would be back after thinking it over. I bought a shirt in the men's dept then went back to purchase a couple of cologne sets. As I arrived at the counter, the cop that was at first in the men's dept charged over to the counter so fast that he ran past me as if he was there to catch me stealing. Then he came right next to me and sprayed a sample cologne on looking a bit nervous because he knew that I was on to him. I started to tell the clerk I didn't want anything because of that, but she kept giving me free stuff. She also noticed his reaction. read more

This afternoon (May 28) I went shopping at the BCBG counter where I happily found some amazing deals. Unfortunately, the lady working the counter was absolutely rude. She never once asked if I needed any help while I was browsing around, nor did she even assist me with a dressing room. I just assumed she was busy at that point or that was just how subpar the service at Dillard's is. So, after a few minutes of awkwardly standing at the doorway to the dressing rooms I let myself into one. I didn't realize just how unwilling the lady was to help me until I was ready to check out. I stood in front of her for several minutes and she never once acknowledged me. Only when I asked her if she could check me out, her curt reply was "What". I was so taken aback by her tone and comment that I repeated my request again. This time she said there are other people in front of you. No one was in front of me. Clearly she wasn't going to be very pleasant so I went across to the Eileen Fisher counter where the nice lady there checked me out. This absolutely the most horrendous encounter I have ever had with any store and sadly I was not able to get the lady's name. I did see the lady gladly help other customers, but she was very reluctant to help me and her tone made me feel as if I was inferior. Does Dillard's support this level of customer service? Should I, as a respectful customer, be made to feel like my business if unwanted? read more

My daughter had great success finding a wide selection of clothing she needed for her two week honeymoon. However, one suggestion for Dillard's: in this day and age of the Internet, you should really do price matching. She found a dress $100 cheaper than your price just by searching the item online. If you are looking for men's suits, go ask for Sean (in on Saturdays). He will take wonderful care of you. I find that the prices, selection, and quality of the men's tailored clothing is significantly better than what you'll find at Macy's or Nordstroms. Often times, they are moving inventory out, and you can get slacks or jackets at 70% off. Yes, you read that right. Recently, I was in the need to find clothing for my Mother's funeral. In this world of business casuL, I found my wardrobe lacking. I remembered Dillard's had a line of clothing geared towards professional woman, so this is where I headed. The sales person was very helpful & patient, as I was on a mission with no time to dawdle. I ended up buying a pant suit, blouse and a dress, a reasonably large purchase of over $600.00. All items were full priced. I have been reluctant to do any major purchases at Dillard's since I remembered I had a terrible experience and vowed never to again. And with the exception of inexpensive sale earrings, I never have...and now I remember why. The suit I purchased for the funeral very quickly went on sale and I went in to get a price adjustment. I was informed that they do not issue price adjustments. This is the 21st century- right? Nordstom's, Macy's, Target, etc does, but not Dillard's. So instead of still having a $240.00 sale on the suit after refunding me approximately $80.00- I returned the suit. I could have then re-purchased same suit on the spot, but I thought why? Both times in the store- the sales person was pleasant and professional. Both times in the store- it was virtually empty- even tonight when it is the Christmas season. read more

Dillard's is always my last resort when it comes to department stores in the Galleria. I find the service to be subpar at best. Although the store is well stocked (and often times the reason I need to stop in), I find it overwhelmingly cluttered. Case in point: the woman's shoe department. Old time store with a new age feel. I have been frequenting this location for some time now and it's top notch. They have their own alterations department and Aveda Spa on site. The staff is generally wonderful and if you watch the sales you can get a ton of great stuff for over half off. It's like an upscale Macy's or JC Penney. Definitely worth a visit. read more

I like to think of Dillard's as a hidden gem. they don't advertise, but they really should. They offer great selection at all price ranges and have GREAT sales! This is always my first place to stop when shopping at the Galleria - Nordstroms is a bit too expensive and Macys just annoys me... Along with the great shoe department, Dillards Galleria has an awesome lingerie department... if you can find it (p.s. it on the lower level, aka the basement) Great workers down there - by the time you check out and are ready to leave, you feel like family. not to mention, the great sales they have down there - i walked out with a pair of underwear for $.98 and a $4 + change bra.... can you say....AWESOME???? love the store, love the staff, and i've done some research and even love the company as a whole - keep it up dillards! read more
