Like the name of the park suggests, this is a very sensory-friendly park, and there are nature stations set up all around where you can use your senses to explore. There is also a short, paved trail that goes around the park, which is wide and smooth enough for strollers and wheelchairs. The trail goes by a creek, which is nice. As of right now, this is the only sensory-friendly park in the state of Ohio! It's definitely worth a visit.

Along the path are a variety of interactive stations that are also designed to be accessible. If you start near the entry sign, you'll find a Little Free Library, which, on our recent visit, was loaded with a lot of great kids options. Just ahead is a variety of benches and a little music garden, featuring musical instruments that can be played, and you can also interact with the Rough Bark Tactile Display to learn more about different tree barks. A little further down are the cutest animal looking instruments that can also be used. As you continue down the path, you find a swingset with a variety of swings that include both traditional and accessible options. There's a nice little shaded bench area with information about the creek, Fetter's Run, that can be seen from the location. As you proceed along, a very exciting find is the Treehouse, which is built within the forest trees as opposed to up in one, which allows a wheelchair ramp to make it accessible. This overlooks the creek and has things to explore, like neat nature art and a second floor (not accessible) with a fire pole. At the end of the path is a shelter house with picnic tables and nearby grills. Most, if not all, of the signage included Braille translations, as well. There is a large parking lot here, but I do note that this is located behind a school, so I'm not sure how that would affect parking for a visit during a school day.

While there is a good paved parking lot available, this park is also accessible via the bike trail. Restrooms on timers set to be open from sunrise to sunset are available onsite as well.

So I parked and walked around a not-super-pedestrian-friendly part of the park and I wasn't impressed. But it's because I'm dumb and parked at the wrong parking lot! When I finally found out where regular people without boats should park, I had a grand time. The regular parking lot is at the entrance of a walking/biking path that winds it's way around Buckeye Lake. I suppose I could tell you how long the walking path is if I looked it up, but I'm not going to, so I'll just tell you that I walked for about 30 minutes in one direction and had to turn back and I hadn't reached the end. It's a long path. Along the way, you'll see cutely decorated houses, birds, turtles and the beautiful lake. It's a peaceful walk, and the path is wide and nicely paved, so it's big enough for everyone. There isn't a whole lot to do here if you don't have a boat. You can walk on the path, and sit on the benches that are located every so often along the path. There's a dive bar/restaurant located not too far from the boat dock. There are also a few signs and statues near the boat side of the park. Mostly, this park is here for you to just walk or sit and enjoy it.

On the far end is a playground, with a very nice large shelterhouse with picnic tables. The playground is a lot of wood, metal, and climbing nets, and has sections for ages 2-5 and 5-12. By far the biggest draw appeared to be the very tall, fast slide, accessible via climbing net. There are benches available, and play shades available in one section. A nice sized parking lot is available too.

Basically, all of those rides and slides that would burn your legs in the summer are here and still providing kids with hours of fun at Kachelmacher. There's the metal twisty slide, the long metal straight slide, the metal character riders, the metal monkey bars, the metal straight bars to do your flips, the metal geodesic dome -- all the metal. We visited on a mild spring day, so the metal equipment wasn't a problem, but I imagine that in the summer, the equipment will get hot. Just be aware of that. There are also more modern things, like swings, a play firetruck, a teeter totter, a wooden fort and a plastic play area for younger children. There are also lots of picnic tables at which to sit, as well as a shaded and covered area with picnic tables for a party, and a fireplace hearth. (It wasn't lit when we were there, so I'm not sure if it is working or if you're allowed to light it.) There were no restrooms that I could see, so plan accordingly.

This is a new park attached to Westchester Golf Course (apparently; however, I haven't seen any…read moreholes...), just off a few new housing developments. I especially love all the shaded areas that are provided; even the jungle gym is cover with a nice canvas awning. I'm sure this is a happening place in the evenings, when parents get home from work and are able to walk over with their kids and let them exert some energy. I good addition to Canal Winchester!

This is a beautiful park, with a lot to look at both nature and history-wise. It was recommended to…read moreus by a friendly naturalist at Wahkeena, so we decided to check it out! They have moved quite a few historic features to the property, including the nearly 60' high Stover windmill and the Cruit house built in 1829, and they are maintaining fields near these structures. Everything looked quite green and happily growing at this time of year. There is a small pond with frogs and the like located near the parking lot, as well as a very nice large playground with tons of things to climb on, slide down, and more. There is a 2 mile loop for hiking, which is created by combining the Paw Paw trail (trailhead located near the Cruit house) and the Walnut Creek trail, which you encounter at a junction in the woods. The trails take you through the forest, up and down ravines, along the Little Walnut Creek, and through a meadow. We came upon a mother deer and her fawn when approaching the meadow from the forest, which was a very neat sight! Also available here are an open-air picnic shelter with tables and grills, which is back near the portion of the Paw Paw Trail where it enters the woods, as well as port-a-potties near the playground. There is a nice paved parking lot available.
