I was referred to this clinic through the Navy. Upon arrival, I was underwelmed. The waiting room is tiny and bland. They had a TV in there playing the same dermatology video on a loop every 7 or so minutes. I went to the window to check in 30 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment. I stood there and waited for the office assistant to help me to no avail. Finally, another lady walked up to the window and asked if I was a new patient. I was given an iPad device to check in and took my seat. To this point, I'm only disappointed with my first impression at the front desk. Now, here's where I start getting upset. I waited 58 minutes before getting called back (28 minutes past my appointment time). Then I waited 10 more minutes once I was in an examination room. When the doctor finally arrived, he spent 5 minutes with me. Despite the short examination, I must say the doctor was great. He was friendly and had a great sense of humor/bedside manner. Cons: This office is in poor shape. Damage to the walls, dirty furniture and overflowing trash in exam room. Long wait times. Pros: Doctor was nice. read more

My 16 yr old went here. They tried to pop her pimples with a gloved hand on her face and didn't pop one. Then they got out a black light, ( looked like something we decorated our rooms with in the 90's ) plugged it in by her, and then moves it in front of her face for a minute, I think, could have been 3. ( They had a sad kitchen timer to let them know when time was up.) Then they prescribed her like 5 different things, all harsh on her skin. Then bill came in, that was the funniest part. Charged me about $240 for her facial ( trying to pop pimples on her face) and around $240 for her ( can't remember what they called this one, but I think it was like a chemical treatment ( the black lights from the 90's, swiped in front of her face for 1-3 minutes ). Janice could careless about my issues. She didnt read the chart to know the history or current issues. I went in for my under arm condition and also a scar from a port I had in. After use had to explain to her that what she was telling me I got treated for was wrong she then says that she don't feel anything. ​ She's telling me she doesn't even feel all the bumps under my arm. Honestly she didn't want to touch me. The nurse came in and found the spots in seconds. Then she came back in and said oh I feel someth8ng but it's very superficial. It is not.. They are very deep bumps that are embedded in my arm sockets. So that day I received the shots. Today she comes in with the same I don't give damn attitude, so I left. You're not going reat me if you can careless about me. Now mind you this is not my 1st time here. My 1st experience was great. The care team did an amazing job at treating the condition on my back. I'm not going to say don't go here. But I will say my experience second experience with Janice solidified my decision in not coming back!!! read more

Went for 2 months. My son's skin did not improve one bit. Rude and charged uninsured prices, even though we have insurance. Don't give receipts with any usable information. When I went to another dermatologist, my son's skin was 90% better in one day. This place is a scam! Stay away. read more

