Good location, located in Kirkwood near other stores. Plenty of parking outside. They have lots of name brand items for a decent price. They have a nice selection of home decor, cleaning items,clothes, purses, shoes, toys and other miscellaneous items. Although i wasn't able to find much of what i needed, i was able to grab 1 or 2 items i saw that i wanted. Check out lines were long, but the employees moved fast. They were friendly and greeted you while in line and at the register. read more

I've been coming to TJ Maxx to help save money with my family for about five years. Sometimes you really do have to find or dig deep to find a good deals, but as far as home essentials like cookware, they really do have great deals and majority of the time. I do like their purse area for Christmas gifts. I was able to find a mom and me Collection this year. It was damaged, but the store took care of it. They also have perfume and shoes as well as home decor. You can pretty much do anything you need here. My favorite section is probably the pet section. They have a lot of cute and unique dog beds. read more

This T.J. Maxx is in the Kirkwood Commons Center near the Target. Found a House of Joseon Eye Serum here that I already use. The price was about 45% off retail so that was a no brainer. This is a busy place and it's obvious a lot of merchandise passes through here. There was a good selection in all of the departments and the checkout line moved pretty quickly on a busy Saturday. There was one sketchy guy moving about the store and staring while I was there. I found myself extra defensive. Hopefully next time he's not here! read more

The selection of handbags and name brand clothes are great. The attitude of the employees is not. Becky at the jewelry counter was the only exception. She was very helpful and patient. This TJ Maxx location has a great selection of men's watches for an even better price. The rest of the employees were extremely strict and unfriendly. For example, our experience with the woman working in the fitting rooms was almost comical. She was very harsh and clearly unhappy. Additionally, the woman working at the register very rudely told us that we needed to move about a foot back in line because we were "too close" to the register, even though was only one customer in front of us and no one behind us. Both of them acted like they had some sort of supreme power over us, which was very strange. We weren't doing anything wrong, yet they still appeared to find small ways to control what we were doing. Even then, they could've used simple manners such as "please" or "thank you" but they did not. Honestly one of the weirdest department store experiences I've ever encountered. read more

This is a good locations. Lots of other stores close by. I found the store pretty clean and well stocked. They had a good selection of clearance items as well of regular items. This is a great place to shop for yourself and a wonderful place if you need to find a gift for someone. They have a little bit of everything here. They could have used more workers at the check out, there were only two. There were only two and the line was a bit long. On the flip side I love shopping the Aisle a Shame which is the aisle you have to walk through to check out. read more

This location is OK. It's conveniently located in Kirkwood in a strip mall with Target, Home Goods, Treats Unleashed and several other surrounding businesses. I stopped in to checkout the candle collection and dog aisle. They offer a really nice selection of dog beds for larger dogs that are reasonably priced and good quality. They have the dog feeding bowls with the stand priced right and the treat selection gets a high five from me. The store is on the smaller side but does pack a punch as far as selection wise. I believe you can find something in there to catch your eye and open your wallet. My favorite aisle is the checkout aisle.....omggggg, it is literally designed to make you walk slowly to glance at single item on the shelf, bend over at times and pick-up things you know you don't need but want to have them anyway. I get soo caught-up I tell the customer behind me to go ahead. read more

Trash service. I wanted to get a two piece $10.99 outfit for my sons picture day. There was only a shirt available. The manager also looked for the pants and couldn't find them. I asked could it be reduced to half price. And then the manager proceeded to say there was a policy they had to hold the clothing for seven days? Ridiculous policy. And he acted like the ceo was going to come in and say that he would be fired for reducing a price LOL. Don't shop there. read more

