Inside, you start to get the feeling that you are dining at your French grandma's home. Duck l'Orange, escargot Burgundy style, lovely entrecôte and a curated french cheese and French wine selection. You won't leave disappointed - guaranteed. Top tip: Reserve well in advance by telephone and you will speak directly to the chef proprietor. He accommodates special diets and if you are lucky enough to score a meal, you will be one of 2 or 3 tables served that evening. Minimum 4 persons for reservations. Pricing is competitive for the region. Don't miss the crème brûlée - flamed table side. Close your eyes and you will think you are dining at a top flight Parisian bistro on the left bank.

I got to Portugal on Tuesday evening (it was actually afternoon but they lost my bag, so...) and…read morewent to a restaurant with Di, where I ordered some beef dish that was very tender, well cooked and garlicky and Di got the cuddle fish and chips that was rather rubbery. The sangria was delicious and hit the spot. We had a bolo that was delicious, wafers with chocolate and crème. Yes desserts in Portugal are going to be most agreeable! The next day, on the drive to Tavira we stopped at some random place off the A2 where we got the same spare ribs (the gizzards simply did not appeal) that sat on stuffing that tasted vaguely of pork fat and overwhelmingly of garlic... this could be going better. There were locals eating with gusto, so it's probably us. Oh yes, I ordered the chocolate mousse... I don't know how they made it taste like that. Finally, after getting and being sent to a hotel that was dark and dank rented for us by VRBO (after missing connection with our landlord) we found a lovely farmhouse suite with a loft we begged Yelp for a decent restaurant, and they served up Restaurant Vincent... oh my, sheer ambrosia! Well, not really, but good food well prepared in a nice environment. So, the meal: I had the goat cheese and tomato tart, the rib eye, and tart tatin; Di got the French onion soup, the sea bass, and cinnamon crème brûlée. Everything was very good, with Di feeling that the fish reached "excellent", start at the top of th Oh, what don't the di do wa no know, but served by Vincent, who does everything, with great wine suggestions. Highly recommended. *a note on a 16€ steak: if you're expecting prime beef... don't. The steak was the best selection of choice beef I've seen in a long time (Vincent may have something on the butcher.) Gristle-free and very flavorful... and perfectly cooked to my request of medium. Vincent goes above and beyond in every way as greeter, waiter, chef and cashier!
