It's far from fancy, the food had great flavor, the staff was friendly, accommodating and explained the dishes. No fancy plates, just paper plates, plastic, spoons, knives and forks. It's vegetarian and the food had excellent spices and flavor. Everything is to the spicy hot side. We have the vegetable samosa, you get two. The Kati roll which wax delicious and the veg Britain rice which was my favorite. They have a wide variety of appetizers, rice dishes, entree size portions and you can share everything. They have a good selection of beverages as well. There is outdoor seating under umbrellas, and parking within walking distance. We ordered the following items: Masala Dosa. 3/5 Perhaps was the best thing we ordered. The potatoes inside the dosa were good, but not seasoned enough. We didn't care for the other fixings that came, such as sambar, etc Tokri Chaat 3/5. It was ok. Didn't care for the ingredients that were served. Perhaps it was the yogurt that didn't taste good. Bombay chaat 1/5. By far the worst item we ordered. Fell way below. It had dahi badas in it which were hard and they broke down in the chaat making the texture very mushy and unappetizing. Omg, this food is the bomb! It's the stuff Gujarati food dreams are made of! The outdoor patio was perfect. The day we went because the weather was gorgeous and the service was great, they brought food out continuously and refilled our water. The staff never complained or fuss and it's so good. Dimple's Bombay Talk is about as real as it gets outside of Calcutta or New Delhi. If you've ever spent any time in Iselin or Edison then you know how similar India is to New Jersey. The parallels between India and New Jersey are uncanny! This restaurant is owned and operated by Indian Americans who know authentic Indian cuisine. Unfortunately they don't offer mulligatawny soup. They have a separate version in India called something else which they informed me about. I will come back for hybrid Indian Chinese food whenever I'm back in the area. read more

I ate here solo and I had an enjoyable experience. I first ordered the paper mysore plain dosa and then ordered the plain mysore dosa. Both were above average. This place needs a big overhaul in terms of crowd management and proper execution of Covid precautions. This tiny restaurant, on a normal day, would've been a nice spot to eat your favorite meal and catch up with friends and family, but during this ongoing pandemic, the staff needs to do more to ensure the safety of the people dining in, and more so, their own safety. This restaurant is located street side with very limited parking. I had ordered take out from this place during a very rainy weekend and my experience was frustrating, and frankly, a little overwhelming. The place was operating at almost full capacity, the take out process was a mess as we were told to wait outside on the common area, which is a small place as you open the door but not inside the restaurant, and oh boy, the waiting was just soooo long. People were scrambling to be seated, and as I stood there, waiting for my take out order, more and more kept coming to get a table indoors. They had a few tables arranged outside but the rain just didn't help this cause. All this being said, the food that I had ordered was amazing! I got - dry gobi manchurian, cutlet chat and chatpatti chat. The gobi manchurian was fantastic and had punchy flavor, the cutlet chat had a big cutlet as the base and chole (beans) as the topping which paired well and the charpatti chat had a blend of flavors which would entice your taste buds. The ongoing pandemic has definitely taken a toll on a lot of businesses and public places since a consumer's mindset to buy anything outside of essentials or to visit a public place like a park or beach, has crippled down significantly. Now by living with what has become the new normal, it is commendable on how these businesses and public places continue to remain open and cater to the general public by following the safety standards. It is now all the more important that we as customers, support these heroes during these dark hours to mankind. We went there on a relative's recommendation who was visiting us from NC. Due to the pandemic, they have a mandatory temperature check before letting us in but there was no one person assigned for the job and we had to wait for few minutes even after the staff was aware that we were waiting behind the doors. After we passed it, we were offered a table distanced from rest of the crowd. They don't have a hard copy of the menu card and you need to scan the QR code label that was stuck on every table. Unluckily none of us had the feature to scan it, but luckily had taken a pic of the menu card that was stuck on one of the walls near the entrance for our reference. They have a nice staff in Rhea who was an all rounder running around waiting the table, answering to questions patiently, taking orders over phone and checking out guests who had come to take their carry out. She was very courteous in knowing when to bring what and let us know in advance. Now to the main attraction, FOOD. The taste was so authentic that it transported me back to the days I spent in Bombay(Mumbai) 12 years back. We ordered Tokri chat, Cutlet chat, Pani puri and Bombay chat. All the dishes were tremendously native and tasty. The creamy Rasamalaai for a dessert was a treat to end the meal. If you are visiting NJ/Edison and are a fan of Chat, you can definitely tip your money here. read more

I've been here a few times and this restaurant is always buzzing with people coming in and out. I'm not that familiar with Indian food, but I always think the food here is great! A few of my favorite dishes include their tokri chat, samosa chat, and paper masala dosa. Note that the dining area is small and the tables are lined up against each other, so it can feel crowded, especially during peak lunch/dinner hours. It's not that ideal for larger groups, but probably do-able if you come early or come during off peak hours. Service is consistently friendly, but it can be chaotic trying to flag down a waiter when the restaurant gets busy. During my last visit, I really appreciated our server who helped make some of the dishes less spicy, especially since the group I came with was new to Indian food and couldn't handle too much spices. One thing I noticed was that all the dishes were served on styrofoam plates/bowls with plastic utensils. It seems wasteful, and I hope they can move towards being more sustainable and environmentally friendly. read more

Trip to NYC/NJ means it a must stop in Edison - Oak Tree road! I have been here many times now and it's been pretty much the same overall. Tokri chaat - I usually get the khasta Katchori but this time got the tokri chaat. I think the khasta Katchori might be better as the tokri is made out of potatoes and is hard to break it when trying to eat. Whereas the khasta Katchori breaks reaily. Also this one was filled with a lot dry Indian snacks like dal, boondhi, posh chevdo, etc. 2.5/5 Manchao soup - tried for the first time and will be the last time. 1/5 Dry Gobi Manchurian - was really good! I came with my 'Indian Mafia' lunch buddies for lunch. I liked that there was a parking. I'd hate to street park in Iselin. I got grilled veg sandwich, Rava masala dosa, and a Indian hallo Halo sorry I forgot what the name of that tasty drink. My friends got the samosa, dosa, and some stuff I don't know the name but they told me many times. My dosa was pretty good, I still like Sri dosa over here. The veg sandwich tasted what it would be. I was expecting it to taste better. But it tasted like a salad in between buttered toast. My flatool? Was the dried out version. It was very refreshing. I didn't like the noodles. It's like having corn in Halo Halo. That's an abomination to sweet cold dessert. Discount when you pay in cash. We threw the money lady for a loop because all 6 of us wanted to pay separately. She hunkered down and got all items paid for. My 3 items cost $25. Really pricey for street veg food. I'd go back to try the Indian Chinese food. If there are recommendations. Let me know. I've only ordered their tokri (bowl) chaat. It's soooo good. Is the best chaat we've had. Now they have nice outdoor seating due to covid; it's actually better then the cramped inside look which made me always opt for takeout versus dine in. Tokri chaat... it can be too sweet so ask for the sweet chutney on the side do you can control the sugar! The yogurt is also sweet. Dimple's is a staple fast food place on Oak Tree Rd. I have been here more times than I can honestly remember over the course of 25 years. Most recently, I went in February for something with my mom. Since we were there around dinner time, we decided to grab a quick bite at Dimple's. Luckily, we were there on a weekday otherwise if it was the weekend? Forget about it!! They were quick to bring our food, but one thing I hate is when it comes time to pay, you don't know if they're gonna bring the check to you or you have to go to the front to pay. A lot of places on Oak Tree are pay at the front type places, and the waiters don't come to you unless you flag them down. It's annoying, but a point I can forgive them for.
