I came in after a disastrous visit to a so‑called "blonde specialist" who completely ruined my hair while trying to take me from brunette to blonde. My hair was damaged, uneven, and honestly I was scared to try again. Lira changed everything. She not only helped me achieve the blonde I originally wanted, but she did it in a way that protected my hair and brought it back to life. My color looks beautiful, natural, and exactly how I envisioned it. Even better--my hair is actually growing back and feeling healthy again. Lira is truly a master of her craft. She listens, she cares, and she knows exactly what she's doing. If you're thinking about going blonde or need someone to fix a color gone wrong, she's the one you want in your corner. First I will start with what was good. 1. The dye job ended up beautiful. I came in with pretty unclear instructions and reference photos and both the stylist and the owner were able to figure out what fit my needs. This seems to be a huge strength here. 2. They were able to fit me in last minute. What was bad 1. The total time listed online was 1.45 hours, the service ended up taking 2.45 hours. I have been to many salons and never had my hair take that long, especially when I was getting all over color and a blowout (no haircut). Perhaps this was due to me booking last minute. However, the website booking made it look wide open and I think it is the responsibility of the salon to accurately represent their booking capability. I would not have booked with them had I known what experience was to follow. 2. The salon overall seemed overbooked and people were bouncing around. Three different people worked on my hair. Personally, I really didn't like this set up. I like to build a relationship with my stylist and this hectic atmosphere was not synonymous with that 3. The blowout I had was so uncomfortable. The rollers were tangled up in my hair and I could feel it ripping out as the stylist took them out. I have never have a blowout be so painful. My hair had so many split ends after I looked in the mirror at home. 4. My hair fell the moment I stepped outside. Granted it was a windy day, but my hair doesn't typically fall that fast. I think this may have been due to the stylist rushing at the end. On one hand I'm glad she did because I had been sitting alone for quite some time, but on the other hand I paid for essentially nothing. My old stylist back home (moved cross country) had no problem giving me a blowout that lasted at least a few hours. Even on windy days. 5. At one point the owner took my stylist in the back and seemed to be scolding her. This is never something a new client wants to see. I immediately felt anxious that something had gone wrong with my hair color. It ended up great but tbh experience was awkward and handled strangely in my opinion. 6. Finally. The price came out to $260 for all over color and a blowout. I wouldn't mind this price if it wasn't for the lackluster experience. Hair salons are charging luxury prices without offering luxury experiences. The pricing structure is also strange. They charge $60 extra for toner but I have never had a color job that didn't need toner to look good. It feels strange to not include it all together. The toner charge was added after which was a surprise because toner has always been included in the price. To be clear, the website did ask if I wanted to add toner for $60. I thought that was for someone coming in looking just to tone and not add more color. Perhaps this was my mistake but I found the whole pricing structure strange. A few other things to note: water was offered but never given and they only accept cash/zelle/venmo tips. Overall this salon was not a fit for me. A lot of this is subjective preference but I think it's important that people understand what environment they are paying for when they sign up to spend hundreds. That being said, the color was beautiful and I am grateful for that. read more

I've gone back and forth for a long time about writing this review, but with the anniversary of my mom's passing approaching, it feels important to finally share my experience with Lira. A couple of years ago, I took my mom to the salon after she had been housebound and in a wheelchair for months due to her health. Her illness had already taken a toll on her, but she was determined to keep going, to feel good about herself, to hold on to hope, and to keep pushing forward. My mom sat in the salon chair for hours, and by the time the service was finished, the color was very far off from what we had shown in photos. Despite being unhappy with the results, my mom was exhausted and feeling unwell. She didn't have the physical strength to speak up or sit through anything longer, so she let it go. About an hour later, I returned to the salon on my own to speak with Lira. I explained the situation and my mom's health, and I asked her for color so I could try to fix it myself at home, where my mom was most comfortable. I didn't ask for a refund, and I didn't ask for the service to be redone. Despite paying a significant amount (around $400 with tip), I received no apology. Instead, Lira told me that when people are sick, they're not happy with anything. That comment still shocks me to this day. What has stayed with me all this time isn't just the incorrect color, it's the complete lack of empathy. My mom was already dealing with health issues, and shortly after, we found out that her condition was due to cancer. She was in pain, but she still wanted to live, to try, and to hold on to moments of normalcy. I understand that mistakes happen. Hair can be fixed. But how you treat people, especially those who are vulnerable, matters. Compassion matters. I'm sharing this not for money or resolution, but in the hope that it encourages more empathy. For anyone caring for a sick parent or grieving a loved one, your pain is real, and those small moments of joy and dignity matter more than most people realize. read more