Let me just say this , Dr Dimitri is phenomenal, Ashley was amazing but is now gone !!! Ms Tina's Organization and Un- professionalism is the cause of this review !!! I called for weeks about the same issue . Ms. Tina is very rude in the prior authorization department, Sabrina was very pleasant on the other hand . Ms Tina lied and stated a prior authorization for an increase on my medication was never documented. She lied and said Dr Dimitri never put in a request to my insurance. She did not research my account or read any notes on my account and basically blamed me for "not having anything documented". I was confused and baffled because Ive been calling about my medication for the past two weeks and Nurse Sherry , and Ms Sabrina informed me that my increase was approved . Tina insinuated that what I was saying was not true . The next day I received a call from Walgreens stating my new prescription was sent in . Moral of the story : Tina lied and Dr Dimitri did in-fact , reach out to my insurance. If there was an option for no stars that's what I would have chosen. This place is off the chain bad. DO NOT GO. They have the rudest most uncaring staff. The one good provider just went on maternity leave. I went to pickup my meds as usual first I was told the appointment was at the other end. Then they told me the provider was gone for day despite my appointment. They send in another person who had absolutely no clue what she was doing. I left without meds. This is not the 1st time there was an issue with my meds. One time it was missing a pen. I'll never go here again. I was extremely desperate and really looking forward to seeing a good dermatologist. The doctor came into the room and didn't even diagnose my skin. After talking to me I removed my mask for him to see even though he never asked. He had already told me exactly what I needed prior to even seeing my skin! Rushed through education and sent his nurse in. She did a peel without even cleaning my face! Then told me to wash it off with paper towels at the sink! Insane! Let me begin by say that I absolutely love Dr. Henderson. She is everything you could want from a doctor: caring, understanding, and compassionate. Unfortunately, I moved and had to find another dermatologist. My current dermatologist is trying to gain access to my medical records so that I can continue with my medication, but apparently Dimitri Dermatology's policy is to charge the patient AND new dermatologist a FEE for those copies of my medical records. This is the first time that my dermatologist or I have ever encountered this (and I've been to multiple dermatology offices). If I could rate this place a ZERO, I would. I went to the facility in Gretna a couple of times and after my experience about 5 years ago, I will never return. Tonight I was looking at the permanent damage to my skin that one of their doctors caused and I realized I will be upset for the rest of my life. I hope every additional 1 star review puts another nail in the coffin of this sorry excuse for a medical facility. Do not go here. I wouldn't trust a single doctor under the umbrella of Dimitri Dermatology. I used to have excellent insurance and I have seen very capable dermatologists in the past. My circumstances changed and I went here to the dermatologist that Medicaid assigned. Dr. Joel Perdomo just burned off 2 of my moles - I explicitly stated that one had been confirmed as benign already and he insisted on removing it anyway. I have had moles removed before and the way he did it was absolutely the laziest and most careless way I can imagine. He literally just burned them off with some kind of cauterizing tool - I was absolutely shocked after the procedure and I am left with two scars where I once had unmarred skin before. One is on my neck and one on my shoulder - they are both visible most of the time. If he had actually removed them properly - by freezing them off - I would have minimal scarring and instead I'm left with permanent reminders of how this doctor didn't care about me as a patient at all. I hope this place gets shut down. The treatment rooms and the bathroom were all dirty. The staff was rude and unhelpful. I wish I had never let that doctor touch me. read more

I took my daughter to this office for her skin treatments. They billed me treatments which were NOT given that day. I called in many times to request to see the papers with my signature of if my daughter received those treatments, but although they promised they would send those papers to me, I never received ANY of them. 1. Percription written incorrectly and sent to the wrong pharmacy. Walgreens called me to let me know their complaints concerning the situation. 2. Another dermalogist (consulted for secod opinion) commented on the inability to reach this clinic and could not believe the withholding of medical information. 3. Another physician tried for five days to speak to the medical staff without success. 4. This clinic did not call to stop medications that were not warrented based on lab results. 5. I would NOT suggest anyone go here! I made my son (14 y/old) an appointment b/c his face is severely red (Rosacea) and he had a mole on his back that expanded w/in a few months. The waiting room didn't look bad, but the office staff was not punctual. When someone came to speak to me she handed me a dysfunctional iPad to enter all of our info. It took me forever to fill everything out! I hadn't even finished when they finally called us to a FILTHY examination room! I was nervous for my 2yr/old to touch anything. The nurse practitioner (I'm guessing b/c she told us her name, but no explanation of who she was) diagnosed my son w/Rosacea, then looked at the mole and left the room. She came back w/some instruments (in sterile packaging, THANK GOD!) and told my son to lay on his stomach. I had to ask what she was doing! She then explained she was going to remove the mole and send it off for testing. She gave us some prescriptions for the Rosacea (that did not work) and some cream for the mole site. I NEVER received a follow-up about the mole. I had to call and ask myself. The lady that answered the phone was rude to begin with and told me I would have to make a new appt to discuss the results. I questioned why I shld have to make an appt just to find out if we shld be concerned or not! She said "well...if u haven't heard anything then IT'S FINE!" My wife went here to get moles checked on. The doctor said that 3 of them should be removed. She has had moles removed before so we kind of knew what to expect. Ever since that day she got them removed it has been hell. The doctor did quite the hack job. We didn't know any better and it wasn't till after she saw another dermatologist that we knew the quality of the doctor's surgical precision at this establishment was subpar. read more

