I stopped by to get a boba fix. I ordered a large oolong milk tea, 50% sweet, 50% ice with golden boba. It came out pretty quickly. The drink itself is pretty balanced, but there is a preponderance of creamer flavor compared to tea. There's no tea astringently at the end of your sip so it's pretty mild. The boba is only slightly on the harder side than what I like. It's still pretty good. I would stop by here again if it was on the way to something else I was going to! I haven't tried any of their food offerings; I'm not sure how popular it is since I've never seen anyone else getting food here. This location is very consistent with other Ding Tea locations. If you've been to any other locations, you'll find that this one is pretty much identical in quality. Oolong Milk Tea, 50% Sweet, 30% Ice, with Golden Boba - Very standard taste. Good boba texture. Not that sweet, probably should have gone with 70%. There's really not much to talk about here. We got there around 2 pm on a weekday - actually on the day Michigan lifted its mask mandate (6/22/2021) - and it wasn't too busy. But I still got my mask on, just to be safe. The store was extremely cute. They had tables with bicycles as their legs and the store offered so many Instagrammable and Yelp-friendly corners and backgrounds for customers to pose or take pictures of their drinks. My favorite was the gorgeous pink rose wall, but the giant teddy bear was equally cute as well. It took them only a few minutes to prep our drinks. Since it was our first time here, we decided to go with the very basic: their signature milk tea with boba. I opted for 50% sugar but that was plenty sweet! I would go lower to 25% next time. The milk tea was super yummy - it was creamy, the tea flavor really came through. I was really happy with it. And the boba was perfectly sweetened and the texture was spot on!!! The boba was chewy and soft, it was wonderful. I wish I could try their "special" drinks which I learned were only offered at the Canton location. These special drinks included (I only saw in the picture on Yelp, sadly) cherry blossom milk tea, coconut taro slush, butterfly pea latte, and avocado brown sugar milk tea. I would try any of them in a heartbeat!!! I've never even heard of these adventurous flavors in the San Francisco Bay Area. Hopefully we'll get to try them someday soon. read more

I had been to one other Ding Tea location prior to today, in Novi, and I was in the Madison Heights area visiting a friend, so I stopped by this location to pick up a drink to bring over to her house. They have a list of their Top 10 drinks up on the electronic menu board so that was helpful, although ultimately I ended up getting the Thai tea. All of their milk teas are non-dairy which is awesome. The cashier did tell me their lattes have (dairy) milk, though. I think the Thai milk tea does have some caffeine so my stomach hated me a bit later today, but it was delicious. I also got it with lychee jellies. They also have some Instagrammable photo spots in the shop (see my pic), which is fun. Ding Tea is located in a small strip mall off of Dequindre with a few other restaurants and shops, it's a little hard to spy if you're coming North on Dequindre as it's tucked away in the corner but Google Maps should be able to help. I *do* wish they had an Almond Milk Tea on the menu as that's usually my favorite to get at Kung Fu Tea, but they have a very large menu so there's definitely lots of other drinks to try. I'll be back at some point to try more, hopefully. read more

Great place with a large menu selection to choose from! The location is a strip mall and in the back corner. It's very easy to miss if you're quickly glancing. There's plenty of parking outside as well. The interior is super cute and would be great for hangouts or working because it is so quiet! In addition they have cute walls for prime photo shoots with a cute background. The woman's restroom was very clean. I ordered my favorite honey milk tea with boba (which is not included you must ask for it as a topping) with half ice. It was promptly made and I love that I didn't have to wait long for it. My friends ordered the Thai milk tea and strawberry milk tea. I definitely recommend all of these drinks! Their most popular drink is the monster boba milk tea, which is a sweetened brown sugar drink which looks delicious! I can't wait to go back to try it! Service was quick, friendly, and patient! I also like that this place is a chain with locations all over southeast Michigan and so far quality has been consistent between two different locations I've been to. Hardly a meal finished where I don't immediately think after, "Bubble tea?" And with Ding Tea opening up in Madison Heights literally 5 minutes away from my place, it was a match made in heaven. For a while at least... I've since been to the other Ding Tea location in Novi and sadly I wish we could trade them. Here's why; Consistency: The consistency of the drink quality at the Novi location is far and away the better than the Madison Heights location. Huge chunks of uncut ice in their slushees, inconsistent drink flavor mixes (watery, too much mix), leaky lids, etc. The overall blend and drink creation is much more consistent at the Novi location. Rewards program: Why does the Novi location have one, and the MH one does not? As often as myself my and my friends and family go, being rewarded is a nice little perk! No more boba!: More than a few times have I gone to the MH location and had them tell me they're out of their regular "golden" boba. Never been the case at the Novi location. I'll still frequent this location as it's the closest of all the boba options (Kung Fu, Kuma, Quickly, Bambu), but it may be time to find another favorite. read more