One of my favorite places to buy dog bowls. Why pay the high prices at a doggie boutique when you can find bowls just as cute and functional at TJ Maxx at a fraction of the cost. TJ is also a great place to find colorful socks and pocket squares. Again, why pay the high prices at a regular retail store when you can find them here at a majorly reduced price. Shirts and pants, I've never had much luck here, but I keep looking hoping some day I'll find a keeper. Another area, I always check out is the kitchen accessories. You can always find a new gadget or gizmo for the kitchen. I already have a great set of pots and pans, but here I can always find a little sauce pan or a specialty pan at a great price. Seriously, who cares if it doesn't match my main set of pots? I'm just using it for cooking and keeping it shut up in a cabinet or drawer when it's not being used. Some days I go to Tj Maxx and love to browse, but other days I get annoyed by the clutter and don't have the patience. This last visit I was on a mission to find a dress. I knew what I was looking for and went straight to the dresses (of course I took a detour through shoes, accessories, and tops). Browsing the selection was not as exciting as it should have been. Maybe that's because there were mostly sweater dress and winter items to choose from also because there were so many S's to choose from and I am NOT a S! Normally I am able find a few to try on, but this visit I was not successful. I enjoyed browsing for a few minutes, but when I couldn't find what I wanted I had to leave. I do wish this could be a more organized store,but I can't blame the staff I really do blame the customers for knocking things all over and screwing up the order to the racks. I found myself straightening hangers and re-positioning items and so I knew I had to leave. Tj Maxx I do love browsing your store, but sometimes I get too overwhelmed and don't have the patience. I will be back again, but not until I can get over the memories from this last visit. read more

At TJ Maxx, you will find nice things at an even nicer price! I have been here several times now being that it is only about 2 miles from the house, it has new and surprising things every week (maybe even every day if you can check that often), and their prices can't be beat. I've purchased some things for the home: a new runner for $12.99, a fruit hanging basket on clearance for $10 (and I see nothing wrong with it, holds my fruits and hangs a hand of bananas just perfectly fine), some clothing items on clearance, salon quality shampoo, conditioner and other hair products, and a nice queen-sized flannel sheets for only $25! I know, you are probably thinking... a queen flannel sheet set for $25... must be really awful! To tell you the truth, I am not a fan of flannel sheets because I get too hot but during the cold winter nights, there is nothing like slipping into an already warm bed and actually, my $25 investment is much more comfortable than the sheets I purchased prior to finding one at TJM and paid way more than what I wanted to for a sheet set that is going to only be used in the winter. The staff are always attentive here. Sometimes the line can get fairly long but they do try their best to get you checked out quickly. The store itself is clean and fairly well-organized. I could get lost in this store for hours! They also started carrying smaller furniture and some adorable accent chairs and side tables. I always look forward to the next time I can pay this store a visit! read more

Departments sotres.... I think I dislike them more than malls but you know what, TJ Maxx has a diverse selection of wrapping paper. I was our running errands with my girlfriend and we stopped by here after Home Goods to check out their selection. They had bins upon bins of classic and classy wrapping paper! Spice up your gifts this season by grabbing some from here. They have an okay selection of random kitchen home stuff but clothes wise TJ Maxx just kind of feels like chaos to me. For someone who does like 99% of their shopping online, TJ Maxx really isn't THAT bad. read more

My earliest memories of TJ Maxx are from the early 90's, when I was just a kid. I remember shopping at the TJ Maxx in the Clocktower Plaza in North County with my mom. Or rather, crying angry tears as my mom dragged me and my sister here for back to school shopping. I hate shopping now, and I hated it even more back then. For what seemed like hours, I would try on item after item that my mom picked out. Itchy turtlenecks. Ugly oversized sweaters. Stupid strirrup leggings (remember those?!). It was torture. Ugh, early 90's fashion. I still have pretty negative associations with TJ Maxx and it's evil sister, Marshalls. So when my grandma suggested hitting up The Maxx (does anyone call it that? Because y'all totally should) for some housewares, my inner 8 year old was against the idea. But it's pretty hard to say no to grandma. It's something about that sickeningly sweet voice that makes it hard to say no. I hope I can be that convincing in 50 years. Anyway, we strolled in and walked straight past the clothing section to housewares. Phew. Dodged a bullet there. I spotted a small kid with his mom, heading into the dressing room, cart full of clothes in tow. I feel your pain, kid. I feel your pain. I promise this review has a point. We head into housewares, and with g-ma's help, I found lots of goodies -- a pretty sweet mirror for the wall, some decorative pillows, a sweet duvet cover, some miscellaneous art -- and it was all relatively cheap! Score. Since this is the first time I've visited TJ Maxx in over 10 years, I don't have any other locations to compare it to. Based on this visit alone, I'll have to give it 4 stars. Just don't tell my mom. She'd get way too much of a kick out of it. read more