Went there twice for my mom's psoriasis, no doctors present, all nurse practitioners, who didnt even review med chart before seeing a patient, i had to tell everything about last visit, she kept prescribing meds that made my mom flare up more, technicians are lazy, they gave mom treatment which basically is oil and fluorescent light for 2 seconds. Here we go; This location is two minutes away from my house but I drive 30 minutes away to the other location because their services are better. I went here on my first visit seeking skin tag removal. I received what I asked for, but I also received an unwanted gift. I now have scars on my neck as if I was attacked my a cat. The MA who treated me said she's been employed there for 3 months, of course I should have known better, but what can you do when your insurance only pays for a specific doctor? I am so embarrassed to make eye contact with anyone. The nurse practitioner gave me a cream for the scars. I noticed it did not do any justice. I inquired about another service which led me to the other location. There I told Elizabeth what happened and immediately she prescribed me a lightning cream for the scars. I informed her about the acne and she also gave me samples and suggestions for MY skin tone. I did not receive this type of treatment at the location above. 6-15-17 was my second time visiting the location in Kenner. On the second visit I informed her about another problem and she jumped on it right away. I have not had any issues from the location in Kenner so far, therefor I would recommend that dermatology location to anyone as long as they are willing to drive the distance. I was referred by my PCP to Dimitri Dermatology at the Harvey, LA location. I was very impressed with the doctor, staff and the office. Everyone was very friendly and I was in an out within an hour. I received a chemical peel and had 3 moles removed. I was able to get it all done in one visit. Dr. Janice Berkoff was amazing and very quick, yet knowledgeable. I will be going back every 2 weeks for my chemical peel as I am very pleased with this office. I highly recommend this place to anyone who needs a great dermatologist and on a time frame (since they are so quick). My second visit, I was still pleased with the services. I can't believe the other reviews I've read. Either some people had bad experiences (for what ever reason) or they totally stepped up their game. read more

I made an appointment with Dimitri Dermatology as their website made them appear to be very professional and a reputable establishment. Upon arriving I could not believe how much of a dump this office was. The waiting room was filthy, the chairs were stained and it had a moldy smell. I figured I was already there so might as well see this visit through. After paying my specialist copayment I discovered the doctor was out that day so I just paid a specialist copay to see a nurse. In my opinion, if I'm paying a specialist copay I want the doctor not the nurse. The nurse was friendly, but it seemed they wanted to schedule me for a number of elective services I did not need or want. Needless to say, I will never return. read more