Ordered the strawberry yakult slush, don't quite get why they can't add the yakult to the mango or lime passionfruit slush. I got it with the golden bubbles to try it out, though it tastes exactly the same. The slush is settling and the water is separating from the strawberry juice. The bubbles are soft and chewy. The strawberry tastes strange to me, almost like it was made from a strawberry flavored powder somehow. I like the bicycle long counter seating. The rose petal walk is great for pics. The long bench is nice and cozy and next to the big fluffy Costco looking bear, makes it feel so welcoming and comforting. The strawberry slushy tasted like chemicals and wasn't even good enough to down half of it. It didn't taste right. Would have been a lot better even if they had used frozen fruit or something to give it a more fresh flavor at least. read more

Absolutely delicious!! Been able to find a bunch of great boba tea spots recently and this is no exception. The menu is simple but offers your classic options and a few other ones to spice up your typical order. My review is based on non-dairy options only, and I was pleased that most of their milk teas offered a non dairy milk option. They weren't able to clarify what they use, but the absence of GI distress afterward is reassuring. The grapefruit boba tea was fresh tasting, not artificial at all which I loved. The golden boba was a welcome surprise as it didn't over power the drink. The oolong tea was sweet and creamy, not overpowering either. Delicious boba texture. I wish they made it easier to request sugar level but surprisingly nothing to "too sweet" without modifications so I'm a happy camper. Will return. read more

Oh why hello there Ding Tea. I never imagined I'd find you here in Michigan! It's quite refreshing to see another dependable boba chain pop up here. This isn't my favorite chain back in California, but this is the best boba that I've had here in Michigan. It definitely hits the spot after not having good boba for a few weeks (my poor boba soul has been withdrawing from having daily boba back home in SoCal). That being said, about this place: I came for the grand opening weekend. It was luckily a little slower when I went. The cashier was super nice and they prepared the drinks pretty quickly too. I ordered a monster bobo (boba?) latte with egg pudding and boba and my friend had their signature milk tea. I can't help it, I can't resist a good brown sugar milk tea. It's no half and half or tiger sugar but it was really good and I enjoyed my drink. My friends signature milk tea wasn't that bad either. I had no complaint about either drink. They were sweet and the boba was chewy (no undercooked or overcooked bits at all)! I'm gonna come back for the fruit teas and definitely a taro milk tea. As for the shop, it's as cute and aesthetically pleasing as many of the other ding teas in SoCal. They have the signature grass wall and even a super cute rose wall, perfect for photos! There's a lot of space for studying or chilling, and tons of board games too. I can't complain, at least it isn't squishy! I'm so glad to see new boba spots opening up. It's nice to see so much diversity coming to the area. It's made the culture shock from coming from SoCal less difficult and will get me through til I go back. This is the only place where the base tea is made strong consistently. I I am from the south Asian household and tea is drink 3 to 4 times a day every day, the quality and taste of the tea is homemade and perfect. The prices are a little high imo which would knock down a start but my bff convinced me to give them five stars to support them. Adored the interior of this boba shop. The aesthetics is definitely ig worthy. There were so many cute details and decor! Place felt chill and spacious. Quite a good selection on the menu as well. I like that you can customize your drinks (sweetness/ice). I ordered the Lychee Black Tea and the flavor was just right. I didn't have to alter my drink whatsoever. Today, hubby really wanted bubble tea and we were in the area so we searched "bubble tea" and Ding tea came up on the list. I began looking for a menu picture and ran across a picture of Brown Sugar Milk Tea with Coffee Jellies and I had to have it so we headed that way. The inside is decorated quite nicely and they had seats available for waiting. We placed our order and waited a few minutes. OMG... that brown sugar milk tea- best thing ever!! The sweetness mixed with the bitter coffee jellies... Ding tea may now be our new go to. Hubby ordered regular milk tea with boba and he joyed his drink too. We will definitely be back!! read more