Some people think TJ Maxx is just for discounted name brand clothing. But move through the racks to the back of the store, and you'll find linens (like the sheets on my bed) and housewares, some small enough to be stocking stuffers (like sturdy sea salt and peppercorn mills). From my limited perspective, the selection of men's clothing is not as attractive as ten years ago (or maybe I'm just getting old). read more

There's nothing wrong with the merchandise or anything, it's your typical TJ Maxx. However, I'm not sure if all T.J. Maxx stores are like this...I guess I never noticed because I'm a new mom, but I was very frustrated to find no changing table in the bathroom. There was a handicapped stall with plenty of room for one. If I didn't have my stroller that reclines I probably would of had to leave to find a more accommodating restroom. Junk. That's all I found at this TJ Maxx. One could argue *all* of their stores are like that, but they're really not. I enjoy the one in West County, but this one is so much closer to me. I perused the stored on a lazy Sunday and found absolutely nothing. And not because I'm that picky, but because literally every piece of clothing I bothered to sort through was just crap. Their home good section wasn't that great either, just go to the Home Goods right in the same area. Skip this discount store, and if you can, check out the West County location. read more

I couldn't tell you the last time that I bought clothing at this store which is what I think they are largely considered (a clothing store). I actually really like to peruse the home goods section. You can find kitchen utensils cheaper here than big box stores like Target and Walmart and you can usually find the more unique ones as well. Also, they typically have a fun selection of sauces and condiments in unique flavors from small businesses that apparently struggled to sell their product to the big boxes. By all means, if you like to hunt through the many clothing racks for deals and special finds go for it because you'll find them, but take a look at the home goods section too and you might find something you never knew you really wanted! read more

Words cannot describe how I hated going here with my mom as a child. She would drag me here and to Marshall's and would spend HOURS shopping. Something for her, something for me, something for dad, something for my siblings.....god forbid anyone feel left out of the TJ Maxx experience! When I became an adult I finally understood the appeal! And yes, my mom reminded me of it until she passed away " you used to complain all the time about going here when you were a kid.... Etc, etc, etc. Now that I am an adult I can spend hours in this store. My favorite part is the aisles in the back. They have a little bit of EVERYTHING here! I went in just to buy a purse and left with two pairs of shoes, a cat bowl, and a magnifying glass ( I said a little of everything). I can never seem to leave here with just the item I come in for because they have really great stuff at reasonable prices! I love this place! read more

The Kirkwood location seems to have been downgraded somewhat in the past few months. If you are looking for the mother load of shoes or the higher end clothing items and purses, I would head to the Des Peres location. However, there are still great kids clothes, toys, and housewares at this location. The fact that its about a mile from my house will always keep me coming back! read more