I was under the assumption that doctors diagnosed a condition once they did the research... OH WAIT... THATS NOT RIGHT. Doctors don't research anymore, I forgot... I have probably been to Dimitri Dermatology in Kenner about 6 times, every time I call, they say... are you new cause I can't find your information. Then I tell them again my information and oh there I am, NOT NEW! Now at the appointment: Walked into kenner location, the lady doesn't say hello or any of the other 5 people standing there do. Why be nice... NO one taught me how to be nice. Its COMMON SENSE! I asked the lady if she remembered me from the last 6 times, joking I said, you can't remember my birthday. She didn't even acknowledge I said anything or didnt even she smile. They must be miserable. WOW. but I keep trying! Anyway, I have seen Megan and Linda, both nurse practioners, got the run around. They keep ordering blood test, the same one twice, took 4 weeks to get back to them. I saw Megan the second time, she didn't even look at my chart, walks in and says what can I do for you? I said, I did my blood work, is it back yet? She said OH Yeah, I have to go look at it. CAme back in the room and says there is nothing wrong with you. I can't help you. haha. This was after she saw it clearly on my skin. I got pretty upset, she says well nothing is on the test, what do you want me to do? I said look at my skin, get more than 20 feet from me, how can you be a dermatologist without looking at my skin!!!!! So i didn't see her again. I made an appointment with Linda. she ordered more test... end of story. Then....today I was seeing Clay. He walks in, crosses his arms (which is a sign for being uncomfortable or I just dont give a crap). He said tell me what is going on. I said its a long story, I would rather shorten it. He said NO, tell me the whole thing.. so I start, trying to go as fast as I can because this problem I am having has ruined my life, cost me $$$$$ thousands, and I am now fainting and having sweats that make me want to puke. While I am telling Clay the story, it wasn't even about a minute since he entered the room, he all the sudden says STOP! TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG, i DONT WANT THE WHOLE STORY, I said sir, I would really appreciate that you don't talk to me like that, he says I DONT CARE WHO YOU ARE, TELL ME THE STORY OR I AM LEAVING. Janice Birkhoff is the rudest medical "professional" that I have ever dealt with. Her condescending nature makes the whole appointment uncomfortable--by whole appointment I mean the one or two minutes she actually talks to me for. After every appointment, her notes say that she spoke with me for more than 20 minutes. She has the same, set treatment plan for every patient that comes in with acne, so when I tried to ask about other options, she shut me down and made me feel like I don't know what I'm talking about. I have a pretty solid education in the sciences and currently pursing a doctorate in the health field...so I like to think that I can read and understand research about different acne treatments and suggest what I believe would be best for my skin. I know that she may have more experience than I do with acne, but if she thinks that something won't work for me, she can explain why in a professional, non-condescending way. I saw her about five times in a 3 month period, and every time it's the same attitude. Please don't go here...well at least avoid Janice Birkhoff like the plague, especially if you want to maintain a little dignity when you are talking to her about something as emotionally taxing as acne. I have not had experience with the other doctors/nurses at this location, but Janice has done enough that I don't ever want to go back to this gloomy, dirty, dermatologist's office ever again. read more

I have nothing but confidence in them. You know, I used to be bothered by the wait, but, they always fit me in if I am worried or have an urgent issue. I went to their Covington location on April 2014 because this was one of the providers listed for a smoking cessation program I am in. When I called to set up the appointment I was very clear in the insurance covering it and my reason for the visit. Upon arrival it is much as described by other patients - drab, dirty and the staff leaves you waiting well past your appointment time. Once I was in the room the doctor went through a list of questions that revolved around depression. I told him that I have was not and have never been depressed and to stop asking me questions in regards to it and I did not want it marked in my medical records as such. As of 02/02/2016 I received a bill from them for $150.00 because they continued to bill with the wrong CPT & DX code - and this was stated on the bill they sent me! Upon further investigation I found out that they billed my insurance company with a depression code! "Dr." Cruz decided to use this as my only diagnoses. The billing department in incompetent to say the least, had I not called my insurance company they would have never caught this. They are saying that in the event I paid the bill it would have been caught and returned. Right... They are denying using the depression code, but my insurance told me this morning they in fact billed with a depression code. Check your medical records with them and make sure they are diagnosing you appropriately, although my true advice is to not go there period. I also called the office several times prior to the billing debacle to have them write me a additional prescription for 6 months, because he only wrote me for a months supple initially - yay. My teenage daughter had a rash on her face that was getting increasingly redder and larger. I wasn't able to get in to see my regular dermatologist, but was able to get a same-day appt. with Dr. Dimitri in Mandeville. They were clearly overbooked and should not have taken our appt. as we waited for two hours to see the doctor. She was very unprofessional and unkempt. When I told her that my daughter had not changed anything regarding her skincare routine in over a year, she asked what she was using and then said that her one product was what was causing the rash. It really could have been anything that caused the rash, so clearly she didn't know. She then prescribed my daughter a $200 lotion. I used hydrocortisone otc and it cleared up on its own. She then said she wanted her to follow up and she would put her on retin-A. My daughter is only 14 and doesn't have any significant skin issues besides a few small pimples that are very typical of a teenage girl. Obviously won't be following up with Dr. Dimitri! read more