I've had decent experiences in the store but the last two times I've called to place my order they got it wrong. I understand some of the workers who pick up the phone are new or busy with other customers- that's totally fine I don't mind if you take your time! BUT both times they have gotten my order wrong in some way which is disappointing to say the least. Also, the aloe vera passion fruit juice should come with aloe vera I believe, I've gotten this same drink at Ding Tea Novi and the aloe vera came with it because that's literally the name of the drink lol but at this ding tea apparently it's extra which is confusing? We wanted to try a boba tea place that's not KFT, and we should've just stuck with KFT. The best drink that we got was the Hokkaido Oolong milk tea with grass jelly - it tasted more like coffee than oolong but not bad and the grass jelly was a good consistency. The black milk tea was standard but get it with 0% sugar if you get red beans as a topping. The taro was that fake powdery purple - I prefer the taro at KFT or 7leaves. The boba though was horrific - no flavor and was very mushy and limped in my mouth. I just ended up spitting out the boba. I'm not sure if I got a bad batch but with KFT in the area, why bother trying Ding Tea again? read more

I have passed my tri-weekly ding tea phase and currently rate this place mediocore. The drinks with the brewed tea and milk are the best for example Hokkaido oolong tea or winter melon green milk tea. The slushies are nothing to rave about. I really only come here for the winter melon milk tea (add caramel add boba) otherwise I drive up the extra 3 miles to go to Kung fu tea as their taro slush is much better. I called a pick up order over the phone, a taro slush and a hokkaido black milk tea and it was not even close to ready during my five minute drive. I arrived with two people in front of me and they ordered two monster boba lattes and they got their drinks first. Yet I had already placed a phone order prior and upon my arrival one of the workers was still blending the taro slush. I'm not sure how the business trains their workers, but they need to be faster. All of the workers just move so slow. I get it, I came into half an hour before closing, but wouldn't you want to get your customers out as fast as possible so you continue cleaning and closing? Everyone moves like turtles. Even if business is slow you still need to maintain the service momentum. I almost feel like service gets slower every time I come here. Very sad to add as well that they ran out of their signature boba 45 minutes before they close when I had called on the phone... like why? They have a lot of topping choices but they ran out of boba well on before they closed. I get it if it's 20 minutes or less and you run out of boba, but really? 45 min? Should've made more or prepared for more. I was so excited and pleased when this business opened up but it really has fallen in its service since then. So glad we spotted Ding Tea on our way to Pho Tai and it did not disappoint. The winter melon milk tea and brown sugar milk tea with golden bubbles are my two favorites so far. Both were super rich with flavors and amazing. The amount of milk to tea proportion was perfect as I've been struggling to find that perfect balance from Kungfu and Quickly. Golden bubbles were chewy and soft and much better than regular black boba. Overall this is my favorite milk tea chain in Michigan and will have to try other flavors! I've been going to Ding Tea Detroit every now and then since they've opened. First, I must say that the monster boba lacks taste in comparison with Ding Tea Novi. The Taro milk tea, Brown Sugar, and Hokkaido is not sweet enough in my opinion. The drink i do like is Wintermelon but that's about it. The golden boba, on the other hand, is soft and chewy and it tastes amazing. I understand that it's new and the workers are probably still getting the hang of making drinks, but it seems like it's not improving. Not only the milk tea, the workers too. The workers don't seem enthusiastic at all because they don't smile or greet you nor say thank you/you're welcome.