I am taking the time to update my review because a handful of recent experiences warranted a one star review. I returned a few items (full-disclosure: I am a habitual receipt-loser, that being said, I never fuss or complain and I only expect the typical store credit that is appropriate for such a return. I make a point of being pretty easy to please because I know that 9/10 people are generally rude to customer service reps, and so I make a point to go out of my way to be as nice as humanly possible). Having made minimal returns to this store, I couldn't really remember if there was a specific place to take them. I've been to other TJ Maxx's where returns are done at the very end of the line of registers, so that's where I went. I stood behind another woman who appeared to be returning something. The registers were empty and nobody else was around, and so I just figured this was where returns happened. After almost ten minutes of standing behind her, the staff member (the bald guy who I mentioned in my previous review) finally acknowledged my existence by literally screaming at me and asked what I wanted. I said "I just want to return these". He said "IT'S THE SAME LINE AS EVERYTHING ELSE!" and pointed to the winding line leading up to the registers. With this he let out an extremely exasperated sigh and went back to belittling to the woman returning things ahead of me. Had he told me this, maybe, NOT ten minutes into standing there, it wouldn't have been a big deal-- but by this time, the line was about twenty people long. It wasn't that he was terribly involved with the person he was helping or that he didn't see me, he was just busy being a melodramatic self-involved prick, and I guess he assumed I'd just "go away". My mistake. When I got through the line another 15 minutes later, I could tell the woman working the register where I had landed was less than thrilled to be there (or alive? WHO KNOWS.) My returns were about $80 worth of kitchen items that were too large for my 1950's cabinets. The woman at the register was beyond rude-- and I know everyone has a bad day or doesn't feel like talking to people, but this woman must have been strangling me or stabbing me to death inside her head, because the bad vibes were palpable. I asked her how her day was, trying to be cheery, and she said "I'm leaving soon." My response at that point was "Good" followed by "because you're ruining this day that was supposed to be fun" (that part was in my head). After that? I walked around the store. Didn't see anything I wanted. Was no longer in a happy shopping mood. Then I left. NBD, right? Fast forward to yesterday, which was about three months after this last negative visit. I talked my husband into coming with me to get some curtains. We get to the register and I pull out my Tj Maxx card that had been full of the money from my returns from the last visit-- An anticipated $80-ish to spend. Guess how much was on that card? FIVE FREAKING DOLLARS. I thought maybe it was the semi-conscious woman that took 30 minutes to ring up our purchases making a mistake, but nope-- I just got screwed twice in a row. I was so pissed off that I almost turned right around and returned all of the $180 worth of crap we just bought. Someone might be thinking "Well it's your fault for not keeping the receipt for the total on your gift card from the previous returns!" If you're that person, please go ahead and choke on your own omniscient bs! Sure, I'm an idiot for not keeping a piece of paper from three months ago that recognized that I had a lot of money on my gift card. Know what? I shouldn't have to! If I kept a receipt from every transaction I made, my house would look like a hoarder lived here instead of the insanely fashionable and interior-design-savvy chick that I am, alright? Give me a break. I didn't bother worrying about receipts from previous Tj Maxx purchases because I secretly liked having the incentive of in-store credit enticing me to come back and spend more money there on stuff that I probably didn't need. That's how capitalism works, okay?! Don't judge me. I don't understand what is happening with this store. Are you purposely hiring incompetent, angry, psychotic, racist people? I would have killed to work at TJ Maxx when I was in high school or even early college. Who doesn't like TJ Maxx!? Every good business knows, your staff are the ambassadors of your business. They are the branches coming off the tree, allowing that tree to reach further and do more. When your staff are HABITUALLY rude, incompetent, lazy, or outright STEAL ($75!?!?) from customers, you are asking for someone to come and cut down that tree. I have no idea what is going on with this store or what the plan is here, but if you're looking to go out of business, keep up the good work. I'm not happy to have to say that my family will be taking our hard-earned money elsewhere. read more

I'm a Maxxinista. So, when my 'rents decided to take me here after lunch I couldn't say no. It's pretty much your standard TJ Maxx experience. My goto places at TJ's are the active wear section, jewelry counter, shoes, and the beauty section. This TJ's did not disappoint me. The jewelry counter was loaded with Juicy Couture and Lucky. Unfortunately, there was nobody at the jewelry counter to show you anything if the bracelet of your dreams just so happened to be trapped in one of the locked counters. The active wear section did not disappoint either. I picked up a very cute pair of Marika skirted leggings. I've already worn them about four time and have only owned them about two weeks. I also tried on a pair of coveted Body Language leggings but they were see-through when I did the ol' downward dog test. Oi! So, I passed on those. The checkout line was mega long but I would probably return here if I was given a chance. read more
