Whats a girl to do, so many salons to choose from and i hit the stylist jackpot! Before coming here i had been doing my hair so it was getting super dry and frizzy. Plus having a kid just changes your hair, and for me it did. Let me tell you the salon is clean, maintained and following guidelines for covid. Tifa, my stylist was very professional, talented and customer oriented. I came here last week for what women call a "hair emergency." It was the day before a close friend's wedding, and I was one of the bridesmaids. I held off on dying my hair for the longest time, only because I was scared of giving in to a new stylist dying my hair. I don't want to travel so far from my place to spend $200+. Literally came in the day before the wedding to get my hair done. I showed Christina a photo of the hair that i wanted to mimic, it was ask brown with blonde highlights that fade mostly at the bottom. She suggested that the ombre look is starting to fade out. She and Dina doubled checked my roots, color, etc. This was great for me, because it made me feel like they were really paying attention to my particular needs. I came in at 9:00AM and left at 11:20. Not bad! I saw that because Christina foiled my hair, gave it a deep conditioning mask, and even a trim. In total, I did not spend more than $105. Isn't that great?! Definitely coming back here!!! I've seen Tifa twice now for highlights and a cut. I had initially gone to a far pricier salon (well-reviewed on here), in my quest to go from brunette to blonde and been very disappointed with the patchy tiger-stripe effect I paid over $250 for there. For $85 (before tip), Tifa had me a subtle, multi-toned blonde with the most flattering haircut I've had in years. My hair wasn't fried and my most recent visit (to go lighter), she worked some magic with toner which really cut through the red in my hair. Best of all, when I realised I was out of time (school pickup), the staff worked together to get me from sitting in foils to perfectly coiffed and at my kids' school within 30 minutes. I had two members of staff blow-drying and styling my hair simultaneously to get me out of there on time, and all with incredibly good humour. And despite my basically having to leave before the optimum developing time, my hair looks amazing. I am looking forward to my next visit. read more

So I just moved into the neighborhood and was recommended to Dina & Tifa hair studio. At first I was scared but I went with my instinct and let me tell you I left smiling ear to ear. I loved everything about my hair. Tifa did exactly as I wanted and more. She listened to exactly how I wanted my hair cut ( typically they cut too much or not enough) but not here not Tifa. Lovely Eastern European ladies working here. They are friendly and accommodating. My stylist was patient with me. I showed her some pictures of the cut I wanted and even after showing her the pictures she still asked questions to make sure the cut was just like I wanted it. There was no waiting time for me as I called and scheduled ahead of time and let them know I didn't have a stylist preference since it was my first time going here. BE AWARE THEY ONLY TAKE CASH OR CHECKS!! Also the prices they have online do not resemble what they actually charge you. For my relatively long hair which I had cut to a medium layered length I was charged $45. This included my hair getting washed, cut and styled. Which btw the styled part was nice, but the actual cut was not anything special or how I wanted it. I took away 1 star for the price being different than what they had on their website and another because one small section of my hair is a little longer than the other and it didn't come out how I actually wanted it. read more

I have been in Chicago since May 1st of this year. I got a few consultations from stylists in the West Loop/ Fulton Market area and was treated poorly. I was a little frustrated. A co-worker had really great highlights so I asked where she went. She told me Tifa at Dina & Tifa. I called to speak with someone, and immediately over the phone I was welcomed with kindness from Christina. I told her I was referred to this salon by a co-worker. I told her what I was looking to do with my hair and she didn't turn her nose up at me (as if I could see that through the phone lol) But I wasn't treated mean like the other local stylists had treated me. She gave me some times and pricing and even told me that the brown line easily will get me there (I sold my car before I moved here) I have gone tons since then and I gotta say - I love my hair! Tifa is great! My schedule isn't ideal and we are off the same days, and I have been thinking about just trying to find someone again close by. I have been going to this salon for almost 8 years. The owners were really nice in the beginning, but they have become so rude lately. You tell them to do your hair the way you want, and they do it totally different or you call them to make an appt they ignore your call. Dina is really good, but she sometimes messes up. I think she is trying to take care of too many customer at the same time. Time is an issue for these owners. If I am scheduled at 1:00pm, then make sure my hair stylist is available at 1:00pm. Sometimes I have to wait more than an hour. I HATE WAITING. read more

I only wished I lived in Chicago so that I could go more often. The staff are friendly, super competent, and up to date on the latest techniques to protect your hair. I came here last Saturday and although the place way busy the Staff was excellent!!! The way they worked together to ensure that each customer was being taken care of, satisfied, and out in a timely manner made me realize the customer service is this groups #1 focus. There were only two stylists on that day however, I found out the other stylist who is also part owner was on vacation. Needless to say the two that were there running around like crazy women were all smiles and 100% focused on the job! I came in for a cut and color. Christina was the stylist who worked on me. She sat me down and fully examined my hair without being judgmental. She also asked what concerns I had with my hair. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and told her I was not sure of the color. So she grabbed a few books and helped me choose a color that I would be in love with and that would also work with what I currently had. She spent about 15 minutes helping me figure out what I wanted and listening to me to fully understand my likes and dislikes even in such a hectic environment. When I left I was soo happy with my amazing cut and my gorgeous color!!!! Not to mention my hair felt soo soft, silky, and manageable. She styled my hair without adding a bunch of goop to it! The best part that it price was cheaper than anywhere I have ever gone and I received more attention than ever before and again the results were fantastic!!! Oh and did I mention that she was not one of those hair dressers who try to convince you that your hair is great and perfect. Instead she asks "What do you think?" "Are you sure that you love it?" To me this was icing on the cake!!!! Never before did I have a hair stylist go above and beyond to make sure I was happy. Usually they would tell me how amazing I looked and build up my cut and color then, when I went home I would notice how god awful it looked! This was certainly not the case!!! Oh and I was not the only one who felt this way. As I seen the ladies come and go they were all smiles and looking amazing so I am sure that no matter who you go to you are going to be taken care of and satisfied with your results! Good salon if you have extra time to wait! I was given an appointment and waited an extra 30 minutes till they took me because they had another customer, who apparently had started shortly before my time. The stylist was very knowledgeable, attentive and very kind. I got my roots done. After the color, they washed my hair, but then yet another customer came in and I had to wait till her hair was all cut and blowed dried before they finished me. At that point my hair was half dry and they applied the styling products late. I have really curly hair and applying products to semi-dry hair while you manipulate it and blow dry it at the same time, can make it really frizzy, which is what it ended up looking like. All in all, I would say it was a good experience, but I am not sure I want to deal with high wait times again. I paid $65 for the roots and blow dry. Their website lists color as $25, so don't even bother with their website! The price is very similar to other salons and you don't have to deal with waiting... read more
