I love Refresh (5/5 specifically for their dresses). It's a beautiful secondhand clothing shop in Brentwood with a great cause!! (Proceeds go to St. Louis's foster care coalition--their HQ is also in this same building). They have a selection of normal clothes -- women's and men's -- on the bottom floor, along with shoes and accessories (earrings and jewelry). But what really stands out is their cute formal dress section on the second level! Perfect for prom, wedding guest, bridesmaid etc. They have floor length dresses for $35 and shorter dresses for $25. They even have a few floor length wedding gowns for brides for $100!! (Plus a section for mother of the bride dresses). I've gotten 2 formal dresses here so far with lots of compliments (wore one on a beachy vacation and another as a destination wedding guest)!! I visited again this week as I thought I'd look for a wedding dress here since they have super affordable options. I didn't end up finding a dress in my size since they only have a few but it was still really impressive they had some in stock at all! And at this price point. There were some beautiful dresses in smaller sizes as well with big princess-like ballgown-style trains. They also accept donations. You can either get a tax receipt or a $5 off coupon! The staff there have also been very friendly every time I've gone!! They have the store decorated currently for their prom season--girls who are in foster care who are accepted into their program get to shop for a prom dress for free! So cool! read more

**May 2025: Monday Afternoon Visit** My friend and I wanted to check out the thrift scene in St. Louis, but unfortunately a lot of the charity shops were closed on Memorial Day. I called ahead to see if Refresh had different hours and fortunately, they were open! There's a parking lot behind the building and when I stepped in I was really impressed by how nicely arranged everything was. It definitely gave off boutique vibes and there's a dressing room on the top floor along with many aisles of formal/prom/wedding dresses. The price point for the casual day-to-day items were a little higher than that of a Salvation Army/Goodwill, but everything was steamed and in really good condition, plus all the proceeds are given to St. Louis's Foster Care Coalition (and no tax). The men's section was pretty small, but the women's was really stacked. When I went to the 3rd floor to check out the formal wear it was like a kid in a candy shop. They arranged the formal dresses by size and there were some really incredible finds there. Unlike downstair where everything is priced individually I believe all short dresses were $25 and the long ones were $35, and my guess is that these dresses are left over from their Cinderella project (gifting girls a fairytale prom experience without worrying about money). I think I spent almost 2 hours in the shop and I still didn't get to try everything one, but I was happy with my purchases. One thing to note in the future - I will wear proper spanx/strapless bra to improve my formal dress shopping experience. Otherwise, this charity shop is a fantastic place to support a great mission and treat yourself! It's a win-win! read more

A group from Boeing STL volunteered for 3 hours to assist in prepping for their Cinderella Project. We sorted, priced and pulled more formal gowns out to be selected by high school juniors and seniors for their schools prom. The Cinderella Project is from March 1 - 9, 2024 and the girls get a fairy Godmother to assist in their dress selection, along with alterations done on site. The girls also get shoes, jewelry and a handbag. There are thousands of dresses to choose from. The Cinderella Project is for foster care girls and their families along with homeless girls that are attending school. It was a great experience. The refresh clothing store also has bridal gowns, mother of the bride dresses for sale. There are men's clothes as well as a larger selection of ladies clothes. There were several ladies that came in to shop while we were there. I will be going back to donate dresses and shop. read more

If you want to score some amazing deals, and stand out...hit Refresh soon. Refresh is also command central for the Cinderella Project. This program feels every high school girl deserves to be a Princess on her Prom Day. Girls accepted into the program get to come to Refresh and have a personal shopper help find the dress of their dreams. The top floor is filled with hundreds of formal dresses, runway lights, fitting rooms, and even a small stage. Children in The Adoptive and Foster Care Coalition Family also get to shop at a deep discount for clothing at Refresh. You may see a Foster Child picking out school clothes or trying on shoes while you shop. Talk to the volunteers and staff on-site. They will be happy to show you around. If you are looking for a place to donate clothing, Refresh should get consideration. They accept men's, women's, and children's clothing, shoes, and accessories and will give you a tax receipt. Love this second hand boutique and its mission. You can find everything here prom dress, wedding dress, running shoes, jewelry at awesome prices. Staff is always friendly. They carry a good range of sizes as well. Store is well organized with designer items to the right side of the store as you enter the door. Men's items are on the left. Women's pants and dresses are under the stairs. Formal and wedding dresses are upstairs. One thing I would recommend is to add another 1 or 2 dressing rooms, can get a little crowded on the weekends. Overall a wonderful place and so glad to have them in St. Louis! read more

We've been to this thrift store many times. Pros: Conveniently located across from Whole Foods in Brentwood with a parking lot on the roof (ramp leading up to it is on the left side of the building). Proceeds go toward foster kids and their families, so gotta love that! And their sales are unbelievably good, most recently was a $1 sidewalk sale where they had tops, dresses, and shorts for $1. Cons: I would probably never come here if it weren't for their sales. Their items are waaaaaaaaaaay overpriced ($12 for a used Nike tee shirt? LOL no), and many of their dresses that are pretty meh brands run 16-24 dollars. This is all in their "non-designer" section, I don't even go into their designer section because I can rifle through clothes at other stores and pay pennies for the same items. I've also noticed a decrease in item quality and they are selling way too many things that are stained or pilled. All in all, their prices are way too high BUT they do beat out all other thrift stores with their awesome sales. You can find some food stuff here, and it's nice to give to a good cause. read more

