We tried another butcher, but the smell was so overwhelming that we left. We found Carroll's through a google search. The store was easy to find on Pearl street. The parking lot is small, but we were able to find parking no problem. The inside was clean with a better smell than the last store we went to. My mom was able to find the boiling meat she wanted, and we got some nice cuts of bacon and drumsticks/wings for a great price. I was really happy with the prices, and the meat looked very fresh. The service was also top notch. The cashier was very nice and even gave us some ideas on preparing the meats we selected. I like this place a lot and would happily come back to get some more cuts of meat.

This is another one of the discount food stores that seem to be popping up around town. This one…read moreseems to have been around for a a while though and it is in a somewhat economically challenged area. They have a good amount of products and the prices are quite reasonable. Most of the time you are going to find brands that you never heard of. I've visited on a Sunday around 11:15 AM which is right when or slightly before the church people start shopping. There was one person working check out and another person restocking the meat department and a third person who was kind of milling around back-and-forth in the office. They had an advertised special for boneless pork sirloin but they didn't have any out so I asked the meat person about it and he was very nice and friendly. They didn't have it so he went in the back and cut it for me. It did take him a while but it was completely fresh so I think it's worth it. They had most of the items in their sale flyer but not all of them available. Checking out was a hassle, there was eight or nine different people in line the entire time I was there and at one point Nother person came out to help get the line down then that guy went right back in the office and the line built right back up again. I called them from my cell phone from the line and ask him to come back out which he somewhat grudgingly did. All in all the staff was friendly and they try hard to keep the place clean but it is a discount food store so don't expect it to be nice.