I've got bright red hair and they have done a great job working with me to tone it to match my extensions, while keeping it as close to my natural color as we can. I always get compliments! For literally years, I've been asking colorists to give me chic grey hair-white with darker streaks--and have gotten everything from mousy brown to straw yellow. This was hands down the most unprofessional, insulting, and downright shady salon experience I've ever had. I booked with Lira and was told it would be $125, which I agreed to - assuming she would actually be the one doing my hair. Spoiler: she didn't. She said hi, washed my hair & then handed me off to someone else like I wasn't even important. No explanation, no heads up, nothing. She just went to wash another customers hair. So yeah, I paid full price for someone I didn't even book with. My hair is damaged now, and I left the salon feeling way worse than when I walked in. But the worst part? Lira who I booked with stood a few feet away the whole time talking about MY hair, making rude comments, and even laughing about me in the mirror while the other hairdresser was blow-drying my hair. I could literally see her pointing and talking trash to her customer while I was sitting RIGHT THERE. It was honestly disgusting and super embarrassing. I've never felt more uncomfortable or disrespected in a salon in my life. This place is a joke. Overpriced, rude, and completely lacking in basic respect or professionalism. They charge luxury prices for garbage service, and the owner is rude and unprofessional on top of it. Lira, I see that you responded to my initial review. You are correct. I did email you directly with more photos outside of this yelp review. I have never received a response; no text, call or email back to discuss. I never said that I will take down the review, I said that I'd be willing to MODIFY my review and politely asked for a refund (even partial). Please don't try to turn this around now and attempt to make me sound sinister by accusing me of extortion. I'd argue that it's more unethical for a business to keep $500 from a customer who's openly and justifiably unhappy with the service. From looking at the pics, you know perfectly well that this was a very poor outcome. While mistake happen and are forgivable, bad service is unacceptable. The good news is that after about 6 washes, two of them with a salon-grade clarifying shampoo (Matrix Alt Action recommended by another stylist, in case anyone is curious) I was able to partially remove the muddy brassy tones from my hair. I was still left with a look that was a far cry from what I had originally wanted, and hair that felt damaged all summer. I really hope you will view my review as constructive criticism and try to provide better services, especially to brand new clients who are taking a leap of faith by trying a new salon. We booked appts. to get our hair done for a wedding. Started out really well - nice environment and friendly staff. My sister asked for a pretty basic updo based off a photo. Lira got angry bc my sister asked her to fix the front a bit when she was done and very quickly turned into a not so friendly person. She was obviously offended, and all my sister did was ask her to fix how her bangs were falling (shouldn't the customer be happy with their $150 updo??) After Lira was done making my sister feel uncomfortable for speaking up, she started washing my hair, pulling and yanking.... obviously angry. She then stopped mid-wash and ordered another associate to take over. Thank God for that bc the other lady (I don't remember her name) did an amazing job. Before we paid, I walked towards the back to use the bathroom and found Lira whispering about us to that same associate. When I stopped and called her out on it she back peddled and made up some lame answer. SOO unprofessional - super disappointing experience. Sometimes you come across a business that offers hospitality beyond anything you might expect. Lira Guzi Salon is one of those businesses. I made a call for a last minute appointment and the owner Lira answered from home. She was able to get me in on short notice. She was so kind about it too. When I arrived to the salon I found a spacious and bright room. Tucked away on a quiet street, parking was easy to find. The young girl at the desk checked me in. She also happened to be my stylist Julia. She was very kind and quite knowledgeable of her craft. Lira was there who continued to offer such kindness. I felt very welcome and appreciated. I received beautiful highlights, haircut and style. My stylist Julia was efficient and managed her time nicely.