I happen upon this resale boutique during their 1989 sale. This was the deal: purchase $60 worth of items and pay $19.89. The lady who greeted us as we entered the shop was very friendly and she explained to us that the store is ran by a nonprofit organization and its proceeds go toward helping the Foster and Adoptive Coalition in St. Louis. I've read about this shop and all the work they do for children in foster care and I think it is such an admirable thing. I did find several things and they were still in great condition, they didn't smell, and they were clean. My mom bought a pair of shorts with the store tag still on! It was of course, not included in their 1989 sale because it was a name brand item but she found a Nine West purse in wonderful condition. While browsing, I saw a Juicy Couture hoodie but it was too big. There were several J Crew shirts, Ralph Lauren polos, Bebe items, Lily Pulitzer shorts, aside from the random mall brands. The upstairs had prom dresses so I went up and down fairly quickly since I have absolutely no need for such dresses. I did find 3 cute dresses and a work blouse and all for only $21 or so. I reeeeaally wanted to love this place, but rather, I just love the concept and only like the store. It's very much a stylish boutique type of resale store. Their clothes are in great condition (I didn't feel slightly icky trying things on like I do at certain other thrift shops which shall remain unnamed). Everything is organized well. When I went, all the women's clothes were downstairs and the men's and children's clothes were upstairs. I saw some men's suit jackets upstairs, as well as one rack of women's blouses and another two racks of women's slacks and work pants. While that sounds like a pretty extensive spread of clothing, it was rather small compared to what I had hoped. It really does channel the boutique vibe as far as them having a smaller selection (probably because they're picky with the quality of clothes they put out on the floor). As far as price goes, they're more in line with what an item was actually worth vs. regular thrift shops where everything goes for the same price. I did encounter a whole entire rack of summer clothes on sale for $1 each, but nothing that I really liked (not even for $1). With that said, the concept is awesome and I fully support them in their mission to help kids in foster care. Love love love that. In summary, most of the selection is higher quality here, which is reflected in the prices. It goes toward a worthy cause, so check them out! read more

I got four decent things for like $27 and if I lived in STL, I would definitely make this a regular stop on my thrift shop rotation. I was in the Whole Foods parking lot across the street with my mom when this little shop caught our eye and we scooted over to check it out. It was 5:45, and the store closed at 6pm. The woman at the register was really welcoming and encouraged us to take our time looking. I found a Lacoste top for $8 and a Marc by Marc Jacobs dress for $24. PLUS everything was 30% off for Father's Day weekend!! They had a pretty decent selection of brands and types of clothing. Everything looked in really great condition and not "worn". When we checked out, the woman (I am assuming she was the owner?) told us about how the shop was supporting the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition, which has offices above the shop. They just started being open all week apparently. She asked us to spread the word and that they also accept donations. I will definitely return when I have more time to look around! read more

Low expectations always seem to yield magnificent finds. I couldn't have been happier with the unbelievably friendly service, not the overly enthusiastic American Eagle friendly, no, I'm talking about the cool, laid back friend that lets you borrow some clothes from their closet. The deal was a steal, and I left with 5 perfect pairs of pants for 25 dollars. Good music, CLEAN, and a great location to boot! Suffice to say I signed up for the emails. read more

Cool, modern atmosphere... but still, buying someone elses clothes is weird to me.

I've been here a few times for an inexpensive dress for school and youth group dances and events. They have a super large selection of formal dresses upstairs, and I found a lot of good options under $25. The staff are also super nice; the women who've helped me were exceptionally nice. Their everyday clothing is a bit more pricey than a traditional thrift store, but nothing outrageous. Once more, though, great place to get a dress for homecoming or other similar events if you're on a budget! read more

I really love what this store represents and for that you get an extra star. But the clothing selection is not good. Just mostly basics or things that are no longer in style. I found one skirt that I kind of liked but it was super overpriced. I'm sorry I won't be returning but I do hope others will support the store. read more

I love thrift shops and have seen some nice stuff in the windows of Refresh. I would really like to say this is a great place with nice clothing, but, we've been in there several times and have to say, I've seen better at Goodwill. The volunteers are great, very friendly. The proceeds do go for a great cause. Ratty looking jeans for $10-$18 is not reasonable, $11 for a stretched out sweater that can be purchased at Ross's brand new for less is not a bargain. The huge summer sale was extremely disappointing. There were daisy duke shorts that looked like they had been worn and tossed into the dirty clothes pile, tops that belonged in a recycle bin, and shoes that were filthy. I would love to like this place because it helps a great cause, but I can't see wasting anymore time going back. read more
