We visited on a fall day. The visitor center was closed but they had bathrooms at the main entrance. They had a lot of great maps of Dillon and other state parks in the area. We drove back to the lake and walked some of the trails and then down by the water. The water level was really low so we were able to explore areas that are normally covered in water. This looks like a great family park with a swim beach, basketball courts, story book stroll, play areas and campgrounds. read more

Dillon State Park is one of the quieter state parks in Ohio. It has the most activity in the summer. That's when the beach next to the lake gets tourists. It's overall better than average. There's also cabins you can rent. I like state lodges and parks in general. If you come here don't expect anything fancy or modern. The lake is the best thing. It's popular in the summer as a swimming area. The other feature about this park are the cabins for rent. I would like to stay in a cabin at Dillon State Park. It looks like the prices are pretty good. The lake is my favorite thing. read more

Growing up a teenager in Zanesville, my friends and I were often eager to get out and explore. Dillon State Park was an easy drive, not too far away, and offered plenty of adventure. My favorite is parking near the beach and walking the surrounding trails. I've never really been into getting in the water, but you never know what you may run into exploring the trails. A good portion of it is very easy to walk, you'll often see folks out there with their dogs and/or kiddos. However, you can easily veer off the obvious paths and make your own way. Just don't be silly and get lost! If you're on your own, the playground and basketball courts might not be your thing, but it's nice to know that they are there. This park is great for a family picnic, to get some exercise, to bust out some jet skis, or if you're like me, enjoy some peace and quiet in nature. Why the four stars instead of five? Honestly, I wouldn't deem it the cleanest area ever. I've heard the water is pretty cruddy and sometimes (not often but it's happened) I don't feel the safest when I'm on my own. Overall, it's nice to have a spot like this so close to the city. read more

I always love this park. So beautiful and a nice place to go for a walk in Zanesville. There are lots of different trails to find, the lake is nice, though I wouldn't personally swim in it, it is full of life and a great natural ecosystem. I'm not necessarily a fan of the storybook trail because I don't have any children, but my sister loves it for her kids. read more

We just finished a 3 night camping trip here and it was awesome. The campsites are very spacious. Not a lot of them offer shade, so you have to get online and look carefully and I recommend using google earth to look. We had a very spacious and partly shaded site. The place is clean and quiet. They offer several playgrounds, a kids wading pool, a very large lake and beach. Basketball, tennis, frisbee golf, beach volleyball, mountain biking. I took advantage of the mountain bike trails and they are well maintained and kept up. This is probably one of our new favorite camping places to go. There is plenty to do in Zanesville if you want to go out on the town. The shower house in the loop we were in could use some updating but other than that we were very happy with our stay at Dillon. YOu can check out Dillon Dam which is pretty cool as well. read more

Stayed here overnight at a dead time of year for a quick get away in one of the cabins. Compared to other places we have vacationed this was a good deal for us. It rained so our options were limited but we enjoyed one of the shorter hiking trails as well as the fire pit. Like others have said the beds are the only bad part. Our cabin had a queen bed and a bunk bed in another bedroom with a roll away cot. The queen bed in cabin #7 was hard and it sagged in the middle. I would still come back again though. read more

We wanted to rent a cabin and one was available. I was happy to see such a cozy little cabin nestled in the woods with everything we needed for the weekend. The cabins are heated with plenty of sleeping areas. Our cabin had 1 queen bed, 2 twin, and a cot. The beds were my only complaint. They were very hard. They could use an update for the price they charge. The kitchen has a toaster, can opener, coffeepot (with filters) a mixer, bowls, full set is dishes, all utensils, pots and pans, even a cupcake pan. We enjoyed cable tv, a screened in back porch, a grill with picnic table, and a front porch. The place was clean. We will defiantly return again. Out family enjoyed our visit! read more

I had a bad experience here with someone in the bathroom. They decided to cuss me out and open the door on me when I was changing in the bathroom. As I was changing she flung the door open and would not let me use the bathroom as I was saying let me pee. This girl would not let me pee. She kept the door opened and said if I really need to pee then I could just do it with the door opened. She followed up with I'm fat and that I don't deserve privacy. It was my first time there and I did not know that there where actual changing rooms and I also had to pee so that is why I used the bathroom. This girl was also giving me death threats and she made me cry. I tried to tell a park ranger and they did not believe me that it happened and they said that since they did not hear or see it happened that they could not do anything about it. But I did have a fun day here with family and friends. read more

I stay here once a year in early fall. The staff is always very nice. It's pretty quiet most of the time. It can get loud when tailgaters show up and a dog barked all night on a recent stay. Apparently, smoking is allowed. I ran into quite a few in the common areas and at the campsites. Locals use the laundry facilities and that can be tedious. Disc golf is the main draw for me. read more

This park is a great spot for camping or staying in one of the cabins over the weekend. There is plenty to do including going to the beach for a swim, going to the archery range, playing a round of frisbee golf, walking the many trails, or bird watching. read more

Nice place to camp! Sites are above average size so you are not on top of your neighbors. We camped over Labor Day weekend and had a blast! A few of us bought the discs for frisbee-disc golf and had a blast! We are hooked now. I see us coming back here a lot in the upcoming years to play this addicting game while camping. Remember the lake is also the Licking River which after a good rain can muddy up quickly if you are planning on fishing. Below the dam has been a favorite fishing spot for most anglers. They have tennis courts, basketball courts and beach volleyball courts all which are lighted. This is our 3rd time here camping here and like it more each time we camp here. If they add a few full service site in the future as rumored it will be awesome. We will be back, very soon. read more

We went there A couple days ago, and I was already not liking the feel of the beach floor.There is so many directions as if you could barely do anything. So I come home saying "oh yeah! I had the best time!" Next morning I wake up with a infection called Swimmers ear. Look it up. I don't know how many Ibuprofen pills I took. But it helped me. We stayed at cabin 3. The cabin was beautiful, well maintained and spotless. Newly remodeled with beautiful tile throughout. Huge refrigerator, nice kitchen well stocked with cooking necessities. Recently stayed here for 4 nights. Grew up in the area as a kid, its had to see the beach become such a deserted area. Mostly locals go to the beach to play basketball. The beach had 1 family on it swimming. The entire rest of the beach was a ghost town. We played tennis and were the only ones there 2 days on the courts. Several playing basketball though. I remember when the place was packed. No so much anymore. The campground is nice, well kept and the bathrooms and bath houses are nice enough for a state facility. Folks do need to keep the pets in line, who wants to hear dogs barking half the night, get so tired of hearing damn dogs bark at these state campsites. read more

Went to the lake to swim like everyone else does (known attraction). FIRST time here and forsure the last. Poop ALL over the shore. WATER STUNK . Was super green and when I got out , fuzzy Alger all over me. Disgusting. Never again. Not recommended. read more
